Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 192.168.4.31. (as of 5/13/2023) I'm sure this happened because I do use VPN (NordVPN) on this iMac sometimes. I tried ensuring the VPN was disabled, restarting, and trying to edit again, but this time it did not seem to work. Mike-c-in-mv (talk) 18:02, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

That is not your Internet address. You can find your Internet address using a site such as WhatIsMyIPAddress. However, note that it takes a full 24 hours after disabling your VPN in order for the block to clear. Yamla (talk) 20:12, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

You are right of course, Yamla, and I do apologize. My actual IP address according to that site and confirmed by Google is "47.156.234.135"; that other address is probably the address my iMac uses to access my WiFi router or somesuch. (You would think I would've caught that, given my education. Sigh ...) Again, the reason this seems to have happened in the first place is because I use VPN off & on. I have tried to remember to disable it whenever I'm using Wikipedia, but apparently I forgot at least once and somehow changing back & forth caused my valid address to be "tainted" by my use of the VPN address. Once we get this straightened out, I will do my homework and find out how to make sure it doesn't happen again. Thank you in advance for your time, attention, and especially your understanding. Again, you need to wait a full 24 hours after disabling your VPN. 47.156.234.135 is not blocked. --Yamla (talk) 21:37, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I understand now. Thank you. I will not bother you again. Mike-c-in-mv (talk) 21:51, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Misplaced unblock template[edit]

I removed an {{unblock}} template from your user page because it was throwing an error message; the template should be used only in user talk space. This is solely a technical concern, not a behavioral complaint. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 06:01, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, LaundryPizza03 ! As you can tell, I'm still learning the ropes here.
