Women in Red[edit]

Hi there, OtuNwachinemere, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to hear you intend to help us improve coverage of women on Wikipedia. If you go to our Redlinks index, you will find lots of lists where you are likely to find the names of women who coincide with your interests. As you are interested in Africa, you might like to participate in our Contest of Women in Africa. You might also find it useful to look through our Ten Simple Rules. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 16:15, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WiR from Nigeria[edit]

Hello! I noticed on WiR that you have been creating articles on Nigerian women, which is wonderful! Last year there was a WikiGap challenge organized by Wikimedia Nigeria and Sweden and I made this table out of the recommended articles so a quick glance would tell us what languages the articles were in or not in. I'm not sure if it's any use to you, but I thought I'd let you know something like that exists :) -Yupik (talk) 08:41, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome! Thank you.

It appears some profiles absent in en exist in es. Can I simply translate to en and maybe improve?

Excited! Lists does really simplify things. OtuNwachinemere (talk) 14:42, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure! I love lists and find they help me focus on one article at a time :) And yes, by all means, do translate them! The usual advice is to only import references that you can verify, but you can also add in new ones if you come across them. I'm slow as heck at answering messages, but drop me a line if I can help with anything :) -Yupik (talk) 05:54, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In regards to your conversation on Talk:WIR - You'll figure it out. You are doing such great work. It is vital, not just for Africa or Nigeria or Women but for the Encyclopedia as a whole. Sometimes we move so fast that the world has to catch up. Keep that chin up and keep moving, beautiful Song. Your impact is already felt. --ARoseWolf 19:01, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Paul Enenche requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Enenche (2nd nomination. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 18:49, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

October 2022[edit]

Hi OtuNwachinemere, your edits on Aguata are borderline disruptive. I undid your initial short description change and provided an explanation. You went ahead and made another change, essentially putting it back to what it was before my revert, and didn't bother to engage in any sort of dialogue with me. This isn't generally how things are done on Wikipedia. This is a collaborative platform where editors discuss changes in order to come up with optimal improvements for each article. If you refuse to engage in dialogue with editors with whom you are disagreeing, this is an uncollaborative approach and thus not conducive to best results. Please consider discussing or explaining your changes rather than unilaterally imposing them. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 17:13, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Revirvlkodlaku, Thanks for reaching out. I noticed your revert and the reason for it, consequently i made an adjustment to the short description to better provide clarification. Aguata is infact a Local Government Area in Imo State and not just a town. Your description is not entirely accurate. Since as you rightly pointed out "LGA" is an unknown initialism to most readers....... , I think my last short description best fits. Don't you agree? OtuNwachinemere (talk) 17:25, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. So you're saying Aguata isn't actually a town, is that correct? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 17:33, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No @Revirvlkodlaku, it is infact a town, as you correctly pointed out. However, and more importantly, it is a Local Government Area in Imo state. An administrative division exercising a degree of self-government and recognised by the government. Hence, the latter description best fits. OtuNwachinemere (talk) 17:42, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I read the beginning of the article in a perfunctory manner and concluded that perhaps it wasn't a town after all, this is why I undid my revert. Now it seems it is one after all. If it is a town, a word that anyone can easily understand, besides being much shorter than "Local Government Area", I posit that "town" is preferable, both in terms of accessibility and brevity. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 00:28, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi OtuNwachinemere, are you still with me? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 16:15, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Revirvlkodlaku, I find it absurd that we should be going back and forth on this really simple matter. You agree, revert, get thanked and then disagree again all by yourself and almost at once. I have now moved on to other important matters. Cheers and enjoy the weekend! OtuNwachinemere (talk) 22:16, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OtuNwachinemere, perhaps you believe that agreement or consensus is easy to reach and must remain static? I assure you that neither is the case. Going back and forth is the basis of achieving best results, which is what I'm interested in. I find your attitude condescending, to say the least. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 22:21, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From your edit history, its apparent you enjoy doing this. I am uninterested at the moment. Kindly desist from editing my talkpage. The notifications are distracting. Best. OtuNwachinemere (talk) 22:42, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Women in Red 8th Anniversary[edit]

Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! File permission problem with File:Logo of the University of Abuja, Nigeria.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Logo of the University of Abuja, Nigeria.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 04:59, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
