Hello! I'm The Arbiter, one of the coordinators for WikiProject Zoo. I am proud to announce the launch of a new portal: Portal:Zoos and Aquariums! ZooPro, ZooFari, and I worked hard to create a new portal for information on zoos, aquariums, and the associated projects and articles on Wikipedia. If you could head on over, take a look at our work, and maybe learn some more about zoos and Wikiproject Zoo, it would be great! Cheers and Happy Editing!

The article Urban-pull factors is being discussed concerning whether it is suitable for inclusion as an article according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Urban-pull factors until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Science lovers wanted![edit]

Science lovers wanted!
Smithsonian logo color.svg
Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! Sarah (talk) 19:34, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

The Barnstar You Gave Me...[edit]

Thank you for the barnstar, but in the future, please post it on my talk page instead of on my user page; as you may have realized, it took me three days to notice it on my user page, but if it were on my talk page, I probably would have seen it in less than twenty-four hours. Welcome to WikiProject Zoo[edit]

Welcome to the Zoo project. There is plenty of work to do here, regardless of what type of work you like doing. If you want to create new articles, you can go to List of zoos (or any other zoo list in here) and work on red-linked articles. I have a template in my sandbox that a couple of editors have found handy. If you prefer working on existing articles, you can go to the Zoo articles by quality page and find plenty of articles to work on. You can find redirects on this page as well, each of which represents a possible new zoo article. Additional instructions and suggestions can be found on the article requests page. If you are at a loss and need a project, just let me know and I can point you to things that need doing.

Remember to cite the information that you add (see WP:Verify). If you are uncomfortable making citations, just include the URL of where you got the information in square brackets "[ ]", let me know, and I will expand the citation. If you are working on a local zoo that you know well, this is particularly important because your own observations don't count here (see WP:OR). If you start a new article, remember to include {{WikiProject Zoo}} on the talk page so that it appears on the assessment radar.

Thank you for joining the project. Don Lammers (talk) 15:58, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

July 2012[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please make sure to include an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! GotR Talk 16:51, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Coord elections[edit]

Hi Knight, welcome to the Military History Project coordinator elections. Feel free to run if you want to ... and for all I know, you may be a fantastic military historian that we'd be lucky to have ... but you've got less than 500 edits, and more than half of those are in your user-space, so it will be hard for people to evaluate whether you'd be a good candidate or not, and you may wind up feeling a little bit out of place. Is there some work you've done outside of Wikipedia that you can point to that would help us get to know you better? - Dank (push to talk) 19:32, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Milhist coordinator election[edit]

Hi, just to advise that you should try to answer any additional questions beneath your nomination, so that people can get to know more about you, before they vote, given that you are a new face to the project. Check back regularly until the 28 September, just incase anyone has more questions to ask before the voting ends. Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Coordinators/September 2012#Comments and question for Knight of Gloucestershire. Regards, Ma®©usBritish{chat} 14:49, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

Just so you know, this will be your last chance to answer your unanswered questions before the election starts. Voting is scheduled to commence at 00:00 today, so if you would like to get ahead of the count then you should get to your questions no later than 23:59 today. Thank you for the invitation to the meeting but sadly I'll be away for the day so I can't and won't be attending the Meeetup. Please send my regards to the others, cheers. Have a brilliant Meetup. Knight of Gloucestershire (talk) 16:09, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

New Wales Coast Path WikiProject[edit]

Living Paths! Logo

As a member of WikiProject Wales, WikiProject Cardiff or an user who has contributed to Welsh articles we invite you to contribute to a new project, Living Paths!: articles, images, translations... Lonely Planet rated the coast of Wales "the best region on Earth" in 2012, yet there is a very low number of articles on the history and culture of places along the Coastal Path. This promises to be an exciting project as it gathers momentum with many Users joining in across the world.

If you are interested in training groups in Wales, please leave a message on the Talk Page.
Let's make this WikiProject, like the path itself, the best on earth! And let's put Wales back on the map!

WikiProject Zoo[edit]

I would like to know if you are still an active participant in the WP:ZOO, If you are please confirm by way of responding on my talk page and or Wikipedia:WikiProject Zoo/Members. I am just trying to get an idea of how many people are still engaged in the project as to better work out how to manage and address things that are listed in the project. Kind Regards Dan Koehl (talk) 10:47, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Project Zoo[edit]

I write to you regarding Wikipedia:WikiProject Zoo/Members where you are presently listed under active members. The project is sadly rather inactive and in severe need of active members. Maybe you would kindly consider investing some efforts and time, as well as inspiring others? best regards, Dan Koehl (talk) 18:46, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Grace Musgrove[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Grace Musgrove has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Schwede66 20:53, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge[edit]

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:00, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
