Snyder map[edit]

Snyder will probably hit the main page in a little over 27 hours from now as part of the DYK according to the T:DYK/Q. I was contemplating makeing a map with the business district and the two National Register of Historic Places listings. However, we should probably only have one map for the hamlet. Any chance we can have a map before it hits the main page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 05:55, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for forcing me to learn OpenStreetMap from last week's signpost so that I could create File:Snyder, New York map.png myself. Now, I just need to get the template fixed to accept three maps in the next 6.5 hours.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 04:27, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did I make a mistake? It is also popular name for every higher oak, used also in belarussian literature. The same name has the highest oak of Belarus. Of course the article is not finished and should be expanded. I will think about it. Leszek Jańczuk (talk) 15:03, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't have anything to do with the redirect of your article, but it appears that the reason it was redirected to Białowieża Forest is because it was decided that the Tsar Oak which is the main tree described (to which you have added a bit about a different "Tsar Oak") isn't notable enough for an article. That decision was made here almost two years ago. Further, the comment by someone about the name was that an article on the tree you added shouldn't be named "Dąb Car" because since it's in Belarus (and presumably not in the forest that straddles the border with Poland), it's not called "Dąb Car", only "Царь-дуб" (and should be in English on the English Wikipedia, anyway). Lexicon (talk) 22:30, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is no problem, It is Polish oak - Ghirlandajo made a mistake - I saw it many times, and photographed too, but in Belarus is the other oak with the same name. It is only surprised for me that Jagiełło Oak was did not merged, though it was never the highest oak in Białowieża Forest, and it has not historical meanning as was said before of merging of this oak. There is only one difference, the article about Jagiełło Oak has a legend (not historical true, it is too joung). The other oaks also have legends (but did not included to the articles). Jagiełło Oak had only one advantage above other oaks it was located near Białowieża (only 1.5 km) and was well known for the tourists and writers. Some of these writers described this oak (one these writers received Nobel Prise, not for oak, but for Quo Vadis (novel). Perhaps it is enough for the article in English wikipedia, but actually it is not mentioned in the article. Legends can not be the reason for qualifying what article has right to be in wikipedia. Tsar Oak was bigger and higher, and more majestic, but it was never described by writers, because it was located 15 km from Białowieża, and not easy accessible (swamps). In any case it is not area of my interest. I know this area ver well, I was born there, but it is enough for now.
Ps. two years ago I was not wikipedian. Leszek Jańczuk (talk) 22:53, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Flag of Sudbury.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of Sudbury.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:20, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum[edit]

Hi Lexicon/Archive eta,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

NowCommons: File:White Castle and Churchs.jpg[edit]

File:White Castle and Churchs.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:White Castle and Churchs.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:White Castle and Churchs.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 22:18, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the article in google cache and it seemed to be either genuine, or a very well developed hoax. Can you restore the article in my userspace (along with its edit history) so that I can verify if any of its current of past content are verifiable, and hence worth retaining ? I should be able to review it before the end of the week. Abecedare (talk) 16:39, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll let you by Sunday if I find anything verifiable that would make it worth restoring in mainspace. Abecedare (talk) 00:59, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It didn't take that long. The article is certainly a hoax. I searched for spelling variations, but didn't find a single news or web item about the subject, which is very surprising for a person supposed to be the vice-president of Bihar state BJP. Also all the citations in the article are unrelated to the supposed subject.
So please go ahead and re-delete the article. I don't know how this hoax was originally spotted, but that's some great work! Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 01:22, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You mean the Grim Fandango screenshot on the LucasArts adventure games article? I'm seeing it fine, in both the article and on the file page. I can't understand why you're seeing it as red, try clearing your browser cache or purging the page. -- Sabre (talk) 17:34, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Islamic Emirate of Waziristan. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Islamic Emirate of Waziristan (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:07, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Zabibah and the King.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Zabibah and the King.jpg.
