A tag has been placed on SmartPlanetCMS, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JonHarder talk 02:13, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

smartplanetcms - speedily deleted from Wikipedia[edit]

Hi, I'm not sure what is the problem with article SmartPlanetCMS. if you check the article Conquestcms, ExpressionEngine and etc that listed in Comparison_of_content_management_systems, there are basically the same. What these article do is only give some introductory on the system. It's just like introduction to SQL Server. Please let me know your thought. Thanks

Information.svg Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to SmartPlanetCMS. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Thank you. Wildthing61476 15:31, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

external link[edit]

Do you mean that if i remove the external link, my article will be ok? How about Conquestcms, ExpressionEngine and SQL Server? Any reason these system allowed to link to their official website and SmartPlanetCMS not allowed to do so? thanks KeithChee 15:48, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

The problem is not that you have a link, it's that your link is the only source of information about the company. In order to be concidered encyclopedic, a company must have been the subject of multiple secondary sources. See Wikipedia:Notability. If you believe those other articles are non-notable, submit them for deletion too. Jaksmata 15:55, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Promoting your own products[edit]

Information.svg If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

Accounts used solely for blatant self-promotion may be blocked indefinitely without further warning.

perak.info[edit]

Kindly refer to WP:LINKS. I see that you have been admonished previously for adding links that are considered as spams by a number of people now. Therefore, please do not add the removed links anymore. __earth (Talk) 16:20, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

I am being polite but it is a warning nevertheless. And I have answered your question and please refer to the link given. If you are too pressed for time to read the policy, from the top of my head, at least several reasons why your website should not be included.
  1. It does not provide any information that Wikipedia cannot provide. Read the subsection "Links normally to be avoided" in WP:LINKS.
  2. It tries to sell something. [1]
  3. If you are related to the website, then WP:COI.
  4. There is already an official tourism site for Perak. [2] The site perak.info is basically another tourism site (with the purpose of getting traffic for adsense, I suspect). __earth (Talk) 05:08, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
  1. Page Perak is about the state in general, not about any particular place of interest. It is not about tourism. perak.info is more about tourism.
  2. Now that you have realize it, shouldn't that solve the issue?
  3. You find it useful not but it violates Wikipedia rules. So, it would be best if you use it for yourself.
  4. Not really. The tourism Malaysia has no than perak.info has to offer. For instance, compare this page from tourism Malaysia [3] and perak.info [4] __earth (Talk) 06:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
  1. No. Just as what Bob K said, this is an encyclopedia, not place for all information. WP:5P. Official site however is acceptable. WP:LINKS (Check under What should be linked section)
  2. Maybe not your problem but it is the site's problem. The site certain in violation of no advertising rule. WP:LINKS
  3. Wikipedia is a place for sharing but not all information deserved to be shared here. They should be shared elsewhere. WP:NOT. And no. I am not insulting you. It's just the rules.
  4. Refer to WP:LINKS about official site being acceptable __earth (Talk) 10:20, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
