User page deletions

You should not delete the user pages of banned users who have been sockpuppeting, specifically User:LOTRrules. Did you not see the sockpuppet notice? See Wikipedia:User_page#How_do_I_delete_my_user_pages.3F.--Otterathome (talk) 17:49, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

You should not have deleted any of the pages, as there is a lot of abuse coming from that particular user, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/LOTRrules/Archive. So I request you restore everything you deleted.--Otterathome (talk) 11:50, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
A user can request stuff deleted in his/her own userspace. If (and it's a huge IF), something is ever needed for any particular reason, any admin will be able to restore, or at the very least, view, anything deleted. Not worth restoring any of it. Moving along. Keeper | 76 03:40, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
If you read Wikipedia:User_page#How_do_I_delete_my_user_pages.3F, "Where there is no significant abuse and no administrative need to retain the personal information, you can request that your own user page and user subpages be deleted.". In this case, there has been significant abuse. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/LOTRrules/Archive. Oh good lord. They were subpages. I restored his userpage, because you were correct about the notice needing to stay there. I denied his request to delete his talkpage, per the guideline you cite. I denied his request to delete his talk archives on the same grounds. I only deleted his user subpages. They have nothing to do with any sockpuppet case. And to add a quote from the guideline you cite: If a user page was deleted because a contributor left, it may be restored by an administrator if the contributor returns, particularly if the history contains evidence of policy violations. He didn't retire, he was blocked for being incivil then replacing peoples user pages with ==White Trash== <big><big><big><big>Fuck off you white piece of trash. Fucking wiggers. I'm not disputing that he's been blocked. I'm not saying he should be unblocked. I don't care. I deleted his user subpages while clearing out CSD. If he requests an unblock (he hasn't to date), admins will take due diligence to be sure to look at any deleted edits and the sock history/block reason prior to unblocking. I didn't block him, I'm not unblocking him, and I'm not undeleting his user subpages full of useless templates that he created for himself and copies of existing articles. I'm also a bit perturbed, by the way, about your general crusade in this manner. Why is it that you are allowed, otterathome, to go around removing LOTR from lists, for example the inactive section of WP:CRIME, but when LOTR wants himself, literally, removed from Wikipedia, you want everything restored? Just to let you know Keeper that I got banned from Wikipedia because of my temper (its something I regret). This will be my last message to wikipedia so I'll make it brief. User:Otterathome has been stalking me over the past few months - thats why I wrote all those sweary messages. He has been vandalising my user pages under a different name (only a handful of users know that I'm Muslim, and few knew users know how to move userpages to "sandnigger"). So as a last request can you please open up a Sockpuppet case for User:Otterathome, he has proved disruptive and caused to say all those things (my brother did half the others - my accounts compromised). He has been blocked before. I think he hates me to be honest but I don't care I just want to edit. Each time I do this he stalks me and gets me caught under a different username. Don't believe his lies. Am I also right to say that new users don't know how to edit templates? He has been doing this many times over. Well I have a sneaky suspicion it was him under the username of user:Thank The Lordy. Even thought Thank The Lordy has been here in 2006 his edits number less than 20... Me and Otterathome have a history of conflict. I just want you to check it out. This guy is too zelous in his policy in attacking me personally. I mean just look at his contribs in the last couple of days This guy also wants to be a "potential admin" in the future...and just to let you know further under my new accounts I haven't been once disruptive (check the contribs for each of my usernames here). Thanks for the post. Of course, I've blocked your new account indefinitely under "block evasion", a technicality. I'll be looking into this, but it may take me several days (I'm about to disappear into the real world again). If any TPSers would like to look into these allegations, there are definitely some serious issues of hate-inspired stalking going on that if prove true, would spell a good deal of banhammering towards Otterathome, who has not left a very pleasant impression on me in his brief visits to my talk page. Obviously I can't do any investigation, but I'd just like to offer a word of advice to LOTRules, and it's this: be sure to behave at least no worse than your enemies, and ideally a lot better than them. You do realize I can't just give you "permission" to create an account and edit, right? You were blocked indefinitely for some rather elaborate, trollish, and offensive behavior over an extended timeframe, with multiple accounts. Asking for an unblock is one thing - do that on your talkpage as I recommended earlier. Requesting unblock on the premise that "someone was really bad to me first" isn't likely going to garner much sympathy. I don't know what else to tell you. Take a few weeks break (trust me from personal experience - it is VERY useful to step away in order to gain perspective). Stay completely off of Wikipedia. Don't associate anymore with this particular editor, or your previous editing. Start slowly, stay quiet, go back to what you liked about the place. And don't name your new account LOTRrules 4. Read WP:RTV, get a fresh start. But not right away. You'll be too tempted to try to pick up this battle. However, if you insist on fighting this battle, do it within the parameters that are there for you. User your talkpage that you are allowed to edit to draw attention to your plight - don't continue to sock. It only makes your situation worse everytime you show up to plead. I realize this user was being very abusive in his language. It was mostly due to the user: Otterathome (talk) being abusive as well.
He kept deleting his edits and just being an all-around bully. I looked on his contributions list and he basically looks around for images that aren't to his liking and deletes them as well as quotes or representations or other websites under the guise of 'GFDL uncompatability'. I don't know Otterathome personally, but I know LOTRules to a good extent and he lost his temper---plain and simple. As bad as that is (and its really bad), I can say he doesn't go looking around 'cleaning up' articles to his discretion.
If there is any hope of clearing this whole thing up I'll give some examples. InternetHero (talk) 19:48, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

Hi Keeper

As you pointed out, on this account i have very few posts, but on my old one i had a considerably larger amount. I changed it due to the fact i had a username that seemed funny at the time, but made me blush each time i posted on a talk page... i also do the vast majority of my edits anonymously so...yeah.

It's totally fine that you changed usernames, and that you don't have to divulge what your old username is. However, until this username that you currently have racks up more edits, there is no evidence of positive work to go on. Keeper | 76 22:06, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
On the other hand, it's rollback. /me coughs a bit "Who cares?" The most you can do is create a (revertable) mess, and that's pretty trivial to do with regular editing anyway. You seem like a nice enough guy (and I think we can assume good faith that you're not lying about your previous editing experience). I agree about rollback (not so sure about the "active" part though, :-) . I'm not talking about months of experience, I'm talking about some experience. Speedy decline at Colef

I am slightly confused. It seemed to meet G11, as the article says " we offer", is not cited to any reliable third party source that shows that it is notable. It makes no sense in several places, or is poorly translated psuedo-academese. All an article needs to do to avoid being speedy deleted is to assert some level of notability (sourced or not). Absolutely, clean it up, it certainly is in a state of disrepair. No worries from my end. It may very likely end up deleted. If you've never experienced WP:AFD, and you feel the article's subject not worthy (based on your own due diligence and researching for sources to verify and substantiate the article's noteworthiness), I recommend you bring it there. Many, many articles that pass through WP:CSD on grounds of "maybe, maybe not" end up at afd, and end up deleted as they should be. Hey Keeper, here's those "diffs" he wanted (he removed your message from his talk page by stating he wanted diffs otherwise he was "not interested" [1]). It is clear, by the dates on the permanent links, that he has been doing this many times. He has had a previous warning from another user [2] but chose to ignore it.

He has attempted to cover up his stalking behaviour by creating two sub pages with LOTRrules IP addresses - and they are ALL in connection with User:LOTRrules. Manipulation of policy

Otterathome has been consistantly spouting policy when other admins you know have warned him of this. He appears to be being disruptive again at this discussion. If this does not show how annoying and unproductive user:otterathome is then I don't know what will do. A possible sockpuppet of User:Otterathome would probably be user:Thank The Lordy - he has been known to rename user:LOTRrules sub pages to "archives of a sandnigger" - only surfaced in 2008 when LOTRrules and Otterathome were locking horns. Ditto. I'm done with this. Otterathome, your corner is over there. You've been sufficiently warned (and not just by me) about what you are incorrectly doing. You are out of bounds, and close to a block for stalking and disruption of the project. Stop posting as an IP, that's step one. It doesn't do anything for you, with me - or with anyone else. It is technically block evasion. Stop. The "injustice" that you are going on about is irrelevent. Turn other cheek, etc. You lashed out. You stooped to the level of those that you felt were offending you. You are rightfully blocked, I've checked your editing. Yes, you can be a good editor, I've seen that too. But your anger got the best of you. Another editor got the best of you. You need a break, you need to walk away from wikipedia completely, for at least a couple of weeks, to gain perspective. Trust me on this, please? I walked away from wikpedia essentially for 6 months to learn what it is, and what it isn't. It is not life, it is not much of anything really other than a fun experiment - a noble cause - and a lot of headache for the "editors in the trenches". Take a break. Start anew. Find new interests, drop the "injustice" pleas (it's getting you nowhere). The editor that pushed you to the extreme level of incivil posting has been thoroughly warned (by me and others) about his contentious editing. He won't continue lest he be blocked himself. Start fresh. Disappear, stop appealing as an IP, and move on. If someone is crusading against you, the easiest (and least successful) response is to crusade back. Be the bigger person? I can't believe it was last February that I went through all that mess for a couple of buttons - I do appreciate you taking the time to do it though, it was a really great thing for me. I had a mix of burnout, boredom and real life changing (apparently university starting really will mess around your free time), but I'm tempted to get back into things for a bit now. Thank you for participating in my "RecFA", which passed with a final tally of 153/39/22. There were issues raised regarding my adminship that I intend to cogitate upon, but I am grateful for the very many supportive comments I received and for the efforts of certain editors (Ceoil, Noroton and Lar especially) in responding to some issues. I wish to note how humbled I was when I read Buster7's support comment, although a fair majority gave me great pleasure. I would also note those whose opposes or neutral were based in process concerns and who otherwise commented kindly in regard to my record.
I recognise that the process itself was unusual, and the format was generally considered questionable - and I accept that I was mistaken in my perception of how it would be received - but I am particularly grateful for those whose opposes and neutrals were based in perceptions of how I was not performing to the standards expected of an administrator. WTF Joe Buck? Cross border means what? Is that different to interstate? I hate ESPN baseball but theree's nothing else on. WOW at Gardenhire in the 7th re: Mauer. Yeah aren't most sports games "cross border"? Yet he was making cross border rivalry to be something amazing and out of this world. I think what he was trying to say is that it's a regional rivalry because of the proximity of the teams. Green Bay-Minnesota in the NFL, although they're in the same division. I ♥ Mauer and Morneau. With Crede, Cuddyer, and Kubel, we are suddenly a power team instead of a piranha team. Go figure. Lots of fun to watch. It's pretty much expected that Mauer and Morneau will be on base 3 out of 4 at bats. If the pitching holds up (it is vastly improving every week, case in point last night), we are going to win the world series, Mauer will be both the AL batting champ and AL MVP, and will be the first to hit over .400 since Ted. A rare game that I got to watch live. To recap the ridiculous: Mauer started walking to first, the ump called him back and said it was not a HBP, but a foul tip. Mauer (Mr. Joe Cool, that is) actually looked upset. Gardy came out, raising holy hell and spitting tacks, the ump reversed the call. Brew-manager tried to raise a fit, but he was no match for gardy's tirade. Mauer to first, Morneau up: first pitch, upper deck. Game over. Simply beautiful. I cannot think of another time that a manager has been able to change an ump's mind. I think it surprised even gardy. And to concur, I despise the ESPN commentary. Blubbering fools that don't have the right flavor - unlike our brilliantly talented pitcher/pitchman. One of the best in the biz at calling the game - does the Fox Sports (north) broadcasts. Gotcha, missed the ump actually reversing the call. Just Gardy yelling and miraculously not getting tossed, and then Mauer to 1st. Haven't heard that his hand is injured, which is good. Mauer's one of the athletes who's just a good ball player - remember reading when he was hurt this winter, glad he's healthy enough to play ball. With my friends frequenting the Rochester Redwings games, they've seen lots of your boys play -- except from someone, name now forgotten, who we then realised was acquired from Tampa or somewhere. Only question with Morneau's ball was how far back. He makes it look easy - I think he hit three last weekend? Amazing. Only way I like to face either is with no one on. International Relief Missions page

Hello, I was informed that the International Relief Missons page was speedily deleted this evening. I understand the criteria set out. However, when I made the page I used another Wikipedia page as a template so I would not violate any criteria. I used the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association page. Our organization is not a club, rather a religious organization like BGEA. The information on the page is no different then what is on the BGEA page,only we go about the activity a different way. I used quite a bit of their language on the page as well. There should not be any copyright infringement, as our organization owns all copyrighted material. I actually don't think theres any copywrited material in the information. Anyway I modeled the page after one that is apparently ok on Wikipedia. I would like to request that the page be restored. Yeah. He's gotten more coverage than any catching prospect I've ever heard about. He's also going to junior college so he can get his GED earlier and be draft-eligible. Double switch

E-man (or other baseball fans here), you an AL fan or NL? If you're an NL fan or just know it better, can you explain the double switch in the middle of an inning to me? In b9, Yankees just pulled David Robertson for Mo, which makes total sense, but Melky for Nick Swisher too? I'm confuddled. Thanks StarM 02:56, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

The double switch is so that the pitcher's spot in the order can be changed. IOW, you want the pitcher to come up as late as possible. A double switch allows you to put the new player (coming in for another position player) in what was the pitcher's spot, and the pitcher flips with that guy. It's a little complicated, but let's say Melky Cabrera made the last out of an inning. You want the pitcher in Melky's spot in the order so he won't come up soon. Thus, you replace the pitcher and Melky, and the new pitcher takes Melky's spot in the order. Melky's replacement in the field would bat where the previous pitcher was batting (9th, assuming this was the first double switch). Enigmamsg 04:35, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

As fun as the "worst to first" 91 series was (one of the best of all time on most analysts lists), the 87 series was even better for twins fans, because it was so completely unexpected. At the time, we had the lowest regular season record for a WS champ (now surpassed by the more recent Cardinals, ironically). We weren't supposed to win. I was a huge Twinks fan, a bit younger, (my britches, was that really 22 years ago???) and living about 50 miles outside St Louis at the time. A bit tough to run around in my choice of fanfare. We did well against the Tigers, they are looking more and more toothless as the season drags on. White Sox are done, as are the Royals (at least four out of five starts. Indians are about to start the fire sale pre trade deadline. Twins are the only solid team throughout the lineup, both defensively, starting pitching, and any other important category. go Twins! I agree re: Mauer and Morneau, but I have to disagree on Nathan, at least as I saw him in May. I think he gets overused like others. I don't want to see Morneau with runners on in the baggie-dome. Baltimore and Cleveland are going to give Nationals run for their money for poor play - sad thing is they all have some talent. Don't get why we traded for Eric Hinske, but he apparently looked good today. I was relegated to Gameday while at the office. As I said to a friend today, I don't think the Yankees are going all the way, but I think they will make the playoffs. Decent game. Predictable outcome, although rather a fizzle of a game, all things considered. Not much for highlights. Twins had an impact, especially Nathan's crucial 8th inning with strikeout king at the plate. Mauer crossed the plate, and plated one as well. I can see Hank going after Mauer to crouch behind the plate wearing pin stripes. My buddy was calling the NL to win, but I went with AL. I was a bit worried, but luckily Adam Jones made that sac fly. Nathan did well, and my main man Mo closed out the game perfectly as usual. Here's my real question though: why didn't anyone try to stop Selig from giving home field advantage for the Series to the winner of the All-Star Game? That's an awful rule. Just FYI Kingpin, being in the bot section of the AWB checkpage doesn't make ones edits marked with the +b, you'll need the bot flag for that. This place is the very definition of insane in January. We've gone weeks without going above freezing. I believe the record in January is something like 6 days without climbing into positive temperatures (staying below 0deg F). Crazy place. We have a very nice skyway system though, so you never need to go outside if downtown. Of course, said skyway doesn't go all the way to the Dome, which is on the outside fringe of downtown MPLS. Heated floors. Nothing "natural" about the grass, other than it grows in dirt. It will be pre-heated to "fool" it into growing early (we generally don't mow anything naturally until mid-May or later, and we generally stop mid to late-September). I'm completely satisfied (holding out hope, but satisfied) in the season we put together, what with the injuries we've endured, and the payroll we have to work with. We have the deserving MVP and 3 time batting champion, we have the guy with the most saves in the big leages since 2002, (look it up, it isn't who you think). We have the most underrated hitter in the Bigs, we have a previous MVP, and none of them are the locker room captain. We might not get past Goliath this weekend, but we will dive, run, slide headfirst, bunt, steal, claw, scratch and kick until told to go home. And we do this without getting put in tabloids and dating princesses. Go. Twins. We probably won't win, but we'll have a hell of a time trying. I hate to disagree with you, but we have the deserving MVP. We also have the pitcher with the lowest postseason ERA and WHIP in history, as well as the most postseason saves. Can't forget the guy with the most homers in the AL, not to mention the pitcher with the second most postseason wins in history. We also don't have anyone that needs to be justified with subjective labels like "most underrated," or anyone that is currently on the bench with stress fractures. ;) The tabloid bits I'm not going to stoop to discuss, though I will mention that if Kate Hudson was going after me, I would probably do whatever she wanted. :) Anyway, best of luck to you guys, I'm sure it'll be fantastic baseball. You know deep down that the series could've very very easily been 2 games to 1 in the Twinks favor going into a game 4 tonight at the dome. You stole game two (well, actually, a horrific call in deep left field stole game two), and a baserunning blunder in game 3 by Punto handed you that one. In all his years as a Twink (the only remaining Piranha), I don't think I've seen Punto make a baserunning mistake. A bit disheartened at "what could have been", but overall, very satisfied, very proud of my boys, and very much looking forward to next spring. On to football! 5-0! Actually, I know in my heart that I'm surprised it was even that close, we should have kicked your asses much harder. :P The call in Game 2 was definitely wrong, but then again, so was the call against Inge in the Central tiebreaker, and you guys wouldn't even have made it to face us without that, so you really shouldn't be blaming anything on calls. Punto's mistake in Game 3 would only have tied the game IIRC, so it's not really logical to jump to conclusions there either. However, I do of course congratulate you guys, you played some good ball; Blackburn and Pavano were particularly impressive. :) StarM, as much as Mauer would be a good addition to the team, my guess is that we won't be going after him, we'll have our hands full outbidding the Red Sox for Aroldis Chapman (and maybe Yusei Kikuchi and Miguel Angel Sano), signing Chone Figgins, and possibly going for Jason Bay or Matt Holliday...though we may be able to get the latter for a discount after his gaffe in Game 2 against the Dodgers, heh. Don't actually want any of those other than Jason Bay, and that's only because we're grasping at ways to keep Matsui :) I thin the Yankees go after Mauer just because they can and we need a catcher. Montrero isn't going to catch and much as Cervelli is an upgrade over Molina, he's no one's #1 catcher. Personally I'd prefer to stay away from the Japanese market - other than Matsui we've done abysmally. Perhaps we need better scouts. Keeper, yes it will be interesting to see where we both stand come Jan 2, or thereabouts for the match up. (outdent) StarM, here's a bit of interesting reading on the Damon/Matsui situation; though my gut still tells me we'll be retaining Damon and letting Matsui walk if he wants to. Damon still has a bit of pop left in him; if Matsui hits anything besides a home run, he's virtually a guaranteed out by way of the fact that his knees don't let him run farther than a few feet without giving out completely. (Okay, a bit embellished, but still...) Matsui is decidedly a DH-only player, and we'll need the spot for Posada soon. I'm just not sure Mauer is going to be on the Yanks' list, even if the miniscule possibility of him escaping the Twins' clutches is realized. The move I don't understand so far? Granderson. Granted I missed the two Putty Tat series this year so have no recollection and I don't think we gave up that much, but it's an odd move. As is the pick in the Rule 5 draft. I'm finding it hard to get into baseball mode, even with an event I just worked where we honored the Muts and Yankees. I have to say Ron Darling and David Cone are two of the nicest gentlemen - and Ed Charles is a great story teller. I'm *really* hoping if we filet the Birds Sunday that we also win v. Not sure what their tipping point was when they cashed in for the year, but it's frustrating to watch after such a strong start, trust me I know. Looking back at who they beat to go 5-0 (all teams with losing records), and then who they lost to 5 straight to end up 5-5 (all teams that are in the playoffs), the giants really weren't that good this year to begin with. Middle of the pack team, if it's any consolation in any weird way. Vikes are truly good, but that's when they tend to disappoint the most. Farv included. He's still on Green Bay's payroll. If we play them next weekend (or in the NFC title game) the true Farv colors (green and gold) will show up in disastrous form. A bit conspiracy theory, yes. But I think all the "falling out" with the GB admin was all smoke and mirrors. The guy holds every record basically that exists for a quarterback, plus many records for football in general. Am rooting even harder for your Vikings next week since they (PLEASE!) need to issue the Cowgirls out of the playoffs. Giants seemed to die in Denver on Thanksgiving and I don't get it. They'd just beet Falcons and then beat the Cowgirls again. The only team that really made me nervous was the Packers, and AZ took care of them, although it took 51 points and 5 qtrs to take down Rodgers (man, that kid looks better and better every time I see him...) I'm nervous for the next 5-10 years where the vikes will have no one at QB, and GB will have Rodgers. This won't be a pretty decade for anyone else in the NFC north unless someone actually gets a QB (Cutler in Chicago? nope - Stafford in Detroit? Nope.) The 2010s will belong to the Pack. Seriously, that game was ridiculous. I expect more of the same from Arizona/Saints this weekend as well. My wish for this weekend? That all but the Ravens remember they need to play offense as well as defense. Ravens don't need to play defense. Agreed with your comments about Rodgers, he's been amazing to watch and is consistent. It' slike the Giants' 2nd loss to Philly where it was 45-38 or something like that. There's no way you should score that many points in an NFL game and not win. I knew though, no way Pack D would hold AZ, but didn't expect the turnover. Also with the way the game started who guessed it would go to OT? I was 1-4 last weekend, need to do better this one. Old Man QB better show up, but I read an interesting article on MVP analysis. My two least favorite teams are the Cowgirls and the Packers. Glad for today for you Star, I know how much you despise the Romo-rama drama boys. I think the NFC Championship game is going to be an amazing game. Favre vs. Brees and then either one vs. Manning if the Colts (please!) dismantle the Jests. I think Favre and Brees are two very different style QBs and while this has the potential to be a shootout, I think both QBs could also be running for their lives. I think it will be a very good game, watch it end up 10-7 or something. Yes, I hate Romo the Drama Queen. He does what he does best in important games but I was so happy that Favre hit Shiancoe for that last TD, cry babies back to Dallas with their Pants on the Ground. I'm OK with whoever wins, Vikings - Favre gets one step closer to his ring and retirement. Saints - finally make the Super Bowl for first time. Just please let the Colts win, please. For the sake of my sanity or whatever is left of it. ETA: when someone asked me who I "liked" for the SUper Bowl I said I like Colts/Vikings - but what I thought would actually happen was Packers/Chargers. Just showed I can go with my heart.

Great lineup, debut season for a new stadium. That's worked for other teams. It doesn't matter who Gardy puts on the field, he pulls the best out of the average every year. I don't pay too close attention to NL, at least not to start the season. Phillies look dangerous of course. I think the Giants are going to make a srs run for the West leaving the Dodgers in their Bay dust. No strong opinion on NL Central, other than it's always fun to watch the Cubs fall apart. AL East is depressingly talented, hopefully they underperform or Tampa makes another run at it. Feel bad for the B-Jays as always, should really move them to the AL Central and move Detroit to the East. My calls, if I must: Twins, of course (and not from fanaticism, from the very real talent on the team year after year), Yanks and Mariners. (yep, Mariners). Phillies, Giants, Cards. Wild cards Diamondbacks and a sleeper with no pressure or expectations for the AL wild: Royals. (not R-sox, they don't have it this year). Central is capable of pulling 2 into the postseason, as much as AL Easters seem to think it will always be RSx/yanks. The Red Sox "don't have it this year," and the Royals as the AL wild card? Are we watching the same sport? :P The Red Sox signed a new center fielder, third baseman, shortstop, and starting pitcher; the Royals have done next to nothing. The Sox have arguably the meanest rotation in all of baseball (yes, including the Yanks), the Royals have Zack Greinke and a bunch of scrubs. While I still think the Yanks' heavy offense will carry them to the AL East crown again this year, the Red Sox will be hard on their tail all year, and should be a lock for the wild card. Sorry to disagree, Keep, but the Royals have as much chance as a snowball in hell. If you check that link though, you'll see that I actually concur with you about the Mariners; their 1-2-3 spots in their rotation are going to be great and they've signed other new people as well. Combined with the weakening of the Angels, I think they've got the AL West by a long shot. The Royals made virtually no changes, but they had small successes all year last year (and also some of the same perennial troubles). They are building in confidence. I'm not saying the Royals will be a dynasty of any sort, just that they're gonna win enough games this year to make postseason. The will gel as a team, they've played together for a couple of years and they are extremely well coached (Trey Hillman reminds me of Gardenhire a ton). Consistency wins baseball games. If only all admins would see most bullshit left on usertalkpages as rhetoric, this place would be so much fucking easier to build up as an encyclopedic resource. I retired over a year ago because admins/wonks are getting in the way, with few exceptions, to this place actually becoming an accurate resource instead of just an overly vandalized experiment in open-editing. Do you want a challenge, RxS? Review Malleus' mainspace contribs. Filter out the usertalk. He is undoubtedly One of the Best, since the inception of Wikipedia. Accurate, sourced, and most importantly, readable entries come from Malleus. Is he a prick? Sure. So what? Who the fuck reads talk pages and wikipedia: pages other than wonks? He pisses me off (piss in the American sense) with his commentary on talk pages and user talk. So the fuck what. He is a contributor. 99.9% of wikipedia's readers never click on "talk" on any page. They don't give a fuck who wrote it, they simply need to trust it. Malleus, and thousands of others, are making this site readable, accessible, and reliable. More than I will ever be able to accomplish, even if I actually tried. Once and a while, he tells someone to fuck themself or calls them a waste of space. No need to review his contribs, they're great no argument. I also don't disagree that there's a lot of admins that are making life difficult for mainline editors. But, I continue to insist that how people talk to each other (and more importantly) disagree with each other has a critical place in Wikipedia's long term success. And when someone consistently gets away with rude and incivil behavior it undermines the whole culture of interaction. That has the potential of doing far more damage than the constant level of good editing someone might do. We need a constant stream of incoming editors, who do look at talk pages. I know this is cliche, but we have hundreds, thousands of good editors making hundreds of thousands of edits. The loss of one good...great editor won't make any difference to speak of. But the damage of a single long term "prick" can undo all that good. I implore you to find one, even one comment of Malleus (or fill in the blank with any other incorrigible), where Malleus is discouraging, disrespectful, or derogatory to a newer editor or non-admin. Spoiler alert: you won't find it. Malleus has a problem with "editors" that have adorned a robe of "civility" for the "sake of Wikipedia's future". Who decided that this encylopedia is only going to be successful if everyone is uber-nice to each other? Sure, that would make it really lovely and cotton-candy wonderful. But who cares, really? The point is that it is accurate, and most readers don't really care how it is accurate, just that it is. My first interactions with Malleus were also of the "WTF" sense, wondering why he was such a "douchebag". I've learned that he, more than most normal editors, really really wants this website to represent the utmost of accuracy of information. And he tells people to fuck off that get in the way of that. But it's not such a granular thing as a single interaction biting a newbie, it's a cultural thing. One editor gets away with telling someone to fuck off, then someone defends it and joins in. Then there's 3 then 4, at some point it becomes an acepted way of disagreeing with each other. It's at that point that it becomes an exclusive place rather than an inclusive place. Someone wanders in and sees us all barking at each other and slowly backs out. Sure, plenty of people don't mind that, but plenty do mind it and would choose not to get involved. So the questions is why do we pay that price just so we can be rude to each other when we feel like it? Why go into it knowing that we're putting up a barrier to a certain amount of new editors? I honestly don't care who tells who what to fuck. I want a better, more accurate encyclopedia. Can it be built faster without all the "fuck off"s? I don't know. We agree in our disagreement. If Malleus was gone, would this website, in general, be more pleasant? Perhaps. But at what cost? He's a hell of a writer, and I'd rather (for the reader's sake) have a really pissy talkpage in order to have a really accurate mainpage. I'd dismantle the teenage admin troupe in a heartbeat in order to keep Malleus. What I do know, and what I'll continue to do because of what I know, is defend those that (regardless of personal hygiene or respectfulness towards other "editors") have an uncanny way through talent, dedication, and savvy, improve this website, even if at the sake of the pleasantness of the "environment" of the editors. Anyway... so the central question we need to answer is "how many quality contributions must one make before they are immune to blocking from some facets of the civility policy?" RxS, you'd say that contribs don't matter, while Keeper would say that it depends on the person. I think that I would put forth what is basically a combination of your viewpoints; I think that contribs do matter, because someone who is improving the encyclopedia (what we are supposed to be doing) to a great extent has earned a lot of leniency. In my view, to give two examples, MF wouldn't be blocked at the moment, while Giano would; the former may be sarcastic and just plain bullheaded at times, but he has many quality contribs (if I had a dollar for every time I saw the words "after a copyedit from Malleus...") and makes some very relevant and needfully blunt statements when needed, something many others are afraid to or won't do. I'm not familiar with drummerworld either, but the site strikes me as one guy's "blog" about drumming (again, I'm no expert though to know the notability of his list that he's created). I have no problem undeleting and userfying the article for you to work on (the deleted version was deleted nearly 2 years ago and is fairly spammy. You might be better served just starting over? The Subconscious

This week, I noticed two articles with multiple mentions of the subconscious, which does not exist. I haven't done anything with bots, so I'm unsure whether it's possible to create a bot that changes the word subconscious to unconscious, the correct term. It's a very incorrect term that many people, including Freud, absolutely despise. When people read "subconscious" on the internet, it only spreads a term that should have died a long time ago. It's like using the word "mongoloid" instead of "down syndrome" in a ton of entries. I was thinking that since there's a bot that corrects unsigned comments, it would be possible to correct the use of "subconscious." I guess I'll have to look around for some information on bots. Using a bot simply to substitute one word for another as you describe strikes me as a supremely poorly thought-out idea. You could be completely ignoring what the sources say, and perhaps even change direct quotes inadvertly. I've toyed around with getting tix for the yank series, but prices are too high (and it's sold out as every game so far at the new field has been), and I have every game televised between Fox Sports North and MLB network. So apparently, Tan told it like he saw it as he usually does, and from what I have been able to find and read, it was entirely deserved/warranted/and community appreciated that Tan spoke his mind. So tired of seeing all the local news media drooling over this like it's actually a story. I recall last year commenting that I thought it was a huge mistake to latch onto his bandwagon, and was pleasantly surprised (and ate a lot of crow with my RL friends) to see him succeed. I won't comment about the wisdom of bringing in a 41yr old dinosaur. I hope he does well. The first game (against the Saints) will dictate my feelings about the season and his ability to complete a season with a bum ankle and shoulder. But anywho, it's friggin August. So I had no idea who Valencia was when you mentioned him previously, but I just watched a very nice walk off hit on MLB Network. Your Twinkies are impressing me. Oh and I just read a fun book called "Twinie, Deconstructed". Good reading if you're at all into food or nutrition. Happy with Yankees' play too. ARoid who? Tex has finally woken up. I admit, antsy for football too. I get random wiki stuff in my inbox and I'm half tempted to just turn off my e-mail account if I remember how to do that. I just have no interest besides coming here to chit chat. Couple games in the last couple weeks . Craziness? Mets had a metal lunchbox giveaway in a bad season. Lunacy, that one. 'bout time we benefit from his swing, as he absolutely decimated the twins for the majority of the 90s when in Cleveland during their good run. I honestly think he should win comeback player of the year. Simply amazing. 8 games up on the blank-sox. Just took the first two by scores of 9-3. It is a really good time to be a Twins fan. Yankees fans should fret, we've finally put together a full arsenal - starting pitching, hitting, defense, and relief pitching, all very high ranked and consistent, consistent, consistent. No weak spots, no glaring holes. It is the Twins year, and I'm allowing myself to dream - risking the heartbreak, all or nothing. It Must be the Twins this year. Kudos to the Twinkies

The Twins lost their All-Star closer to Tommy John surgery in March. They lost their MVP candidate first baseman to a concussion in July. Their reigning MVP catcher's OPS is down 150 points from a year ago. Going in and along the way there was much reason to doubt. In the end they become the first team to clinch. Congratulations 2010 Minnesota Twins, you defied expectations and adversity. This moment is yours. yoinked from here but very true. Congrats and kudos. What a wonderful evening I had last night, staying up late to watch the final collapse of the palehose on the west coast, and then staying up to watch my boys dump champagne on each other. Time to get out the parkas and mukluks, folks, there's a chance of snow in the playoffs this year!!!. What a great season, I'm on cloud nine, although with the team that was assembled this year, and the superiority of the farm system for the twins, there is never a doubt and always a chance. I'm still hoping for best AL record, hoping the yanks/rays keep each other down in the win column. Danny Frickin Valencia. Old man Thome. Delmon Young finally living to his potential. Morneau who? Whoa, no way Cuddyer is in there. Losing in the first round a few times doesn't come close to 65 games. Plus Cuddyer isn't even that old. I'm going to go with veterans who have been on some good teams. Manny Ramirez went to the playoffs with Cleveland and Boston of course and he has to have a good amount of games by now. Ding Ding for the Mystery Man. Manny and Chipper are two. Oddly I didn't get Manny but I knew Chipper and Andruw off the bat because I was thinking of the Braves' run. Hard part was active eliminating the pitchers and a number of the players. Other one was Manny teammate. Big Papi. I was surprised Mauer not on the list since it seems Twinkies always in it but I forget he's "only" been around since '04. Active eliminates Kirby, who was closest Twinkie I think. Road teams 5-0 in AL playoffs. RE: Mauer Yeah, he's young. I remember when Minnesota drafted him out of high school over Mark Prior. They didn't think they'd be able to sign Prior, but it worked out anyway. The Twins have been to the playoffs, but part of accumulating a lot of games is more than just making it. The division series is best of 5, while the LCS and WS are best of 7. The last time Minnesota made it past the ALDS was 2002. Doesn't look like this is their year either. Yankees up 2-0 in Game 3. Yeah the road teams are an interesting phenomenon. Glad to see that ended tonight in the Bronx. As I said to Keeper on my page, Twins just seem to get it in their head that they can't - and then they don't. Sad. Always next year I guess. Nice win tonight. Odd heroes in Berkman and Thames, not what we'd have thought going into this year. Twins, Yankees, Sox and Angels seemed to be most common in post season 2000-2010, wonder what 2011-2020 will hold. And now, the user him/her self is an editor, following bravely in his mother's footsteps, and is graciously (and to the betterment to society as a whole) also an archaeologist/geologist and Wikipedian?. What is that, like 20+ years later? Exactly how long has this person believed Wikipedia to be around - or the Internet, for that matter? Ah, ha! Had I known, I might have visited you in my trips to Mayo. Instead, I wandered around lost thanks to road-construction-induced lack of signage, that really pissed me off. If a major intersection is under construction, do 'ya think the good folk could put up a sign so "tourists" know where to exit? You seem to have hit all the key negative points and some lingo in your list above, but you missed the positive ones :) And something must be done about those sports teams ... "Trips to Mayo" are generally not for good reasons, but you couldn't have gone to a better place. Hope all is well in that regard. And don't feel bad from the tourist perspective, Minnesotans don't know where the hell to drive either, with or without road construction. You'd think with all of our "Minnesota nice-ness" we'd learn how to merge correctly onto the freeway. I've been this close to running old ladies off the on-ramp, with the justification that prison time would be much more tolerable than entering 6 lanes of traffic going 35 mph behind a buick lesabre...Keeper | 76 04:37, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I was accompanying my father to Mayo-- not to worry. Buick LeSabre reminds me of the 1962 Ford Falcons-- still manufactured at least as late as 1986-- in Argentina!
