Please go to WP:USURP to request a user name change. Simply moving your user and talk pages to a new user space is not the correct way to do this. The Mad Hatter account would need to be usurped as it was created, although never used, in July of 2006. --OnoremDil 13:14, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Iron Maiden[edit]

Do it or do not revert me. However, I don't think my edits need to be discussed anywhere. I am bold and that's what I am. Either acknowledge my edits, either do not. But my stance is clear and this article needs a lot, a lot, a lot of work.

Mad Hatter (talk) 14:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

The article looks much, much better for what I did. Look at it and tell me I am wrong. If people are unhappy - then let's discuss. But reversion is bad, bad habit and I never do it. So, man, I am pledging for loyalty and acknowledgement in the name of the future developping. I don't think I need permission or anything else in order to explain and justify an edit. I am an established and seasoned editor, not some fellow with yellow around my mouth. I know what I am doing and I consider it right. That's why I don't think I need any kind of permission. If you are not happy - then I am open to discussion. But if you come and decide to revert, just for the sake of it with such beaurocratic reasons as "We have to discuss" - I don't think so.

Regards:

Right... just because you consider it to be correct doesn't make it so. You're making major changes that really need to be discussed first on the IM talk page. Please also be aware of WP:3RR. Request reason:

Scarian is taking personal jab against me. He is abusing his power in order to silence my opinion and is persistently reverting me on the Iron Maiden page, because of relative inexperience and relative incompetence. It is remarkable that person of his standing - an administrator - has fallen to such petty ways of resolving issues. He didn't discussed anything about Iron Maiden, just kept reverting and then suddenly when I expressed disappointment in his way of resolving issues, he decided to block me up, saying it is a personal attack. While I wasn't happy, I had no intention to attack Scarian or to cause my blocking. My version of Iron Maiden can be found on the history page, I regard it as a better and I was continuosly hindered by Scarian adn other editors. I am appealing to administrators because of Scarian's inability to see the truth and his remarkable disrespect toward my standing as an established and capable editor

Decline reason:

Block seems appropriate. Insistence on talk page discussion rather than edit warring is the norm for Wikipedia, and personal attacks are highly discouraged (calling someone inexperienced and incompetent in an unblock request is hardly likely to win a reprieve) - however one week is somewhat excessive given generally clean block log, am reducing to 48 hours. Orderinchaos 11:36, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first and then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired.

Note to unblock request admin - See here for evidence of personal attacks. Myself and others were referred to as "blockheads" and I was called a "silly revertor [sic]". As for the discussion of the Iron Maiden dispute, I asked the said user to discuss it here. I also made a section on the IM article talk page for the said user to discuss it here. ScarianCall me Pat 10:49, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Granted, I called you blockhead, and I still think you are blockhead, because of your lack of common sense, lack of tactfulness and lack of respect and understanding toward my edits and toward my stance as Wikipedia editor. You acted like a total jerk, your behaved as if I am a rookie and I don't know what I am doing, you behaved like a insulted lady and not as a man and resorted to blocking me, because you had nothing to say about the issue. You still can't say much about it and I am still flattered that people like you are administrators.

Speedy deletion of Image:Coldplay 177057m.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

A tag has been placed on Image:Coldplay 177057m.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Airbag.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Airbag.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Bob Dylan[edit]

Mad Hatter, your radical re-write of the post 2000 section of the Bob Dylan article has done a valuable job in reduced an article that was threatening to become over-long and unwieldy. However, I disagree with your putting some recent Dylan events into a new section called ‘Tributes and legacy’. For example, it makes no sense to include Dylan’s exhibition of his art in Germany last year, and the accompanying catalogue, in ‘Tributes and legacy’ since clearly this was an important new development in Dylan’s career, in the same way the publication of Vol. One of Dylan’s autobiography was an important development. Also, you have lost some information I thought was valuable, which I intend to restore. To do a radical re-write of a WP:FA may be WP: bold but sometimes it is wise to discuss your ideas on Talk page. Mick gold (talk) 09:46, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Space opera[edit]

The reason the "list" article is a redirect, is that it is entirely original research. the main article has a list already, so this would be redundant, and as no-one can be bothered to find more sources, it seems unlikely that the list would ever be large enough to need a seperate page. The alternative is the drawn out process of AfD of this content fork, which would almost certainly say merge. If you want a longer list of examples, why not find sources and expand the one we have?Yobmod (talk) 15:03, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Civility[edit]

Stop hand nuvola.svg This is your only warning.
The next time you make a personal attack as you did at Talk:Imaginationland Episode I, you will be blocked for disruption. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. this is absolutely inappropriate. You claim to be "experienced enough to deal with such situations", then act like it. -- Scorpion0422 21:13, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

In relation to the above, this post demonstrates unacceptable behavior. Please remain civil. Thank you. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 21:35, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
"Who will be so selfish and arrogant to list his contributions on his personal page. I let my edits speak for themselves" is an uncivil comment, and has no place on Wikipedia. We're trying to build an encyclopedia, not to prove other editors wrong, not to attack other editors, and not to demonstrate why we are better than other editors. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 21:41, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
You're not criticizing, you're being uncivil. You don't have to regard yourself as wrong, but if you continue what is clearly being uncivil, you will be blocked from editing. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 21:52, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay then[edit]

So I start a merge discussion (which goes along with wikipedia policy) because I believe one really good page is better than four duplicates, (ie. Who Shot Mr. Burns?) and that makes me a bad user? It seems that you are taking things very personally and have resorted to attacking me, my conduct and (rather bizarely) my userpage. -- Scorpion0422 21:51, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

[2] Actually, I gave you the standard WP:NPA warning. Perhaps I started off a little too strong, but I figured that you deserved a strong warning since you have been here longer than me. -- Scorpion0422 21:58, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Editors are free to remove comments off their own talk page whenever they want. See WP:TALK. And if you don't believe that you're not being insulting, disrespectful, or uncivil with your comments, then I can say little more than recommend that you don't interact with other users. If you still want to, then give WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA a good, hard look. — sephiroth bcr (converse) 22:29, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

To be perfectly frank, your comments are disgusting and hateful. When is is ever constructive to call someone "ignorant", "plan stupid", "self-centered", "inexperienced", or "extremely childish"? You claimed Scorpion was not a "great editor". Who the hell are you to judge that? Your so-called "criticism" is nothing more than petty insults. You speak your mind, and when you do, we call you out on violating one of Wikipedia's tenets: that editors are civil to one another. That you believe WP:NPOV applies to editors just illustrates your lack of comprehension of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In any case, I'm done here. Again, if you want to continue editing, then reexamine your interactions with other users, and think how you can change your behavior. — sephiroth bcr (converse) 23:01, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Imagionationland movie.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:Imagionationland movie.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:21, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Radiohead[edit]

Hi there, I can see that things are becoming a bit heated over there. Thanks for discussing the matter on the talk page. However, I must ask you not to revert the page again today however, to avoid violating the three revert rule. If you revert the page again, you may be blocked from editing and I really would prefer to avoid that. I have given a similar warning to the IP editor so let's try to sort this out through discussion and allow a third party to make any further reversions. Take That - Gary and Robbie[edit]

Hello,

I will be replacing my comments very shortly with referenced links. This was not a matter of opinion. It merely stated the fact that Robbie outdid Gary in popularity and stardom. The documentary answers all you're concerns. Gary pretty much conceded defeat in the film and i do not believe that I did anything to challenge otherwise. If anything, it was Gary's comments I've reflected on. I will however remove the "Crap songwriter" from the paragraph as i understand why some may be upset by it.

Swearing and abusing at other users is not an acceptable means of retracing comments. This will only lead to a repetition of comments being added again and again and eventually reporting such behaviour regardless of previous posts and work.

Regards,

Toon —Preceding unsigned comment added by ToonIsALoon (talkcontribs) 11:26, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Blur[edit]

Hi. I've reverted a few of your edits on the Blur article. The "height of fame" section header was rather inappropriate, because Blur arguably became more famous worldwide with the American-sounding Blur. Also, by adding "Backing vocals" to all of the musicians in the second sentence of the lead, you make it long and ungainly. Best to just list the main instruments they are primarily identified with; by keeping it short and sweet, we make for a more engaging lead. Remember that we are targeting the articles towards a reader who doesn't know anything about Blur. As for the 2004–2009 section, I believe a whole section needs to be devoted to how Blur have done nothing in that time. Also note WP:RECENT, which means that more recent information shouldn't be given undue coverage compared to older stuff. indopug (talk) 16:20, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of The Spinning Top, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.nme.com/news/43439. Bob Dylan External Links[edit]

I've restored Dylan external links that I think are consistent with WP:EL policy: those links that give important news & info on Dylan's touring schedule, recording sessions and which IMHO seriously expand our understanding of Dylan's work. On Dylan Talk page I've asked other editors what they think 3. best wishes Mick gold (talk) 08:11, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Bob Dylan and WP:EL part two[edit]

You've deleted the External Links again on Bob Dylan and I've restored them again. This has been discussed on the Talk Page. See 4 which I referred to in my last posting. I & Allreet believe what we have is consistent with WP:EL policy, particularly No. 3 of the following:

What should be linked
 1. Wikipedia articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the subject's official site, if any.
 2. An article about a book, a musical score, or some other media should link to a site hosting a copy of the work if none of the "Links normally to be avoided" criteria apply.
 3. Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues, amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks) or other reasons.

If there is disagreement among editors, you have to try to reach consensus, not simply delete every time. Read WP:EL policy and then please discuss. Mick gold (talk) 13:38, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of New Adventures (band)[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article New Adventures (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No assertion of notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Verve[edit]

This is not an album, it's an EP. Check the rules:

a CD single has around 10–28 minutes of music, an EP has up to 36 minutes, and an album generally has 30–80 minutes.

Verve is, give or take, 30 minutes long - whilst that could just fit in the album category, it's most comfortable in the EP category. And it only has five tracks - every other Verve album has at least ten. Lastly, Ashcroft himself referred to A Storm in Heaven as their first album (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfgyGszPZuE, 6:09).

Speedy deletion nomination of New Adventures (band)[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on New Adventures (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of New Adventures (band)[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article New Adventures (band) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Completely unnotable.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hoponpop69 (talk) 17:03, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

The Kinks[edit]

Mad Hatter, we don't know each other but it saddens me to see you edit warring over the article you have put so much into. I urge you to take these matters up with other editors on the article talk page, just as has already been suggested more than once. If you were to continue as you are currently doing, I feel that would begin to seriously undermine your established position as a significant and respected contributor to the article. I hope you don't find this comment intrusive. Please, reflect on this, and try to start to work these things out on the talk page instead. I believe you can rectify the situation if you do this now, before matters deteriorate any further. Again, sorry if this is an intrusion; you may know more about the whole situation than I do. Anyway, I hope this helps somehow. PL290 (talk) 11:08, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Thought you'd be interested in this[edit]

User Carmaker1, showed up out of nowhere at my talk page couple of days ago blaming me and you for removing a whole chunk of information from the article of Backstreet Boys, see this here. Then he went on inserting unsourced release-date into the article of Backstreet Boys, meantime removing highly reliable sources and replacing them with Google search like sites, see this for example. Now he's all over the place accusing me and you being the same person, see this. If this editor keeps on throwing accusations of this kind we should report him. Thought, you should be aware of what's he's up to.--Harout72 (talk) 16:42, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks man, I appreciate it, I'll keep you posted if Carmaker1 has anything else to add to his earlier accusations.--Harout72 (talk) 21:46, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Glad to know you two aren't the same person then. However, I will report you, User: Mad Hatter, for your own poor conduct. Harout72 hasn't used the level of language you have in referring to me. As for you Harout72, verifiability does not include ease of access. In fact, those are news archives and unfortunately you must not possess anywhere near the amount of wealth I do to purchase any article for research. I'm glad you corrected one of the dates(August 12, 1997), but the Canadian date is still incorrect as the album was number one in October 1996. I provided to you information before that your judgment on Billboard Magazine's charts was flawed. I will continue to look for the accurate source containing the September 1996 release date. It is clearly obvious that there is a gang mentality that shouldn't be welcome on such a site.Carmaker1 (talk) 03:47, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Imagionationland movie.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Imagionationland movie.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 19:21, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Nickelback[edit]

Thought I'd repost this here in case you didn't see it on the discussion page:

Any particular reason why you keep removing some of these sourced quotes without explanation? Most notably, you keep removing a part where it says they had 4 songs done in February, and that a member of the band claiming that "Here and Now" would be "more organic sounding" and sound like "All the Right Reasons". I see no reason to remove that, it's sourced and important info regarding the new album. Even if there was some sort of problem, you should be explaining why... Sergecross73 msg me 03:00, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

So, to be clear, your approach this situation, was to never respond, and then try removing it again, 6 months later, without any discussion or edit summary? Sergecross73 msg me 14:47, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:AngelsandAirwaves2011pg(1).jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:AngelsandAirwaves2011pg(1).jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please remove the tag.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. We hope (talk) 16:56, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:AngelsandAirwaves2011pg(1).jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:AngelsandAirwaves2011pg(1).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Speedy deletion nomination of M K Hume[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on M K Hume requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. "Per se" image usage on Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds article[edit]

What Wiki image usage policy are you referring to in your removal of the images from the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds article? As far as I can tell, the images are not "staggering" or "bloating" anything, nor are they redundant, but rather are illustrating members and performances in the same manner as any of the GAs on musical groups that I've read. If anything, I could see wanting to trim out one or two, but not all. Colinclarksmith (talk) 20:49, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

RE: Nickelback[edit]

Yes, I've actually noticed what you're saying, and that's what leads me to be all the more confused. You've edited for a long time, and are part of a music-related Wikiproject. So you obviously know removing sourced information w/o discussion or edit summary is frowned upon. (Through your talk page, I see you were accused of doing similar actions at Velvet Revolver as well.)

But I won't lecture your further. I'm sorry that you've got a lot going on, and I wish you well as well. Best of luck with all you've got going on. Sergecross73 msg me 20:55, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

RE: Velvet Revolver[edit]

I don't think any editor likes to see their edits removed so no need to apologise on that front sir. I put a lot of work getting that article up to some sort of decent standard (this being what is what like before) using articles like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden as examples, and while I don't own it or decide what is included or removed, I felt you were a little bit vague in your reasons for removing content, which is why I reverted and asked for a discussion. You say "very unprofessional" and "crappy fan page" and you may very well be right, but how am I to know if you don't explain why?

You feel strongly about what should and should not be in the article, but really it doesn't benefit article if one person is getting their way (me included) which is the whole reason to discuss first. So, I won't revert the recent changes you made but discuss what you want to change, though really you should have discussed them first (WP:STATUSQUO). The splitting of formation is well done, starting at Randy Castillo's funeral works well. Not a fan of the "Origins and past careers" heading but the only suggestion I have is "Early years" which may or may not work. A large amount of the content in "Search of new singer and hiatus" could be re-written to flow with the rest of the article rather than "In an interview with" every few sentences. Still don't believe that there should be a whole section with solo careers. I think it could still be trimmed (my fault for there being that much info in the first place) and inserted into the new singer and hiatus section. I personally don't see how it hampers the article and I've seen very similar sections, or mentions of other solo projects, on articles of a higher standard (The Beatles, Sex Pistols, Silverchair, The Smashing Pumpkins). I'm assuming these kind of sections inclusion is dependant on who is editing and down to personal opinion.

In regards to the removing of content previously, there is no policy or guideline that I am aware of (maybe you do) that states what length an article should be. Sometimes an article needs to be big just to give the subject adequate coverage. If there is any content that you disagree with, ask me about it and I'll tell you my reasons for adding in the first place. You might agree or disagree but at least then we can move on from there. Hope I made some sense in this response, happy editing sir. HrZ (talk) 14:35, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

I really think those changes work well. A large majority of the content you removed was mainly IP contributions, those who felt every interview, rumour and mention of the band's future should be included, so I am quite happy to see it go with some of it re-worded into the article. I'll give the changes a proper look when I have a little more time, but no cause for complaint on this end! Are you happy with the changes? I know you made them, but just incase there is any other issues you feel should be delt with in the article =) HrZ (talk) 11:29, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
It is a small bit of info so a subsection works better. I removed the "-present" part of the heading. It is my understanding that, if it is the current year then there is no need for it, until the following year that is! HrZ (talk) 13:58, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Anthony A. Goodman[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Anthony A. Goodman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Dismas|(talk) 03:06, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

LP[edit]

HI mr. distinguished editor. (not mocking, your page explains itself). i think sticking to time line way is better than this way. coz this revision doesn't explain clearly the gap between the 2nd album and 3rd one. so i don't know !!!! --hosam007 (talk) 18:57, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

i think if we return it back like it was would be good, and for time line i think it's a basic thing to make especially in the bands articles coz while reading the article you need to know what happened through it's history in the right order, like any other rock band (coldplay, green day, etc). it's a main article and i hope you fix it. thank you, peace --hosam007 (talk) 19:16, 30 September 2012 (UTC)

As a member of the literature project here on Wikipedia, could you lend some advice regarding technical literature? Orphaned non-free media (File:Where You Stand album cover.jpg)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Where You Stand album cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:24, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Massive Deletion of OK Go[edit]

Hi. Thanks for looking at the OK Go page. I don't want to revert your mass deletion without reaching out, but it looks like you deleted almost a third of the page, with only the note "had to cut some things. need more tidying." Would you be willing to revert your change and then bring the discussion to the article's talk page so they can be discussed? I believe that there is a particularly compelling case that OK Go is as much a multi-media artistic enterprise as it is a band, and that their albums are less important to their history and output then their videos are. Reply[edit]

Sir, I advise you to stop removing information without consulting other users. Those are featured articles that you are editing. Please, try to talk with other users before making any significant change in the articles. That goes againts the spirit of this wiki. Alright? Do not make unilateral changes. This here is a collaborative project. Right? All the best for you too.

 • MOS:IMAGES: "Images are an important part of any article's presentation. Effort should therefore be made to improve quality and choice of images or captions in articles rather than favoring their removal". ;) Coltsfan (talk) 23:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

First, your "appeal to experience" is meaningless. I could simply say that even the most experience editors make mistakes, but since apparently you claim to be infallible, it will probably fall on deaf ears. But, like I said before, the WP:STYLE says it very clear and it would be nice if check it out. "Efforts should therefore be made to improve quality and choice of images or captions in articles rather than favoring their removal". Images are indeed an important part of any article's presentation. Before removing all of them, you might want to check the opinion of other users, because, last I checked, there are probably other users besides you. If you are really as experienced as you claim to be, you know very well that that friendly coexistence is important. And in the spirit of collaboration, making radical changes in featured articles because you think it's what "the article needs", maybe it's not a good idea. If you talk to other editors in the article's talk page, and they all agree that these changes are necessary, then I would gladly abide by the consensus, because it would be a decision made by the comunity of editors. Other than that, it's just your opinion. And your opinion is, by definition, yours. Other people may disagree with your point of view. It happens. Until a consensus is achieved, status quo of the page must be respected. I meant no offense, but that's the way it was always done. Look at other featured articles. They all have images that help to illustrate the article. You still don't agree? Then do the civilized thing and start a helpful discussion at the article's talk page and let's see what other wikipedians say. Ok? Bye. Coltsfan (talk) 18:31, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Your permission request[edit]

Hi, regarding your request and reply at Wikipedia:Request for permissions/Confirmed:

See the main page Wikipedia:Request for permissions. It describes the permissions and tools that can be granted to you. You will need to justify why you need each specific permission you request (for example, if you aren't involved in the account request process, you don't need 'account creator' permission, and if you mostly edit articles but don't create new ones, you don't need 'autopatrolled' permission).

Common permissions assigned to users are 'reviewer' and 'rollbacker'. I can grant you 'reviewer' privilege right now, based on your experience. This means, if you see a pending-change-protected edit in your watch list, you have the right to review and accept or reject that change. Not many articles are pending-change protected, mostly contentious biographies of living persons that attract a lot of anonymous vandalism. An article that is pending-change protected won't display the changes made by anonymous users until the change is approved by a reviewer.

Your user rights log is visible here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&action=view&type=rights&page=User:Mad_Hatter

At this time, I'm uncomfortable granting you rollback rights (it's mostly for people who focus on spam and vandal fighting) until you demonstrate more experience communicating with the community. You have very few edits to talk pages. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:37, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Question[edit]

I noticed that you had listed Battlestar Galactica amongst the list of Space Opera media. Do you think we should specify the genre of that franchise as Space Opera? I've checked online for sources and it does show BSG as a space opera subgenre. Do you think we should open a discussion on the talk pages and discuss a change? Will you be available for discussions?--Taeyebaar (talk) 20:41, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Are you sure about that? If I'm not mistaken I did change it to military sci-fi and it got reverted. I also think BSG does not fit the definition of military science fiction, but rather space opera. Wait before de-listing. Check the definitions and online sources before making this move. Let me know what you find. Thanks--Taeyebaar (talk) 06:37, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

You're welcome[edit]

Seeing that you are a good and co-operative contributor. But a word of advice. Don't put Wikipedia above your real-life priorities. Make sure you're real life needs are fulfilled before devoting time and energy to Wikipedia. Best regards.--Taeyebaar (talk) 21:45, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Discussion[edit]

Hi Mad Hatter, since you contributed to pages regarding sci-fi genres, can you please have a look at this discussion when you can?--Taeyebaar (talk) 18:24, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

From my understanding cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction; wheras dystopian fiction is more about an alternative society, but commonly overlaps with cyberpunk and even social science fiction. You're feedback would be welcome.--Taeyebaar (talk) 18:26, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
