An unclear edit[edit]

Portal:Tropical cyclones/Selected picture/6 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
I've undone the edit you made here, since the redirect target Portal:Tropical cyclones/Selected picture/Sandy Oct 28 2012 16.00(UTC) does not exist. I'm not familiar with the tropical cyclones project, so I'll leave it to you to fix this up if you wish. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:52, 4 January 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Timeline and Affects of the 2012 Extranonconcentrational Storm Season[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Timeline and Affects of the 2012 Extranonconcentrational Storm Season has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Extranonconcentrational only used on Wikipedia, no evidence of it matches any reliably sourced concept

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Prosfilaes (talk) 05:27, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

I have nominated it for speedy deletion. United States Man (talk) 20:34, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

January 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm TropicalAnalystwx13. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Tornadoes of 2013 because it didn't appear constructive. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 21:36, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at April 25–28, 2011 tornado outbreak. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. Extranonconcentrational storm articles[edit]

What are the extranonconcentrational storm articles for? Inks.LWC (talk) 13:14, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

I have listed all of your subpages for deletion, as it's been almost a week since I inquired about them, and they all appear to violate the policy against fake articles. Feel free to participate at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:ManhattanSandyFurystorm subpages if you would like to discuss why the subpages should not be deleted. Better source request for File:Extranonconcentrational Storm 1AU.jpg[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 23:17, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Tornadoes of 2013[edit]

When I take something off with a good explanation, don't add it back without even providing an edit summary. That event was too small for a section and we really don't need you making things difficult. If you want to help, good, but don't get in the way. United States Man (talk) 13:44, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Please remember this article is only about tornadoes, not about wind damage. The tornado in Fayette County didn't cause much damage. Most of that was straight-line winds, which, as I said, should not be included. Since there were only ten tornadoes with three different systems, I don't think it qualifies as big enough for a section. United States Man (talk) 14:26, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
For your information, there WERE three systems: the 24th, the 26th-28th, and the 29th. Also, as I said, the tornado in Fayette County did not cause much damage (unlike TWC may let on). Here's a piece of advice: Do not trust anything The Weather Channel says. They are almost always wrong and care more about social media than the weather. Ten tornadoes with three systems is by far too small to be included. United States Man (talk) 16:11, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Please do not continue adding Original Research to both the Tornadoes of 2013 article and the May 18–20, 2013 tornado outbreak article. Only 17 tornadoes have been officially confirmed by the National Weather Service. The EF? tornadoes listed in the articles are merely reports and are not actually confirmed tornadoes. Disambiguation link notification for June 11[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tornadoes of 2013, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mid-Atlantic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of TOR:CON Index[edit]

Hello ManhattanSandyFurystorm,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged TOR:CON Index for deletion, because it seems to be an article that was previously deleted by a consensus decision.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ochiwar (talk) 06:57, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

==Repost of TOR:CON Index==

Information icon A tag has been placed on TOR:CON Index requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Speedy delete contest button.svg which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. June 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm Yintan. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Tornadoes of 2013, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks.  Yinta 12:16, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

High Temperatures[edit]

What you posted was horribly inaccurate. Please do not use that feature for determining temps unless there is an "OK" on the "Quality Control" heading. Please notice that on the 28th, the temp. "magically" jumpped from 60 to 106 in one hour. Not likely. Other websites list highs in the 80s. Please wait for verifications next time. Thanks, United States Man (talk) 03:35, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

I've reverted back for reasons explained in the edit summary (and please remember WP:3RR). You are posting that to the wrong town anyway. The page you are using clearly says Kettle Falls, Washington, which is in another county. According to all other available observations, temperatures were in the 80s/90s. The temperature was nowhere near the 130s so please stop changing it. United States Man (talk) 20:18, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
Glad you understand. And I would caution that certain data page in the future. United States Man (talk) 20:25, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

July 2013[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm United States Man. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Baltimore, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Tornadoes of 2013. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. United States Man (talk) 17:09, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Track map[edit]

No, the other part is not on there yet. As I said about the August section of Tornadoes of 2013, I really have no idea what you are talking about. United States Man (talk) 16:51, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

I see that now, but it will be moved back to the infobox anyway. United States Man (talk) 20:05, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Superstorm/ Furystorm concern[edit]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Superstorm/ Furystorm, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 180 days. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 17:26, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Doonebury July 1, 1975.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Doonebury July 1, 1975.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:06, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi MSF, I deleted the file, because it's not in the public domain. Public domain has a very specific meaning, and even if something has been made available for free doesn't mean there is no copyright on it. Feel free to ask if you have further questions. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 13:16, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Possibly unfree File:Finland War Result.png[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Finland War Result.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you object to the listing for any reason. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:10, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Your draft article, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Superstorm/ Furystorm[edit]

Hello ManhattanSandyFurystorm. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Superstorm/ Furystorm".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Superstorm/ Furystorm}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 05:01, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Discussion on changes to the format of the tornado table[edit]

Due to your membership in WikiProject Severe weather, I thought that the discussion going on there regarding proposed changes to the tornado table might interest you. If you are interested in participating in discussion, please feel free to join in at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Severe weather#Reference column in the tornado table. All views are welcome, and please do not feel obligated to participate if you are not interested. Inks.LWC (talk) 00:26, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Your sandbox[edit]

I've noticed that you don't appear to be using your sandbox for the purpose it was intended for. You appear to be copying existing Wikipedia articles to the sandbox and then altering the text with nonsense and with references to your friends (or other people). Your sandbox is for edits intended to create or improve articles, not for idle messing around or personal amusement. In addition, the copying of WP articles without attribution may constitute a copyright violation. I suggest that you blank the mess that's currently there; otherwise, I will nominate the page for deletion per WP:FAKEARTICLE. Deor (talk) 12:08, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
