I notice you've also been reverting the various IP socks that have popped up. Have you also noticed a recent spike in activity, and have you seen any IP ranges besides 36 etc 180.253 etc? Regards, CMD (talk) 16:48, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet, as far as I know only 5 IP's which I saw uses the '180' ranges than the '36'. Didn't know yet if he gets a new IP like the one which you just revert before. — иz нίpнόp ʜᴇʟᴘ! 20:06, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A question on flags, an answer on flags

[edit]

Just seeing if I can offer an explanation for the flag of Malaysia not looking as good as other flags with horizontal striping. Basic reason is simply the number of lines, the Malay flag has fourteen lines, the Liberian and Malayan flags have eleven and the American flag thirteen so from that we can at least assume odd numbered lines look better than even numbered ones, probably would require more flags to look at to know for sure. Don't know if it's been answered by someone else or yourself or even if this has been suggested already but just offering a possible reason. tutterMouse (talk) 14:59, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Great answer! Thanks for that, you are the first person to answer that since I'm already waiting for a long time. Again, thanks! :) — "ʀᴜ" ɴᴏᴛ ʀᴜssɪᴀɴ ᴡʜᴜᴛ? 16:50, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
..and may I know how did you see my question on my userpage?. :P — "ʀᴜ" ɴᴏᴛ ʀᴜssɪᴀɴ ᴡʜᴜᴛ? 16:58, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I read userpages sometimes to know more about my fellow Wikipedians. I got there though by your request on WP:RFPP. I'm glad I could answer your question though! tutterMouse (talk) 18:27, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just read over this. I reckon TutterMouse may be right, because when there is an odd number of stripes, it's symmetrical, and humans love symmetry. All the other flags have red on the top and the bottom, except for the KL flag, which has white on the top and bottom of both sections. CMD (talk) 13:36, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, now I understand why the flag thumbnail looks weird in small size but looks OK in large size. — "ʀᴜ" ɴᴏᴛ ʀᴜssɪᴀɴ ᴡʜᴜᴛ? 17:44, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Malaysian subdivisions

[edit]

Hey, I've been looking through the Malaysia article, and although it's about in the size range the MOS indicates wikipedia articles should have (it's 51kB of prose which is between the 40kB optimum and the 60kB soft max), I think the subdivisions section is undeveloped. Do you have any good English sources summarising the different powers and roles of state, federal, and district (division?) governments? Regards, CMD (talk) 17:52, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, cool. So am I. Thanks for creating the food-related articles you did. Made my life a lot easier lol. Haleth (talk) 15:01, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. Keep in mind though, that especially with food in Sabah and Sarawak (as I have discovered), there are a lot of names being thrown around, but they actually refer to the exact same thing. Mostly because of a lack of widespread use of a standardized lingua franca besides Malay, but also because they are very poorly documented in English. I found out just the other day for example, that kuih pasung and jelurut and the Sarawakian selorot are one and the same, and so is lamban and kelupis. Not variants, just different names by different communities. Linongot is also not treated as a dessert, but simply a variant of plain rice wrapped with the same leaves. Haleth (talk) 15:25, 26 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks for the tip about the referencing tools. Definitely makes my life easier, hehe. Haleth (talk) 23:16, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

History of Malaysia picture

[edit]

Ranking Update, I much preferred your old picture to your new one. The colour scheme of the new one makes it impossible to make anything out at the resolution of the history box. CMD (talk) 15:38, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, actually I'm preferred the old one too. But this guy thinks that using a British flag seems to be a biased. Did you see what he's doing here?. — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 15:43, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I will restore the old picture. — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 16:12, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Silly reasoning really. The history of the entire world stretches back beyond the time of Christ. As for "parts of Malaysia were under British rule", the entirety of Malaysia was. That's why bits of Malaysia aren't part of Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. This is not to say the picture is perfect, but a perfect picture in everyone's view is probably impossible, and a British flag seems more than justified considering British rule lasted longer than an independent Malaya has. CMD (talk) 18:05, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Since I'm taking a good look at the picture due to this, if you still have the base file you used, how does it look with the British flag behind the building, rather than transparent in front of it? As pretty as flags can be, we don't really want the whole image to be flags (although if it's uglier that's not an improvement). Also, I just noticed the Indonesian picture includes Malaysian Borneo and Brunei in its map. Very amusing. CMD (talk) 18:24, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, finally there is someone who understand the meaning behind the graphic, that's why I choose to put the British flag because all of the territories that make Malaysia now was once part of the British Empire. I'm suspecting the guy is an anti-UK based on his contribution characteristics. By the way, I have put the building in front of the flag and modifying the building picture because I can't get the old version since I'm using a new computer in January. Well, about the Indonesian picture.. Do not be surprised even the Indonesian Hall of Independence publish a map which include the territory of Brunei, Sarawak, Sabah and East Timor. I think the creator take the map from there. You know also Soekarno have a high vision to conquer these territory during the confrontation era and I believe there is still many radical Indonesian wants to continue this vision even the conflict has past. This situation were just same like the Philippines who think the whole part of Sabah are belong to them without researching the history more deep. — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 22:52, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah well, it's not like it's unique. I'm sure there would be some who wouldn't object to Pattani and Moro Mindanao joining Malaysia. I'm sure any pretty picture of the building/square would suffice. CMD (talk) 23:33, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, especially their relatives in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and east Sabah. I have see many of them has a blood relations on this area. — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 20:46, 20 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Would fading the Union Jack to just a blue field and having the coat of arms of the Federation of Malaya, North Borneo, and Sarawak on the right in the background work? Would it fit? That would give a hint about federation and remove the dominance of the Union Jack (we'd miss Singapore but it's not there now after all). CMD (talk) 12:10, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is that means we should remove the building and modified the Union Jack like this flag? — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 06:52, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, the building is the only thing we have that isn't flags. I meant the British flag could fade into the blue colour on that North Borneo flag, perhaps 1/3 of the way in, and then the coat of arms, like the one in that flag, could be placed on the right. It's just an idea though, I'm not sure it would fit. CMD (talk) 09:57, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it is fit for three coat of arms if we still keep the building. How about if we modified like this one? — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 11:37, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's a shame to lose the building, but the new one you've put at File:History of Malaysia.png does look nice. You should flip the British and Malaysian flags though, so the British one is on the left, so the flow of time is depicted left->right. Any way to get a map in the background as well, like the Indonesian one? It'd actually match up with the coat of arms. CMD (talk) 11:42, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, as the graphic doesn't have enough space to keep the building, we don't have choice other than to remove it. By the way, is it ok now? — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 12:50, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's odd for me to see the flags quite that square, but it looks nice. Why couldn't North Borneo go and give itself a shield without arms sticking out the top right? CMD (talk) 13:21, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, then we must ask the past British Government why did they choose an arms like that. — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 01:52, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AIV report

[edit]

Just a note. To expand a little upon what I said there, most of this editors edits appear to be in good faith (even if they're not in line with policy). In the interest of not biting a newbie making apparently good-faith edits I feel that if you feel sanctions would be necessary this would be better handled through a discussion at ANI, rather than through my unilaterally blocking them based on the vandalism noticeboard report. My advice, however, would be to continue to try and engage the user in discussion, preferably non-templated. In the meantime I'll pending changes protect the article so that their changes can be reviewed before being published live. Whoops, he's autoconfirmed. Instead I've watchlisted the page and I'll try to keep an eye on it, as well. Ks0stm (TCGE) 14:54, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant

[edit]

Thank you for your edit today. I have had to remove your edit and citations from the infobox in section 14, as this is for countries that have formally designated ISIS as a terrorist organization. Your citations do not support this; the first, for example, only says that the Malaysian government has voiced its opposition to ISIS. The designation of a country as a terrorist organization is a formal government ruling, and when a government does this it adds the name of the group to an official list (a good example is the citation for the US in the infobox). I have moved your edit to para 2 of the Lead as a more suitable place for it and used only one citation, as the Lead should not contain too many footnotes. --P123ct1 (talk) 08:14, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome and thanks for the response. Ok, I will keep it up to date if there is some official document been released by the government. — ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ ʜᴜʜ? 08:22, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re:A barnstar for you!

Lel. Thanks. Actually, there are more sources and info that I can find there. Besides that, I even explored around Sandakan to search more information like for example at the Communication section, I got that from the Sandakan Heritage Museum but idk how to put the source. I went to the War Memorial Park. I think I could get enough info there for the Sandakan Death March to make it a featured article. I also went to some memorial monument near the Sandakan Municipal Council such as about the founder of Sandakan, Sandakan Death March etc. But… idk how to make reference for that type of source >< -- MalaysiaboyChat 13:44, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

About the Communication part, I was looking at one of the poster thing at one of the room at the museum. How am I going to do the reference? Poster 1 @ Sandakan Heritage Museum? lel. I saw at some of the memorial monuments some important dates of Sandakan such as the date of Sandakan liberated 19/10/1945. I only wrote like liberated - 19/1/45 I forgot lah… Tmrw, I'll go there again after going to the post office ^^ -- MalaysiaboyChat 14:02, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

yes, there is no source to this section, but i just want to make the articles more insteresting as i'm a Malaysian.i love Malaysian football. lets start doing this section so that younger generation will know about out Malaysian football team. nothing personal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meeneunos10 (talkcontribs)

  • oh, i search through every Malaysian footballer one by one in this wikipedia. yes it is not that easy but i just search player that already retired and player that i think had the most caps. Yet still i stuck at the Top goalscorer section because it's really hard to find any. Our Malaysian bodies that manage the Malaysia football team don't do all this work so it is up to us to do something useful, i guess. Meeneunos10 (talk) 01:42, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's poor! Just because there are other articles which don't follow things like the MOS, it doesn't mean you should continue on that path and make violations! Mas y mas (talk) 10:06, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please tell me you're not another one of them hard headed idiots??? And don't get me started! Pretty ironic as well. You didn't even know there was an MOS for this. Now all of a sudden you argue "not strictly". Like I said, don't get me started. You're a regular editor for this page therefore you want to make it the best article it can be. Since that's the case, why don't you follow things like the MOS. Look at the more "sophisticated" pages like the World Cup. It follows the MOS, no spaces in scores! Again, just because other articles failed to meet certain policies, it doesn't make it right to continue violating them. You also question why no admins are all over this issue. Well, there's loads of pages on Wiki, they can't be everywhere. Mas y mas (talk) 10:34, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
