Response re my edits re Orthodoxy in the Philippines[edit]

Hi Pare Mo,

Thanks for the note on my talk page. I'm not specifically interested in the subject of Orthodoxy in the Philippines, I just happened to look at Demographics of the Philippines#Religion, and tried to check out that cite. Besides not seeing the 560 number (you've explained that — 520 + 40), it struck me that an article hosted on the personal faculty page of a Greek professor in the Computer Science department of a Hong Kong university is a strange source to cite in support about religious demographics of the Philippines. The info in the article may be true, but it is certainly not coming from a mainstream source. Also, the page says that the article is "Provided By" Rev. Philemon Castro &mdash — which may or may not imply that the article was written by him. Digging around a bit, though, I found similar numbers here. While looking around for info, I stumbled across an Wrthodox wiki which has on it an article titled Philemon (Castro) and an article titled Orthodoxy in the Philippines. That last last-mantioned article doesn't give any numbers, but it does say

Also, there's some interesting info here.

Personally, I don't know about any of this, and I currently have no plans to pursue it further. -- Boracay Bill 05:29, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Ethnic group naming[edit]

Hi --- I reverted your speedy deletion request on Japanese Filipino because this is a rather controversial issue. Currently there's no standard in Wikipedia as to what these articles about diaspora populations should be called, and one is unlikely to emerge (except in the restricted context of Wikipedia category naming conventions). There's at least six different competing naming schemes. For example, if you are considering the population of people whose ancestors immigrated to Barland from Fooland, there's

  1. "American ordering": Foolandian Barlandian (with or without hyphen)
  2. "British ordering": Barlandian Foolandian (with or without hyphen)
  3. Foolandians in/of Barland
  4. Ethnic Foolandians in/of Barland
  5. Barlandians of Foolandian descent
  6. Foolandian diaspora in Barland

The worst part of course is numbers 1 and 2, since no one can tell whether you're talking about Foolandians who went to Barland or Barlandians who went to Fooland; this gets to be a major problem when historical migration went in both directions. The current situation with all these dab pages sorta arose out of the confusion between Ethnic Chinese in Korea and Ethnic Koreans in China, both of whom get referred to as "Chinese Koreans" and "Korean Chinese" in academic literature. Anyway, suffice it to say, with all your recent page moves, you've stepped into the middle of a never-ending conflict. =) Cheers, cab 11:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Spanish Filipino deletion tagging[edit]

I don't understand what you wanted done at Spanish Filipino. What article did you want to move there? --- RockMFR 21:58, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

There is some history under this redirect, and it has been moved back and forth a few times (cut and paste moves), so it would be best to list this on Wikipedia:Requested moves. Thanks. --- RockMFR 23:28, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

American Filipinos[edit]

I was not able to verify that American Filipino is widely used in the Philippines, or even other places around the world. Have you? That's why, at the moment, it's best that it shouldn't have its own article, as per WP:NEO. --Chris S. 05:14, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Orthodoxy in the Philippines[edit]

Hello, I was wondering if in the future you would consider removing references made by or to orthodox.org.ph and anything relating to an Orthodox Study Centre in Manila. The reason is that both the group and the website are not apart of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and New Zealand and are therefore uncanonical and unofficial. The official website approved by the Antiochian Primate of Australia is www.geocities.com/orthodoxyphilippines. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paolos1 (talkcontribs) 12:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Antiochian Filipinos[edit]

Thank you for your help. I have reworked the Orthodox wikipedia page on the section about Orthodoxy in the Philippines to reflect the accurate positions of the Antiochia primate of Australia. Speedy deletion nomination of Mang Tomas[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

A tag has been placed on Mang Tomas requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hoax articles on ceb.wiki[edit]

Hi Pare Mo! Just a heads up regarding the recent vandalism activity in ceb.wiki. There is an anon editor there that keeps on creating hoax articles there relating to Philippine television, more specifically, about Raven Broadcasting Corporation, Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Us Girls (Philippine TV program). He is insisting that Raven Broadcasting has a AM radio network, he also keeps on renaming Studio 23 as BBC and making the "Us Girls" article look like it first aired in 1975.

I tried to removed most of the edits by this fanboy but since he is using a dynamic IP address, he just dodges every warning I gave to him. I have also escalated this to Jordz last month and so far he have not taken action yet.

Hoping for ceb.wiki to take action to this recent activities. Thanks. -danngarcia (talk) 07:16, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Air Commanders of World War I[edit]

Thanks for your contributions at Air Commanders of World War I. Are you sure that Pier Ruggero Piccio commanded the Italian Air Corps or at least a large Italian combat air formation during World War I? The article on Piccio indicates that he did not achieve high command until 1923 when he was appointed Commanding General of Regia Aeronautica.Greenshed (talk) 23:50, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:21, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Paul Dumol[edit]

I noticed you added the that Paul Dumol was a member of Opus back in November (here's the link to the edit). I had later added Template:Opus Dei based on your claim but your claim was not sourced so someone removed it. Do you have a source for your information? Thanks. >> M.P.Schneider,LC (parlemusfeci) 14:31, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

July 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Rajahnate of Cebu may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
