Hello, I was disapointed to see that my grandfather Ser Josph Cushley of the Highland L.I. 16th Battalion was not included as he was a recipient of the DC In The Field medal. In fact he does not show up in much of anything but I assume he did something to deserve the honor. I may in fact be looking at all the wrong places but I have his actual medal in front of me and it was awarded to J. Cushley for DCIF # 41192, High L.I. I understand that he was in the 16th battalion. I'm in California, I never met the man as he did years later from complications of mustered gas, and I would love to know what he actually did.

Thanks, Stephen

This is a work in progress and currently only includes those awards gazetted in 1920. There was no such medal as the DCIF, so I'm honestly not sure what it is he may have been awarded. -- Necrothesp (talk) 22:50, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've done some research and here he is: [1]. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM), the second highest gallantry medal (after the Victoria Cross) that could be awarded to an NCO. It was gazetted on 18 February 1919 (and was awarded for an action performed on 4 November 1918). -- Necrothesp (talk) 22:55, 28 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
