Bahía Blanca[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I note that you have been working hard and added some important information to Bahía Blanca. As zou have been working, I have been trying to pull the article back into Wikipedia’s style and norms, such as headings and the name of the Province and Partido, for which we have precedents. Unfortunately in subsequent edits, these have been undone. This detracts from the article which would otherwise be very good.

Can I suggest that you take a minute to look at WP:MOS (Manual of style) and WP:OWN for an idea of the issues. As I am away and unable to give full attention to this, I have put a cleanup tag on the article that will hopefully attract another editor to give zou a hand in making this article acceptable. It would also be helpful if you could give references and footnotes for claims made in the text. Otherwise it is very good.

License tagging for Image:DSC00099.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DSC00099.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hi there ! Yes I am Argentinean, however I live in the UK. I have added some articles on Argentina, actually on my city, some of its main features, its people and all those things. Sometimes I get quite confused about the rules of this encyclopaedia which I do not quite understand yet. It tends to be frustrating after spending time in doing research, adding pictures and writing that the text tends to be modified -often times felt by me as without common sense but arbitrary decisions-. Anyway, I will keep trying.

Hi, bertoni, and welcome aboard. I understand your frustration when seing your work being modified, but that's the spirit of a wiki. A good tip on editing articles is to focus on the topic of the article; for instance, you've added a lot of information and even images to the Bahía Blanca article that is not directly connected to it. Monte Hermoso, Sierra de la Ventana, César Milstein, etc. have their own articles, and even though the most relevan information can be duplicated for readability, they shouldn't be expanded in the BB article. Titles sich as "General aspects, shopping, administration, museums, tourism in the area" aren't the best option. I suggest you take a look at the manual of style, check some good cities articles such as Buenos Aires, Sydney, Stockholm, etc., and perhaps even give an eye to Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities. Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad you've joined the Wikipedia, and hope you'll continue with your contributions; they surely help improve the wikipedia. Take care, and good wiking! Acelga!? Just to tell you you're doing a great job with the Bahía-related articles (Naposta Stream, Coat of Arms of Bahía Blanca, Bahia Blanca Partido, Bolsa de Comercio de Bahía Blanca, etc). Just don't forget to add the appropiate categories to the articles. BTW, I forgot to tell you, I also don't have accents in my keyboard, no problemo! Orphaned fair use image (Image:Escudo bahia blanca.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Escudo bahia blanca.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image souces[edit]

Hi, I notice you have uploaded a great many photos and a few maps claimed to be public domain without any kind of source (who created them? When where they taken etc). Wikipeda require all images to have source information so people can trace them back to the original creators and verify the copyright status. In additio a most of the images that did have sources gave no hint that the images where released to the public domain as you claim (the absense of a copyright notices does not make something public domain). Unless this information is provided I'm afraid the images will have to be deleted. Problem images include: Image:South america2.jpg, Image:Montehermoso2.jpg, Image:Bolsadecomercio1.jpg, Image:Bb3.jpg, Image:Bahiablanca10.jpg, Image:Bahiablanca5.jpg, Image:Garlatti2.jpg, Image:Laxague1.JPG, Image:Biblioteca rivadavia fachada grande.jpg, Image:Banco nacion fachada grande.jpg, Image:Frente uns alem.jpg, Image:Garlatti1.jpg, Image:MapaBHI1.jpg, Image:Cerroventana1.jpg, Image:EstuaryBHI.JPG, Image:Bahiablanca4.jpg, Image:Teatro Municipal de Bahia Blanca.jpg, Image:Barrantes.jpg, Image:Milstein3.jpg and Image:Casacultura.jpg (whew, think that was all of them). --Sherool (talk) 21:31, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Coat of arms of bahia blanca, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to a nonexistent page. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Metropolitan90 09:25, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HVRE has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this is more a dictionary definition than an encyclopedia article. Please review Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not a dictionary for the relevant policy. If you can expand the article to address these concerns, please do so, or explain your plans on the talk page.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the "prod" notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Escudo bhi.gif)[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:Escudo bhi.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:Escudo bahia blanca.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Escudo bahia blanca.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 11:44, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:42, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
