July 2014[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Angel Moroni. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block.

You also ignored completely my message about wikilinks in quotes. Dougweller (talk) 20:53, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

I saw your messsage on my talk page, hopefully you will be more careful now and other editors won't be reverting you. Dougweller (talk) 08:29, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Adam and Eve. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. DMacks (talk) 04:34, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Elizium23 (talk) 05:31, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

  • Please read and absorb the criteria at WP:CATDEF regarding the additions of categories to articles. Pay special note to the fact that "Categorization of articles must be verifiable. It should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories" and "A central concept used in categorising articles is that of the defining characteristics of a subject of the article". Just because a mermaid appears in a film does not make it a defining characteristic of the film. You also need to be aware that Wikis cannot be used as a source for anything in an article since the are user generated as described here WP:UGC. Understanding these guidelines and criteria can help you in your editing. OTOH if you continue to ignore them further edits can be considered disruptive and that can lead this account being blocked. Better to avoid that if you can. MarnetteD|Talk 18:49, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Cyphoidbomb. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to The Powerpuff Girls because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Diff: [1] Per WP:CAT there should be an obvious reason why categories are added to an article. I don't see a clear reason based on sourced prose for The Powerpuff Girls to be added to Category:The Devil in fiction, unless you were trying to be cute and "zing" the series in a passive-aggressive way. If that is the case, please stop. It's not cute. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:45, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

More generally, there's more to WP editing than spraying categories hither and yon... Pinkbeast (talk) 17:59, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
And the indiscriminate addition of categories is often seen from pernicious editors. I don't mean to say that you are one, Magicat, just that when we see a lot of categories being added or changed without a clear reason, it tends to look like vandalism. Here's a real world example from today. Nowhere in the article is Cartoon Network mentioned, which makes it doubtful that this was a legitimate contribution. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:28, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Child actors[edit]

Hi MagicatthemovieS,
I noticed that you added Sarah Connor (Terminator) to Category:Child characters in film, based on Sarah being under 21 (which the category did state for just over a year). However, regardless of her age in years, the more detailed category description that follows "...articles should only be included in this category if the character's childhood experiences form a notable part of the story." would still exclude Sarah (who was over the age of majority, no longer lived with her parents, and had a regular job). To try and avoid future confusion, I also corrected the category's age basis back to the legal definition of child (which it was from 2008 creation until just over a year ago). Regardless thank you for contributing. ―MJBurrage(TC) 23:13, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

American films[edit]

Could you please go back and re-add Category:American films to the articles in which you removed it? I re-added it to a few, but the list is a bit long. This category is non-diffusing, and it should be in every American film. If you don't do this, it's going to create a lot of work for other people to clean up. ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Nonlinear narrative[edit]

Unless a source has commented on it, it strikes me as original research for us to categorize a work as having a nonlinear narrative. Casablanca in particular doesn't seem to have a particularly nonlinear narrative. You're welcome to ask the question at the article's Talk page if you'd like though. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Mamma Mia! (film), but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Nothing in the article suggests that this is a "film about women". Beyond the fact that that category is at CfD, if you're going to categorize an article in such a manner, please ensure that the article substantiates it. DonIago (talk) 19:43, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Moves of Dress pages[edit]

I realise that you personally believe that your new title formats are better, but given that they have been set up the original way (which I do agree is a little clunky - it's probably not how I would have done it had I originated the titling formatting) for quite a number of years, you really should have asked on the talk pages and tried to get consensus/agreement before jumping right in and making all the moves. Virgin Mary[edit]

I don't think it is useful to flood the category with hundreds of paintings of the parts of the Passion etc which always or nearly always include her as a subsidiary figure. These can be added by added their categories as sub-categories of this one. The focus should be on paintings where she is the main figure, or one of them, or it will get too large, which it almost is already. Thanks, Johnbod (talk) 12:01, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Moses[edit]

We have crossed each others path a few times and I wanted to reach out to you since I reverted some of your edits that deleted large amounts of prose. Nothing personal and I understand, and agree, that citations are needed and encourage you to ask for a citation before deleting text, which you have been doing on the articles I see, so thank you.

I have a side question on one of the Moses edits. Do we really want to require non-primary sources for religious articles? This seems to not fit the status quo and I am certainly not saying you are wrong, but this entire article is basically primary sourced as are almost all Biblical articles. Do you intend to have all prose backed up by secondary sources and if not, why did you pick out only Numbers 12? Lipsquid (talk) 18:35, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Your recent attempt to nominate articles at WP:GAN[edit]

MagicatthemovieS, I'm afraid that the way to make nominations of articles for the Good Article process does not involve editing the nominations page directly. It involves adding a nomination to the talk page of the article you want to nominate. Complete instructions are at WP:GANI: I strongly recommend that you read this page thoroughly before nominating Marilyn Manson (band). (A bot builds the GAN page, so any changes you make there will be overwritten within 20 minutes, which is what happened to both of the ones that you added a little over an hour ago.)

I took a look at both of the articles you nominated, and while the band's article looks promising, the Smells Like Children article is clearly far from ready. Indeed, the sourcing of that article is well below what is required—paragraphs and quotes are left unsourced, which falls well short of what is expected. So I advise against nominating Smells Like Children until you have had time to do a major upgrade on the sourcing, at least, since it would probably be quickfailed if nominated as it stands today.

I would like to recommend that you review the Good Article criteria so you're aware of what is expected of an article for it to become a GA.

Best of luck! BlueMoonset (talk) 00:36, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

Rationale for edit?[edit]

Your edits [[3]] removed the following information without any explanation:

On November 9, 2015, Phi Kappa Psi filed a $25 million lawsuit against Rolling Stone in state court "to seek redress for the wanton destruction caused to Phi Kappa Psi by Rolling Stone's intentional, reckless, and unethical behavior."[1][2] In September 2016, the magazine sought to have the lawsuit dismissed; however, a circuit court judge ruled that the suit could proceed.[3] On June 13, 2017, the lawsuit was settled for $1.65 million.[4]

Can you explain the edits?

Thanks,

It took a bit of poking to find this out, but the monument in Baltimore is near-unique in that it does not contain a statue. So what was destroyed? The obelisk still stands. Magic, it looks to me as if you're rather busy, indeed in something like hot water for your GA nominations. Nothing much has happened on this article since the 20th, and while I'm not in a hurry, GANs mustn't just sit about for weeks on end. I am inclined to end the review now, unless you can assure me that there is some special reason like you have ordered some reviews from the library and they're arriving tomorrow. Your GA review nominations[edit]

Hi, MagicatthemovieS. I hope that you keep in mind what NinjaRobotPirate, MarnetteD and I recently stated in the case of one of your nominations. I mean, looking here, it's clear that you nominated several articles. I removed the one in question. What would you do if you had two or more reviews going on at the same time? Anyway, I ask that you be more considerate of article contributors before nominating articles for GA. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 20:06, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Magic, I do hope you take this message to heart. Wikipedia needs more good and featured articles, and my best guess about your nominations is that you look for articles close to the mark, do a some work on them, and nominate them. Intentions may be very good, but aside from points raised above and at the cited talk page, GAC has a lot of backlog and you're not doing any reviewing for QPQ. I don't think Gone Girl (film) is ready in its current state either, as Flyer22 Reborn seems to have alluded to. Ribbet32 (talk) 14:48, 22 September 2017 (UTC)
I'm sorry, Ribbet, Flyer22 and everyone else if I caused you any trouble. I really was just trying to help. - MagicatthemovieS
I know you're trying to help, there's no question about that, and that you have helped on different articles. My main question was, have you considered performing the occasional review here and there? Ribbet32 (talk) 03:12, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
I guess I should. - MagicatthemovieS
MagicatthemovieS, see what was stated on my talk page by me and BlueMoonset. You really should not be making these nominations unless you are a significant contributor to the article. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 04:25, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

This is for all your recent hard work at the articles Samson and Delilah, particularly the latter, which I see you have nominated for GA review. I, unfortunately, will be unable to review it for you, since I have been too closely involved in the process of bringing it to its current state, but I wish you the best of luck in advancing the quality of the article. --Katolophyromai (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Magic, I'm not sure how much clear this can be. Stop reopening the original GAC. Renominate for a second, completely new review if you must. Also, I'm not sure why you're so insistent on doing this now. You've neglected your earlier driveby nomination The Cabin in the Woods for a month, why not work on that? Or at least tell @Casliber: he might as well close it. Ribbet32 (talk) 14:33, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Weinstein effect‎, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Your GA review nominations, part 2[edit]

Regarding this nomination at the Apple of Sodom (song) article, perhaps you took what Ribbet32 and I stated in the #Your GA review nominations section above to heart? I ask because you actually worked on that article before nominating it. Not sure if I would call you a major contributor to it or not. Anyway, as long as you significantly work on an article before nominating it, there shouldn't be any issue with you making these nominations...if the other significant contributors don't object or are unlikely to object. It can be a good idea to ask on the article talk page first whether an article is ready for GA. Give people at least two days to reply. If no one answers after that, then you should feel free to press ahead with the nomination. To repeat: You should be a significant contributor to the article you are nominating and you should have the time to work on the article per the GA reviewer's concerns. As a number of failed GA nominations posted above on your talk page show, you either often do not have the time or you do not put much effort in. Don't be concerned with trying to rack up a whole bunch of GA articles, if that is a part of your drive. If you've had little to do with the improvement of an article, but nominate it for GA, it's like you are riding off the hard work of others. Personally, I think it's more satisfying when one is a part of that hard work. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 14:42, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

I did take Ribbet32's advice to heart. I actually was a major contributer to the "Apple of Sodom" article (look at the history of the page, I'd venture to say I did at least 75% of the edits). As of late, I have been massively changing sub-par articles and then nominating them for GA status, which I did for the Delilah article. I agree with your views on hard work. Thanks for the guidance on how to become a better Wikipedian, and for the follow-up.MagicatthemovieS (talk) 14:42, 17 December 2017 (UTC)

Why?[edit]

When you made this edit you didn't explain why. Seems to me it was useful informaion which led into the following information. I have restored it. Moriori (talk) 21:10, 26 December 2017 (UTC)

@Moriori: It was from a source that said none of those thing.
What? There were four sources, not the best, but adequate. That information introduced the sentence that followed which needed explaining of how/why this lady in British Columbia was suddenly at San Diego Zoo. I think it is highly pertinent information, but am happy to let GA1 reviewer @Georgejdorner: decide. Moriori (talk) 21:57, 26 December 2017 (UTC)

Images at Satan[edit]

Thank you for all the terrific and helpful images you have added to the article Satan. I just thought I would note that you might not want to add any more; we probably do not have space and I think we have enough already. If you find more useful images, we may want to consider replacing ones that are already in the article instead because we do not want to overwhelm the reader with too many pictures. I think that, right now, the numbers of images we have is probably just perfect. --Katolophyromai (talk) 03:54, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

@Katolophyromai: I felt the same way when I added the image of the shofar. Great minds think alike! However, if you want to remove any images I added, feel free to do so.
