Inaccurate Support count may reduce reviews?[edit]

Lewismaster, IIRC the script that shows Support counts now has the metal article at 6, but I think I count 4 actual supports. 6 just feels considerably higher than 4, for some intuitive reason, and may reduce reviews since people might assume it;s a shoo-in rather than sitting on the fence between "promote" and "not promote".. Perhaps you could move the section debating "movement" to the FAC's Talk page. I think the issue is resolved, and I think that section is confusing the script... but the only question is... I seem to recall that the comments in that section were slightly ambiguous (to me at least) in another way.. for some of the comments in that section, it was unclear to me whether they were supporting "movement" or supporting the whole article.. if it is actually unclear, perhaps that needs to be clarified (?).. anyhow, good luck  Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 01:21, 14 May 2016 (UTC)

I don't know how the IIRC script that you mentioned works, but I counted 5 supports for the article: Graham Beards (at the very beginning), 3family6, Tony1, Ceoil and Mirokado. The only one who appears to support only the "movement" term is Nuro. I'll try to ask him and the others who were in that discussion to clarify their positions. Lewismaster (talk) 17:47, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
IIRC means "if I recall correctly". With 5 supports incl. ceoil and graham, I think you're a shoo-in. Congrats.  Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 01:18, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
Re Barnstar: Ha ha I spent more time giving you grief than helping you. And you don't have the bronze star yet. But thanks for the Barnstar anyhow... Cheers. [Ps it might be just about time to archive this talk page... perhaps... maybe...]  Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 13:06, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
It was lively discussion, but you gave me more good advice than grief. You improved the text of the article and made me discover scripts and templates. That's your barnstar for sure! Lewismaster (talk) 21:12, 15 May 2016 (UTC)

(undent) thanks and congrats again. I have a question. In the sentence below, what does "bands of the first group" mean? Does it mean American bands?
"This style, which resembled that of mainstream American acts, was favoured by the media and found a larger acceptance among the British audience after the peak of the movement in 1981, becoming prevalent when bands of the first group also adopted it."  Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 03:45, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

"The first group" refers to the bands which adopted the 'fast & furious' style described before the 'melodic' style. When Pyromania achieved success in the US, bands such as Saxon, Girlschool, Tank, Tokyo Blade, etc. tried to imitate Def Leppard's sound introducing melodies and synths in their music. Lewismaster (talk) 07:09, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
  • OK I edited it a little. Cheers.  Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 08:02, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

NWOBHM[edit]

Hey, been extremely busy with work and haven't had any time to do anything else but sleep, so I put a very quick support up via my phone when I saw your post. Did I correctly notice that it has been approved? If so good work man. Nürö G'DÄŸ MÄTË 21:58, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for your support and participation, Nuro. The article was finally promoted, but it was a long and rough ride. Lewismaster (talk) 06:16, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

A barnstar for you![edit]

Writers Barnstar Hires.png The Writer's Barnstar
I want to commend you for you work on New wave of British heavy metal article. I learned so much from reading it. The article is not only comprehensive and informative, but the language is so vivid and evocative--the way it brings the whole social context of the time period to life--you have rendered it so well--the whole way it expresses the connection with the unemployment in England at the time (now in 20016 we may end up seeing a new rock movement called "Brexit rock"!). Taking on a project this large is a Herculean task and it takes so much to make something like this possible. You have reached the top of Mount Everest, and I hope that this little star helps you savor in this joyful moment. Garagepunk66 (talk) 07:37, 24 July 2016 (UTC)
By, the way I noticed, when reading your user page, that you are a teacher. I am one too. Garagepunk66 (talk) 07:45, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

RTL review[edit]

Hey Lewismaster! If you're not busy with other Wiki-activities, can you read Ride the Lightning and share your opinion at the FAC page? Appreciate your time and all the best.--Retrohead (talk) 13:22, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

I'm not much at home lately, but I'll see what I can do. Lewismaster (talk) 15:11, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
Another thing. Can you add book page for the Metallica reviews and see if there's something about Skid Row? Thanks.--Retrohead (talk) 14:14, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
