Colour with Rugby navbox templates

I have added a vote at the rugby union community here on the subject that I believe that is at the very heart of the matter. I support one uniform coding for all clubs out there, however for me they should have their club colours, and not in purple. The RWC template does not allow the use of colours to the best of my knowledge. In short I believe that people either want coloured navboxes or do not, that is the crux of the issue here and the one that should be voted on. Many thanks.Londo06 07:25, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Speedy delete of Lucho Azcarraga

Dear Noq, I found an article about Luis (Lucho) Azcarraga, a very famous Panamanian musician, which was extremely short, and I added some contributions. As a result of that the article was deleted. Is there any way to reverse such an absurd decision? GghaGgha (talk) 01:25, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

You actually created the very short article. It provided no context or indication of notability and was subsequently speedy deleted. I would suggest that if you want to recreate the article you do so in a sandbox e.g. User:Ggha/sandbox then move it to the main article space once it has been developed to a stage that can show why it should remain on Wikipedia. noq (talk) 08:21, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Correcting date anomalies

Hi, I was wondering what your source was for George Allen (footballer)'s correct date of birth being 29 January rather than 23 January? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:55, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

I was going to say, Matthews, Tony (1995). Birmingham City: A Complete Record. Derby: Breedon Books. ISBN 978-1-85983-010-9. and Neil Brown's site, and suggest leaving a note with User:WikiGull who created the article, but I see he/she's already changed it to 23 January citing yet more reliable sources. Looks as if it's right now, anyway. Keep up the good work :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:18, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

England rugby captains

Thanks for your message, and nice to see someone doing some really good work on England rugby union. My main written source, a book by John Griffiths, finishes at the 1987 World Cup but I've also got Rothmans rugby yearbooks up to around 1994 and I can see the "captaincy trail" passes from Orwin (3 matches in 1988) straight to Carling - I can't really construct a reference for Winterbottom not being captain but I was happy to make the edit in any case! Keep up the good work!--Bcp67 (talk) 05:19, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually on revisiting my sources, Richard Harding comes as captain between Orwin and Carling. England played a full capped international against Fiji at the end of the 1988 Australia tour and Harding was captain for that game. I'll make the changes later.--Bcp67 (talk) 07:20, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Campion School

I hope I am doing this right! But I do not understand how the "Scandal" section can be allowed to remain! I have been monitoring vandalism on this site for a number of years as students and others will make inappropriate edits. By allowing this current addition it gives them and anyone else the go ahead to vandalise! Especially as the bbc news report has errors. Please advise. Campionschool (talk) 20:52, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Incorrect references

I saw you are fixing incorrect references. Be carefull. Often it is not enough just to add a slash "/" in front of the word "ref", but there was vandalism on that page which is what causes the referror. I've just now reverted a few of them. It's tricky and you have to be alert for signs of vandalism. Debresser (talk) 19:35, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Riki Flutey

Thanks for the reply. Only just figured out how to talk to you on this talk section but will look into the article talk page and transfer this over. The game took place on the 10 September 1977, to mark the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II. It was not part of the 1977 tour but it is listed on the information for the 77 tour on Wikipedia. A picture of the front cover of the programme is available on the www.rugbyrelics.com website.

Having dealt with a lot of journalists when I was the librarian at a Rugby Union Museum, they are very lazy at researching their information. For instance, they all agreed that Tom Richards was the only person to play for the Lions and Australia where as B I Swannell also did the same. The Australian website still make mention of this. I will make reference to the programme but will also see if I can find a reference to the game in one of the newspapers at the time as I still have some contacts at the museum who might be able to help me out with that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LennyBanter (talkcontribs) 16:53, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

In reference to Fluety being the first player to play for and against the Lions, I would love to include a reference from a web page, but due to the fact that I have yet to find one, does not mean it did not happen. I have a copy of the programme from that game in 1977 and the team sheet is the same as the team that played. I would have created my own wiki page with all these players on it, but due to a lack of knowledge on how to do this, I have not been able to do this. If you would like to see a copy of the programme team sheet, please send me your email address and I will send it over.

Speedy deletion declined: Bonanza Express

Hello Noq, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Bonanza Express - a page you tagged - because it was previously speedy deleted, and thus isn't eligible under G4 - that only applies to articles deleted through WP:AFD. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. ~ mazca talk 17:33, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

If you are interested, I have nominated said article for deletion. Discussion can be found here. Best, t'shaélchat 23:27, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Could you explain why you tagged this page for deletion under CSD A1 please? The article is a redirect to another page, which resulted from a page move. - Kingpin13 (talk) 00:54, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Removed speedy from AFM probe

I removed your speedy from this article as context is clearly now there. I also think the original tagging was incorrect as, although I concur that context was somewhat lacking, the A1 criteria states that it "applies only to very short articles" and an article of more than 3,000 bytes is not very short. If you are not already aware of the full criteria at WP:CSD can I suggest you read them as it is my understanding that Twinkle does not list the full criteria and in this case although the article met the basic requirement it did not meet the full criteria. I really don't know but there appears to be an answer on the talk page for the article. Did you mean to ask me or were you going to answer my question to you on your talk page? The article titles with "British Isles and Ireland" are just wrong - it should either be "Britain and Ireland" or "British Isles". Mixing both is like saying Britain and Scotland - The first term includes the second making the second term redundant. noq (talk) 18:16, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

RE: proposed deletion of Dogstar pages for discography. Plea for Help - Journey Museum Page

Noq, I was wondering if I could ask for your help on a page that I have sort of adopted. I have been working on the page for The Journey Museum and Gardens but most of the material out there on the internet is basically advertisements. I believe it is an important page that would be useful to Wikipedia users, but I am not sure how to make it 3rd Person POV. You seem to be better at having an objective eye than I am, so I was wondering if you could help me fix the page. I understand that some the material on it should either be totally deleted or rewritten, but I need help figuring out how to go about it. I am a relatively new Wikipedia Contributor (Only about 50 edits of so) so I could really use some help. If you don't have the time to help, could you point me in the direction of where to look for help? It would be greatly appreciated. Fact-of-the-matter (talk) 20:01, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the suggestion on where to post for help. I posted there and hope to get a response of some sort. I was also wondering if I could ask you to point out the areas on the article that are still written like an advertisement. I did a rewrite on several of the sections to make it more NPOV, but I wanted to get your advice on what else needed to be changed before removing the advert tag is appropriate. If you could go through and pinpoint areas that need work, it would be very helpful. Fact-of-the-matter (talk) 22:54, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Tagging non-English articles

Hi. Two tips about tagging non-English articles:

  • if you know the language, you can put it in the {{notenglish}} template, e.g. {{notenglish|Spanish}}. That produces a more helpful template with a click-to-translate link to Google Translate and a link to the relevant other-language Wikipedia
  • for some languages there are bilingual templates to put on the author's talk page, e.g. {{subst:contrib-es1}} produces:

Por favor, no contribuya con textos en español a la Wikipedia en inglés. En cambio, sus contribuciones a la Wikipedia en español, serán muy bienvenidas.

Please do not contribute text in Spanish to English Wikipedia. Your contributions are more than welcome at Spanish Wikipedia.

There's a list of them at Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English/Templates for user talk pages.

Bovril with milk

Hallo, came upon your edit on Bovril -- as I was researching a novel I wrote which was set in London in the 1930's, I came upon many references to Bovril with milk, served either hot or cold, and often to children. If you are not prepared for that, then back off. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbbutton (talkcontribs) 18:13, 26 July 2009 (UTC) Do not delete Mike Fageros. He is currently in the mainstream of guitar jazz nationwide and deserves to be listed on Wikipedia. He is noteworthy as per wikipedia inasmuch as he is has been recently featured on radio for his improvisational technique, has music available on all the major download websites i.e. apple itunes, rhapsody, napster et al. He is also a jazz educator privately and has made a major contribution to the African American community both in Houston and Detroit by employing sidemen in his groups and musical projects of African American descent.

Although lesser known than some of the mainstream guitarists in jazz, Metheny, Martino, Benson, to delete Mike Fageros would be prejudicial in nature in regards to how record companies and the music industry in general chooses its favorites. Is Fageros prejudiced against by his given name Fageros, which is Norwegian and has been changed from Fageraas? Is it because he has spent a major portion of his life in Texas rather than NY or LA where the heart of the music industry lies?

He has stood the test of time and has helped others along the route, elevating George Benson's ex drummer Marion Booker back into recognition by doing a DVD with him called "The Meeting" Booker had all but faded into obscurity prior to this DVD.

He has also performed with Booker at a historical jazz society in Galveston TX at the Rosenburg Library in 2006 and 2007.

You tagged that article for G3 deletion, but I'm certain that it doesn't qualify for speedy deletion. The subject being referred to in the article is notable (well, I'm no fan of her, but I admit that she is), as she seems to qualify for inclusion here based on notability guidelines. The problem is that since Wikipedia is an openly-editable site, fans who are not necessarily editors swarm here inserting POV and BLP violations in that article, which is why I'm patrolling it. Please let me know if I can provide more sources or whatnot, thanks for the heads up. Pervezt (talk) 19:03, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

That seems to confirm the conflict of interest - it applies not just when writing about yourself but also about people and organisations you are involved with. I'm not trying to SPAM in any way, I apologize if I've biased the article in any way and compromised the article itself. That was not my intention. Was just trying to add a band that is notable to myself and many others. I saw other articles noting the band, and wanted to add what information I have about them from articles online and offline that I've read. Hoping this is further clarification, thank you again for your time. Pervezt (talk) 19:26, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Yakitychat

No one uses the bayeaux protocol and it is mentioned in wikipedia.

I thought a wiki was so we could build it up over time. I realise there are problems with people adding rubbish to this site but to get this much resistance from you and others is telling. Relax a little, it is a new product designed for use as BSD - it is a newly designed protocol and in the face of corporate giants will hardly get anywhere if I can't even start a reference to it here.

Will reformulate as I now realise there is a lot more to this software / protocol than meets wikipedia 'eyes'.

Here we are at the heart of the problem. Wikipedia does not exist to promote things. This is WP:SPAM. Articles need to establish notability through third party reliable sources. You appear to have got this the wrong way round and are trying to use Wikipedia to promote this software. noq (talk) 14:45, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

lol Sorry about the page I create. I accidentaly saved it with nothin' on it. Ok. I'm doing it again now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by DanielPright (talkcontribs) 19:30, 30 October 2009 (UTC) Oh, well clearly you have no time for new protocols. You are all but relegating wiki to a yesteryear print product.

Clearly you are a self appointed expert on notable additions, particularly when using a google ranking to judge an article worthiness.

If you actually proposed that this entry was not notable due to it being a patent infringement or similar then perhaps fair enough.

Although, I see you are holding on dearly to the wikipedia non-promotion idea, ok. This new chat protocol and related 'usable' demonstration is a clear shift in the way of doing 'chat'... ie. routing binary data. You are not able to provide references that make you qualified to judge this revolution in the industry. Do I need a corporate sponsor? Who is yours?

I suggest you change your approach to judging others' additions and take a closer look, how about downloading and reading the protocol before saying it is not notable based on a silly google search... A more progressive approach will be appreciated, rather than a little 'lol'. Pathetic.

All I do is review new pages and flag those that I believe not to meet Wikipedia's guidelines for review by someone else. Complaining that I and others that do new page patrol should not do that and just let any article be created would just allow Wikipedia to collapse into a sea of meaningless drivel. I did not just use google - but it is a useful resource to establish notability and in this case did not come up with anything useful. I also looked at the external link you provided to the website. This has very little detail and is showing the software as at version 0.1 and only just released. The article requires references from 3rd party reliable sources. I note the yakitychat.com domain is registered to Webhaven who you have previously created an article that has been deleted. Do you have any connection with them? Have you read WP:COI? Hi, I created the page on Snowcovered, and have been working on the content while it was marked for speedy deletion. While the content so far is sparse, the article is important and I hope doesn't get deleted. I'm working on the content for it, and the reason that it exists is because it's part of the series of articles I am writing on .NET content management systems. The content I am still adding is about entrepreneurship and growth of small developers who gain access to the market through marketplaces like Snowcovered. Can you please remove the speedy deletion and I would continue working on the article? Thank you! Hi, I have made additions to the article, and I'm now working on linking through to it from entrepreneurship series pages. Can you please remove the Deletion tag? Thanks! Also I'm not sure who said that they are going to lodge a complaint, but I would be happy to answer any questions about the content I am working on. I'm very clear to provide neutral, encyclopedic content on the articles I create and edit. Audiohifi (talk) 20:55, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Smondo

Noq, I removed the speedy deletion tag on Smondo. Although, it is currently confined to only one development, the concept will hopefully catch on with other developments. The wiki article has been created to allow consumers to understand the term and to educate them against misuse. The Indian real-estate industry is generally perceived to be one of bad repute, and it's important to help consumers make better choices. People will be adding specific details on the concept shortly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbazg1 (talkcontribs) 04:43, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

re: Kelly Brook

Using this template rather than simply inserting the date into articles allows for the inclusion of hidden metadata about the date. This metadata can be used by web browsers and other software tools to extract the details, and display them using some other website or mapping tool, index or search them. Driehaus Prize

Hi! You have proposed the deletion of the stub I started about the Driehaus Prize. It is a stub, of course, and I started it by splitting the contents in Richard Dreihaus. I thought that the prize itself deserved its own article and my intention is to complete it with other sources asap. I just didn´t do that immediately. I hope that I have some days of margin to make those improvements. Yours faithfully, --Garcilaso (talk) 13:10, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

My recent edit to Boris Johnson

Thanks for putting it right. Looks like I did the same thing here. Not sure what went wrong as I only wanted to link the name of the documentary, but I've fixed this one now. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 14:15, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

I know what happened now. I copied the text into Word as I sometimes find it easier to find and replace or link text that way (particularly with lengthy articles), and for some reason it had reconfigured itself not to recognise non-English characters. Anyway, it's all sorted out now. Thanks again. TheRetroGuy (talk) 14:45, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Hello Noq, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Richard H. Driehaus Prize for Classical Architecture has been removed. It was removed by Garcilaso with the following edit summary 'This is just a first stub. Improving the article soon.'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Garcilaso before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. 1995 Rugby World Cup

Hi, I noticed you reverted my edits on 1995 Rugby World Cup. I restored the version I was working on, since most of it was fairly straightforward expansion, but in what ways do you think it needs more balance? I would be happy to edit it if you think South Africa's role is being overplayed, or there isn't enough space being devoted to the All Blacks and other teams involved, if that's the problem. Speedy delete for software

Hi there! I'm learning about being a new page patroller. I noticed that you tagged FastFractal256. I can't find info on how to handle software products. Can you advise me? Thanks. --Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:24, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

That article was tagged with a {{prod}} as there are no speedy delete criteria specifically for software. There are various tools that can help you to tag articles such as WP:TWINKLE, WP:POPUPS or WP:FRIENDLY. You can use these by selecting them in your preferences. noq (talk) 09:28, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
I see. Thanks. I will check those out. But can you tell me how you decide if a software article should stay or go? How did you decide for this particular article. Thanks. --Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:33, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
First check out the references given if any to see if they are reliable sources. You are looking for something that established notability. If that does not help, use google to see if you can find anything that could be used to establish notability. In this case, the references were to the software web site except for one which was not about the software in particular. Google came up with a few links but nothing notable. noq (talk) 09:38, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
I see. Thanks. Very helpful.--Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:40, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Murray and Roberts

Why did you nominate it for deletion? Daniel Christensen (talk) 17:28, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

At the time it was nominated it did not appear to meet the criteria at WP:ORG. Note that being a publicly quoted company is not sufficient on its own to create notability. The list of buildings they have been involved in does not indicate in what capacity - as far as the article is concerned it could be anything from being a main contractor to carting away building waste. A reviewing editor removed the tag and I have since found out more about the company. I think it qualifies as notable but needs more references to show notability and to identify its role in the construction of the listed buildings. An indication of the scope of activities undertaken by the company ought to be there as well. noq (talk) 17:40, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
You have found more? You have not added anything to the article. Why are all editors like that? All they do is tag and nominate they never add or construct Daniel Christensen (talk) 17:46, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
I found out more by looking at the company website - not a candidate for a reference to establish notability. It is not a subject that I am interested in but was an article I came across while doing new page patrolling. Articles that are in subject areas I am interested in I will spend more time to add references and improve them where I can, but I do not know enough about other areas to do more than basic checking. Tagging articles for deletion will trigger someone else to review the articles and they will only be deleted if a reviewing administrator agrees with the reasons. noq (talk) 17:55, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Inmote page

Hi,

I disagree with you marking the Inmote page as just advertising a company. Inmote has played a significant role in Symbian training worldwide. You can check with representative of the Symbian Foundation. Inmote is one of eleven recognized Symbian training centers worldwide. So I do not see why people that wonder what/who Inmote is, can not search on Wikipedia to find out a small company info page here.

I find marking a page as inappropriate without any message to the user intrusive and not polite. We have a lot of Telecom knowledge. This is not a very inviting start to write more on Wikipedia.

Castrogiovanni

Noq:

Hello, good to meet you. Thanks for noticing Hubschrauber729's mistaked deletion of the Martin Castrogiovanni bio's referenced and patently obvious category ("Argentines of Italian descent"). Let me assuure you, having wasted a week of my Wikipedia time reverting the hundreds of such deletions (which he speed-edits), that this individual is not acting on good faith. If the fact that he's doing this to hundreds of articles with no proof, and no consensus, weren't enough, you should check out the talk page, where he's done this to others.

He always cites "unsupported category" as the pretext, but started an edit war on Michael Klukowski insisting ad nauseum that the subject is Austrian, with no citations at all, and no consensus (he was ultimately overriden).

Strictly speaking, alomst no bio on Wikipedia or anywhere else can "prove" ethnicity, it's a moot point. Most of the tens of thousands of bios on this service contain an ethnicity category link, however, because it's useful and its helps find similar subjects. No one had ever disputed the cats on the affected articles, nor does hubschrauber – it's disruption for its own sake).

If I'm wrong, he should ask for consensus before deleting common sense categories (most of which have stood for years). Otherwise, I wish someone would block him or ban him, outright, as hours have been wasted on this.

Thank you for your time.

Speedy deletion of Cantor (software)

Hello Noq . Cantor (Software) is about a open-source GUI frontend software for 4 open-source Computer algebra system langueage acting as backends. This is a new software in KDE 4.4 which is a cross platform .Even though it is a new software , it is supposed to gain popularity . I think deletion of it is like the deletion the happened to Okular when article and software were first made . Now Okular is the defacto Document viewer on KDE4 , and most feature-rich document viewer on Linux.

Can you tell me please why was Cantor (Software) marked for speedy deletion ? Melnakeeb (talk) 10:52, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Because it does not currently meet the notability criteria. The article only contained an infobox and no indication of notability. For the article to remain it needs more indication of what it is about, why it is WP:Notable, and have WP:Verifiable WP:Reliable sources. If it meets these criteria in the future it can be recreated, but at the moment there is no reason for an article to exist. noq (talk) 10:55, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

For a while I have been trying to welcome new wikipedians who seem to show promise, and unfortunately it appears our paths crossed when you speedy deleted an article created by one of those individuals User talk:Melnakeeb. I tried to see the article which you speedily deleted on Feb 14, but I cannot find any trace of it. I wonder if you could tell me what the issues were and where I can see for myself the article which was speedily deleted.

Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 01:11, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I only nominate articles for speedy deletion - an administrator is needed to do he actual deleting if they agree with the nomination. The particular user you highlighted above created an article without showing why it should be there. The article is currently available in the google cache As you can see it consisted only of an infobox with no indication of what it actually did. noq (talk) 07:28, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
I am glad to see that the article which was so speedily "speedily deleted" is back. I realize some articles have to go, just want to say that sometimes the speed in which things are done actually detract from Wikipedia. This is not the first time I have noticed a potentially good article written by a newbie Wikipedian being hastily removed, without much thought to the effect it has on someone who may become a valuable Wiki-contributor. I hope more people are sensitized to this issue and will monitor such removals more closely. Ottawahitech (talk) 12:24, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi, please can you tell me why you want to delete Verve Productions, I looked in the category, Television production companies in the UK, and it wasn't there, so I added this page to make the list more accurate. For if this category claims to list television production companies in the UK, surely for accuracy, Wikipedia needs as many of those companies listed as possible, otherwise the list is not complete?

There was a second related AfD - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anheuser-Busch InBev (2nd nomination), in which the result was to merge Anheuser-Busch InBev into Proposed merger of Anheuser-Busch and InBev. When the company merge did take place, the article was renamed Anheuser-Busch and InBev (which later got merged to Anheuser–Busch InBev), but then another editor recreated the article: [2]. it has not been nominated for speedy deletion but as an article for deletion which is different. The reasons for the nomination have been given at that page - specifically you have not shown WHY it is notable - just because it exists is not sufficient reason for it to have a page on Wikipedia. You need to show Notability with WP:reliable sources. This has not been shown and was why it was initially marked as prod. I would also recommend you read the conflict of interest guidelines. noq (talk) 01:06, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to be a bother to you once more, but could you be a bit more specific? I've read over the guidelines multiple times, and still cannot find what I did wrong. I had correct grammar, the page was unbiased and neutral, I stated in it why it was notable, the source did not conflict with guidelines, and I don't see how it conflicts with the Wikipedia's conflict of interest. IT (Cdocrun) (talk) 03:38, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
The reference appears to be a fan site - not regarded as a reliable source - and orgmaker is not mentioned on the linked page . There appears to be no claim to being notable in the article. noq (talk) 07:56, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion

You can not go about deleting articles that may be new an there for not finished yet. You did this with Stocksfield Central. I was working on the article, as I think it is important to praise local buisnesses for their hard work and friendly ness. If possible, can you put the article back on so I can finish it and state why I wrote it.

Sco1996 14:23, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Firstly, I did not - indeed cannot - delete the article. I flagged it up for review by an administrator as it did not meet the inclusion criteria for Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a place to "praise local businesses". Articles need to show WP:notability with WP:verifiable WP:reliable sources. If you still think the article should be restored, then read Wikipedia:Why was my page deleted? which explains how to find out who actually deleted the article so you can ask on their talk page for a restoration. noq (talk) 09:36, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
It is not about just praising buisnesses, it is about helping people. If you write an article about a buisness, then it can help them to choose which buisness they should use. Sco1996 10:02, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

MooseFS article

Hello,

I will remove the PROD from Moose_File_System article. Let me explain why.

1) Yes, the article was PRODed once before. That's, because it was incomplete, I was new to Wikipedia and did not know how to write a proper article. Once I learned about the sandbox I have created a new article within it and left the old one die. The new one has been released out of the sandbox when ready.

2) Sourceforge may not show lots of downloads. Sourceforge page is not the primary download area. Stable releases are downloadable from project official web site.

3) I wonder what makes you think it is an unremarkable project. At the moment there is very few open-source distributed file systems suitable for commercial datacenter workloads. GlusterFS is one. Ceph is great, but not production ready just yet. Lustre does not count, because it lacks some features considered mandatory for datacenter. The same goes for PVFS and Hadoop. There are some others, but they are mostly not worth mentioning - they are either incomplete or in a different category. Im not involved in propagation or development of MooseFS, I am just a user. And I think that MooseFS is currently the most advanced file system in that class - along with GlusterFS.

You are right, that the article is missing some neccesary elements, notably the references section needs expanding. I'll do that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ales-76 (talkcontribs) 08:52, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

what colour should be used for playoffs, no Heineken Cup?

Yellow? Is that OK or is there soem standard somewhere? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sir Francis Drake (not really!) (talkcontribs) 17:13, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Interesting question - has it happened? I can't recall coming across it - it might never have been needed before. You might like to ask the question at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Rugby union to see if anyone else has thought about it. noq (talk) 17:28, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Oops just realised when it happened - early playoffs had more teams. As those articles had not been created before I had not come across it. There might be conventions used in the rugby league tables but I have not looked into it. The project talk page is probably a good place to ask as some on there also frequent the league project. noq (talk) 17:39, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

HI There ... I think the article about Isla Bank should not be deleted because I have not yet finished creating the artcile.. And I have contacted the employees on this bank to help me further improve the article and because they have more better facts about the bank..I hope you would consider my appeal I hope you would remove this article from nomination .. And by the way, try looking at the other bank's articles .. Maven 1989 (talk) 14:33, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

If you think that given time you can show WP:notability (the relevant guidelines are at WP:COMP) then you may be better to WP:userfy the article while you work on it. This involves moving the article to somewhere like User:Maven 1989/ISLA Bank so that you can work on it without it being deleted. The main space article would be deleted and can be re-created by moving from User:Maven 1989/ISLA Bank to ISLA Bank when it is ready. noq (talk) 14:50, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Important!!! -- Please pay attention

Someone may wish to delete this message from your talk page. I think you are grown up enough to deal with it yourself. So if it disappears, please go through the history and have a look. Let's stick to the facts here, and not get too emotionally involved:

These completely negative actions need to be reversed.

I also have the Courage League Division Two tables for these dates, and would like to add these to Wikipedia. Unfortunately I don't want to do so because such tables take time to write and such writing is clearly not appreciated by some people who ought to know better.

If I am caught talking to you, some people may well block me on sight, so I may be unable to reply.

If you could help reverse these actions, I would be most grateful. NRSFD (talk) 10:53, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your perfectly civil request [4]. I note however our lumberjack friend failed to even consider reversing his actions [5]. We will have to find another way to reverse his blatant vandalism.
Now that you've talked to him he may now be watching your talk page. In which case I'll make it easy for him - here is the block button: special:block/Captain of the Golden Hind. I wonder which excuse he'll choose this time. And then tomorrow, I will need to be reborn again with a different username in order to communicate. But I never, ever give up. See ya. Captain of the Golden Hind (talk) 22:37, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Maybe he's not watching... Anyways, I found the league tables can be found in the French Wikipedia starting with fr:Championnat d'Angleterre de rugby à XV 1987-1988. The colours are all a bit funny though. Personally I think it's a complete disgrace that the Francophones have these articles but the Anglophones have had them vandalised by one of their own administrators!!! But please don't create those as I'm still campaigning to have my entirely legitimate pages unvandalised. I think I'm making progress -- I'll keep you informed of how I get on. Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. -- œ 04:16, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: TESDA Programming NC IV in Nueva Ecija

Hello Noq. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of TESDA Programming NC IV in Nueva Ecija, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to schools. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 20:45, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Since WP:CSD#A7 explicitly excludes schools, I prefer to err on the side of caution. You're right; any organization that can be described as a "training institute" can escape speedy deletion this way. Please Noq, stop this. You are the only one giving me such a hard time. I am asking you from the bottom of my heart to please stop spoiling my work while I find EVERYTHING you are requesting. Stop. Please. I want this to work as much as you do. PeterRoyce (talk) 19:24, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Please do not take this personally but you need to read the guidelines about WP:notability. Specifically, WP:BK indicates the level of notability a book requires to have its own article. Claiming that the author automatically makes it notable does not work except in exceptional circumstances and I do not think they apply here. The picture for the Masiela Lusha article that you claim to have created was produced by a printer/scanner and looks like it was scanned from somewhere else. Please read WP:Copyright about why we cannot keep such images. I hope you continue to edit Wikipedia and enjoy doing so as I do but please read the guidelines and if an article is tagged as having a problem do not just remove the tag but address the issue first. noq (talk) 19:45, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

For resources supporting facts, I am currently combing the internet for the articles I had read. Some were talk shows, tv shows, tv interviews etc in which she was talking about her childhood and others were actual print articles. Harder than it appears to be to actually track down every print with her name on it. But am working on it. As for the photo the other photos I cannot take credit for. I was uploading as a test to see how it came out with different sizes, and did not know how to return to the page holding all the photos but the only two photos I DID create are the 'on set' and the 'headshot.' Yes, good eye. the headshot is a scan. The 'set' one was taken on the set of her film Kill Katie Malone in Glendale, California. She was waiting between takes, and the other I took a few years ago in 2007 when she first dyed her hair blonde. Everything else, you may remove if it infringes copyright issues. But I hope I cleared up the issue for you.

As for books. I do not believe weighing the level of notability applies here. As a celebrity, who ever that person marries, gives birth to, creates, dates, writes, publishes is considered notable... inherently so. Otherwise, thousands of articles on wiki should not even exist. To weigh a book as to whether it is relevant should only apply if the writer is just as new as the book, and the book carries the writer's worth and therefore should be weighed in relevance. But when the writer is a celebrity, whatever that celebrity creates for the public, (movie, books, children, dates) are relevant. I can give you an entire list of people, books, and children who shouldn't even be up there if it weren't for the notability of someone else. Please consider this. Thank you. PeterRoyce (talk) 23:54, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

—Preceding unsigned comment added by PeterRoyce (talkcontribs) 23:48, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

I am sorry but I cannot find a policy document that gives automatic notability to anything a "celebrity" does. Please can you provide a link that to a document that states that "celebrity" overrides notability criteria? Which part of WP:BK states that celebrities have a free ride to notability? Again I would refer you to WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS becaue that is your only argument noq (talk) 00:22, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Why did you remove my own photos? Look at the photos I am about to upload so you can see for yourself. These photos I am about to upload have NEVER been released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PeterRoyce (talkcontribs) 01:42, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

I uploaded about 7 or so from that shoot. I can upload all 544 photos if it finally proves to you that I am the photographer. And guess what? You won't find any of those photos anywhere on the internet because I never released them to the public until now. Just ask, and I will upload all the photos I took that day. Please, now leave me alone already. PeterRoyce (talk) 01:54, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Sterling work

Hi Noq. Firstly, I'd like to thank you for your splendid efforts - reviewing others' edits and reverting those that need it.

Secondly, I'd like to suggest a small change in your method. You know in your reversions, you take off the user's talk page link? It may be better to leave these on (ES can be <200), as then others can see if the user's talk is red (welcome &/or poss. warning needed) or blue. What do you think?

Thirdly, seeing as you do such a good job at reverting, I wondered if you'd ever warned errant users? Or had you thought about doing so? I find it very easy - I use wp:Twinkle & it's so easy. I could help you if you had trouble with it.

Anyway, sir, do keep up your good work. Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 07:37, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

I have been using Twinkle for the past year. If the talk page is not there it is because twinkle is not including it. If you check the end of the edit summaries, you will see the (TW) that denotes a twinkle reversion. I often do warn users, although not for every edit when reverting several edits by an editor and not always for IP editors - a lot of them are dynamic addresses and the warnings serve little point unless made reasonable soon after the errant edit. noq (talk) 12:51, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Oh yes - silly me - I hadn't realised that Twinkle did that, nor that you'd been using it! Trafford09 (talk) 15:21, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Footnote: some good came out of my mistake. Twinkle's now been changed, to henceforth add the (talk) or (talk) after the reverted user's a/c name. (You may need to Wikipedia:Bypass your cache to see the effect on future reverts.) Trafford09 (talk) 10:51, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Wellington

Dear Noq, You dropped me a message saying "I notice that you removed topically-relevant content". Please define topically relevant? The event concerned reflects badly on a number of people, including the 2 pupils concerned. I agree I don't like censorship. However is is 'topical'? This was eight years ago and before the span of any current pupil - and under a previous HM who left not long thereafter [2005]. True I didn't explain why I removed the paragraph. I did so because it's history, and not topical and not representative of what the school is now and how it works. You mentioned in the page history the edit was unexplained, please point me at the ettiquette regarding what needs to be explained and what doesn;t :-) I'll get it right in future. I also added references to what has been going on at Wellington more recently - and the press has been relentless and largely positive thanks to what Anthony Seldon had been doing. That needs to be mentioned as it provided a much fairer reflection on what has happened more recently. Or can we publish only bad news? Now to the pupils concerned. Both are known Rugby players with a Wikipedia presence. The London Standard article is still online and mentions Paul Doran-Jones and James Haskell. I'm not attempting to take that down. This page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Doran-Jones mentions the incident. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Haskell makes no reference and I think that's significant. He's much more illustrious. Now, you're into Rugby yourself I think, you're probably in a fair position to judge what would happen were we to redress the balance by editing James' page. 'publish and be damned' ? Derekgrainge (talk) 18:05, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Topicality was not an issue. You removed sourced content without explaining why. You also have a WP:conflict of interest as stated on your user page. The other stuff that was reverted at the same time was not relevant to press comment and was unsourced. noq (talk) 19:46, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

GMOs

I have no idea why this appears this way with quotes in inappropriate places. Sorry, I can't correct it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.215.139.114 (talk) 19:51, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello. I recently deleted a few lines of text concerning GMOs in the Organic Farming page and you reverted my edit adding that no reason had been given by me for the deletion. I won't delete it again, because I think it's pointless and people will just revert the old page, but I do wanna give you a reason. In my opinion the section was/is horribly biased.

"A key characteristic of organic farming is the rejection of genetically engineered plants and animals. On October 19, 1998, participants at IFOAM's 12th Scientific Conference issued the Mar del Plata Declaration, where more than 600 delegates from over 60 countries voted unanimously to exclude the use of genetically modified organisms in food production and agriculture.

, particularly in the developing world.[21] Similarly, some organic farmers question the rationale behind the ban on the use of genetically engineered seed because they see it a biological technology consistent with organic principles.[22]

Although GMOs are excluded from organic farming, there is concern that the pollen from genetically modified crops is increasingly penetrating organic and heirloom seed stocks, making it difficult, if not impossible, to keep these genomes from entering the organic food supply. International trade restrictions limit the availability GMOs to certain countries.[citation needed]

The dangers that genetic modification could pose to the environment and/or individual health are hotly contested.[23] "

A little backstory. Firstly a GMO is a genetically modified organism. There's a strong backlash against these from people from all walks of life due to numerous and diverse studies pointing out all sorts of adverse effects from GMOs. The very cause for some people to turn to organic farming is to avoid GMOs that are seen as the antithesis of organic food. Monsanto (a company producing GMOs, leader in this area)is seen as the ultimate evil for its policies.

Now the entire article for organic farming has only only little section concerning the opinion of these people about GMOs. Even though hundreds of books have been written and a great deal of studies have been made, this section fails to mention anything bad one may think about such food. Instead it makes it seem as if part of the organisation dealing with o farming is reasonably advocating for GMOs. So nothing bad about them but there are good things. How far from the truth and pathetic!

The exact words themselves are evem more ridiculous. "Although opposition to the use of any transgenic technologies in organic farming is strong, agricultural researchers Luis Herrera-Estrella and Ariel Alvarez-Morales continue to advocate integration of transgenic technologies into organic farming as the optimal means to sustainable agriculture"

So most of the GMOs under the caring hand of Monsanto, have been infused with foreign DNA in order to create terminator seeds (which means that when the plants develop and bloom they will produce infertile seeds) , have gotten DNA from other species in order to produce their own herbicides (that are somewhat toxic to human and have lead to the creation of "superweeds" which are even harder to fight) and have been linked to the suicides of some 200 000 Indian farmers because they couldn't pay their debts to Monsanto for having to deal with farming Monsanto's way( buying new seeds every year, using a plethora of expensive pesticides, herbicides, "fertilizers" and anything to replace that to which they're pests and weeds have grown resistant to) and THAT is called "sustainable agriculture" by those those 2 bonkers?! I have no idea why any honest editor of that page would decide that the opinion of those two representatives of the 7 billion human race are more important that what most organic farmers think themselves on the page concerning what they do.

" Similarly, some organic farmers question the rationale behind the ban on the use of genetically engineered seed because they see it a biological technology consistent with organic principles.[22]"

Almost all organic farmers are against GMOs for good reasons! That sentence leaves you with a totally different view. If you change the statement to " Similarly, some PEOPLE question the rationale behind the ERADICATION OF THE NAZI REGIME because they see it a A FORM OF GOVERNMENT consistent with UTOPIAN principles.[22]" you would receive a new stament no less true than the first one. But is that really reflecting on reality?

According to studies GMOs cause a 30% sterility in rat population feed on a GMO diet. They contaminate natural organism leading to companies sueing farmers just because their fields are next to GMO ones and the latter has contaminated the real ones, just so the companies can cause them to switch to GMO plants. Monsanto sues people on the ground that they talk negatively about GMOs on tv. There are so many negative things about GMOs that it is impossible to list them all.

That's why I removed those lines. I couldn't just edit them because they were fundamentally wrong. I can't hope to change that page for Wikipedia has for long been supporting corporations (like everything else)and people (or is it payed employees?) will just revert the old page. I can only hope this changes your opinion, ,making my answer worth its while. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.215.139.114 (talk) 19:38, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

The sections you removed were referenced and you did not explain in your edit summary why you deleted them. Having read your explanation above I still believe the edits should remain showing conflicting views. Your points above make several claims but provide no sources to verify them and the language used does not adhere to a neutral point of view. If you can back up the claims with WP:reliable sources then they can be added to the article - but you will need to phrase most of it in a more neutral tone. noq (talk) 01:25, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Alan Wilson (composer)

I think our changes to the Alan Wilson (composer) page must have 'crossed in the post'! I was saving my current edit, only to find that you had already submitted an edit. Please would you have a look at what I have added, and let me know if you still stand by your recommendation for deleting the page after all. Thanks in advance. TheAMmollusc (talk) 13:04, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

As it stands, I still think it does not establish WP:notability. You need to find independent WP:reliable sources to establish notability. Specific notability guidelines for composers can be found here. noq (talk) 13:09, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
I've added some external references. I'm afraid it's had to be thrown together quickly, in view of the 7-day time-limit. Obviously, this page will need significant improvement. However, in the meantime, have I done enough to lift the execution order, and to be granted the time to be able to work on this page into the future. Thanks in advance for any more help and advice that you are able to offer. TheAMmollusc (talk) 09:27, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
I still think it is not ready yet. I would suggest that the best way forward is to WP:userfy it - move it to a page such as User:TheAMollusc/Alan Wilson (composer) to allow you to work on it without fear of it being deleted. It is currently missing anything to suggest that it meets WP:COMPOSER and it will need to do that in order to remain. You are free to remove the {{prod}} template from the article itself, however in its current state it is likely to be proposed for a more formal WP:articles for deletion review. Looking at the references you have added I am not sure what they refer to - are they a list of his works? That in itself would not meet WP:COMPOSER - are there references you can find about him rather than a list of works? noq (talk) 10:50, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

The Verbal Surgeon

If you google search "The Verbal Surgeon Hip Hop" dozens of sites will come up with content on the artist. If you look around certain sites you will see his independent fan base is growing throughout the US. Also if you reset your search filter on google images to normal instead of filtering for "images for reuse" you'll find there is small coverage on the artist. I searched numerous independent artists on google images with your filter settings and nothing came up. Without filtering anything on google images, things seem to work as they should. Displeased Records

The Displeased Records page is subject to be deleted. The page exists for over 10 years and I wonder why it has to be removed suddenly. I could understand that the layout was not really up-to-date, so I copy/pasted a similar record label's wikipage and adjusted it with more constructive info about our record label. So it now looks similar to other wikipages. After severe editing and updating I removed the 'to be deleted' banner, otherwise it would be deleted anyway and my editing work would be in vain. Now a different to be deleted banner is added again.

What can I do to keep the page on wiki?

Displeasedron (talk) 16:23, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

It has been nominated now because it has been noticed now. The reason for nominating it is because I can find no indication of meeting the notability guidelines here. The article needs independent WP:reliable sources that show how it is notable - just existing is not enough. Also be aware of the guidelines here regarding editing articles you have a conflict of interest over. Your username makes it clear that this probably applies. noq (talk) 18:09, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

I am the owner of the company. Because I am, I have all the right data and sources for publishing correct info on the wikipage. I should think that was a plus. The Displeased Records page was created by someone I don't know with quite some errors in it, so I started correcting those and kept an eye out for possible errors on the page. There has never been (AFAIK) an article in papers like the NY post or any university paper. But I think that's the same for all other metal labels on wikipedia.

I still cannot understand why the Displeased Records page should be deleted. I use Wikipedia very often for finding record labels and info about record labels. For me it's very useful and I can imagine for other users also. If the page was offensive in any way or something else illegal I can understand a deletion, but just because it was not published in some newspaper I think that is really strange. There are 100s of pages about my record label on the web, so why not in the most obvious place people search for such info as Wikipedia?

The Displeased Records page is written completely objective, no words like best, fastest, most reliable have been used. It's not at all a promotion page, it's an informative page about the record label, it's band roster, releases and history.

Displeasedron (talk) 14:51, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia policies state that articles need to establish WP:notability - there are specific guidelines for what constitutes notability for compaines here. In order to establish notaability, significant coverage in independent WP:reliable sources is needed - the only reference on the article is a directory entry which is not considered significant coverage. My google searches did not find significant coverage about the company. noq (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Mabo Day

Noq, you appear to have deleted Mabo Day without community discussion, shortly after it was created, and also shortly after the deletion request was declined by another editor, who pointed out that Mabo Day does indeed exist (as a simple Google search can establish). Given the significance of the Mabo case in Australian history, I would like the Mabo Day article to be reinstated. The content I put in there was largely taken from existing articles, but that can be edited in time (according the usual wiki processes). I was merely establishing the article. Simon Kidd (talk) 12:43, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

The article has not been deleted - it has been redirected to the article that already contained all but one sentence. That sentence has been added to the Eddie Mabo page and a reference added. I fyou remove the information copied directly from the Eddie Mabo article nothing but a single sentence exists. Nothing has been lost and there does not appear to be sufficient information for a standalone article. If there i smore, expand the sentence in the Mabo article until there is sufficient for an article. noq (talk) 12:52, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
As I said, I was merely establishing the article, as people do when they create a stub, for instance. There was no need to delete it so quickly, before anyone, myself included, had a chance to improve it. To do this in a wiki-based (i.e. collaborative) encyclopedia is ridiculous. Please reinstate the article so that I can edit it. Otherwise I will have to take the formal route. Simon Kidd (talk) 12:59, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
I have not - and cannot deleted it. It has been redirected to the article you copied most of the content from. You can undo that change if you believe it the right thing to do but I would then take it to a formal deletion discussion - see the top of the page under the title where it says redirected from and click on the linked article. As it is, the main article is all that is needed. noq (talk) 13:04, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I've removed the redirection. I will continue to edit it in due course, but I have other things to do right now. I don't think there was any need for you to make such a hasty decision. There is nothing earth shattering depending on this! Simon Kidd (talk) 13:30, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

M. Daniel Henry

St. Leo College never had a vice president Daniel M. Henry, but did have a President M. Daniel Henry from 85 to 87 who prior to that was a vice president for administration at Dayton College — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.30.62.198 (talk) 16:31, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

The article has a reference that calls him Daniel M. Henry. There is no currently active reference to St. Leo College. The article itself does not establish that he is WP:notable anyway. noq (talk) 16:45, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

I have responded to certain administrators/editors but none of them came forward to either delete their remarks or at the very least respond to the queries I have raised. The relevant URLs are pasted here for your review and consideration. Sorry if this is not the standard way, I'm still learning Wiki:

  • 1. Why is the neutrality of the above link disputed?
  • 2. The article has been sourced, so would you please remove the “original research” mark put on it.
Ask the editors that put those tags there.

[C] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serer_people

  • 1. Sources have been cited for the above url in relation to “Notable Serers”, so would you please remove the “does not cite references or sources” remark.
No sources are supplied that identify the people specified as notable. There is no obvious connection from the references listed in the reference section to what they are supposed to reference.
  • 2. Someone or something has redirected a Spanish writer called "Rafael Calvo Serer" on to the Serer people top page. There is no relation between the Spanish writer and the Serer people apart from the spelling. The pronouciation is also different and there is no relationship whatsoever. It is also likely to confuse. If possible would you please remove this writer from the Serer people's article.

Thank you

The hatnote is a navigation aid for people who put Serer in expecting to find things about the Spanish writer. It does not indicate that it is related to this article. noq (talk) 18:38, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

OK thanks for explaining that. What about the rest of my questions? Tamsier (talk) 21:32, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi,

Why do you keep deleting every Serer related article? For example I spent hours yesterday writing up the Notable Serers [see Serer people] that you had previously deleted. I added sources but by the time I finished and was about to save them, someone had edited it and I had to redo all of them again including the Notes and External Links with the exception of couple of them which I was going to finish off today, but when I signed on, I found out that you have deleted them again. I mean you didn't even give me a full 24 hours before deleting. Had you given me 48 hours you would have found out that all Notable Serer entries were sourced or had their own article. All the names you have deleted are actually noted in the Notes Section or in the External Links. Had you taken the time to view the history, you would have found out that it was I who added the Notes Section as well as additional External Links all partaining to the entries you have deleted. As it clearly states on Wiki, all articles start up poorly and as they are developed they get better. How is one going to develop Serer related articles when you keep deleting every Serer related entry or spend your time nominating them for deletion? As I said before, you do not give people a chance before deleting things. I know you want to see articles referenced just like all genuine people on Wiki including myself, but you need to give people a chance before hitting the undo button at the drop of a hat. Furthermore, I have noticed that you have failed to answer the questions I asked above with the exception of one, but went straight to the talk page of one of them to nominated it for speedy deletion. Don't you think it would have been more honourable as an Administrator to address the questions raised on your own talk page, before going to that talk page and nominate it for speedy deletion just because someone is calling for it to be deleted? To be an Administrator is a priviledge and a higher standard is expected of Administrators. There are Administrators who are very fair and honourable in the delivery of their duties. There are of course others who use their power to play games thereby destroying the reputation of Wiki. This should never be about power games, but adhering to the spirit of Wiki. As an Administrator, I would have expected you to know that.

Thank you

Tamsier (talk) 15:14, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

P.S. Notice that you provided short remarks to the above questions without signing them (hence the reason I didn't see them). I apologies for my remarks in relation to not answering the questions, nevertheless my other complaints still stand.

Tamsier (talk) 18:25, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi noq - there is actually a notable person of that same - see fr:Miodrag Milošević, and Miodrag Milosevic at IMDb. The current article content is A7-able ay best, of course, but it presents an interesting issue: should we let it be deleted, or jump in and re-write it? Your thoughts?--Shirt58 (talk) 09:52, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

If you are interested in writing an article for the director then go for it. Whether the current version is deleted or not will not prevent a new page for the director being created - but the current version is just a schoolboys vanity page so either needs overwriting or deleted. noq (talk) 10:47, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Speedy declined

I have declined the speedy deletion nomination of iball3. I do not believe the article, in its present form, is overly promotional. It describes a toy based on reliable sources that appears to have gained some media coverage in the UK. I agree that the creation of the article by the toy's inventor is problematic, and he has been warned about COI editing. You are free to take the article to AFD if you still think it's a problem. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:20, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I deprodded your tag on this article as noted in my edit summary. It gets 100,000s of Ghits, and had major conferences. I will try to source it later. Bearian (talk) 21:48, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Your name was mentioned on the above AFD by User:Tamsier in connection with his/her suspicions about your motivations. I think that he/she is assuming bad faith without evidence, but I just thought I should let you know. Quasihuman | Talk 11:24, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Why is this a Spam link?

Regarding my article, Wall decals; You have removed the ref. I added for a picture as a "Spam link". The ref. added is in accordance with the picture's permission, (self|cc-by-3.0). As the ref. refers to the author of the picture I feel it should be granted. CreativelySpecialised (talk) 08:26, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

The link you gave was to your own website selling these decals - sounds spammy to me. If you wish to donate other pictures in addition to the one already in the article you can post them to commons and confirm with the OTRS process then the pictures can be placed on the article itself. noq (talk) 13:48, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanx for the feedback Noq. Just to be clear, I have been trying to create a great resource about Wall decals on Wikipedia for a couple of months now as you can see, and I have had many pieces of my article deleted that would have been helpful for the community but against the T&C. Please note that it is very difficult to get OTRS form helpful sites other than my "own"(although this site is owned by a person I am affiliated with, but is still not my site.), and so I Don't have other options. I have emailed many sites for OTRS permission and had no response. I feel that the content provided is helpful for the Wikipedia community, is coming from a knowledgeable source, is not promotional, and I am not in breach of any Wikipedia T&C that I am aware of. The link was added in accordance with (self|cc-by-3.0) so I recommend we add it back unless I missed a T&C? CreativelySpecialised (talk) 11:39, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
A link is not covered by cc. The link is to a page that exists to sell decals - this is were the problem is. noq (talk) 11:45, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
You are wrong in both cases, firstly (self|cc-by-3.0) has a condition: "Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work" ref: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/; Secondly, the destination page does not "exists to sell", have a look at the page you will see clearly it is a gallery page, not a shop page. There are also no call-to-actions what so ever on that page. Please undo your unlawful removal. CreativelySpecialised (talk) 15:35, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
The file is attributed on the file page which is linked to when you click on the image - so attribution is there. If there is a condition that the web site is linked to on any page where it is used then that needs to be stated on the file page. Was that condition made clear in the OTRS process? The link also has a large shopping basket prominently displayed on the left hand side - sounds like a shop to me. noq (talk) 19:21, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
I hear what you are saying. So are we in agreement that it is not a clear violation of the T&C and that I an undo your edit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CreativelySpecialised (talkcontribs) 12:09, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
That is not what I am saying - can you answer my questions first - Is the condition documented on the file page and was it made clear in the OTRS process? noq (talk) 12:23, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
Sure: Yes, the condition is documented. See the file page Permission (Reusing this file): "This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License". And so anywhere this file is used it should be attributed and that is exactly what I am trying to do. CreativelySpecialised (talk) 06:27, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
If you click on the image it will take you to the file page where the attribution is - you are claiming an extra condition that a link to the website is explicit on each page it is used - that claim is not made on the file page. If such a condition is there then that needs to be i) made explicit on the file page, ii) disclosed in the OTRS process. If you look at other cc licensed images on Wikipedia they do not all link to the webpage of the donator on every use. noq (talk) 07:55, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Please read WP:Notability. And when the tag was placed there were only two refs. The article made no claim whatsoever to anything other than he is an accountant and has worked for accountancy firms. It needs more than that to be notable. The fact that he is mentioned in the articles should give you scope to improve the article. 17:28, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
And the references seem to be for the book whose article has already been deleted after a deleted debate. noq (talk) 17:32, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
I didn't contest earlier deletion. So there was no "debate". I can improve only if the Prod is removed. I don't want to waste my energy. Boolyme बूलीमी Chat बोलो!! 18:42, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
Well a deletion wont occur until next sunday so there is plenty of time to improve the article if you can do that. As it is a Prod, you can remove the notice at any time although if the article is not improved I would then consider nominating it for an AFD debate. noq (talk) 18:47, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Can you explain to me why you proposed this article for deletion? I don't understand the reason you have given. Besides that: I was still working on the article. So it is rather rude to propose deletion after juist 10 minutes... Eddylandzaat (talk) 19:41, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

I totally agree with you. I think lots of people here have good intentions to share their knowledge and in most cases needs time to write a proper article and post their sources etc. Also not everyone is well versed on Wiki and for some it a learning process. However, certain people like Noq have taken it upon themselves to flag anything for deletion even a brief explaination [say 2 or 3 lines] of someone's religion which has not been sourced. Is just like deleting an unsourced Muslim person's article who says "I am a muslim and I worship Allah." This is crazy. (Tamsier (talk) 13:39, 13 June 2011 (UTC))

174.117.118.146 has been using other ip addresses and has vandalized the actress masiella lusha's site for some time now. his real name is rolando lujan. perhaps it may be considered hagiography because i am writing her accomplishments from my stand point and she had in the past devoted herself to our cause but i will try and remove any extra wording. i even donated some of my photography to wikipedia. i think what people don't know about this young girl is that she loves her charity more than anything. if that makes her come across as a "saint" then i am not sure where to draw the line. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WPray20 (talkcontribs) 19:03, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Given your WP:conflict of interest I would recommend that you do not. If and when the company becomes notable, it is likely someone else will create the article. Wikipedia contains many articles - not all of them appropriate - the existence of those articles does not mean that this article should exist. Merely recreating the article every time it is deleted will only get the article locked out so no one can create without administrator intervention. If you really want to try to create the article - try using the WP:articles for creation process where more experienced editors will check the article and explain any problems. I would urge you not to do this but allow the article to be created at the appropriate time. noq (talk) 20:34, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Eliminating famous names from an enclave of famous people

Hi Noq,

Perhaps you don't know who the people are in the Toluca Lake article. Toluca Lake is known primarily because of the famous people who have lived there since its beginning and who live there now. It's a very unique area of celebrity homes in the middle of an otherwise fairly banal area surrounded by movie studios (Universal, Warner Bros, Disney, Dreamworks). This is where much of old Hollywood and famous people like Bob Hope landed, stayed and developed this unique area and where new Hollywood's A-list actors, directors, composers and producers fight to get into. References for many of these celebs so long ago are difficult, but everyone who has a reference and is a Wiki notable should be included. Those without would need to earn a spot. But almost every name there is a true Hollywood veteran with tremendous notability. This article has included the names for a very long time. I'm going to post this on the discussion page so hopefully you'll allow me to put back a portion of the article that is so tied to the reason for the notability of the town it seems odd to remove it. WikiBob47 (talk) 08:10, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Would you look over my sourcing for Dick Gordon (sports writer)?

While the obit isn't independent, it makes clear this man was writing sports locally for three quarters of a century. Additional cites verify this isn't a hoax, and bring his page past the general notability threshold. He was a well-reprinted, well-regarded sportswriter and the obituary fleshes out the claim he wrote for over 75 years. The paper has no promotional interest in puffing the man's life; therefore it can be considered a useful source, if not useable to establish independent reliable sources. On the other hand, E&P and the author's profile reference make excellent IRSs. BusterD (talk) 17:39, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

I never believed it to be a hoax. The obit made that clear - however I am still not convinced on the notability. From what I can find of the refs you added, most are not significant coverage - remember we need things about him not just reprints of things by him. The editor and publisher one might have more but I can only see a snippet on google which may or may not have something more. The notability guidelines talk of being more than just locally known. noq (talk) 17:58, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for your review. By my casual use of the word hoax, I was referring to verifiability; it's clear this guy existed, and this can be documented. Per WP:MEMORIAL, I can see your reasonable deletion nomination as non-notable. No reason to have articles on just any sportswriter, especially when it appears this was written as a memorial. BTW, none of the citations I used were written by him, though dozens of online pages do exist, mostly in Baseball Digest. However, his longevity is unusual, and verifiable. The link User:Dream Focus just put up is very pretty impressive, too. BusterD (talk) 18:12, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm not trying to affect your actions, but I thought I should share this reaction with you, drawing some parallels between two simultaneous AfD procedures I'm involved with. Cyclos page.

Hi Noq,

Can you help me please, because I am not exactly sure what do to. I found an old page about the cyclos software, there where no references or anything. Then I decided to contribute something to wikipedia and upgraded the article.

In the sector I work Cyclos is quite famous. It's the most used open source complementary currency banking software, so the things I wrote are just fact about the software you see when you download it. I can add more links but I don't think this will make things more clear for the readers.

Just google "cyclos software", or "cyclos banking", or "cyclos complementary currency" and you'll find hundreds of links. http://www.collapsenet.com/information-on-the-web/70-open-source/1272-cyclos-software http://www.sunflower.ch/index.php?p=site4_cyclos&l=en http://trado.info/node/10 http://www.correntewire.com/cyclos_alternative_currency_software http://www.collapsenet.com/information-on-the-web/70-open-source/1272-cyclos-software

Well let me know what I can do, for me it would be ashame if I had upgraded this page for nothing.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmvanarkel (talkcontribs) 13:12, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

You need to find WP:reliable sources writing about the software - These should be independent of the project itself to establish notability. Directory listings and the like are not considered reliable sources for this purpose. Neither are references written by the project itself. Don't worry about the article being deleted - the tags I placed on it are not to request that, but to highlight that the article needs work. Some Wikipedians will go to pages with these tags to help improve the article so it is good to have them at this stage. The sources you listed are a start - although you have listed collapsenet twice. Look for coverage in respected magazines and newspapers, research papers and so on. If possible find things from non specialist publications - although this may not be possible it does show broader notability. Good luck. noq (talk) 13:31, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your reaction, I will just add the webpages then and wait for a professional wikipedian to make it tidy. Hopefully they have some time soon :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmvanarkel (talkcontribs) 13:58, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Indoor tanning lotion until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. --Gh87 (talk) 04:15, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

I agree with Noq that consensus is very much against you. We should not have possibly misleading information in the encyclopaedia and I will revert it back to the previous version. ERPNext

Hello.

OK - first thanks for volunteering to keep wikipedia sane and I totally respect your opinion to mark my page for deletion. But before you do, I hope you take some time out to hear out my case because I think you may have missed something.

Notability: This page is the de-facto listing of Open Source ERP softwares and very important for any Open Source project like us.

Why we qualify?

Fairness: Please have a look at some other ERP pages and see if they also fit the same critiria you are using to mark this.

Please compare:

  • Please see what community they have
  • Please find out how active is their development
  • Do they have a working demo? If yes, is it just scaffolding or something real

Neutrality: Since I am the creator of this project, I may be biased, but if you look at the page, I have tried to keep opinions out of it and have also listed some of the weaknesses of the project. Like lack of automated testing. For your info - I have seen other projects and 90% don't even have any test case.

I will ask some other members of our project community to update this page. But I would request you to look at my case with fairness.

Thanks, Rushabh

Hi Rushabh, Here are some links that I think you ought to read:
  • WP:notability - The general notability guidelines. Note the reasons you have given above are not included.
  • WP:reliable sources - We need significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Not just mentions in a list.
  • WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS - just because another article exists that might not meet the guidelines is no reason for this to exist.
The important part is the sourcing and notability. As someone has already noted on your talk page, editing pages that you have a WP:conflict of interest with is generally discouraged and it is far better to wait until the project has reached a level that it is being noticed more widely in which case someone else would create an article about it. noq (talk) 15:52, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello Noq,

Thank you for your response. I understand that we have not received significant coverage. Infact the last time the page was deleted, I did not protest and thought the same, let time decide.

But recently a few people in our community told me about the page and I checked the other listings. If you look at many of the other listing, they are far lesser projects than us. So I thought I must atleast put up a (small) fight. This page is really the de-facto page on search engines and it will be great disadvantage for us not to be listed.

I agree it does not meet the criteria, but if half of the other pages are removed like Tryton, fedena, smbleger, heliumV (etc) I have no problem. I just ask you to be fair - all projects must have a level playing field.

Thanks!

Rushabhmehta1 (talk) 16:07, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

suggestion

Hello Noq, sorry for the frequent messages. I just thought a bit more and have an idea. Why not allow all open source projects to be listed at List of ERP software packages and only those with "significant coverage" to be allowed a page.

We can also separate "new" open source projects from the mature ones, so visitors can decide for them selves. This way, all projects get a fair listing and we also keep wikipedia's sanity.

If you say yes, I can do the change.

(The reality is that the "significant coverage" is a self fulfilling concept. List of ERP software packages is the #1 search result and all listed projects will get more and more coverage.)

Thanks!

Rushabhmehta1 (talk) 16:31, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

I am not the person who will ultimately decide whether the article is kept or deleted. As you yourself have just said it does not meet the criteria I would expect it to be deleted. Wikipedia is not for advertising or giving coverage to something that would not otherwise get it. You are still arguing that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS which will get you nowhere - if you believe that these pages do not meet the guidelines you are free to nominate them for the deletion - but there existence in no way makes your page less of a deletion candidate. noq (talk) 17:14, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

Marked as Patrolled

Hi there, Noq. Just a little request. It seems that Twinkle, quite annoyingly, doesn't mark pages as patrolled even when you tag them for WP:CSD, WP:PROD or WP:AFD. I've just come across two articles, that you'd tagged for WP:PROD on the unpatrolled list. I'm sure you already know, but if you scroll down to the bottom of the article, there will be a little link in square brackets that says [mark this page as patrolled]. Clicking that means it'll get taken off the unpatrolled list and so no-one else will come across it on that list. It's not your fault, I know; it's Twinkle's. But until they fix it, it'd be great if you could click that link just before you tag an article. I've marked that one as patrolled. If you didn't find the article via the new pages list then just ignore me; you won't have had the option to mark it as patrolled. Sorry to be a pain. Keep up the good work. Speedy deletion declined: Emir Hot

Hello Noq. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Emir Hot, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: claims of notability e.g. "the best ex-Yugoslavian metal record" that seem reasonable. some sources exist too. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 14:29, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

M. Griffin - More That One Famous Person With That Name

Proposed deletion of M. Griffin (disambiguation) - great, propose it, but don't then go delete it without a discussion. End get someone who follows music to review this.

There is more than one "M. Griffin". One's a coach, and the other a very well-known ambient musician and founder and co-owner of Hypnos - look it up, plenty of references - that has put out over 100 CDs since it was founded. Mike needs an entry just as much as Robert Rich, who put out four releases over six years on Hypnos.

If that's not justification enough, you need to let someone who knows Hypnos and Robert Rich review this and decide if it should be deleted. You're probably just a sports person. That's fine, and I'm not changing the coach's page, just adding a disabm. page and a short entry for the musician.

In the independent music community, M. Griffin is well known and respected. I am just trying to make an entry for him, so that people interested in Hypnos and over a dozen, well-reviewed CD releases. I have no doubt that most people interested in music could give a darn about some dead football coach.

So I am just trying to create a disambiguation page to be able to point to both "M. Griffin" people.

Isn't that the WHOLE POINT of the disabm. page?? WinkJunior (talk) 02:02, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Marked for Deletion

Hi noq, I just published my first Wikipedia article and received a notice about a pending deletion. It seems you have jumped to the conclusion that this was an autobiography, but I am not sure why that is. It occurs to me that my username has the same first name (although spelled differently) and the same last initial as the subject of the entry; however, this article is not about me. I do not think I have done anything quite memorable enough to entitle me to an article on Wikipedia. Any suggestions on cleaning things up to avoid this assumption would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Michelem68 (talk) 16:21, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

curious

Curious - do you do anything except delete the valid work of others? Good job aggravating writers, just what Wikipedia needs, someone who drives valid writers away. They used to say, Those who can't do, teach. I guess here is Those who can't do, delete. Karen Anne (talk) 17:31, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

I cannot delete anything - that requires an administrator. I occasionally do new page patrol which inevitably means I propose many articles for deletion. Most of those but not all end up being deleted after a review by someone else. The article you created did not appear to meet the notability requirements for authors which despite your opinion is not just being published. There are guidelines at WP:AUTHOR which I linked to in the original prod which you removed without addressing the issues raised - a prod gives a seven day grace period to address those issues before an administrator will look at it and decide if it meets the criteria so improving the article s it met the criteria was always an option. Removing the prod without addressing the concern was always likely to provoke a more formal AFD which is different to the prod originally applied - it is harder to recreate an article that has been deleted after a formal AFD than the less formal prod. Wikipedia has thousands of new articles created everyday, many of them as the result of vandalism and misguided attempts to create articles that do not meet the criteria for inclusion. Inevitably proposing page deletions incurs the wrath of some the editors concerned as seen on this talk page. I do not edit this page to hide any of that (although I have moved this section to the bottom of the page as per convention) but a closer look at my edit history will show I do other things although most edits do seem to be either a result of new page patrol or vandalism on pages on my watchlist Wikipeida is built on consensus rather than an anything goes point of view nd edits can be challenged at any time. Please take the time to read the relevant notability criteria and address the issues raised rather than rant about editors trying to follow policy. noq (talk) 01:42, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

You are vandalizing my contributions on a continual basis

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

Re: Wall decals. I have reported you via the level 1 vandalism clause because your "edits" to my contributions over the past year have mostly been vandalism and unconstructive edits. You also do not attempt to use the discussion page to state your reason for removing entire pieces of my contribution, and you also do not offer alternative contributions to mine. I have looked at your history and you rarely contribute, you only remove content and try to delete peoples contributions. I see I am not the only one this this complaint about you. If you continue to vandalize my contributions I will escalate to level 2 warning, and there after to level 3 and 4. So I am going to roll back your edit. CreativelySpecialised (talk) 06:42, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

The actual policy is Bold, revert, discuss. I reverted your edit giving the reason for doing so - you should then contest the reversion on the article talk pages - not accuse the reverter of vandalism and ree-instate your own problematic edit. The specific reason for removing the section you added can be found be reading WP:NOTHOWTO. noq (talk) 09:26, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Like usual, you provide no help or even constructive criticism. Just like BRD states, "Take it to the talk page". But you have never bothered to do that. This is why I reported you. You simply paste a link to a random article that "apparently" mentions what clause you used to delete my contribution; What I would have done is to provide some help in addition to the link and first talk to the contributor to come to a resolution. I would never just delete content like you. That method does not benefit the Wikipedia culture.CreativelySpecialised (talk) 10:35, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
BRD says Bold, REVERT, discuss - not BOLD, revert, revert, discuss. I challenged your edit so it is up to you to argue for your edit in the talk pages. I gave a reason on the edit summary for the reversion and again above - your report at WP:Administrator intervention against vandalism has already been answered pointing out that it is not vandalism. The link given is not a random page but explains in detail the problem. Please read it instead of just dismissing it as a random page. noq (talk) 10:48, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

CreativelySpecialised, please refrain from abusing the word "vandalism". Vandalism requires bad faith; that is, a vandal is someone who intends to cause harm to the encyclopedia. So don't go around reporting "vandals" like Noq because it just makes you look wrong. In addition, Noq is correct about about BRD. Lastly, your confrontational and self-righteous message here is really the only problem I see. Anyone who makes an argument about content by first criticising the editor and making wild and baseless accusations—that's disruptive. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 14:41, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Rugby player page moves.

Degsy, Where is the consensus for the mass page moves? This has been discussed in the past and no consensus reached, so why the moves now? I think it would be better to discuss this at WP:RU before continuing. noq (talk) 15:02, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I wasn't aware of the discussion, and I was just trying to bring some consistency to the article naming. The most common suffix appeared to be (rugby union), but there are also a smaller number of (rugby player) and (rugby footballer) suffixes, that don't accurately identify the sport the person plays. I thought it would be uncontroversial to bring them into line with the most common suffix. Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 15:12, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
No worries, I have just started a discussion at WT:RU#Mass name changes to see if the consensus has changed. Please add your thoughts there. noq (talk) 15:22, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

The K Foundation burn a million quid

Hi Noq. I'm interested in your view that the current ownership of the Ardfin Estate on Jura is 'not relevant'. I might agree if the new owner were just any old landowner. But the point is that Mr Coffey is the polar opposite of the K Foundation: he's a hedge fund trader who deals entirely in money and presumably values it above anything else. That is deeply ironic. Drummond and Cauty must relish it, and I think we should too! Regards Dhmellor (talk) 17:08, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Ecoigo Page marked for deletion

Hi Noq, you marked my page for deletion last month for WP: notability so I took it down and made some changes- now all the reference links are working and 'at least' half are written directly about ecoigo. I also addressed bias by removing several passages about the company technology, values etc. It was largely irrelevant in a wiki document and it sounded promotional. I got some advice and feedback from Chzz  ►  so now his changes have been made I am planning to upload it as a work in progress if you think its ok for now- once I have double checked the remaining references. The sandbox is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Edmund6795/sandbox Please let me know what you think. Edmund6795 (talk) 14:21, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

November 2011

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Software testing: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 15:03, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello Noq, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD templates you added to a number of articles were removed:

  • PROD removed from Nuspire, by User:Nubee, with summary '(Challenging a proposed deletion for Notablility by adding references from national and local new sources.)'

Please consider discussing your concerns with the relevant users before pursuing deletion further. If you still think the articles should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may send them to WP:AfD for community discussion. Classical Esther Silverherb

Thank you, noq, for your very kind message. I am very obliged to you, and may I please have the honor of your acquaintance? How may I ask questions to you ect? I know nothing of the computer, and I hope writing on the talk page in this fashion is not a mistake or a liberty. My first wish is to be a good Wikipedian, but I have no idea how. Please help! And once again, thank you. Please contact me! It shall gratify me unspeakably. Again, thank you, and goodbye!(UTC) p.s. what does (UTC) mean anyway? @.@ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Classical Esther (talkcontribs)

Leicester Mercury edit

Hi Noq - I have edited something you added to the Leicester Mercury page. Your edit suggested that the Mercury is now produced in Nottingham. That is not true. Only a very small part of the back-end production was moved to Nottingham in April 2009. The vast majority of staff remain in Leicester. All writing, editing and proofing is still done in Leicester, as is the design of all major pages. Photographers and feature writers are all based in Leicester.

I hope this helps.

Maxime Médard modifications

Sorry to respond 4 months late. About the Maxime Médard modifications I made which were reverted (nicknames: Max la Menace....etc), I don't understand the "vandalism" accusation: these are actual nicknames given to him here in France, and appearing in the french wiki version.

Donisthorpe Football Club

Hi, Not sure why youve chose to mark my page about Donisthorpe Football Club for deletion, it is about a genuine FA registered football club that represents the village of donisthorpe (Which has a Wikipedia page) so i thought their football team deserved a wikipedia page, I am a player and assistant manager of Donisthorpe FC and have permission by the chairman and manager to write this article, Please let me know how i can improve the article so that it doesnt get deleted as i feel it is important for people from the area to know about their community and a lot use wikipedia for reference.
