Purest Feeling[edit]

Thank you very much for doing all that work on the Purest Feeling article. My copy of the album and of When The Whip Comes Down are currently on lend to someone at work, although I doubt I would have gone to as much effort as you have with adding all that info' and the sidebar. Perhaps you could do the same for When The Whip Comes Down? I'll be able to if you can't. Could I be cheeky and ask you to take a look at the Happiness In Slavery article? Many, many thanks again. --Aaron Jethro

    • Hey,nice work on the WTWCD bootleg. I think the name of it comes from the fact that there's a B-side of that name by The Rolling Stones. I remember that Trent says something about how this is a chance for him to say 'fuck' on pay-per-view, but I couldn't write about it until I get my CD back.

Your message[edit]

Sarcasm is unhelpful. In your terms, your edits "wasted" a huge amount of my time, because I'd already tidied the articles into Wikipedia style, both in obvious Manual-of-Style ways and in terms of turning the idiosyncratic typography of album sleeves into proper English.

I'm currently looking at an album by Wayne Shorter, for which I made an article last night. It has his name and the album title, and the track titles, in all capitals — on the front and back and liner notes. That's just the publisher's style, though (as it is for many books, magazines, films, etc.); when giving the title we don't use all capitals; we use the Wikipedia (and normal English) naming conventions.

Note also the way to link "Japanese" and "album", and the Wikipedia policy that punctuation goes outside inverted commas unless it's part of what's being quoted. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:15, 2 September 2005 (UTC)

I'm not sure what "legally in capitals" means; legality isn't the issue, but normal English style and the Wikipedia MoS. The naming conventions don't mention not using all capitals because that's a general point, not limited to naming articles (see, for example, the article on All caps, which points out: "All caps [...] commonly appears in titles on book covers, on advertising billboards, and in dramatic newspaper headlines. It is not widely used in body copy."). It's important to remember that this is an encyclopædia, and follows different principles of style from those followed by fan sites, music journalism, etc. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 08:51, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Gerogerigegege.jpg[edit]

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Gerogerigegege.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Abu Badali 20:18, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Prince.eye.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Prince.eye.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 20:05, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat[edit]

Sorry! Reverting your edit was a mistake. I think I've been on RC Patrol too long tonight. Anyway, many apologies. —PaperTruths 04:37, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Follow-up: I think I've fixed the damage, but you might want to take a peek and make sure. Once again, very sorry! (It's unfortunate the way that edit looked through a vandal filter.) —PaperTruths 04:51, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Out of Print?[edit]

The Malice Mizer album, Voyage sans Retour, is available on CDJapan—I'm pretty sure that CDJapan doesn't sell bootlegs. Are you sure that the album is out of print? --Berserk798 23:01, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Gacktcrescent.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gacktcrescent.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:18, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:DreamFactory.jpg)[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg Thanks for uploading Image:DreamFactory.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Prince.eye.gif[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Prince.eye.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:29, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:The_Secret_of_NIMH.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The_Secret_of_NIMH.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Replaceable fair use Image:Pikasso_I.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Pikasso_I.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 15:43, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Stylised typography[edit]

The issue with title and crossing out their name isn't often an issue on Wikipedia, but when it is, it falls under the umbrella of stylised typography. Generally, the title should be written in proper English, so there are no TITLES IN CAPS, or MiXeD Cap$ or $ymBoLs for that matter. The page you have linked also has a heated discussion on its talk page, with no consensus yet reached on how the title should be handled, so please do not reference the page for your changes to the Maximum the Hormone page. I have brought up the issue with both pages at the talk page for WP:ALBUMS if you would like to see what responses will be made. --Jacob Talk 19:55, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Wumpscut[edit]

I reverted your deletion of labels and release formats form the main article simply the reason that not all the releases have individual articles and you're saying that info belongs there. First off, where does it say that label and format info HAS to go into release articles in the first place? Secondly, some underground bands that have individual album articles are getting hit with notability tags - they aren't widely known and it's an argument to justify them having separate articles for their releases in the first place. Sooner or later, since Wumpscut is not mainstream - the articles will probably be hit by notability tags and deleted eventually. I don't see a problem with containing that information in one list on the band's article. Yeah it may look sloppy, but it may help collectors find their stuff and it's all in one place, not scattered around 500 separate articles that don't cover everything in the first place. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. I've requested Riceboy Sleeps be speedily deleted so that the album article can be redirected properly. JD554 (talk) 06:57, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Anna-Varney.jpg[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Anna-Varney.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. File source problem with File:TheGoldenCommunion.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:TheGoldenCommunion.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 18:08, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 26[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Exit Popularity Contest, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages EBM and Berlin school (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
