Spanish disambiguation page[edit]

Could you tell me what is a link to Castilian Spanish doing in the Spanish disambiguation page ? Why not include Rioplatense Spanish, Canarian Spanish, etc. etc. ? --Jotamar (talk) 22:50, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

You're right, it's better to give an explanation for deletions. I'll try to think of it next time :-) --Jotamar (talk) 21:20, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Amerindian Languages in Belize[edit]

Hi there. My bad, I read wrong and confuse it with Spanish. I missed a couple of sentences between Spanish and Amerindian. Edit fixed, my apologies. JC 19:40 11 September 2008 (PST)

Template:African American ethnicity[edit]

Hello. You expressed an interest in the pictures in the photo montage in Template:African American ethnicity that appears in the article African American.

I'd like to settle on some new pictures in the montage, and I'd appreciate your opinion. Please join the discussion at Template talk:African American ethnicity#Malik Shabazz & Therock40756 Edit-war Discussion.

Latin America demographics table[edit]

I set up a section to discuss good sources for this table here in order to avoid an edit war. Please state what sources would be acceptable so we can get a consensus. NJGW (talk) 22:48, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

What do you mean? It's been a great controversy on the internet since Firday, it should definately be added. - (talk) 02:55, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

White americans[edit]

please be a bit more aware when engageing in your edit war with editor ballestrain that he is also removeing the admixure rate among white americans section this is like the third time i had to fix it--Wikiscribe (talk) 14:10, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

its not a matter if somebody is for the admixture section or against it, its sourced and has been up there for a while all its saying is a many white americans may have some non white ancestors.

Off topic[edit]

Sorry, I had no intention even taking part in the discussion never mind going off topic, but did feel I had to put the previous editor right concerning socialism. For what it's worth, if anyone can find a source that says the EU is a superpower then I'm a communist! :) Jack forbes (talk) 00:34, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

"Incomes policies."[edit]

Though it admittedly sounds odd, it really is "incomes policy/ies."

Suffice it to say that, as an inconsequential point, I won't insist on it.

Best wishes. Sherlock4000 (talk) 03:44, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

White Americans[edit]

  • I need you to explain why you reverted my edits. I think there is confusion as to why you think I removed the stated links. The Scythian 05:42, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Hello, again. Well, you are not correct in assuming my edits are due to a false notion that "Middle Eastern Americans" are not counted as "white" by official U.S government agencies. They most certainly are, and hence why I did not remove the "Middle Eastern" or "North African" templates from the article, nor did I attempt to edit out any other connection between Arab, Iranian and Turkish Americans and the substance of the article. I simply found it rather strange that, Iranian Americans, Arab Americans and Turkish Americans, none of which make for a terribly huge element of the white American demographic, had their own individual related links within the article, but not other major groups defined as "white" in the U.S. I understand that most fall under the European American category, but it still seems odd to me. Hence, my reasoning. I hope that explains my actions, and avoids any confusion, even if we disagree. The Scythian 05:57, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
You know, come to think of it, you are probably right about "Arab Americans". After all, Arab Americans come from something like 22 different nations, where as Iranian Americans and Turkish Americans literally come from a single nation, and hence are a nationality as opposed to a large multinational ethnic group. Do you think I should re-add Arab Americans to the list? The Scythian 06:11, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Actually, if you could help me out on this article, it would be great. It would seem other editors do not seem to understand the purpose of my removal of content, and are re-adding the links as well, without discussion. The Scythian 16:25, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello Kman543210! I see that you have reverted several editor saying (probably correctly from what I can see) that they are sockpuppets. They seem mainly or only to edit in Spanish people, Hispanic and Latino Americans, Latino (demonym), Template:Hispanic and Latino Americans, List of Hispanic and Latino Americans, Latino, Category:Norwegians of Spanish descent, and Category:People of Spanish descent. I'm speaking of editors such as (maybe not all):

If these are sockpuppets something must be done about it. Do you think they are sockpuppets of Gonbal2 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · edit filter log · block user · block log)? The Ogre (talk) 16:37, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

I've warned and admin - see User talk:Ioeth. Let's see if he can do something about it! Cheers. The Ogre (talk) 17:53, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
He just said this for you in my talk page:
WP:SSP and WP:RFCU are where to go to report sockpuppets, Kman543210. It doesn't matter if you can or can't tell what the main account is. The purpose of filing reports on those pages is to have administrators and other users look at the reports and try to make sense of it all. CIA and Latin America[edit]

Hi, I reverted your edit to Latin America because the original Statesman source was already in place above, but I should have looked more closely at who I was reverting (a regular). In any case the matter of the numbers in this table really needs to be hashed out, as every third day a new editor comes and changes things one direction or another no matter what the source is. NJGW (talk) 11:07, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

The Statesman actually does give a list of sources, but it doesn't explain what figures come from which sources... not too helpful. The Factbook actually says Argentina is 97% white (3% Meztizo and other), which I find pretty hard to swallow... though I've never been to Argentina and I understand there are many whites there. The anon you mentioned did provide a better source back in September explaining the problems with some of the numbers. I think the best sources might be each country's own censuses, with caveats where ever wp:RS's say a problem with the "official" numbers exist. It's more work, but also more correct. You know much more than I do about the language, so I will defer to you on the matter; but I thought you might want to know that the piping in the locations column of the Spain... on the road Again table was to preserve the spelling used by the show. —MJBurrage(TC) 13:10, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello Kman and thank you for helping me keep the Portuguese-Equatorial Guinea articles comply with WP:V. I have been terribly busy lately and haven't been able to patrol them as efficiently. By the way, if you have some time, could you please make the necessary changes to this article, so that it too will have EG removed until we have a clear confirmation that Portuguese has become official there? Thanks. :-) Best regards, Húsönd 19:27, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

French Community of Belgium[edit]

I think you are not right. On the international plan, the official name of the French community of Belgium is [2]. It is a kind of a Federation. José Fontaine (talk) 12:45, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't say you are absolutely wrong. But there is a great dispute about that both in Wallonia and Brussels. That's the reason why in the international affairs but also in Belgium itself, people are speaking of Wallonie-Bruxelles. There is also a difficulty about the name itself vis-à-vis the French. In French, when you are speaking of a "Communauté" (for instance the "Communauté américaine de Belgique"), it is the people of a foreign country living in an other country. There is an actual story about that. In a "Sommet de la Francophonie" Président François Mitterrand asked to the President of the French community of Belgium: How many members have you in your club?. So it may be understood that the "Communauté française de Belgique" is gathering the French who are living in Belgium. It is also right to say that this Community is a Federating unit, so a kind of State and normally a State is based on a territory. Wallonia and Brussels are territories. On the other hand some Flemings don't like this name because there are also Flemish people in Brussels depending on the Flemish community (but less than people depending on the FC). In order to communicate, the French community is often using the words Wallonie-Bruxelles. The politicians are saying "En Wallonie et à Bruxelles" (which are two separate Regions). I prefer Wallonie-Bruxelles but - how shoul I say? - wait and see. José Fontaine (talk) 13:37, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi Kman,

I stumbled by chance with this one Villava with the infamous slash pattern we know. I would move it to Villava only (fortunately Miguel Indurain was born there, which means that google can shed light on the matter of which name has been received in English: that is, overwhelmingly, Villava over Atarrabia).

However, I dont know how to create the redirect for Atarrabia. Would you do that for me? Being Basque an official language I think it still deserves have its redirect here in wikipedia. Mountolive le déluge 02:04, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

ps. (unsurprisingly by now) looks like at [Category:Municipalities in Navarre] there are a few extra cases...and I bet there is a similar view at Basque ones...
thanks a lot, also for showing me how to make a redirect! Mountolive le déluge 15:57, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Forum on US talk page[edit]

Are you not going to delete the previous editors comment? What is helpful about "AWESOME!!! It must suck in the UK without guns, no really it must." My reply, " no we are quite happy thanks very much" gets deleted? Please explain why. Thanks. Titch Tucker (talk) 22:58, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I have reverted it back. Now, if you want to delete the comment that the UK must suck without guns I will be more than happy to delete my comment. Thanks. Titch Tucker (talk) 23:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

That's all very well and good my friend. I could make a salient point then add something a little derogatory about a country which has no relation to the article. Would that be ok? Titch Tucker (talk) 23:16, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I think I replied in a polite way. Trust me, I won't be getting into any kind of silly argument. It was a curteous reply to what I believe was a silly comment. That's the end of it. Titch Tucker (talk) 23:27, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your well-intended "direction". My sole purpose is to improve the article, by eliminating pro-USA bias. A copy of this message will be left on you Talk Page. (Your previous comments on the Talk Page of the Article hardly measure up to the standards you set for others.) A copy of this message will be left on your talk page. Hi Kman.

I dont fully get the redirects system. You explained me some days ago how to make one (thank you). Now the question is how to make a redirect the main page and vice versa. I mean, if you type Autonomous Communities of Spain (with a capitalized "Community") you get redirected to "Autonomous communities of Spain" (with uncapitalized "community").

I tried to move the page, but, apparently, the capitalized version is already created but serves as redirect. How can we make this the other way?

In my opinion, the capitalized "Community" should be the basic page, since it serves to distinguish the Spanish constitutional concept "Autonomous Community" from other "communities" around the world. Mountolive le déluge 22:35, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Edit summaries[edit]

Hey Kman! A little heads up: don't forget to preface user names with "User:" (for example: "rv vandalism by User:"). Otherwise the link ( points to article space, not the user page. Cheers. SamEV (talk) 01:02, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Northern Ireland[edit]

On a rv, you stated that "not only unsourced, but even w/ source, is just trivia". You have obviously little knowledge of Derry/Londonderry as Stroke City is a VERY well known phrase[1], frequently used in Northern Ireland and serves to highlight how entrenched the naming dispute has become. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 07:18, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, haven't seen you around for a while!

I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on something. A few months ago when we were having the innumerable off-topic arguments at Talk:German language I and a few other editors archived the non-article-related content to an archive or removed it, per WP:TPG. I feel that the situation there both on the talk page and the article has improved as a result.

Another talk page I watch, Talk:Alsace has been suffering much worse - at the latest its size was 97k, the vast majority of which was either general speculation on the nature of Alsace with no specific relation to the article content, or discussions that had finished. I archived this material and left a note, but one of the IP's involved has reverted twice, calling me arrogant and guilty of censorship.

Having experience of Talk:German language, I just wondered if you could give a third opinion on the matter in this case. Thanks for your time! Best, Knepflerle (talk) 11:35, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
