Hello Earlymen, nice to hear from you. Anything you upload must not be a copyright violation. If it is your own work, it is highly recommended that you open up a new tab or window and go to commons.wikimedia.org and upload it there so that it may be used on all wikimedia projects, including Wikipedia. It is also easier there too in my opinion. Once you're at the site, log in with the same user and password as you do here, click upload on the left side and follow the instructions. --Tommy [message] 13:03, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Mambilla Plateau.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mambilla Plateau.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Farin Ruwa Falls[edit]

Hello Earlyman. Thank you for writing this article, it is informative and well written. Do you have any photos of the waterfall? It would be a nice complement to the article! I've added the WP Nigeria template to the article's talk page, but now I can see that you've (perhaps unintentionally) removed it. All articles related to Nigeria should be listed under this project. I'll restore the template if you don't mind. Btw, the link Talk in your signature directs to the Wiki disambiguation page Talk, not to your talk page. You should fix it, see WP:Signatures. Feel free to let me know if you need any help. Best regards. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 08:31, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Farin Ruwa Falls.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Farin Ruwa Falls.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 11:44, 12 September 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:44, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Nice to hear from you :). Unfortunately I'm not near a computer and it is difficult to check all those links at the moment. It does not, however, look like vandalism, which has its own specific meaning. What I'd do is check the references again, give him a {{welcome}}, and then give him an appropriate l1 warning- such as {{uw-unsourced}}. However, assume he is adding those figures based on another site or source, so feel free to ask him where. Cheers Tommy! 11:50, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox[edit]

Hello Earlymen. I noticed that you develop your articles here on your talk page. Just for your information: You can create a subpage called sandbox: (User:Earlymen/Sandbox) or User:Earlymen/Debundscha for your most recent work. After you finish an article in your user space, you can move it to the main space under its correct name. It might be more comfortable than creating articles on your user talk page. Let me know if you need any help. Regards. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 09:45, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was not a concern, rather an advice to help you with editing :) The article Debundscha is very interesting, another gap is filled in our knowledge of Africa. Just one thing: Be careful with citations, Earlymen: this source is a Wikipedia mirror and it shouldn't be used as a reference. Keep up the good work :) --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 12:39, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for discussion nomination of Category:Rainy places in Africa[edit]

Category:Rainy places in Africa, which you created, has been nominated for deletion, merging, or renaming. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the Categories for discussion page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 21:14, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure why your category of Rainy Places in Africa was deleted. It seems that there are a lot of English-speaking people who don't understand that the English language uses adjectives to indicate characteristics of interest. A rainy place is a place where the level of rainfall is sufficiently high to be considered noteworthy and perhaps even commented on in a Wikipedia article. Seems pretty straightforward to me. If absolutely necessary it could have been modified to "Rainy places (ie with annual/seasonal rainfall >XXX mm) in Africa" in order to offer guidance, but the fact that the raininess of a place is considered worth mentioning in the article seems a perfectly adequate criterion. However there are quite a lot of people at Wikipedia who like deleting things they don't approve of for all sorts of reasons, not all of which appear to have much to do with real life and there's nothing much you can do about it unless you want to waste your life and energy. They're not necessarily deliberately hostile, they're just like that. Just don't be disheartened, learn to live with them, and above all don't let yourself be deterred from adding more interesting information about West Africa.Opbeith (talk) 15:00, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Festivals in Nigeria, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.onlinenigeria.com/links/LinksReadPrint.asp?blurb=552.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Template:Talk header[edit]

Please stop creating talk pages containing only the template {{talk header}}. As I noted above, the template "should not be added to otherwise empty talk pages" or to "[c]alm talk pages", per the template's usage instructions.

Overuse of this template has been contentious in the past and the issue has been discussed many times (six archives of discussion at Template talk:Talk header and four deletion nominations), and the restrictions on use reflect the most recent community consensus reached through discussion.

Copyright problem: Festivals in Nigeria[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Festivals in Nigeria, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://discoverwestafrica.com/CultFest.htm and www.mapsofworld.com/nigeria/culture/christmas-in-nigeria.html and ezinearticles.com/?The-Nigerian-Festival-and-Cultural-Tours&id=2937471 and http://www.worldtravelguide.net/nigeria/sallah, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Festivals in Nigeria saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! VernoWhitney (talk) 17:39, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've noted your message at Verno's talk page. Creating new articles is not so difficult, however, you have to respect some rules of this project. Here on Wikipedia, we cannot use copyrighted text without permission, it could cause serious legal issues, as any text or image could be someone's property similarly as a car or house :) Don't give it up and fix the article (reword it in accordance with the source to create your own text/story). The topic is interesting and your English is good enough for this task. Best regards. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 14:57, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

STOP EDITING the Ghana page...[edit]

You are only 21 years old and know nothing...

I am only 21 years old....yes,wikipedia has no age limit for editors.

Ghana's economy has been recalculated to reflect its true state in January the IMF will post the new data for all countries but, as it is what is posted now is the best reflection of it NOT old data or, articles written with Old data in mind......yes and that is why Ghana must have her GDP PPP information on her infobox as do all countries till 2011,stop blanking pages unless you notice an act of vandalism on the page.I have reverted your disruptive deletion of good faith edits and i will report you to appropriate administrators for your uncivil comments on my talkpage.cheers Earlymen (talk) 02:06,22 December 2010 (UTC)

@Medicineman: Wikipedia articles should reflect the most up to date information available (especially for any economic data). What's wrong with the current information? You claim that the International Monetary Fund will provide new statistics in January (2011 ?). You can change the information after the IMF will publish the new data. There is no basis for removing a well-referenced and up to date material. Another concern of mine: Please, do not address the age or knowledge of other editors in the manner you did on this talk page. This kind of comment is unhelpful in resolving any problems here on Wikipedia. Thanks for your understanding. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 16:45, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With the utmost humility Do you guys understand even basic economics?

The GDP (PPP) is calculated based on the prices in teh country but, if you are using a wrong nominal base the calculation cannot be correct ...

"Relative purchasing power" effectively means relative to all other countries. The idea behind PPP GDP is to express a country's GDP in terms of what it can buy (purchasing power) rather than in nominal terms.

For example, assume Country A and Country B have exactly the same GDP (in US dollar terms); in US dollars, the nominal GDPs are the same. However, if general prices are lower in Country B, then the PPP GDP of Country B is larger than the PPP GDP of Country A because more can be purchased with Country B's GDP.

B/c the Nominal GDP term is wrong everything else is wrong..

Reverting it back till January b/c I refuse to do the calculation when the new data will be released soon....

I hope you understand now that it is not up to date and, does not even make sense as posted...

The Forbes article was also based on old data thus, does not reflect much... Should conclusions made with false data be used??? Absurd!

MedicinemanPretty BoyTalk 15:46, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay Medicineman, this is better. I know a little about calculation of GDP, but our article should contain the most recent verifiable data, removing of such an important statistic makes no sense. Use of rollback[edit]

Hi! Please remember that the rollback function should only be used to revert blatant vandalism. Even though you were completely right in reverting this edit, it was not vandalism, it looks more like the editor just misunderstood the context. Theis101 (talk) 01:15, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Theis. Please, be more careful, and read again Wikipedia:Rollback feature. Thanks. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 09:11, 3 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I started this article today, then noticed that you had created an article on the same topic, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). My first save was at 18:55 and yours was at 19:10, so I got there first - just! I assume that we both confirmed that the article was missing, dug up some initial information, then saved, creating duplicates. I suppose it happens sometimes, but it must be rare. I think the title without the acronym is more "correct" as a name, so will merge from yours to mine (with credit) if you have no objection. Aymatth2 (talk) 21:47, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have done the merge. I think I have kept all the sourced content, but please check that nothing has been dropped accidentally. Aymatth2 (talk) 13:32, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks... I am impressed by the good work you are doing :~) Aymatth2 (talk) 01:26, 24 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, this article got deleted because a "bot" thought it violated copyright on the Online Nigeria article Festivals in Nigeria, and apparently nothing was done to correct the concern for a week. Copyright violation is a form of theft of intellectual property, and by law Wikipedia has to quickly remove any violations that are pointed out. I did not try to get the article restored, even into my userspace, for that reason. But the subject is valid and interesting so I started the article again, drawing on a number of different sources and doing what I could to paraphrase them. It is o.k. to reproduce "mere facts", but not to copy large chunks of text.

There is no deliberate intent to give new editors a hard time. No cabal or conspiracy. But new editors are more likely to have their contributions queried or removed if they break the rules (there are a lot of them!), particularly if they edit with an IP, because there is so much vandalism. I have myself undone edits that may well have been accurate and made in good faith, but that gave information about a living person without quoting any source. Don't get discouraged. Aymatth2 (talk) 20:30, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Got your note ... make sure you try and keep conversations together on one single page :-) There are different types of protection - the type that is on the Trinidad and Tobago page merely prevents a vandal from moving the page to another title. It's still a valid protection type, and the lock that was on the article page simply advised that it was indeed move-protected. Cheers! (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:28, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shere, Nigeria[edit]

Hello, Earlymen. This revert of yours without addressing the problems of the article is almost an act of vandalism. Hospitalitynigeria is an unreliable source per Wikipedia standards and is does not say anything about the namesake of the Shere Hills. Fallingrain has also a bad reputation among geography editors and does not say anything about Shere being the highest elevated village in Nigeria, so please don't remove my maintenance requests again unless you can fix the issues. Thank you. De728631 (talk) 18:24, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, but as Theis101 said above, please don't use rollback for undoing edits that are not harmful. There's still the "undo" button that leaves room for an edit summary. De728631 (talk) 18:32, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Earlymen. I slowly begin to think that I made a mistake by giving you the rollback rights. You can't use it to remove honest, legitimate and good faith edits without proper explanation. Instead of it, you should discuss any problems with others and try to find the best solution for this encyclopedia. I and others have explained here on several occasions that rollback is intended only for removing blatant vandal edits, but you still seem not to understand. Your inappropriate and impolite use of rollback feature brings more confusion and complications to the work of others. Please, don't do that again, otherwise I will be forced to remove the rollback from your account. Thanks for your understanding. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 15:00, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for being too harsh, Earlymen, I know you are honest and good editor. Please, think twice before doing something and always try to find a good foundation (or a source) for all your edits. In Nigeria, the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba languages are not ranked in order of most speakers but are all equally national or recognised languages, in this case it's most appropriate to rank them how the Nigerian government ranks them, which is in alphabetical order. Wikipedia Policies and Guidelines[edit]

Hi, Thanks for your message, but I have undone your edit of the Nigerian page as regards Saintmoses Eromosele. The page should not be about opinion, personal knowledge or sentiment, but plain fact backed by reliable sources. Now, I am not disputing whether or not Saintmoses Eromosele is a writer or poet. What is in issue is whether Saintmoses Eromosele is a Nigerian writer/poet who is "well known internationally" to justify his inclusion in that section of the article on Nigeria? The answer is an emphatic NO. You provided a link to a person/author/writer profile on a site dedicated to Edo State (http://www.edoworld.net/Saintmoses_Eromosele.html) as your source that Saintmoses is qualified to be mentioned in this paragraph, but it is exactly what it is, i.e. an author profile - often provided by the author himself and which does not even constitute a reliable source - and this is no proof of the fact that he is "well known internationally". There are numerous Nigerian writers who are "well known internationally" who have not been added in this section e.g. Chris Abani, Uzodinma Iweala, Chika Unigwe, Teju Cole, Diran Adebayo, Zulu Sofola, Amos Tutuola (the list could go on and on). These are people who have book(s) published internationally and/or stories/poems published in international magazines/journals and have been profiled and/or interviewed on the international scene (Eromosele does not fall into this category at all).

In addition, it seems like you have a personal knowledge of Eromosele as the information which states he is "a poet, playwright and social critic who wrote his first book, a novela, at the age of 16 and while still a secondary school student....", is not referenced by a reliable source in line with Wikipedia's policy and as it stands, also runs foul of the Wikipedia:no original research policy as well as the verifiability policy. Please stop reverting this section to include Eromosele or you will be reported for vandalism and your account may be blocked. Take time to acquaint yourself with Wikipedia's policies on Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:neutral point of view and reliable source. If you feel there is enough reliable material which can be backed by reliable sources for Eromosele, go ahead and create a page for him if you so wish. Thank you. Ayomorocco (talk)

Hi edit request[edit]

I noticed you reverted my edit on egypt's population. The information provided in the infobox is wrong because when you click on the source that is cited (Central Agency for Public Mobilization And Statistics) It shows you a different number than the one in the infobox That is why I edited it. Please do not revert my edits or at least check out the source on the page before reverting my edits. Links removed[edit]

Hi, Why have you removed the links i had referenced or cited from most pages? The site i referenced provides valuable information to users and is a non-profit organization. You have left links from competing sites which are commercially focused but removed ours? Is there something wrong with the way i am adding them? Here is a clear reference for you http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_in_Dubai - you have removed our link but left the link of a competing site that does it solely to increase ad clicks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Empiron (talkcontribs) 06:58, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

re: User talk:Vejvančický[edit]

Hello Netknowle. I think that if you are the uploader, you can simply delete the content and add {{db-author}} at the top of the file. For further information see Wikipedia:Csd#Files. Or you can send me the links and I'll look at it.Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 09:59, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Netknowle, the file 'Mambilla Plateau' was transferred to Commons by another editor. It is being discussed for deletion at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Mambilla Plateau.jpg. Feel free to join the discussion and provide your explanation. Best regards. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 17:24, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey netknowle, Thanks for the links. I'll check them out. I'm also ready for another small editing assignment, if you do that sort of thing. Thanks for your help. All the best, 67.177.43.164 (talk) 20:38, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page archiving[edit]

Hello Netknowle, I use "cut and paste procedure", but you can choose a better solution at Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page. Hope that helps, and you can let me know if not. Cheers :) --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 16:43, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey There![edit]

I am sincerely sorry for getting back to you this late. I have been pretty busy and as such have little time to get on a PC. About my username, well, that's a topic for another time ;). I am surprised at how dexterous you are now with handling Wikipedia. I wish i could possess such intelligence as such. I guess I'll have to learn from you really;if only you will teach me. We gotta talk more and I'll try to reach you soon. Take Care.Olusegun (talk) 15:44, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
