Iranian fencers

Thanks for expanding the stubs I started last night and apologies for using lang-ar instead of lang-fa! Lugnuts (talk) 08:18, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

you are welcome. Mohsen1248 (talk) 20:14, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Referencing.

In case you missed the message at Talk:Iran at the 1976 Summer Olympics when you again revemoved the inline references and note, wp:v states "using an inline citation [...] This policy is strictly applied to all material in the mainspace—articles, lists, sections of articles, and captions—without exception".

You also can't quote external links in edit summaries which don't mention the numbers you change, and leave the original inline citation contradicting your numbers as you did at [1].

Please read wp:v before making any more edits. -- Jeandré, 2011-04-10t12:48z

This is meant to be a general page, if readers want details, then they can go to a specific article. As for references, this is a general ref which cover all the informations, so why would more specific citations be needed? all informations except the flagbearer which I put a ref for that. you can't understand it ? ok , go and see List of 2006 Winter Olympics medal winners, List of 2010 Winter Olympics medal winners and etc as featured lists. Mohsen1248 (talk) 19:04, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Re removal of note of only 5 rounds, again. Please reread the first sentence at Talk:Iran at the 1976 Summer Olympics#Referencing.
Your page reference for shooting was incorrect - it must be the page numbers as shown at the bottom corner of the document, not as shown in the PDF viewer. If this is true for the other sections also, please fix when you have time. -- Jeandré, 2011-07-17t21:09z
what a joke ! 5 rounds of what ? 5 rounds ? 50 rounds ? 500 rounds ??!! there is nothing about it in official report, just no score, it can means that he scored 0 in next rounds ! anyhow even though official report has nothing about it, but I add a note (DNF, better than "5 rounds") and I hope to not see you again !
Page numbers are correct now. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:51, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Reliable source for 1982 Asian Games

Hi Mohsen, as you're quite active on Asian Games related articles, may be you could help me to find reliable source(s) for these Games. I've only knowledge of Sports123.com, but its reliability has been questioned. If you've access to some other source (about the results and medalists) than please let me know..Thanks Bill william comptonTalk 03:51, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi, all the infos on Sports123.com are coming from www.doha-2006.com. unfortunately this website isn't working anymore but I have recorded most of the pages and I have it. but some pages are still available via archive.org. for example Athletics medalists. I searched a lot about this and I found some mistakes in these lists but the majority of them are correct. also I have some singles sources for some sports. Which sport is your question related to ?
also, did you ever work with google archive ? try this link you can find some interesting informations about the games on old newspapers. Mohsen1248 (talk)
The question is not mine, some editor doubted the reliability of Sports123.com on the Peer review of this article (please take a look at the Giants2008 comments on this page). I know this is one of the most widely used reference on many Asian Games related articles, but I don't know how to answer his question. And thanks for reminding me about Google archive, I just forgot about this very good source of information. If you've any time, then please try to answer the query of Giants2008 on the review page..Bill william comptonTalk 13:22, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't know too, how a source can be reliable ? anyhow, you can use this or this for Boxing, the second source is official and very reliable. this one for swimming. Badminton and Table tennis. Mohsen1248 (talk) 20:19, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, you're really helpful..Bill william comptonTalk 02:09, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
you are welcome Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:49, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mohsen, its again me, hey please crosscheck this article, specially in terms of provided sources. I spent a lot of time on net searching for reliable sources but you'll wonder that almost all have some sort of inconsistency with respect to others; like some says total sport events were 65, on the contrary some says the number was 69, etc. Worst part is that their official website is not working and even OCA's official website is also not updated. I've found this web archive, which also doesn't have sufficient information. Their is no sufficient media coverage of the Games, at least on web bases. As you've great access to sources, so I'm wondering if you could help me on this because if sourcing become substantial than I'd nominate it for Featured List and just to let you know that 1982 Asian Games medal table is now a featured list candidate, Thanks. Bill william comptonTalk 13:33, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I know what's the problem, at the first, 65 events were scheduled, but the organizers added some events just some days before the start. the correct number is 69, but you may find 70 on some sources because of Ice hockey tournament (premier division as a separate event). you can see this edit when a user changed the number of events when the official website changed it.
this website is a copy of official website. not sure if it's reliable but I have downloaded all the reports from the official website and all of them are set with this website.
I can't see any problem about sourcing in the page, the only mistake is about Iran's first ever medal, your source is about iran's first cross country medal, Iran won a medal in Alpine events some days earlier. ([source, unfortunately in persian). Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:40, 16 April 2011 (UTC)
Hi [I was busy in real life so replying a little late], well the main problem is that not all the sources are considered reliable. The source for Iran on article is about its first ever medal in cross country (of course in Asian Games)–"Iran bags first ever Asian Games cross country medal" (not a first ever medal in any event, for this I can use reference provided by you, I'd deal with the translation problem). The sources are still insufficient, if you've any type of access then please provide references for following:-
  1. Indonesia didn't send any athlete, but an official.
  2. Kyrgyzstan won its first ever medal in Games.
  3. Number of athletes participated, whether the count was 991, >1000, 1100, etc (I found all of these in different sources).
I just need three sources which could prove these claims and to make this article fit for featured list. I know you are a busy person [do lots of work on sports articles], but if you've any time then please help me on this and also give me some suggestions over how to reserve record of such dynamic sources and websites. I really have high ambitions with Asian Games and related articles to make them good and featured as much as possible, as you also know that non of Asian Games related article is in featured or good articles category; for this I'm also considering a lobbying for the formation of a separate Wiki Project related to Asian Games (or by the name of "Sport in Asia" with broad coverage) as there are very few users (like you) which have interest on this topic. If you've any interest and idea then please let me know, I'm looking forward to work with you on this, thanks. Bill william comptonTalk 14:33, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I searched a lot about it , but can't find any reliable source. about the number of athletes, I think it's better to go with oacasia website (991), because in these type of games, the initial number of athletes is bigger than the real number. also Ocasia website is the most reliable source for these things.
for Kyrgyzstan, it's obviously their first medal but how we can evidence it by a single source ? I don't know ! The only solution come to my mind is using all medal tables (1986-2007) (www.olympic.kg is not working right now, maybe it can help) !!! for Indonesia, they participated in the openning ceremony, but they had no athlete, I checked the official website when it was working. (also I have all the results and Indoesnia isn't there) maybe you have to wait some months ! because archive.org will be available after 6 months ! (4 months is still remaining).
about the Asian Games, the biggest problem is lack of info and reference ! (for Olympics, all official reporst are available) it's a big obstacle to make a page featured. I have no special idea about a new wiki project. currently Asian Games is a part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Multi-sport events which is not really active. also I found [Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Asian Games this]. most of the users care about 1 or 2 sports, unlike me, I like and follow almost all sports. that's why I'm making most of these pages ! lol. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:33, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I was thinking if there could be any newspaper article or any such thing which just say a single sentence that "Kyrgyzstan won its first ever medal", it doesn't matter in which event they won, well I'll raise this issue on WP:RSN and for new Wiki Project — Asian Games, I'd like to present this brief presentation:
Name of the WP – WikiProject Asian Games [or Sport Asia]
Goals – Create and improve articles whose content has connection with the list provided below (under "Scope"). This project will cover all the multi-sports events of Asia and its regions (East, West, Central, North-East and South), all the Asian Championships, sports originated or mostly played in Asia (e.g. Taekwondo, Kabaddi, Karate, Judo, Wushu, Sepak takraw, Yoga, etc).
Scope of the project:-
By rough and fast test of checking linked articles, Asian Games cover >2,600 articles and still hundreds of notable subjects seeking their place on Wikipedia, which may increase this count over 3500 articles.
  • ASEAN ParaGames
  • Asian Beach Games
  • Asian Games
  • Asian Indoor Games
  • Asian Indoor-Martial Arts Games
  • Asian Martial Arts Games
  • Asian Para Games
  • Asian Youth Games
  • Children of Asia International Sports Games
  • East Asian Games
  • Central Asian Games
  • Southeast Asian Games
  • South Asian Games
  • West Asian Games
  • All the Sports Championships of Asia (e.g. Wrestling, Weightlifting, Field Hockey, etc)
  • All the biographical articles of Asian athletes and sports-persons
  • Sports originated in Asia
Current situation:–
  1. Under WikiProject Multi-sports event, almost a dead project [even its coordinator (AngChenrui) is also not active since December].
  2. [As much I know], none of the Asian Games related article has featured or even good article status; most sorrowful state that only very few articles are even in B-class category.
  3. Users are still confused about the scope of WP:Olympics and WP:MSE, as they clash on the talk pages of many articles.
Any current proposal – Yes, there is a [dead] proposal made on November 2010, but the proposer is also not active, also there is no description. This proposal seems like to talk about only Asian Games, not like this new proposal.
Hope, this brief description has introduced you with my idea of this project. Please comment on this and tell me if you've any innovative idea about it, thanks. Bill william comptonTalk 15:20, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
looks like a good idea, but first be sure that it won't end like MSE project. not sure how many users are interested.
but I have another note about 1982 Asian Games medal table, the map is wrong, it's the current map and ex-soviet countries didn't exist at the time of 1982. I know it must be really difficult to change the map, but change it, if it's possible. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:39, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
I know the complications related to this notion of new Wiki Project, this is a reason I'm consulting with you. If you think it's a good idea then I hope you'd help me on this. It would be really helpful if you make contact with some other user(s) who have worked on Asian Games related article(s), so that we may know about different perspectives, I'll try my best in contacting users interested in Asian Games and thanks for citing this terrible mistake I made with this map, but I've changed it, not a big deal for an aspiring computer science engineer!!
Hey, if you want then you may join me to work on this portal of Asian Games, which I've just created yesterday..--Bill william comptonTalk 18:30, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Calender of 1951 Asian Games

Hi Mohsen, I observed you changed the calender table modified by me, I assume you must have some special reason behind this, but could you please tell me what reason you had?, because it's a pretty much common trend to represent the number of finals per day by using bullets inspite of numeral count. — Bill william comptonTalk 12:28, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

I thought it's obvious, it's good for 2008 Olympics (for example) when we have a single page per event, but here, I think it's useless. Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:03, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps you didn't read me correctly, I asked about bullets. I was also not in favor of multiple wikilinks and might remove them after I had finished my work; well it's my fault, I should have tagged article for "underconstruction", but I don't get what is problem in using bullets? If there is not any then please restore them. — Bill william comptonTalk 14:41, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
OK, I made some changes, take a look. But the current outcome is a little ugly. Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:57, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Coordinator needed

Hi Mohsen, would you be interested in becoming a coordinator for the Asian multi sporting events under the Wikipedia:WikiProject Multi-sport events? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:34, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Oh no thanks, I will do what I can to improve all these pages but I won't take any responsibility. being just a member is better for me. Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:46, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Basically, you become the leader when it comes to these events (there really is not extra work involved) Intoronto1125TalkContributions 15:03, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

Hello, would you be interested in helping with the results section of this article? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:10, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

for the main page yes for sure. but I'm not sure that such unimportant championship need a single page for all single events. Mohsen1248 (talk) 13:55, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, the European Championships have single articles for every event. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:59, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
But European Championships is a major tournament in high level, Asian Championships isn't. you can see the records and number of athletes per event. also I don't like some of the policies of Wikipedia:WikiProject Athletics and because of that I prefer to stay away from them as far as possible. but Ok I will do it. thanks for telling me. hi

I would like you to help me in 1986 ABC Championship for Women for now and i would need your help in the 3 championship that follows they are all archieved in fiba.com

Hi, I was planned to create that pages, but I'm a little busy with other things, Probably I will do it in few days. Mohsen1248 (talk) 10:34, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Iranian records in athletics

Yes, I know. You like to edit the city. But it's about the place, not the city.Montell 74 (talk) 12:13, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Place can means city. is there any rule (or MOS) about it ? If not I like to write the city name, I like the consistency and stadium name is not available for most of the records. also I can't see stadium name here "List of world records in athletics" too. Mohsen1248 (talk) 12:39, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
You are right. There is no rule. To edit stadium names is quite more work. But I personally edit stadium names when it is available. Because it give more reason to link all the places and "cities". And it is really the exact place, where the record was achieved. Keep up good work!Montell 74 (talk) 12:47, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Nonsense

I've declined your speedy on Behrad Mohammadhosseini because it isn't nonsense in Wikipedia's definition. Nonsense here means things like 'trxryvtiuyiyttr' or 'assay the pigeon hereinafter mugwump fortitude'. I'm saying nothing about notability in this case, but have tagged it for referencing. Peridon (talk) 21:51, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

thanks for your attention, maybe you are right, but what I have to do ? this person (with this profile) doesn't exist ! to me it's a Pure vandalism, so I will add another deletion tag. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:05, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
If you've got good evidence that they don't exist, tag db-hoax and leave a note on talk page. ('Evidence for non-existence? Silly sod...' No, there can be a total lack of ghits except for WP - I've just deleted one on those grounds and nominated it on the French WP. Make sure there isn't a close different spelling, though.) 2012 Wrestling

Sorry about the reverting, but I stated my reasons earlier, of you feel otherwise I am okay with that as well. Do you have any information on the World Championships in Istanbul? Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:53, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Is it really the number one sport? Thought it was football (soccer) (at least that's how it is in Canada even though everyone thinks its ice hockey) anyways, do you have the list of the participating nations/athletes? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 03:07, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
That is true here too, but the media usually covers all the sports Canada has a contender (sports like shooting get no coverage). Wrestling (especially women's) is big here. There is not confirmation of the number of athletes/countries competing? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 03:31, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, as always, for little edits like this. Very important additions, and (non-latin/cyrillic) ones that are pretty much impossible for me! SFB 20:43, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Any good source where you are following the world championships? (The official website is behind I believe). Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:36, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm watching the tournament, but you can check this too. Mohsen1248 (talk) 13:41, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, on the official website CASTILLO of Colombia did not win the Italian won. Any clarification on that? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:43, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
No, Colombia won, She also beat SEN in next round in a cery exciting match and will wrestle against AZE in semifinal in few minutes or maybe few seconds. Mohsen1248 (talk) 13:45, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Its unbelievable the official website shows the wrong information. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
lol, Welcome to FILA World. Seems they corrected it now. Mohsen1248 (talk) 13:53, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Last year they changed the system and it became really weird the results system. When does Consolation Bracket start for the Women's categories? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:01, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
I think it's already started. Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:06, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Table widths at the 2011 FIBA Asia Championship

For all of the petty disputes you incited, can't we just follow the widths found at EuroBasket 2011? The PF, PA and PD should at least have wider widths than the rest of them as there'll be at least 3 characters there when the round is over, while W and L should get have at most 20px as there is only one character/cell. If you still insist, I can bring this to WP:3O and anyone with a sane mind will see the logic. –HTD 11:39, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

No we cann't just follow the widths found at EuroBasket 2011, there is no reason or logic for this. and next time don't write in my talk page if you can't be polite, it seems really hard for you mr sane mind. Mohsen1248 (talk) 12:20, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Why is there no logic and reason for the suggestion? –HTD 12:40, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Why there is ? usually widths are better to be equal. expect for some special sports like Cricket. Basketball's tables are similar to football's and handball's tables. this is my logic. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:23, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Unlike handball and football (dunno in cricket), basketball stats in league tables always approach triple digits, most of the time two digits, while wins and losses are always in single digits (at least in intercontinental championships' groupings where there are 4-6 teams per group), hence the logic that the columns of wins, losses, games played and points are always narrower than PF, PA and PD, which are always in triple digits (PD even has at least 4 characters with the +/- signs). 30px looks to be OK though for PF, PA and PD -- i thought they were too narrow, but there's not enough margin/padding, but I won't argue with you on that. I'm asking consideration for making the W and L columns in 20px. I'd be happy if you'd agree that same width in Pld and Pts. There's no logic having equal column widths when they're inherently unequal, at least in the number of characters in each cell. –HTD 13:31, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Sorry but I really can't understand your logic (you are free to use your own special words), and in Handball stats in league tables often approach triple digits. I'm not agree at all. I tried many different ways and current version looks better to me. You can see these tables in EuroBasket page (or other pages) because nobody really cares about these things except probably me and you. (and right now, I do not care about EuroBasket pages) and this page is not even a good one for using as an example, even the title must change to 2011 EuroBasket. Mohsen1248 (talk) 03:53, 19 September 2011 (UTC)
For some reason, "EuroBasket <year>" is the more common name than "2011 EuroBasket"; it was only you anyway who unilaterally moved all of those articles from "FIBA <continent> Championship <year>" to "<year> FIBA <continent> Championship, trashing the established (though implied) consensus. Though I'd agree on having the <year> first on article titles that have the word "Championship" or "Cup." If it hasn't, the year should be at the end. Hence "EuroBasket 2011", "Super Bowl XL", etc.
OK, let's not get technical, and I'm sorry if my words appeared technical. Let's do it in simple English:
  • Played, wins and losses have one digit. A team can play up to 9 games, hence on those W and L columns, you'd always see 1 digit every time.
  • PF and PA will always have the maximum of three digits. For some reason, your 30px looks OK on my monitor, so I won't raise a fuss.
  • PD will always have the maximum of three digits, plus the plus/minus sign, so there are 4 symbols there.
  • The most number of digits for the Pts column is two.
Ergo,
  • Pld, W and L columns should be narrower than the other columns since they'd always have 1 digit.
  • PF and PA columns should be wider than the W and L columns since the maximum digits there would always be 3.
  • PD columns should be wider than or be as wide the PF and PD columns since the maximum digits there would always be 3, plus the =/- signs.
  • The Pts column's width should be somewhere between the widths of W & L and PF & PA.
Let's see the widths in each column for the other FIBA championships:
As you can see, there's no single agreement on how wide the columns should be, but it's only you who's insisting on having the same widths for everyone. The logic is: one digit=narrower, two digits=narrow, three digits=wide, three digits+=/- sign: wider. –HTD 11:27, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Even this EuroBasket 2011 Most move to 2011 EuroBasket, I can't remember where I read this but this is a rule (or MOS at least or something in Sports Project) about having year number in start of the article name. anyway I don't care about EuroBasket 2011 right now.
It's really simple, this is the result of "Copy and Paste", if I change these articles, I doubt anyone (except you of course) reverts my edits. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:51, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Do you accept my arguments on at least the W and L columns being wider? I'd probably leave the other columns to your preferred widths. If you're concerned on the most current tournament being different from the others I can always change them. Or maybe create a new template with the predetermined columns so that it can used everywhere.
P.S.: I do admit the case of EuroBasket 2011 is sort off odd. Like I said before, it has something to do with the title not having the words "Tournament" or "Championship" or "Cup" or "League" or "season" or any similar word. Well the year number was always in the last part of the title for basketball articles except for the World Championship until you moved them; good thing nobody was like you or else s/he could've reverted it on sight, like what you always do. –HTD 13:30, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

2011 fiba asia

It is extremely unlikely, but there is a mathmatical chance for Iran to finish 5th still. If Lebanon does not defeat Chinese Taipei in the next game, then there will be no further possibility of a 5 way tie at 3 wins and 2 losses. Cheers18abruce (talk) 02:44, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

It's almost impossible but Yes theorically you are right. I Didn't think about that. Mohsen1248 (talk) 03:03, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

I really don't understand why you just kept reverting the changes relating to Jhohanny Jean. According all official documents his name is Jhohanny and he have TWO LAST NAMES (Spanish Customs), the first JEAN and the second BARTERMI.

weightlifting

Where would I indicate on the results table a new record was established? Also would you add anything else to these pages Weightlifting at the 2011 Pan American Games – Men's 62 kg? Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:05, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

It's always a problem for me to find a right place for "new records", it seems it's not just my problem. lol, here you have enough width. so I think:
Rank Name Country Group B.weight (kg) Snatch (kg) Clean & Jerk (kg) Total (kg)
1st place, gold medalist(s) Sergio Álvarez  Cuba A 55.91 119 148 WR 267 GR

or something like this 1999 World Weightlifting Championships – Men's 56 kg. also I think you have to remove that "Final" section. Weightlifting has no preliminary round ! only Group A or B or C ! Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:22, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

I put the final because the article would have the contents shown at the top. However will do. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:44, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi, how about if one record is broken multiple times in the same event, how would I list that? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 20:42, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Since you are not writing the detail of the lifts (I mean 1st attempt, 2nd attempt, etc) you have to use this format or you can just ignore these intermediate records. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:09, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Would you ignore the intermediate records or right them? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 21:21, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
I think it's better to not ignore them, because they still count. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:25, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 21:32, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Hey, since you are a contributor to the weightlifting world championships i ask you: Which format should be used? The more detailed one with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd attempt or just the total in each Snatch and Clean & Jerk? Secondly here the list is out but the weight of each competitor is missing, should we wait with the subarticles or start and then add it when available since it´s pretty important? Kante4 (talk) 21:08, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I prefer the detailed one, I know it needs more time, but I will do it.
I think it's better to wait a little. they will publish the final list by Group (A, B, C) one or two days before the tournament. this list is not final and some changes will happen. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:16, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
That was my preferred way too, will (help) create the subarticles when the list is available. Kante4 (talk) 23:53, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Good thanks. Mohsen1248 (talk) 00:24, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

FILA Wrestling World Championships

Hello. Thanks for your contribution to the article. I have a question. You made "team ranking by points". But I cannot find the sources in FILA's database. Could you tell me where the sources is? Isebito (talk) 03:40, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I made this page almost 4 years ago, so I really can't remember my sources exactly. but I know I found these rankings from different sources, but for few editions I had no source and counted it by myself. but now I think it's not a good idea and there's a possibility to have some error in this list. I want to remove the second and third placers and keep only the champion because of that. Mohsen1248 (talk) 15:42, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. How did you count the points? I'm sorry to ask over again. Isebito (talk) 15:31, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
You are welcome, I have the rankings in Database. and I know the ranking method
before 1989 (or 1987, I'm not sure now), 1st place ==> 6pts, 2nd ==> 5pts, ... , 6th ==> 1pt.
after 1989 (or 1987) 1st ==> 10pts, 2nd ==> 9pts, ... , 10th ==> 1pt. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:33, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Who replaces Italy in European Olympic qualifying tourney?

As Italy allready qualified via the World Cup, there is now a vacancy in the European qualifying tournament, which should be filled by one of the 3 runners-up in pre-qualifying tournaments (Azerbaijan, Romania or Netherlands). Do you have an idea which one is it, or what are the criteria that determine the replacement teams? It's definitely somewhere in the regulations but I can't find it...--Nitsansh (talk) 17:16, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I read somewhere that they are ranked according to the results of all 4 games in pre qualification tournament. It sounds logical and Netherlands will qualify. also Netherlands are ahead of Romania and Azerbaijan by world ranking. so I think Netherlands is the team that will play in the final round. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:55, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
I doubt that this qualifies as verifiable source... --Nitsansh (talk) 22:02, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes I know. that's why I'm waiting for official announcement from CEV or FIVB before editing that page. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:26, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

P.S. there are two versions regarding the date and venue of NORCECA women's qualifying tournament... one says Mexico in January and the other Dominican Republic in December, or something like that... none of the sources has info on that...--Nitsansh (talk) 22:05, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

in FIVB.org in calendar section you can see both versions ! (Meixo being host looks close to the truth). I think Mexico will host it because you can find it here too. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:26, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Note

What more than one word monstrosity will be used for notes? All i can think of is default, walkover and forfeit. What else? –HTD 14:30, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

somteimes forfeit needs explaining, 2008 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship#Group I. and since the outcome is the same, so what's the problem? it doesn't have any bad effect at all. Mohsen1248 (talk) 14:51, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
That's not within the bounds of the basketballbox to handle. That should be on the prose. –HTD 16:31, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Maybe, but forfeiting during the game is still a part of game report, I'm not persistent on this format at all, especially because the outcome (what most matters for me) is the same, but for an obvious reason I think this one is better and honestly I can't see any problem in this format. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:26, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
This is the abuse I was talking about: it's a slippery slope. Imagine the template as a box score. The explanations of how much time was remaining when a team defaulted is not on the box score. I'd prefer forfeit, walkover or default as those are, as what you said, game outcomes. Anything else, like the time elapsed when all but one player fouled out, etc., should be on the prose. If a prose is unworkable (but shouldn't be the case, but if a prose will look awkward), a footnote may be a good way to keep out long passages from the template. –HTD 17:34, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
So what's your suggestion for these examples, 2011 FIBA Asia Championship#Group B, 2008 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship#Group I and 1993 ABC Championship#Group D. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:39, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Just for info, in 1993 both teams tried to lose (to not facing China in Quarterfinal) and referee stopped the game. Mohsen1248 (talk) 17:44, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Write some prose, if it's too short, use a footnote, if the footnote is too long, use a indented prose immediately below the basketballbox (see what I did here). Use the note parameter as a linebreak below the scoreline and not as a separate row. I would prefer the displayed text below the score to be smaller. –HTD 17:51, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
OK, fine, even though I still prefer to have these proses in the same color as boxscore. not like this. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:16, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
If you want the "notes" to be more striking you can use bullets. Or enclose the bulleted prose into a table with the same color and width as the boxscore. –HTD 18:19, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I Didn't get your mean, go and edit it by yourself. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:23, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I considered doing it on the 2011 page, but the box score is white so it won't matter. On a gray box it'll look like this;
  • Note here.
That way, all of these notes are at the bottom and not at the middle of the box score. –HTD 18:39, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
is it gray ?? to me it's very black ! (maybe it's because of my browser but I can't see them in same width too) the idea of having notes at the bottom is great but not in this way. also there will be a slim white line. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:19, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
lol either you have a prehistoric browser or something else is wrong. The white line is there since there are two separate tables; it's also a reminder that everything below the white line isn't a part of box score. –HTD 01:51, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
I use both IE and firefox IE, firefox. not in the same width (and same color in IE), maybe it's better to write these notes below all results of the group. Mohsen1248 (talk) 13:23, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
I'd recommend that if there's no chance of prose being added. –HTD 05:56, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
OK, good. Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:27, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Contribution request

Hi, I would like to congratulate you for the huge amount of effort made this year round here in Wikipedia. Could you please come by to this draft and make some suggestions and collaborations? I would really apretiate that. Thanks so much. Oscar 22:50, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi, this article is close to perfect, there is no mach mure that I can add
* I think it's better to add her wrong name "Yudelquis Contreras", (sometimes known as Yudelquis Contreras)
* She is the second weightlifter from Dominican Republic won medal at World Weightlifting Championships, (only after Eridania Segura who won a bronze in 1992 tournament). I think it has to be mentioned somewhere in the article.
* also I think it's better to have summary about her major results, something like this table. Reference
Year Venue Weight Record (kg) / Rank
Snatch Cl&Jerk Total
Olympic Games
2008 Beijing, China 53 kg 93 / 4 111 / 5 204 / 5
World Championships
2003 Vancouver, Canada 53 kg 77.5 / 15 102.5 / 14 180.0 / 13
2005 Doha, Qatar 53 kg 95 / 3rd place, bronze medalist(s) 116 / 4 211 / 3rd place, bronze medalist(s)
2006 Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic 53 kg 92 / 4 113 / 5 205 / 4
2007 Chiang Mai, Thailand 53 kg No mark 107 / 12 No mark
2009 Goyang, South Korea 53 kg 91 / 4 111 / 6 202 / 4
2010 Antalya, Turkey 53 kg 93 / 2nd place, silver medalist(s) 113 / 6 206 / 3rd place, bronze medalist(s)
2011 Paris, France 53 kg 95 / 2nd place, silver medalist(s) 111 / 9 206 / 5
  • I hope it helps, even though I am not sure if this is what you are looking for. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:29, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Of course it helps! Thanks! Is very nice and complete table. Where should I locate it? Please check back the improvements you suggested. Thanks again, Oscar 00:33, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
Good, I made a little edits on that, just my suggestions. Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:31, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

Help with wrestling terms

Hi Mohsen, hope you're doing fine. It's been a while since I last communicated with you. I'm working on an article, developing the results' tables with the reference of busanasiangames.org. I'm having difficulty understanding some technical terms related to wrestling, like mentioned in the "Remark" column here, would you please help me out with this. Also, few pages are missing in the archive, do you happen to know other source(s) that may have results of 2002 Asian Games, thanks and regards. — Bill william comptonTalk 04:26, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'm fine. how are you ?
Yes, Wrestling had a very strange format back in 2002, this "Remark" column is the way the match ended, this page can help you.
PO ==> 3 Classiciation pts for winner, 0 for loser
PP ==> 3 Classiciation pts for winner, 1 for loser
PA, TO, and ST ==> 4 Classiciation pts for winner, 0 for loser
SP ==> 4 Classiciation pts for winner, 1 for loser
and in the end, the group winner (by Classiciation pts, then head-to-head, then Technical Pts) advances to the knockout round. if we have only 3 groups, an extra repechage round determines the 4th semi finalist.
use the Japanese version (or Korean) of the site, just replace "Eng" with "JPN". it works better for most of the sports. also you can use Japan Wrestling Federation Website, this for example. you can find the other results in this website too. You just have to change that "965" number. also you can use this PDF file, it is a kind of official report. check pages 766 to 783 for wrestling results. Mohsen1248 (talk) 05:12, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm doing great! Enjoying my winter break :) thanks, Mohsen, it helped a lot. — Bill william comptonTalk 10:11, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

XYZ at the Asian Games

Hey Mohsen, this is me again. At this time I'm working on articles of type "XYZ at the Asian Games" (XYZ=Asian countries). I observed how beautifully you saved this article from a stupid prod. May I know what's your source for these types of tables, because I'm thinking to develop other related articles too in such manner (currently Myanmar). — Bill william comptonTalk 17:06, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi, unfortunately I have no reliable source (in wikipedia standards) for that. I got the full list of medalists from Doha2006 website, and I counted it one by one. there were some small mistakes on Doha2006 website, but still way better than Ocasia.org. I also checked local websites for each country, for some them (like Pakistan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Qatar and Kuwait) I found good and reliable sources but unfortunately Afghanistan and Myanmar aren't among them.
You can use this but the data here is not set with mine !!! by my count, Myanmar won 1-2-1 in 1958 and 2-1-5 in 1962. Mohsen1248 (talk) 18:41, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
I was in impression that we wouldn't find any reliable source, but there's nothing wrong with asking :). Thanks Mohsen for taking the time to look at this, your findings are much appreciated. — Bill william comptonTalk 14:07, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Your Input Requested!

Hi, please give your input in the discussion going on Asian Games task force talk page, thanks. — Bill william comptonTalk 14:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
Mohsen, it's very urgent please don't ignore this. We need opinions of all users, and consensus over this matter.

Hi, I didn't ignore it. I just waited to know others opinions. Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:52, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
