"mid-1870s"

Hi Melonkelon - I note you amended the new article I wrote on Bendigo, New Zealand, fixing the accidental double "the" (thanks), but also replacing "mid 1870s" with "mid-1870s". In New Zealand English (and, to a lesser extent, in Commonwealth English overall), the hyphen is in general more often than not omitted, although it remains a viable option. See, for example the first sentence of this, the second paragraph of this, the first item listed here, the first paragraph of this, and the paragraph starting "During the mid 1960s" here — these references are from the New Zealand Government's official website, the National Library of New Zealand, the country's main online news source, the National Encyclopedia of New Zealand, and the official national online history archive. Theoretically, all New Zealand articles which contain "mid-" should be changed by bot to "mid ", though it is (as I said) optional, and as such that might be a waste of bot-time. Grutness...wha? 11:43, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Is that so? I have trouble remembering all the differences, so sorry about that. I'll have to keep that in mind. Melonkelon (talk) 11:51, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
'Salright - as I said, it's optional anyway, so it doesn't make much difference. Grutness...wha? 01:35, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Enchanted Kingdom Contribution

Hello. I just recently read your message about my contributions to Enchanted Kingdom that did not appear constructive. I was really shocked about it for I honestly didn't know what you're talking about. So, I think you made a mistake for as long as I can remember I never did contribute anything to the page of Enchanted Kingdom.

Anyway, because of your message I decided to create an account to protect myself like the Wiki suggested.

I would just like to ask as to why did you have to revert to the previous Tina Arena image when in fact I have mentioned the copyright owner and indicated the rationale of its use? Just asking because the photo I uploaded is current and in fact more visualizing. Would you be kind enough to tell me how to post that photo again without being deleted or reverted? Thank you.

Speedy deletion nomination of Jack Joseph Osbourne

Hello Melonkelon,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Jack Joseph Osbourne for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Steve Lux, Jr. (talk) 00:36, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Redundant hatnote?

For this edit (and others like it with the same shared name), why is the hatnote redundant? Alansohn (talk) 13:59, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

I applied WP:NAMB in this instance, because all of these articles have distinct names and would not be confused with each other, and Washington Township, New Jersey redirects to the disambiguation page. But at the same time, I think the hatnote could be useful as all of these townships share the same name and are all in the same state, so I'm somewhat conflicted. Feel free to revert. Thanks, Melonkelon (talk) 22:10, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Cunnilingus

You reverted an emendation that I made under "General Practices" because "I'm not sure this information is relevant to the article". I'd like to explain why I believe it is relevant and ask for your approval to restore it. The preceding sentence says that "personal hygiene" in that area is important, because if not followed, the giving partner may find the results (odors, sweat, micro-residue) unpleasant. My addition - and I went to quite some trouble in adding documentation from legitimate sources - is intended to show that the preceding sentence is not completely correct. The existence of the used panties trade shows that those things that personal hygiene would remove are in fact of considerable value to some (economic value, even). The many men who purchase used panties (and in most cases, the dirtier the better, which I could have documented but didn't) demonstrate through their behavior that the hygiene, to them, is not only unimportant but undesirable. There are no statistics that I know of that would establish how many men this is true of, but the size and vigor of the panty-selling industry indicates that this is not a fringe belief or behavior. (I almost put that if you put "buy dirty panties" into Google, there are 1,000,000 results. I stopped looking at the results after the first 10 pages.) So I think I was making a legitimate point which is relevant to the preceding sentence and takes issue with it. Therefore I would like your permission to restore the deletion. deisenbe (talk) 10:45, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Everything you have said is true, but I'm not sure I see the relevance in the context of cunnilingus. Why is it relevant? Melonkelon (talk) 11:15, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
First, the starting point is the assumption that the opening sentence of the paragraph is relevant in this context, that women may consider personal hygiene important, because if not, various items may be unpleasant for the giving party.
If this statement is relevant, then it is relevant to take issue with the statement. Is your point that I'm not taking issue with it, but talking about another matter altogether? My intent was to illustrate that the items in question may NOT be unpleasant for the giving party, using as supporting evidence that some men pay for the presence (transmitted to panties) of the very same items that the feminine hygiene was going to eliminate.
Rereading it, it might be more clearly worded by saying:

However, the vigorous trade in soiled panties -- in Japan, they were sold for years in vending machines - shows that some men do not find poor hygiene in this area objectionable.

Does this make the relevance clear? deisenbe (talk) 16:07, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
I understand your point, but I'm still not sure if it should be included. I'd like to move this discussion to the cunnilingus talk page and see what other people think. Melonkelon (talk) 21:33, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
I have copied this discussion to the talk page. Melonkelon (talk) 21:41, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Melonkelon. Regarding Eric Diesel, would you have any objection to me added back the sections now that the Road Grading subsection is back in there (as it was a part of his Career section, before Eric's current IP removed it)?
