Speedy deletion of Hitch's Happy Harmonists[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Hitch's Happy Harmonists requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. File source problem with File:Esraj.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Esraj.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.88.65.246 (talk) 03:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Image permission problem with Image:Flickr, George Koller.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Flickr, George Koller.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.88.65.246 (talk) 03:17, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kawai-san'shouse.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on File:Kawai-san'shouse.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file showing no evidence that the copyright holder has released it under the license indicated by the uploader which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. bad file link for solomon cutner[edit]

somehow... probably because of a similar file name, the pic i uploaded has been replaced by a judge dread jpeg...? -not sure how to fix it...

  • You just need to reupload the image with a different name, one that isn't already in use. If a little sunshine symbol flashes up when you add file destination name then it is taken. Polly (Parrot) 22:12, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Nhkhan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Fair use rationale for File:Knjiga o Milutinu.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Knjiga o Milutinu.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. File:JIM NORMAN.jpeg[edit]

For File:JIM NORMAN.jpeg you have labeled for use on Wikipedia only, this is not a valid license for Wikipedia, and a free one that allows copying and modification is required such as CC-BY-SA-3.0. The email to en-permissions should confirm such a license. Hopefully the copyright holder will grant such a permission with a low res shot like this. Also some kind of identity of the copyright holder should be revealed unless a CC-0 or PD release is desired. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:31, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi... thanks for helping me in the right direction. I try to do a thorough job, but I am a little new to the technical side of Wikipedia. I will try again with the CC-BY... Although I'm still not exactly clear as how to proceed... It would be great if you could help oversee this properly... thanks.Paradise coyote (talk) 16:50, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

I have restored the pciture and labelled with cc-by-2.0, but you will need to get that permissions email in to keep it. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:23, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Love Twins (song)[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Love Twins (song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

does not meet WP:NSONGS

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 20:44, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Skaila Kanga[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Skaila Kanga, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.musiciansgallery.com/start/strings/harps/kanga/skaila.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 22:26, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading File:Funktwo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Fred the Oyster (talk) 00:41, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Obituary tag on Eric Tunney[edit]

Please do not remove valid cleanup tags without providing an appropriate edit summary, and especially without doing any work to correct the problems therein. The article reads like an obituary because unsurprisingly it was created in response to Tunney's death and is sourced entirely to obituaries. I have re-tagged the article; work required will include examining the tone used (which is currently excessively positive and sympathetic) and removing the "Remembrances" section unless there is reason to believe that said remembrances are in some way a definitive part of the biography. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 08:04, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

I did provide a reason on the talk page. Did you read it? I wrote the article to be completely impartial. Perhaps you should read it again.Paradise coyote (talk) 13:10, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Apologies for missing the talk page comment; leaving an edit summary with a note to it would have been helpful. Anyway, I've now gone through the article and fixed the problems. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 09:19, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Information.svg Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Molly Shannon. I cannot find any information stating that she has died. Do you have a source? Thanks. --Logical Fuzz (talk) 20:09, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Well gee whiz, maybe somebody shouldn't have put her death on the recent death page for today. I was just doing her article a favor by adding the recent death tag so that people would proceed with caution. The real culprit is whoever put her on the recent death page.Paradise coyote (talk) 21:06, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Court painter[edit]

I've added a comment at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Court painter. EdJohnston (talk) 18:02, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Commons is a different project, sort of[edit]

Hi, I saw your message at Commons:Commons:Village pump. I think you were confused because Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons are two different "projects" of the WMF. Even though your logon works there you have a different user page there, so it was blank, but as you see this one is OK.

I see that you were making a fair use claim for one image, but you put that reply in the wrong place - there was a link suggested for discussion, but the person making the decision might not read your talk page.

To save you further confusion, if an image is very old you can put it on Commons, and if an image is not so old but you go through some hoops trying to see if the copyright was renewed and then put it on (I think). But if you're claiming fair use then it has to go on Wikipedia (which is what you did, so you could have made an argument for it). Both projects accept image uploads, and Wikipedia's overrides Commons, but images that can go on Commons should so other projects can use them.

I know this is all very confusing at first - just keep reading the policies and help, and ask when they aren't clear. Wnt (talk) 21:35, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks... I get it now... No problem... I'm a hard worker, I'm just not a "tech" guy... More of an analogue man... I own a vinyl lp store and I know a lot of shit, but I never worked in code or with computers much before this - but I collect tens of thousands of books, records, comics and art-work, so I love the idea of this online Hessian order... Your help is much appreciated.Paradise coyote (talk) 21:57, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Dutch Mason and image on page[edit]

I believe that Wikipedia copyright policy only permits album covers to be used in relation to a page on the specific album. It would be permissible to put up a picture of Dutch Mason that you own, or a picture that can be viewed as a public promotional picture from his record company or his management. At some point, an editor is going to take off the image that you have put up. Better to set up a Prime Minister of The Blues album page and position the cover there.

License tagging for File:Curveextended.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Curveextended.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Nomination of Dennis Taylor (musician) for deletion[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Dennis Taylor (musician), which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dennis Taylor (musician) until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. -Lilac Soul (TalkContribs) 12:53, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Dennis Taylor (musician)[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dennis Taylor (musician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. 2 says you, says two 17:56, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

The Nutcracker FAC[edit]

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the The Nutcracker article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. --Andy Walsh (talk) 19:20, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

January 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Bhimsen Joshi. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Please do not add YouTube links about performances. The link you added signifies promotion material. Wikipedia only records facts from reliable sources. See WP:NOT
Signed | Aoghac2z
23:47, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

The link to YouTube is not "about" a performance, it "is" a performance. It is not promotional in any way and you have left an invalid comment. Saying that there should not be examples of art would thereby render any images of any art by any visual artists as "promotional", so go back and review your mistake.Paradise coyote (talk) 01:20, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Belittling others won't take you anywhere, so you might want to refrain from using terms such as 'mistakes'. Try and keep your cool when communicating with other editors on Wikipedia. Second of all, I never said anything to the tune of 'there should be no examples of art'. That's something you've assumed. As with art (be they images or videos), they are acceptable to Wikipedia as long as they support and corroborate factual content that is recorded on the article page. Therefore, those do not qualify as promotional. In what way does your YouTube video of the performance corroborate any factual information that is already recorded on the page? If you can provide a rational for including a performance video to support a fact recorded on the article, by all means you are welcome. Simply posting random performance links qualifies as promoting that particular performance, as you know there are countless such performances. If everyone's desire to add such videos is honored, Wikipedia will cease to be an encyclopedia, rather it will end up becoming YouTube. See what I mean? Consider reading WP:YOUTUBE#YouTube
Signed | Aoghac2z
02:31, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
What factual content does it corroborate??? Have you read the article or clicked on the link? It corroborates the essence of the article - that he was a professional singer. This is made evident by the video, which only streams audio and has a still picture. I would agree with you if there were more than one video "linked" as an example, or if a page for one artist was swimming in multiple YouTube links, but that is not the case for this, or tens of thousands of other articles with one relative YouTube link. If you can not see the practicality of someone who is trying to learn about something/someone being able to experience what they have just read by clicking on an external link provided by an experienced page creator or expander, then I'm afraid I'll never understand your point of view. As for the belittling and keeping you cool comments, if you really need to make my comments seem that vicious for your own sake go right ahead.Paradise coyote (talk) 03:55, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Very sorry to say but your video does NOT corroborate anything of the sort. The video is simply a vocal performance by the Pandit, and does not corroborate any of the factual content provided in the article in an EXPLICIT sense. Second of all, I wouldn't be writing to you if I hadn't checked out the link you posted, so you really need to refrain from making assumptive allegations. Thirdly, you cannot base your argument on the fact that your link is the only link present right now. In the future, you will have many more people wanting to add links of their own. Think about what happens in that situation. Lastly, what I am presenting is NOT my point of view. I am arguing on behalf of established policies at Wikipedia. Additionally, you are requested to refrain from edit warring (which I just saw you did)... I hope you understand that edit warring is grounds for being blocked. You should discuss this on the relevant talk page, establish consensus from all editors and then make changes which are of disputed nature. Ideally, you would want to take this discussion to Talk:Bhimsen_Joshi. Please consider discussing this issue on the relevant talk page instead of edit warring.

Upon Aoghac2z's request, I would like to enter this conversation. I think, and general Wikipedia policies state, that unnecessary external links should be avoided. See WP:YOUTUBE for info on what kinds of external links are allowed. This particular video/audio in contention doesn't really fit any of the criteria does it. I must say that personally, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi is one of my favourite Kannada vocalists of all time, and I admire his music a lot.
And actually, to be fair to Paradise coyote, the addition of the link itself doesn't constitute spam or promotion. It isn't about a company or scheme or something. It doesn't constitute promotion, but still, I don't think it should be added. I see Paradise coyote's point in the discussion above, but you know, Wikipedia isn't a hub for hosting of youtube links or anything of that sort, so there you go. TheMikeWassup doc? 05:42, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh wow... you brought your friend in to help. Gee whiz. Golly. What am I to do? And what is it that puts you up higher than me and allows you to threaten blocking me? And what right do you have to take the high road over this back and forth and call my actions edit warring and yours not? Have you seen my user page and the tireless volunteer time I've put in? My Wikipedia involvement has been written about in our main arts and culture weekly here in Toronto. And another thing - if you really believe that pages should not contain any promotional content, then you better start going around and deleting all of the links to peoples and companies homepages/websites, because if that isn't propagating self/entity promotion, I don't know what it. Thanks for ganging up on the enjoyment of sharing music. I'm sure that that should take precedence over all of the other work that needs to be done for Wikipedia.Paradise coyote (talk) 14:39, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── You really do need to refrain from belittling others on Wikipedia. Seriously, that sarcasm is not going help you. I didn't bring 'my friend' to help, rather I sought the opinion of another editor (who I happened to communicate with for the first time) on this issue. Wikipedia is an output of collaboration. If editors did not collaborate and share opinions on disputed issues, we wouldn't be editing here today. No one is ganging up on you. Rather we strive to adhere to established policies on Wikipedia and make an ardent endeavor to encourage other editors to adhere to the same. Your involvement being published in an arts weekly has no relevance whatsoever. Wikipedia does not care about editor credentials. See WP:CAI. About promotional content - it is an established Wikipedia policy to NOT allow promotional content. Therefore, it's not something I 'believe' in.. it's an established policy. Additionally, nothing puts me higher than you. We're all equal here. And for the record, I never 'threatened' to block you.. rather I said that Edit Warring is grounds for being blocked. It was a precautionary advice. Lastly, Wikipedia is not a medium to 'enjoy and share music'. There's YouTube for that.

You belittled me when you treated like a novice from the roboticized first paragraph of your first message. Since the first encyclopedia created in England, to the historical records of the ancient Greeks and right back to the cave drawings of prehistoric man, people have sought to provide examples of their documentation and if you think that in the future there won't be an immediate link or already present example present on digitally accessible (or whatever they call it by that time) encyclopedic entries then I don't know what to say. -And by the way, when I edit articles, I spend the time to make them better and stronger - I don't simply strike off someone's work when the argument for it being there in the first place is so easily debatable. For you to claim that you are 100% right on this argument is not a possibility. At first I was going to say "nonsense" - but you're very sensitive, so I said "is not a possibility.Paradise coyote (talk) 17:01, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
You can have it your way. My beliefs and my arguments are mostly serviced by the fourth external link anyway. And besides, who needs to have a link to a song that isn't cut into and interrupted all the time by narration? That would be excessively servicing the spiritual impact of music and we wouldn't want that now would we? Besides, it's not like the 16 examples of paintings, 5 external links to visuals and link to his official website (???) of Picasso on his page would have any impact on anyone spiritually, or be seen as promotional. But of course, he's a famous western artist, so western people expect all sorts of overlap and exhaustible information.Paradise coyote (talk) 17:27, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── First, let us all calm down. No one is belittling anybody. Lets put an end to that talk. I am an uninvolved editor and am not supporting anybody. Paradise coyote, let me tell you that your contributions cannot be called promotional. I agree with you. I request you to read this guideline, and let me know what you think of it. Have a good day. TheMikeWassup doc? 18:00, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

LOL @ Paradise Coyote. See, there you go again. Calling me 'sensitive' is yet another attempt from your side at cheapshots jugglery. Please see WP:CIVIL and you'll understand why I repeatedly told you about refraining from sarcastic lingo. I have and it doesn't say anything one way or the other and doesn't make a difference to me. I have learned to put up with all sorts of garbage entries on Wikipedia - and if I spent most of my time editing, I would easily find better things to work on (eg: the notability of every porn star in the world with a couple of films under their belts). LOL all you want, I don't agree with your methods. I find them needlessly anal and restricting to the creation of good pages. - "Welcome to my page. You have landed on this page for either of the two reasons:
  • You found by edits annoying and want to yell at me." - Looks like you're an old pro at being contentious concerning things like this. And b.t.w., I think you meant to write "You found MY edits annoying" - as an editor, you should try to persuade people of your abilities by proofreading your own user page properly, especially considering there isn't all that much text there.Paradise coyote (talk) 19:30, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

This time, you've taken your cheap shots to a higher avenue by highlighting typos from my user page which have nothing to do with the topic at hand. I hope you realize that your above statement qualifies as a personal attack. I encourage you to read WP:CIVIL again. And just for the record, what I write on my own user page is my own business. Whether I choose to inject a dollop of humor into it, that's my own decision. Obviously you've missed the humor element in it. The article Mboya Nicholson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Has released two or more albums on a major label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are notable)." There is also no reliable sources listed in the article or that I could find... Wikipeida, wix and allaboutjazz allows anyone to edit just and thus are not reliable. For what makes a reliable source, look at WP:SOURCES. I did research, but that means I didn't look at 100% of the internet. Bgwhite (talk) 21:19, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the help. I'm working on it. Also, the notability guidlines are pretty lenient when you read them over. It is still a work in progress.Paradise coyote (talk) 21:58, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

License tagging for File:KDoswellPublicity.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:KDoswellPublicity.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:05, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Sbianca.jpeg.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Sbianca.jpeg.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 05:58, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Kellylee Evans[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Kellylee Evans has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Orphaned non-free media (File:Folkways cablecar.JPG)[edit]

Ambox warning blue.svg Thanks for uploading File:Folkways cablecar.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:00, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:NORMAN'SKIT.pdf[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:NORMAN'SKIT.pdf. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:00, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Canadian jazz vocalist Kellylee Evans.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Canadian jazz vocalist Kellylee Evans.jpg, which you've sourced to Kellylee Evans, (used with her permission.). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. LightGreenApple talk to me 19:34, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Could you please tell me where I can check to see if the photographer has sent permissions yet? Thanks, Paradise coyote (talk) 21:13, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Update[edit]

I have just received and processed the permission to use this on Wikipedia. I do not believe this permission is sufficient for us to retain the image and have asked the photographer to release the image under a usable license. We do sometimes host images that are non-free, noting that we have permission for Wikipedia, but the images must meet the criteria at WP:NFC with a valid fair use rationale demonstrating how the image meets the non-free guideline. Generally, we do not accept non-free images of living people, per WP:NFC#UUI. I hope that the copyright holder will be willing to release the image under a usable license; otherwise, it will be necessary to submit the image to see if it would meet the requirement of WP:NFC. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:54, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of DemExit[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on DemExit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Jergling (talk) 21:51, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Nomination of DemExit for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article DemExit is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/DemExit until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Drmies (talk) 02:45, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
