Hello[edit]

Hello,This is my first time on wikipedia. The first link is so people can find out about peerfest, is this wrong? The second link is as I did not want to link to the entry on wikipedia for the description of Peer Support as it is not the same as what I know and believe (as do many in the mental health sector with lived experience) as peer support can be one person with depression supporting and sharing experieces with another person with depression without any professionals or organisations being involved. Please advice? Many thanks. FionaArt — Preceding unsigned comment added by FionaArt (talkcontribs) 21:36, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Deletion proposal[edit]

Proposing an article for deletion precisely ten minutes after it has been started seems a curiously wasteful way to spend your time. Please get yourself a coffee (or something worse, if that is your preference), drink some, take a deep breath and find yourself something EVEN more useful to do. AND have a nice day. All Things Are Possible[edit]

Thank you for taking an interest in the All Things Are Possible (disambiguation) page that I just created some minutes ago. Since you reviewed that, you may also be interested in participating in the discussion I have just initiated at Talk:All Things Are Possible, where I suggested renaming those two articles. —BarrelProof (talk) 20:38, 4 September 2014 (UTC)

Talk:All Things Are Possible[edit]

I've re-opened this discussion. I think that the creation of a dab page changes the discussion, so I am inviting the discussants to reconsider this move. Regards, Ground Zero | t 12:29, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated[edit]

Hi, I'm Mabalu. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Nusrat Blood Bank, and have un-reviewed it again. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you. Mabalu (talk) 10:29, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for the greeting, Osarius. I'm looking forward to starting to help out on Wikipedia. I've started by doing some light copy editinf, but I'd like to contribute in a more substantial way. I'd appreciate any suggestions you have!Zhujiangshuiguai (talk) 15:44, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Still Nonsense[edit]

In another language, blatant vandalism, will the article be deleted Luxure (talk) 11:11, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

The CSD tag you placed on the article first does not cover articles written in non-English. Secondly, the article is about a real person, who is not notable - even though the article is in another language. Hence A7 is more appropriate. Osarius - Want a chat? 11:14, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
But will it still be deleted? What was the point of contesting? Luxure (talk) 11:17, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
Yes, it will, if it meets the criteria on the CSD. I was not contesting to the pages deletion, rather changing the CSD to a more appropriate criteria. Osarius - Want a chat? 11:19, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Pinapadu[edit]

May I know the reason for the move on Pinapadu (rural)? Pinapadu part is merged with Tenali municipality. Even the census India website says it as Pinapadu (R). You can check these pages as well. Guntur (rural), Machilipatnam (rural), Eluru (rural). Check it--Vin09 (talk) 17:16, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Thank you osarius![edit]

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews[edit]

Hello Osarius. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Still want your name on Teahouse invites?[edit]

Hi Osarius! A while back, you agreed to have your name attached to some of the daily Teahouse invites sent by HostBot. Are you still interested in having your name included in some of these invites? If not, I'm happy to remove your name from the list. Cheers, - J-Mo Talk to Me Email Me 00:11, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

BLP PROD[edit]

Hi Osarius, for future reference, BLP PROD is for unsourced articles. This article that you added it to has sources. They're just not listed in the references section. Best, Sarah (SV) (talk) 19:49, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Missed the deletion discussion - now what?[edit]

Hi, Thank you for saying hello. I am a newbie and I was hoping you may be able to help me on a specific problem. One of my pages was up for deletion and since I was not notified that there was a discussion I was unable to partake. Now my page has been deleted and I don't know where on wikipedia I am to submit my discussions points. Do I start a deletion review? Please help. Thanks! SeaSalt7 (talk) 18:16, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi SeaSalt7. Thanks for your question. You can create a deletion review at WP:DRV. Please note that it is not usually required that the original author of an article be involved in a deletion discussion. If the page was speedy deleted, you may find it useful to have a read of WP:TAGGED. I hope this helps. Osarius - Want a chat? 15:05, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Osarius for the help. I'll take a look at the WP:TAGGED page and see what I can't workout.SeaSalt7 (talk) 21:21, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Marion H. Beckett[edit]

Hello Osarius,

Thank you for your welcoming words to Wikipedia. I attended the Art + Feminism + Tacos event last Saturday and created a page with the gracious help of trainers there. It is titled Marion H. Beckett. I googled it and it didn't come up:

Marion H. Beckett Marion H. Beckett Wiki

I looked at my talk page and didn't find any reference to it, or it's deletion, but was able to open it from the event list that puts all the articles that we created that day:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/ArtandFeminism

I am very gratified to see that a picture I inserted for the page: Dawn Hampton (she has a german wiki page only despite being an american performer) remains. I inserted the note that I "improved" that page on the event page, as I have forgotten to do it on the day of the event. That note is in red.

Does it take a while for the bots to find and put a page into the search results?

Thanks, 23skid00 (talk) 03:53, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi 23skid00. May I start by first saying thank you for contributing and expanding Wikipedia. I have read your article, and it has not been deleted. Wikipedia does not have any control over when Googlebot crawls Wikipedia for new or updated articles. I wouldn't be worried about an article not appearing on Google - it will in its own time; you should instead concentrate on continuing to make quality articles. Talk:Battersea Park Big Dipper[edit]

I don't know why you renamed the article whilst the RM is ongoing. Therefore, I moved it back. --George Ho (talk) 17:26, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Why? Well, it's been 7 days since the proposal and the proposal has no objections. Please tell me where I went wrong again? Osarius - Want a chat? 18:42, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
...Sorry. You can move it again if you want, but you must also close the RM in the talk page as "moved without objections" or something like that. Link is above. --George Ho (talk) 19:10, 18 June 2015 (UTC)
