Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, KingEdwardVI, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was King Edward VI Community College, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Thank you. I am really finding all of this very confusing. I am merely trying to update the numbers on role, as they are wrong and pull into our Google homepage. No conflict of interest; just ensuring everything is up to date. I have copied the page and added some edits in Usperspace Draft, but again have no idea if I have done this correctly.KingEdwardVI (talk) 11:08, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi KingEdwardVI, you say you have no conflict of interest but you are in violation of our username policy as "KingEdwardVI" may imply shared use or a company/organisational name. Are there any alternative names you can swap to? See WP:CHANGEUSERNAME. As for your changes, you cannot add anything that could be construed as being promotional. Adding the word "beautiful", for instance, is not neutral. Anarchyte (talkwork) 13:45, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, you say above that you are just updating the numbers on role, but in fact you have removed some newspaper coverage of the school's uniform policy. I have reverted your changes. As you have a conflict of interest, you should not update the article directly, but request changes on the article's Talk page. Tacyarg (talk) 16:16, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Replacement of Uniform Section

[edit]

Please help me with... You mention heading of 'change to numbers on roll'. This was previous heading for previous alteration, already completed. Not sure how that got in there. Latest request was to replace out of date Uniform section, which contains no useful information on uniform and is very out of date. Section would be better utilised with information on school Curriculum, [1]

Draft: Curriculum The school curriculum follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales and offers French and Spanish for a compulsory modern foreign language. Students choose 4 GCSE subjects, alongside Maths, English Language, English Literature, Science and Physical Education, which are all compulsory. Students also have the option of studying the English Baccalaureate (EBacc).

The school also has Kennicott sixth form for students to take A Levels, AS Levels, BTEC National Diplomas and EPQs. (KingEdwardVI (talk) 09:17, 28 April 2021 (UTC)) KingEdwardVI (talk) 09:17, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite sure there is a question in here - RichT|C|E-Mail 18:46, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.
While user names that are the names of organizations are not permitted, you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Foundation", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87". Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.
