Final Selection Article

[edit]

The article I have chosen for the article I will be editing is the 1975 New York Telephone Exchange Fire. I decided to choose this article because there needed to be some edits done in the impact section, explaining the provisions implemented as a fire of the fire. Also, there are a ton of sources on this article, including newspapers which will be really helpful. This article is easily verifiable because there are so many sources to back up what happened. Writing it from a neutral point of view does not seem like it will be that difficult because there is a strict cause and effect of how this fire started. However, I think I will be mostly focusing on the impacts.

Selection Articles

[edit]

This first article I think would be a good fit to do for my project is on St. Peters School in Barcelona. This article is notable because there is a website specifically for this school explaining its motive and policies. There are articles specifically through the education system in Spain which mention this school and its importance. Since it is the first bilingual school in Spain, it is a significant subject and thus has information on it whether it be books, websites, videos, or newspapers. The sources that I researched appear to be reliable because they are made by the school itself, making it easy to verify information. Lastly, this article can be written from a neutral point of view because it is just expanding on the mission of a school in Spain. There isn't an argument to make, the point is purely to educate. This isn't a controversial topic, so expanding this article in a Neutral Point of View should not be a challenge. Now looking back on this article, I think it might be difficult to find independent sources besides the schools website. That would make it really difficult to add anything to the article because not having enough sources would be really frustrating.

The next article I think would be interesting to expand is on Italian painter, Giovanni Lorenzo Bertolotti. I took a lot of art history classes in high school, so I am familiar with the trends in art history. This article is notable because his paintings still exist in Italian churches and today we still research the Baroque period style. There is information on this artist because his paintings still exist, so we can research those as well as the man who he trained under. Despite a lot of the information on him being written in Italian, there is significant research on him in English, mostly in Art History textbooks. This article can be verified because of this information on him. Because he is a person, there isn't really an argument to make about him. I am not bias toward him so writing this article from a Neutral perspective won't be too difficult. I think this is the article I am leaning towards. There are a bunch of sources on him- the only difficult part is that a lot of them are in Italian. However, he is easy to find in art history text books/book so there are plenty of sources to use. There also is not a lot of information on the wikipedia page for him so it will be easy to add to.

The next article I think would be interesting is on Ritual Coffee Roasters, a coffee roasting company based in San Francisco. This article is notable because not only do they roast their own coffee, they also operate their own cafes and wholesale of the beans. There is information on this subject because they have their own website explaining what they do, their locations, and specifics about their producers. I think this topic is interesting because I've never really learned how the process of growing coffee beans and transporting them to cafes. This company is interesting because they do both. This article can be verified through their website, as well as other peoples reviews on their yelp page. In addition, this can be written from a neutral point of view because it is a coffee roasting company. There is no serious debate over their policies or their locations; it is more of an informative topic. After looking at this article again, I realized this is academic in nature enough. There lacks historical significance making it difficult to write about.
