Information icon Hello, I'm DB1729. I noticed that you recently removed content from Category:American legal scholars without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hello and welcome!

I couldn't help but notice that it appears you may be having a rough start here. Don't let this discourage you. Many new editors seem to make the same mistake of jumping directly into the challenging task of creating a new article. This can be particularly difficult if attempting to create a biographical article. There are many hurdles that can trip one up. I would suggest for a while just making minor edits on articles you have some interest in. Moving on to more complex and bolder changes as you feel more comfortable and confident. This will give you sense of how WP works and you will gradually become familiar with some of the many rules, policies, expectations and unwritten practices here. Then you will know if and when writing your first article is right. I myself have been registered for 10 months and have yet to create an actual article, though I have created several templates. Hope this helps you out. Best of luck! --DB1729 (talk) 01:58, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. It's Mona. Thanks for the encouragement. I wanted to post a short piece about a lawyer. I was looking through the prominent lawyers list and there was someone missing. Anthony P. Farley is brilliant and influential in Critical Legal Studies. So, I approached the entry the opposite way. I think I found a template to use, but I don't know why I am not allowed to post a photo to which I have all copyrights. Any suggestions as to how I can upload his picture? Are there people on Wikipedia who will review and then post the piece? MonaRWriter (talk) 19:32, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What template are you using?
I have never uploaded a photo myself, so I'm certainly not the best person to ask, but I've read that if you are having problems, you could upload it directly to Wikimedia Commons at here. I think there you would declare you have the copyright and release it for public use. But it might be more complicated than that. Once it's uploaded to commons, then you and everyone can use it from there. You can read Wikipedia:Uploading images to see if it helps. If you continue to have problems, Wikipedia:Teahouse might be best place to get answers to any questions you may have. --DB1729 (talk) 21:21, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you could start by creating a draft of your article in your own sandbox (link is upper right between your talk page and preferences links). It will be visible to everyone and I or someone else can then look it over for any issues, make suggestions or directly make fixes themselves. This will give you time to refine it to your liking, make any corrections or other tweaks before it's ready go live. Articles are not required to have photos, and you can always add one later if you are still having problems with uploading.
Importantly, I would strongly recommend reading Help:Your first article. May save you a bunch of time. --DB1729 (talk) 11:33, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, it appears you are not yet auto-confirmed as far as your user status, see WP:CONFIRM. It looks like need this before you can do some of the things you are attempting. --DB1729 (talk) 12:09, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
