Mumbai Forts[edit]

I now have a copy of Scholberg (1995), Fortress Portugal In India: A photographic history of the Portuguese Forts of India. The Bombay Forts section (to use the old name) covers 11 forts and consists of four pages of text and two pages of photographs. Many of these forts are described by a single paragraph. Bacaim has more than a page; and Chaul and Morro de Chaul have 3/4 and 1/2 a page, respectively of text. On this basis, for most of these forts, I don't think you will have enough source material to make GA status. I've also borrowed a couple of volumes of the New Cambridge History of India. I will help expand some of the articles using Scholberg when I have time. Pyrotec (talk) 11:32, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wish you a very happy and prosperous new year, despite the fact that with each year you are getting older and closer to death, Muhahaha...! (just playin..., its not like I'm escaping the same fate... :) Shiva (Visnu) 20:23, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Happy new Year 2009, Nichalp. History of Mumbai has been successfully promoted to GA status. KensplanetTC 10:19, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Photographer's Barnstar
I hereby award you this barnstar for all your efforts (despite a damaged pen-drive) in uploading these images of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Keep 'em coming!

I wish to put up images in the geography section in the India article because almost every wiki country has an image in geography section except India. I feel strongly that India should show its natural beauty to the world. It will also make the India page look better. I feel strongly that more images is needed to make the article colorful and exciting. Also Ashoka Chakra should be included in the government section because it will provide a symbol of unified India in the past and present. (Dewan S. Ahsan 12:04, 4 January 2009 (UTC))

Hello Nichalp. If you wish to improve the article. Just do it. This is our own Bombay article. Lots and lots of space for Images. Just add it. Thanks, KensplanetTC 14:18, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Take your break. Enjoy !!! KensplanetTC 17:56, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Hi Nichalp, List of districts of West Bengal has got promoted to FL. Thanks for your comments/suggestions in peer review/FLC review.--GDibyendu (talk) 16:03, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Origins of Bombay[edit]

Thanks. I searched the book online and got to know that page 349, here, contains population figures for years 1872, 1881 and 1891. But earlier figures are on page 348 which is not available in "Limited Preview". Sad. I was also able to get figures from 1901 onwards. If you could let me know the figures from year 1661 on page 348, it will complete the series. Thanks ! --GPPande 19:09, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great help! I would shortly start working on this. BTW, what do you think of Kalimpong FAR? Almost 30+ reliable sources have been added to the article since the review begin. --GPPande 08:25, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it is much tougher than Gangtok and Ahmedabad FAR. I personally feel so. I have been searching for references for hours but getting only 1 or 2 at the end of the day. Also article needs copy-editing for sections towards the bottom of the article. Upper sections of the article appear fine, but after seeing lower sections someone might raise objection once the FARC section is opened up. But am not giving it up, still adding refs to article as when I get them. :-) Hopefully, Kalimpong will remain a FA. --GPPande 13:30, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a reminder about outstanding issues at Talk:Gate of Mercy Synagogue/GA1. Cirt (talk) 13:53, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I see, I am sorry about that. Give me a ping on my talk page in the future if you reconsider doing further research on it. Cirt (talk) 15:29, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Using top Indian Wikipedian list[edit]

Hi, I have added a section 'How to use this list for effective collaboration' on User:Tinucherian/Indians WP to see if we can put this list to really good use, pl give your thoughts on the same and we can take it further from there. Thanks. Vjdchauhan (talk) 17:59, 6 January 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Hi Nichalp![edit]

Since you are a senior Wikipedia editor, I just wanted to highlight the recent edits made by User:Lalit Jagannath. Some of his edits raise suspicion about his true motive here. Thanks --67.180.5.41 (talk) 21:49, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nichalp, you seriously need to look into this. Look at his edits to the Economy of India article. --67.180.5.41 (talk) 22:36, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest you file an RFC. Thanks! =Nichalp «Talk»= 15:56, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fort George, Bombay[edit]

Nichalp, I am not interested in nominating any DYK's right now. Please please go ahead with the DYK. I am just creating articles for the History of Mumbai article. You can check my contribs. KensplanetTC 05:41, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even Sion Causeway can make a great DYK. KensplanetTC 08:18, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nichap. I have worked on almost all your comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/List of Governors of Bombay/archive1. I think the List is ready for a FLC now. Do you think it is. Will you co-nominate this List with me? Do you have any more comments. Thanks, KensplanetTC 11:53, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I tried a lot. I can't find any. I'm nominating the article. Even if it fails, the List can always be renominated. Since this would be my first FLC, I don't mind even if it fails. If you wist to co-nominate, please do so. Here's the Page Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Governors of Bombay KensplanetTC 09:32, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want any credit for any work. Our contributions are free. I just want the list to get FL status. Are you sure the post was abolished. If you check [1], it clearly mentions the post was changed. KensplanetTC 06:30, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: '0612'[edit]

You're the first person who's asked that since I joined in Dec. 2005. You know the really weird part is that I can't even remember! It must have been my username on another site which I just reused here (and from then on I used it for pretty much all usernames). I'd be interested to know which site I used it on first, though... RichardΩ612 Ɣ ɸ 18:51, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think this movie should be included under WP:MUM as it has a strong Mumbai connection and a easy GA. 09:16, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm thinking of withdrawing the FLC. A lot of details about Bombay Presidency are missing. KensplanetTC 09:17, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Since they were the Governors of the Bombay Presidency and not Bombay City alone, I have added some details about the Bombay Presidency in the LEAD#Para2. KensplanetTC 11:32, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lalit Jagannath[edit]

Upon your advice, I created Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Lalit Jagannath. Any feedback from you would be deeply appreciated. --Enigma Machine (talk) 04:01, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Over Smart Peoples of Wikipedia[edit]

Hi!! You know why we are not able to expand Mum police and MumFB is due to lack of refrences. With out knowing this fact few people on wikipedia (They are not Indian) says that Articles on Vijay Salaskar, Ashok Kamte, Hemant Karkare are useless articles and should be deleted and says ""the relevant page is WP:NOTMEMORIAL: Wikipedia isn't a memorial site for deceased people. All articles on people who are notable only because they were killed in the Mumbai attacks belong merged into Casualties of the 2008 Mumbai attacks""(This article is not written as a Memorial nor as Homage) read thisSAVE THIS THREE ARTICLES FROM DELETION--Suyogtalk to me! 10:01, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indian Railways FAR[edit]

Have you had a chance to look at Indian Railways? Sadly, the FA status of the article will be removed if you cannot work on it soon. Joelito (talk) 01:15, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Admin[edit]

OK. I've answered the questions. And indicated acceptance. If you think it's good to go, could you transclude it? Thanks. --Regent's Park (Boating Lake) 19:23, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RegentsPark' Rfa[edit]

Are you going to vote in RP's RfA? Typically, a nominator nominates and votes. If you're abstaining for some reason, that's alright, but I think it's kinda weird that you're not voting... flaminglawyer 22:58, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for nominating a gud editor like Regent's Park for RFA -- Tinu Cherian - 04:00, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship[edit]

I am interested, but don't want to go into it right now. I have seen that people ask questions like what will you do when such and such things happen. It will take some more time for me before I can go for it. --GDibyendu (talk) 15:14, 28 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: RegentsPark AfD Experience[edit]

I would typically like to see some sort of somewhat regular activity over a decent period of time leading up to the RfA (i.e. 3-6 months minimum). The candidate doesn't need to work there exclusively, but a few nom and comments here and there would be nice. Cheers, ErikTheBikeMan (talk) 02:19, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RfC at Prem Rawat[edit]

Hi Nichalp, I believe the RfC at Talk:Prem_Rawat#Balyogeshwar_RfC could do with a Hindi speaker. Could you please have a quick look? I am pretty sure I have this right, but I think it'll take a native speaker to convince people. Cheers, Jayen466 00:50, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
