Yacht Delivery

I think I posted this to the wrong Talk page: I have put in 'citation needed for problems you mentioned. For the link Charter market there is a new Wiki page with this title that is also being questioned for verification. If it is cleared it would be a fine link for Charter market.

The other two, 54-foot FLYING COLORS and 92-foot yacht ESSENCE I also put verification needed templates. If these cannot be supplied they can be removed without affecting the main article.

Ossito (talk) 15:00, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Change that. The two articles about ships are not necessary. I will delete the links and the mention of the two ships.

Ossito (talk) 15:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for explaining those football terms! I had misunderstood something. -moritheilTalk 13:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Deleting of a newly created page

Please delete the newly created article "Budapest Vikings". I didn't know about the rules about creating pages that were of no significance. My bad. Haakonss (talk) 19:42, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

The article will be deleted soon. No need to worry. Passportguy (talk) 19:43, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Tagging for speedy deletion

Hi Passportguy. Thank you for your work on patrolling pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I just wanted to inform you that I declined to delete Project Kaiser, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion under criterion A7 because of the following concern: A7 cannot be applied to software or other products. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion and especially what is considered Non-criteria. In future you should rather tag such pages for proposed deletion or start an appropriate deletion discussion. Regards SoWhy 10:58, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

If you don't like DB-Corp, you could consider DB-Advert the way the article is written. Passportguy (talk) 11:15, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, but G11 is for articles that cannot be cut down to non-spam stubs, not for those who use POV language but still convey valid information. This article does not meet those requirements and thus db-advert would be incorrect as well. Regards SoWhy 11:28, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Warning S.F. speedy deletion

I don't understand why you requested the page of Warning S.F. to be deleted. There are multiple pages on Wikipedia noting Warning S.F., they released an album a while ago and signed a 3 album deal. How is that not notable? It's not like they are nobodies. No, they are signed and they're touring. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Virus of Profanity (talkcontribs) 11:29, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

The article did not state why there were notable, nor if they had and records published by a major record label. Thus the article was deleted. If you can explain why this band is notable, i.e. famous - meaning they have been the subject of newspaper articles, have won awards and the like - you can re-add the article. Passportguy (talk) 11:34, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
They released an album on an indie label and that was stated in the article. There are 9.160 articles found on Google about the band, including rock hard (a big magazine in Germany), amazon etc. I seriously don't know how to incorporate that into the article, but they are notable because they're known in the thrash metal genre, including their music being part of the DVD Get Thrashed (http://www.getthrashed.com/). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Virus of Profanity (talkcontribs) 11:54, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Again - if you can provdie this information in the article and cite sources, then you may re-add the article. However be sure that they really are notable - just haveing produced a home-made CD does not constitute sufficient notability Passportguy (talk) 11:57, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Listen, my english isn't good enough to provide all this information. I'm sure they are notable though. It would have been nice if the article would have been left open for others to help improve the article. Virus of Profanity (talk) 12:18, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry about your English. If you make minor mistakes, that will be corected by other editors. Passportguy (talk) 12:24, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Luke 'Ming' Flanagan

What is the issue? Tzq99 (talk) 14:34, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

The issues are :

1) The article does not quote any sources. The links given do not work.
2) The person in question is not notable, as he was never elected to any office and was never considered a serious candidate. 3) The article does not show that he recieved widespread coverage in the media.

Hey Passportguy... could you please NOT delete the Bumper Frizbee Horseshoes page? theres a following for this sport in South Western Ontario and its growing. videos are coming online soon. its been around for a few years and i know where you're coming from. please send any comments to hook me up because i am determined to one day have all the info and history about this that will be going along with my business and marketing efforts. every game starts off somewhere. what will it take for me to be able to leave this on here once it starts gaining popularity? this summer is going to be big for the sport and i hope, one day, a sport i invented won't have problems being on here. any tips or advice you can give me toward this? thanks. If and when the game becomes well known, you can re-add the article. As long as this is just a game you and your friends play, it unfortunately does not belong here. Passportguy (talk) 19:28, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Quinigua article

It is a real language. Check the Language isolate article. Webster6Yo, So 19:15, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Feel free to remove the prod, but do try and find a reference you can add to the article. Passportguy (talk) 19:16, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

In all my time doing newpages patrolling and later CAT:CSD patrol, this is only the second time I've ever checked out a copyvio tagged under G12 and found that the copied-from page is actually GFDL-released, but it has to happen once in a while and this is it.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:57, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Nevermind. Still a copyvio. The site you posted claimed to have GFDL release but they had copied it from us before it was previously deleted, and when it was posted here it was a copyvio from this site.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:21, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

I think your bot got it wrong! Can I remove the tag - no copyright, very old. Wikidea 10:35, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

If you copy a text from an old book available online, you must provide a link to where it states that the text no longer falls under copyright. Passportguy (talk) 10:37, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
It wasn't copied from that website; I'd never seen it. There are probably lots of copies of the report: you see the citation for the legal report in the first sentence there. Please remove the tag. Wikidea 11:05, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
If you copy text or quote it, you should WP:CITE where you got it every time to avoid copyright infringement tags. Once you provide the references, I will remove the tag. Passportguy (talk) 11:09, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
As I say, the report is the reference, which is already there: (1876) 1 QBD 410: this means in a library, you find the Queen's Bench Division report from 1876, first volume and turn to page 410. Wikidea 11:11, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Read WP:CITE - You wil find that you should cite every text seperately, not just provide a summary source at the top of the page. Passportguy (talk) 11:12, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I've come across that once or twice before in my five years and 10,000 edits. I think it probably needs to be changed for legal case articles, because there's really no reason to repeat the same thing twice. But for you I will. Wikidea 11:16, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Also, keep in mind that the page you found was itself using material not under copyright. You can't infringe the copyright of something not in copyright, can you! Wikidea 11:21, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
No. But in order to verify that, you must still quote your sources. Otherwise the text will be deemed unsourced and deleted. Passportguy (talk) 11:23, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

I dont understand whats the probelm`? Unluckyly y dont speak english good to understand! But i will transalte the article of Stade sfaxien in English now so the criteria is ok i think! Thanks vernito —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vernito (talk • contribs) 10:48, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

The problem is that your copied an article from the French Wikipedia without translating it. Since that does not server any purpose - after all people can still view the page on the fr.wikipedia page - it only uses webspace and will unfortunately be deleted. Passportguy (talk) 10:51, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I translated the article into English so that it may stay. In future please try and add only English language aticles. Passportguy (talk) 10:56, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Please read WP:MADEUP for more information why the article is going to be deleted. Passportguy (talk) 19:03, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, I think I get it now. Neologism. I thought it would be ok since 31,000+ people know about it but I guess that still doesn't count as being a large enough proportion. AussieJoeyFan (talk) 19:12, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Opostal Future

Hi Passportguy. First off, thanks for your work patrolling the new pages, I often see you 'round :). Just a friendly note about a page you recently tagged for speedy. The page (Opostal Future) shouldn't have been deleted under the criteria for speedy deletion that you used, which was G1, because G1 only applies to pages which are complete giberish (this doesn't include vandalism, see WP:CSD#G1). A more appropriate tag may have been G3. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 19:31, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

I ccan't remember the page exactly, but as I remember it was "blatently incoherent nonsense", along this lines of something like "the great big blue elephant has a yellow trunk and is a big as a mouse" 21:48, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this. But G1 only applies to pages which are gibberish, gibberish in this case meaning something like "jbgfngfdhksd" rather then "gras is blueeee". Read WP:CSD#G1 for more information (esp. the list of things it doesn't include). Thanks - Kingpin13 (talk) 11:06, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi again. I think I've discussed this before and under Wikipedia:Patent_nonsense "Content that, while apparently meaningful after a fashion, is so completely and irredeemably confused that no reasonable person can be expected to make any sense of it whatsoever." is included as patent nonsense. Passportguy (talk) 11:10, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but just because something is WP:patent nonsense doesn't necessarily mean it meets WP:CSD#G1, which just causes a lot of confusion, but that's how G1 currently is - Kingpin13 (talk) 11:18, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

OPROP!

This pamplet is of great importance in the Danish history. Maybe you should consult some history books before suggesting deletion!

Maybe you should read Wikipedia guidelines first ! In order for an article to stay, it must 1) be sourced and 2) must state in the article why a particular subject is notable. If you can add reliable sources that state why this particular pamphlet was notable, then I have no objection to the article. Passportguy (talk) 08:43, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Both sources and notability are added more explicit now.

Romanian EU Passport

I see new updates. Bahamas and St Kitts and Nevis. I have changed the source link to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas which says the exactly the same thing as the last Visa Airline source.

Here's the source I replaced. [1]. I have found the source for St Kitts and Nevis with Romanian EU Passports, Bulgarian and other EU Passports not requiring a Visa. This source only lists the countries that require a Visa such as Russia, Somalia. Here is the source: [2]. I will place the source next to St Kitts and Nevis. Pryde 01 (talk) 02:31, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

VOA for Comores / Gambia

Yes I believe it should be listed as VOA since the have issued temporary VOA and because its a conversion but not a revoke and remove process the EU Traveller still has the right to stay in those two countries as the length requires as long as they convert their Visa as soon as arrival. So yes I say that they should be added as VOA. There is no interrupted or consequential process that will involve in the traveller leaving and applying before coming to the Comores and Gambia, the traveller is experiencing a short continued transition to allow the traveller to stay their with a price on arrival. If you do decide to add these two countries can you also place it on the map as well and also provide the source? Thanks

So do you want to add Gambia? I support itPryde 01 (talk) 10:40, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm a bit hesitant to do so for the following reasons :
1) These types of VOA tend to be very instable and often get abolished at short notice.
2) This type isn't really comparable in terms of travel-freedom to the "normal", full VOA that other countries issue, as you have to visit another office in town to get your visa finalized.
However it indeed is an entry permit that requires no advance planning/paperwork and you could argue that other countries require registration at police also,, so I guess we can add it, although I think we should add an explanatory note. So the entry would look something like this :
Comoros A free 24 h transit visa issued upon arrival at the airport. Within 24 hours this must be converted into a full visa at the immigration office in Moroni
(fee payable) [3]
Gambia At port of entry passport 24-72 h transit pass is issued. This must be converted into a full visa valid up to 1 month at the immigration department in Banjul (fee payable) [4]

Passportguy (talk) 10:54, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes I accept that proposal. Lets add those explanations, we already have the Comoros listed and now which will include the explanation as proposed above by you. Then we shall add Gambia as a country and also along with the next explanation as described above.Pryde 01 (talk) 11:03, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

You can add them to the Romania and Bulgaraia pages, and I'll add them to the other passport pages as I update them. Passportguy (talk) 11:15, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Both only edited on article, within seconds of each other and the original (usernamed) author never edited the article again after it was blanked. Passportguy (talk) 10:13, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
OK well that could be the same author, or it could be that the author gave up on Wikipedia after his article simply disappeared. ϢereSpielChequers 11:00, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Australia eVisitor

We should colour Australia has light green because light blue does not properly distinguish between VOA, Visa Free or Visa Required. We should replicate the Polish map [[5]]

We should also note eVisitor on the colour identification coding so in this instance the colour code for Australia shall be light green. Other examples show where each colour represents VOA, Visa Free etc.Pryde 01 (talk) 11:10, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Biometric EU Passport Romania and Bulgaria

When a picture for a Romanian EU Biometric Passport comes to show we should place this picture in the image place holder. The Romanian EU Biometric Passport has been released as of the 31st December 2008 and also all EU Biometric Romanian Passports are required be issued when all Passport Offices are equipped to release them on the 30th June 2009. As regards for Bulgaria we shall have to wait for the Bulgarian side to release their EU Biometric Bulgarian Passport. But when a picture for the Bulgarian EU Biometric Passport shows up we should place that in the image place holder as we need to have all EU Passports showing Biometrics in the European passport sectionPryde 01 (talk) 11:52, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Values in Action

Hi Passportguy: I posted Values in Action Institute before fully understanding how wiki works. Sorry. I've done a few hours' research now, and am still unclear: Despite my clear COI as the nonprofit, scientific institute's editor, VIA's actually a pretty big deal in the world of Positive Psychology, and there are many wiki pages on people in that field - Christopher Peterson, Martin E.P. Generally speaking you should not add articles about companies or organizations for which you yourself work. If your company is notable, then others will notice it and add an article. Passportguy (talk) 17:01, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Tip

Usually when I come across a well-written new article that appears to be OR or a cut and paste job, I just take a sentence from it and feed that to Google. Blatant copy-vios like Physics of string instruments was will then be identified immediately. Yintaɳ  10:38, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I usually do that. Howver the same author had previously written a similar article himself, so I assumed at first this one was OR as well. Passportguy (talk) 10:52, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, his first article came from the same site he copied his second article from ;-) Yintaɳ  11:22, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Krgyzstan

Its not only Romania and Bulgaria its basically the EU12. Even Poland or Estonia dont have that right to VOA. Its all the EU10 excluding Malta and Cyprus that dont have that right. Hungary only gets VOA only on a Diplomatic or Service Passport not Ordinary Passport. Only the EU15 and the United States, New Zealand, Canada and some other non EU States only get that right to VOA.I checked using the Google Translation System. Krgyzstan was never on any of the EU12 Passports anyway as I looked through just now.Pryde 01 (talk) 10:45, 12 May 2009 (UTC

the strange thing is that tehy didn't add those countries that previously didn't require visas at all (i.e. Poland, Czech rep. Slovakia etc.) to the VOA list. It seems strange not to require a visa one day and then note even offer VOA facilities, when those are offered to other nationals. Passportguy (talk) 10:51, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

If you remember we did remove Kyrgyzstan off the VOA for a lot of the EU Passports and other non EU Passports, the notice of cancellation of VOA was announced on one of the EU 12 Embassies. We just did not remove it off the EU15 and other Passports because they are entitled to VOA. Simply put it those EU States or countries that are not listed as VOA on the Kyrgyzstan Foreign Ministry Webpage are not entitled to VOA even if they were entitled too before. It just happens that strange as it may seem those EU States or countries have lost that right. It is grossly unfair and a poor way of a proper functioning of a Diplomatic System in Kyrgyzstan but that's the way it is.Pryde 01 (talk) 11:14, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

You are absolutely right, we removed them. I'm not saying that Kyrgyzstan should be re-added, I was just making an observation that the new policy seems bizarre. Passportguy (talk) 11:16, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

If a country wants to establish and to adopt well functioning Diplomacy models it must be able to at least prove itself in being consistent in Krgyzstan's Diplomatic needs and to be able to provide the important service of a Diplomatic Function such as the FM to be able to provide the needs for the countries citizens and economy that affects those citizens. Unfortunately this is not the case as a couple of problems have arisen such as:

1) The failure to be able to clearly communicate with the EU Embassies of the EU States about Krgyzstan's decisive action to commit to a u-turn VOA Agreement with some EU States. 2) As I have stated above the foundering of Krygzstan to be inconsistent in its Visa Regime with the whole of the EU. This creates unnecessary ire within the affected EU States that could have been avoided if Krygzstan was to treat the EU as a whole and on the same level as other non EU States and the EU15.Pryde 01 (talk) 11:41, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Australia eVisitor

With the description you have put for Australia on the map with the colour code green, I think it would be better if instead we say "Pre Travel Internet Registration Required" Can we just put eVisitor. Because some people may believe that Australia is not supposed to be included on the map given the description that was written out. If we were to write eVisitor it would be much clearer to others as they would know that eVisitor is a service dedicated to EU Passports only and not have any suspicions otherwisePryde 01 (talk) 06:23, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

the problem is that for the new US VWP an internet registratrion is also required, so I wanted to include both of them in one category as the two processes are similar and both are free of charge. But if you have a better wording including both schemes, I'd be happy to hear it. Passportguy (talk) 12:11, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Re:Vince Verhei

I am unsure what the current procedure is with regards to this article. I have however looked and have noticed that the article has been deleted before through "AfD". I was unaware of this before attempting to create it. While it is unfortunate, I guess if it has been voted for deletion before, then perhaps it is not notable enough :-( However the "Speedy" part does not appear to have caught anyone else's attention? ImaginaryColemanFan (talk) 12:31, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

The article was deletd twice before through an AfD discussion. That is a clear sign that editors here do not believe that he is notable enough to be included here. Therefore you should't really be re-creating articles for him. Passportguy (talk) 12:37, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Ausama Monajed

It is an article about a significant activist and member of the Syrian political opposition (an area with little coverage on Wikipedia). The article is currently being expanded to include further information (not just "that he attended a general UN meeting").

Baradatv (talk) 13:42, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

in order to be notable a person must have recieved widespread media attention or be an elected member of parliament or similar. Even the Movement for Justice and Development only barely passes this mark and I see no inidcation that Mr. Monajed is notable beyond that as a person. Passportguy (talk) 13:49, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

RE:Speedy deletion nomination of John Ng

Hi can you tell me why --before I can even work on a page 5 min, or even save it for the first time. The john Ng page was nominated for speedy deletion? --Duchamps_comb MFA 16:57, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Because nothing in the page suggested that the subject is notable. When creating new pages, especially pages on people, bands and companies always include info on why the person/company/club/band is notable when creating an article. If you feel you cannot do this at the present time, create the article in a WP:Sandbox first an add it to the mainspace when finished. Passportguy (talk) 17:05, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Did you even read the article? Or did you see a blank page?--Duchamps_comb MFA 17:36, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes I did read the article. And nothing there convinced me that this person is particularly notable. Btw : As a general rule, you should not create articles on youself or other people closely connected with you. See WP:COI for details. Passportguy (talk) 17:42, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Philippine nationals and entry to Tajikistan

Hi! Could you please cite your source regarding sponsorship and the Tajikistan visa? Because TimaticWeb does not mention that at all. If you don't have a source for it, then I would revert it back to reflect the information in TimaticWeb. Cheers. Elektrik Blue (talk) 12:40, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Timatic is outdated on this - as it often is. There has been a recent change in regulations for Tajik visas. While it is still possible to have them stamped into your passport at Dushanbe airport, you now require a letter of invitation by the ministry of foreign affairs stating that they will issued you a visa - which is in effect already a pre-issued visa. You can compare the note that the US state department has put up for US travellers (also previously elligible for VOA) at [10] Passportguy (talk) 12:42, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
You can also see the Tajik MFA at http://www.mid.tj/index.php?node=article&id=455, which states "Notes: Please, be informed that for processing of visa ... in the airport of Dushanbe for the period which is less than 45 days foreign citizens should submit filled visa support or visa application (2 copies), 2 photos and invitation. If foreign citizen fail to submit above mentioned documents, visa processing and issuance will not be produced and these persons will be deported from the Republic of Tajikistan." Hi

Hi I believe I have been wrongly black marked for making spam edits, which I have not -

- but I did prematurely save something meaning to go back to it straight away. Please remove the last two strikes, as they are inappropriate I think.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks

Please see the reply on your talk page. Passportguy (talk) 11:15, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Passport guy -

I don;t think that is a fair summary - I've done loads of edits and contributed loads of material and only a few "ticking off" which I have taken on board I feel.

My last two ticks off were because I saved something whilst I went to get a better reference, and blow me, in a few seconds I got a ticking off.

But the content I would have put up would have been good I believe.

I agree I have been a bit sloppy but certainly have attempted to follow wiki guidelines......must try hard in future though...

About 99.5% at a guess of the articles I have started are still there......

The one you picked up on, unintended consequences, I will get round to do doing - as I feel the original article is not of a very good standard.....I'd saved it blank whilst i went to get a copy of the other list to modify it......and in a few seconds had a ticking off.....

Passportguy

"[edit] Your edits You are apparently creating articles that contain personal opinions and other inappropriate content. Such articles should not be created, as you have been repeatedly told. If you persist in creating such articles, you will have to live with the fact that other editors continue to tag them for deletion. Passportguy (talk) 11:14, 20 May 2009 (UTC)"

I do not think the above is a fair summary "personal opinions and other inappropriate content" - cosidering the amount of edits I have contributed, backed up by good references.

These notices are intended to inform you that articles are up for deletion, so that you may idealy improve on them. If you don't intend to upload opinionated articles in the future, you don't have to worry about these warnings too much.
Btw : You should not save drafts in the mainspace, as they will get deleted there. You should save them ina sanfbox instead. I have created a sandbox for you at User:Engineman/Sandbox which you can use to intermittendly save your drafts without them being tagged for deletion. Once you finish the article you can then create it in the mainspace of Wikipedia. Passportguy (talk) 11:52, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
The warning was intended to advise you to stop creating yout "unintended consequences" articles, which you re-created repeatedly even after it had been deleted by administrators. It is only a level 2 warning, so it should not be too much of a concern for you, if you do not intend to creat such articles ahain in the future Passportguy (talk) 11:56, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Please look at possible graffiti

Dear Sir, I tip my hat to your occasional role as Wiki traffic cop. The Ng page has been made notable by Obama's relatives. You'll see a name Deep Ng, and when you go to the discussions on that Deep page, you'll see reasons put forward to delete that. Please investigate, and oh btw, that John Ng guy also kept popping up. --Kgwu24 (talk) 16:51, 20 May 2009 (UTC)Kgwu24

The problem with the article is that is does not state sources for biographical facts on a living person. The only way to prevent the addition of potentially libelous facts - for which Wikipedia can - and has been sued in the past - is to force editors to source any facts they add to articles, especially potentially contentious ones. As Deep Ng seems to be quite famous, adding references to reliable online news sources shouldn't be too much of a problem. If you need directions on how to add references, please consult WP:REF or contact me again. Passportguy (talk) 16:59, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for response. I probably did not make it clear, Deep Ng's notability is way overblown, see the discussion page for him. On the other hilarious matter, the minute you deleted John Ng, he put it back in. Wonder if WP has any control over such cat-and-mouse game, which, while humorous, perpectuates until one of you give up.--Kgwu24 (talk) 18:58, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Kgwu24
Unfortunatly there are many people who try and use wWikipedia to promote either themselves, their companies or people closely related to them; I would say that of the articles I nominate for speedy deletion, 60-70 % fall into this category.
I removed the name from the Ng list again and warned the user who keeps putting it back up. If he persists, he will likely be barred from editing eventually.
On Deep Ng : If you feel that this person is not notable enough, you may propose that the article be deleted. WP:AfD explains how this is done. If you need any help on how to start and Article-for-deletion discussion, feel free to contact me again. Passportguy (talk) 19:31, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

www.wonderlilly.scriptmania.com

passportguy? the page, www.wonderlilly.scriptmania.com should not get deleted because, yes it is a copy and paste, but, www.wonderlilly.scriptmania.com is my website. and i wanted to put that page on, it is okay that i did that because well, it is my website, right?

Three points :
  • 1) As a agernal rule, you shoul not create article on yourself or companies/webistes you rule. See WP:COI
  • 2) If you own copyright to the text, then you need to submitt proof of this to Wikipedia.
  • 3) In order to have an article here, your website must be notable. See WP:WEB on what kind of websites are considered notable. Passportguy (talk) 23:35, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

There you go - you are editing with two different iser names at the same time ! And the message on your other user account was to warn you that the article you created is going to be deleted soon. If you get these messages so often that they have started to annoy you, I suggest you read Wikipedias guidelines on article creation very carefully before creating any more article, as otherwise you will continue to get messages like this one and eventually may get banned from editing altogether. My main concern is that come 6 months no one will be talking about this person or his videos and the internet community has moved on. Re:List of fictional narcissists

Perhaps you're right, it is quite POV but such articles are bound to be and fulfill a purpose in enlightening a general audience. I wasn't actually the person who wrote the list, it was an IP on the Narcissism article. I moved the list to an article of its own to prevent potential cluttering. All the same, most of the entries seem relatively appropriate to me. I don't consider the inclusion of Napoleon from Animal Farm particularly controversial. Napoleon is a megalomaniac dictator who is consumed with selfishness and driven by an arrogant lust for power. He makes all the animals sing his praises and encourages them to write poems in his honour. I seem to remember at one point he orders them to construct a huge statue of him. Egomaniacal indeed. Nevertheless I thank you for your counsel. I'm sure we can come to a positive resolution on the matter. --Dominus Noster (talk) 13:37, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I hadn't looked carefully enough and originally thought that Napoleon Bonaparte was included.
The problem with these lists is that they tend to grow out of proportion with people adding characters to it that they personally don't like. Since there is no scientific standard for determining narcissism, there is no objective/neutral way to populate the list. Passportguy (talk) 13:40, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Altered Speedy Deletion rationale: Chiranth's magic show

Hello Passportguy, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (Chiranth's magic show) under a different criteria, because the one you provided was inappropriate or incorrect. CSD criteria are narrow and specific, and the process is more effective if the correct deletion rationale is supplied. Consider reviewing the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any queries, please let me know. Thanks again! Ale_Jrbtalk 13:55, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately I no longer remember exactly hat my original tag was. But as I seem to remember, I tagged it as a NN group of people (a birthday party group), which I don't think was inapropriate. However I don't have any objection to you deleteing it under any other label if you personally think those are more approriate in this case. Passportguy (talk) 13:59, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

North Cyprus - EU Customs Union article

You are right in suggesting deleting North Cyprus - EU Customs Union article. I just tried to reference the Green Line regulations etc. Perhaps, a better name can be found for the article. CeterisParibus xcs (talk) 21:07, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

The main problem with the article is that this customs union will likely never come about, nor is it even planned.
Either there is going to be a unification, in which case the territory of the TRNC will be part of the EU customs area
Or there won't be a settlement in which case the Greek side would veto any such plans for the forseeable future.
Perhaps you can add the information on Green line crossings to Green Line (Cyprus) as appropiate. Passportguy (talk) 21:10, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Ignoring the article author thinking you have a vendetta, I did some searches of my own and came back a bit surprised. This fellow may actually pass notability under several of the inclusion criterias of WP:PEOPLE, even if his personal modesty makes it tough for him to pass the preliminary WP:GNG. I have opined such at the AfD and tagged the article asking for help from experts in the field. I believe because of its potential, the article and wiki would greatly benefit from expansion and proper sourcing. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 21:46, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

The problem with this article - and many that get posted - is that they aren't sourced. With nothing on google this is very unlikely ever to get sourced. If it does and those source show notablity, I have no objection to the article. However from my discussions with the author so far I gather that he assumes that just because this person is a student of a notable other person, he is notable as well. In order to keep vanity here in check, we really need to insist on sources establishing notablity. The off-chance that someone may be notable is not enough to keep an article, as defined in WP:V. On 25th May 2009 the EU has for the final time approved the EU Blue Card Programme and therefore this means that the EU Blue Card has been adopted and will be implemented within 2 years by all EU States.

Here is the source [11]

I think we should create an article regarding this very important step forward for the EU to creating a unified EU Immigration System for third countries. However the EU lags considerably behind other Immigration Countries such as Australia at 9.9% of Skilled Migrants population. I hope that this will be reversed in the EU's favour in the years to come. Another option if you decide not to do that we should at least note this on some important source. Proposed deletion of The Earth After Us

Yes, we will try to improve this article and reach upon a consensus in the given time frame. However, you need not associate this article with the company page. We had arrived upon a consensus on that after intense debate and I think the collective wisdom ought to be respected.

Well I don't necessarily agree with you and I don't see evidence that any major discussion has taken place as you claimed when you said that "We had arrived upon a consensus on that after intense debate" Passportguy (talk) 23:26, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I respect your opinion. But I hope you have been through the AfD debate and the Appeal against decision of the AfD debate, that followed immediately thereafter. Raj Kumar Machhan (talk) 23:32, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I cannot find any trace of an AfD debate ever having existed for an article named Saket Agarwal ! Passportguy (talk) 23:34, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I think he means the AfD on Cellebrum Technologies Limited which he created, and the subsequent Deletion Review on that AfD. --Patar knight - chat/contributions 00:34, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for finding that. Judging by what that AfD said about the company, I am pretty certain that the person is seven less notable. Passportguy (talk) 00:37, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

SaketAgarwal ‎ redirect

Please reconsider the R3 tag on the SaketAgarwal page. Leaving out a space isn't an implausible typo. If necessary, the administrator who deletes the article Saket Agarwal article after its PROD/AFD will check the backlinks, and delete the redirect as well. Thanks, --Patar knight - chat/contributions 22:25, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Redirects which include spelling typos are considered implausible, as no person would puposefully type this into the search box. Other examples would include "Saket Agarwal-", "ASaket Agarwal" If we included every possible imporobable spacing, then millions of new redirects would have to be created. Passportguy (talk) 22:27, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, the R3 criterion says that it only applies to newly created redirects which are implausible typos or misnomers. It also goes on to say that redirects from common misspellings or misnomers are useful. Sure, a person may not purposefully type this into the search box, but missing a space between the first and last names of somebody's name is a pretty common typo, and isn't implausible. --Patar knight - chat/contributions 22:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I understand where you are coming from, but the way I read this is that Charles Dicken would be permissable, Sharles Dickens, CHARles DIcKens, CharlesDickens etc would not. Passportguy (talk) 22:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for removing the db tag. Redirects are cheap. :D --Patar knight - chat/contributions 00:29, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

You should have looked at the ref for this - its official name is The Green Bowl. Note also The Table and other BC placenames of this kind. If you're an admin and can change it back, please do so to conform with the reference/legal usage.Skookum1 (talk) 01:43, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

I realised that and have already moved the page back. Passportguy (talk) 01:43, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Passportguy. Just to let you know, I declined the speedy here because multiple sources were cited. Also, I am not convinced that the band's article merited a deletion. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 05:24, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Why are you moving "Claudio Gay" to "Claude Gay"?

The only times I have come across his name in English books has been as "Claudio". Jason Quinn (talk) 16:50, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Check the interwiki. All other languages except Spanish have him at Claude and since that is his birth name (he's French) it seems more appropriate to have him listed as such. Passportguy (talk) 16:51, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Yep. It's probably his true French name too. Agree.

It was not a matter of notability. there was no content in the article other then the rephrasing of the name. I`m sure you know better so I`ll leave it up to you--Rmzadeh (talk) 18:30, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

I believe the author of the page is new to editing here. I left him a note on his talk page saying that he should include more info/context, so I hope that in future he will create more substantive articles. Passportguy (talk) 18:32, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Does my page really a candidate for speedy deletion, I have made the article to honor their commitment to serve the youth of our state on offering free acting workshops. Josephpablo (talk) 00:01, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately yes. School groups are not sufficiently notable to be included here. if we made an exception for thsi one, soon everysone would want to have their own personal Wikipedia page. If you are a member of this group the content can be copied to your userpage at User:Josephpablo. If so, please leave a message here soon, before the article gets deleted. Passportguy (talk) 00:03, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I will follow your advice, thank you very much!!! I will copy it immediately to my userpage.. Josephpablo (talk) 00:07, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I have moved it there already. So you should be able to see it now. Passportguy (talk) 00:09, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: US passport map

Interesting, but that seems to make the legend incorrect, as we are no longer talking about visa and visa-free, we're talking about an originally researched arbitrarily-assigned "level of bureaucracy associated with entry" map. Not that that can really be helped, governments nowadays delight in making life difficult for esoteric political reasons. Perhaps a slight rephrasing of the legend would be in order to solve the ETA problem? "Admitted on arrival; Requires on-arrival clearance; Requires pre-arrival clearance" or something along those lines? The problem there is, this legend would class both Australia and the US among the visa-required nations. Not being required to have a visa to first world nations is a mark of pride for some second and third world nations, and this could result in some idiotic edit warring. Hmm, how about "Admitted on arrival, Requires on-arrival clearance, Requires electronic pre-arrival clearance, Requires pre-arrival visa"? This would of course add a level of complexity, and I could still imagine nationalists complaining that it doesn't make it clear AUS/US require this of all visitors, not just their nationals. Bah, nationalism is irritating. +Hexagon1 (t) 00:47, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually the ETA is a visa and classed as such by Australian law. And since it isn't free for Americans I see no real reason to make special note of it on the map, as with the free eVisitor on the European passport pages. Since it is is an easier process than a normal visa, it should be listed in the visa-free list on the page, but I don't really see how the ease of the ETA is any different from the Turkish VOA for example, which doesn't have it's own category either.
But if you want to re-phrase the legegend feel free to do so. I would suggest :
  • 1) Pre-travel clearance required
  • 2) On-arrival immigration clearance (fee charged)
  • 3) On-arrival immigration clearance (no fee charged)
Naturally that doesn't differenciate for nationals that can get their visa on arrival for free (there are a few cases) but since this doesn't apply to Americans anywhere you could change that map in this manner. I have to say though I don't really see an advantage to the current visa-free/VOA/visa req. system. Passportguy (talk) 00:57, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Not to mention the problematic nature of visa-on-arrival in Africa and Asia, where visa-on-arrival is more like "Bribe the customs officer €20 at Mogadishu airport, but make sure he is the bloke in the purple uniform, not the fuchsia one, or you'll be shot". I don't think the Aussie government classes ETAs as visas, they seem to go out of their way to call them "[an] electronically stored authority for travel to Australia". And where would ESTA fall under your scheme, I have to say I have a problem with classing ETA as visa-required but the ESTA as visa-free travel, when de-facto a visa is required for both (no matter the semantics). +Hexagon1 (t) 01:03, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Naturally an encyclopedia can only mention official policy. E.g. Syrian visas can de facto be obtained by almost anyone at the border, however since official policy is to issue them only to citizens whose home countries don't have a Syrian embassy that is how it is listed here.
As for the the ETA, refer to http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/visa-options.htm Note that these are visa options, the ETA is a subclass of a visa. Passportguy (talk) 01:08, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
1) I was kidding. I was also referring to the difficulty in obtaining actual official policy from say, Somalia or the regional authority in Zanzibar, perhaps my use of the word "bribe" led you astray. 2) That's ridiculous, that's just a list of options for entry. I'd be extremely surprised if that was intended as official confirmation of the nature of ETAs, and unless you find something more concrete I'm afraid I won't see eye to eye with your ETAs-are-visas argument. +Hexagon1 (t) 01:18, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
PS: Though looking over it myself I see several other instances it is referred to as a visa, so yes, I tend to agree. I doubt your example would pass muster but the several other instances are more convincing. That brings me back to my other question, where would ESTA fall under your scheme, I have to say I have a problem with classing ETA as visa-required but the ESTA as visa-free travel, when de-facto a pre arrival authorisation (what I would tern a visa) is required for both (no matter the semantics). +Hexagon1 (t) 01:23, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm afraid I can't prove a negative to you, i.e. can't prove that it's not considered a non-visa, but if you look around the above page you will see that everywhere the ETA (and the eVisitor) are listed as visas, e.g. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/990i/tourist.htm where visa fees are listed. Australian visas are grouped into subclasses, e976 being the ETA, e651 the eVistor and e676 the regular paper/sticker visa. Passportguy (talk) 01:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Re the ESTA : the big difference, as i have stated is that it is free. But to address your concerns, if you look at various European passport pages you will notice that most of them have now been updated to show a seperate class for Australian/US entry. But obviously this doesn't appply to the US passport page, as US citizens (along with Canadians) they don't need a an ESTA Passportguy (talk) 01:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah, cool, that would seem to alleviate my concerns. Though the colour chosen is very similar to the VOA nations (cf Aus and Indo on the Dutch passport page) and we really need to standardise fonts and sizes for map legends. I don't see why this doesn't apply to the US, an introduction of such a category would affect the classification of Australia, but I'm not going to nitpick, the current solution seems adequate. +Hexagon1 (t) 01:33, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

New Iranian Visa Rules

Hi, If you go to the Iranian MFA website, you'll see a e-visa service on the left side there. The government made this available for certain foreigners (i.e. those who can get a VOA) to register online, get their reference code, and pick up their visa at the international airports of Iran. This has been done to eliminate the line ups and timewasting paperworks at the arrival hall of the airports.Majalinno (talk) 20:15, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure if it has become compulsory to register online, like Australia and the U.S., yet. Unfortunately, the Iranian embassy here in Ottawa won't open till Tuesday June.2, 2009. However, I've sent the consular section an email regarding this and will let you know ASAP.Majalinno (talk) 20:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks ! Passportguy (talk) 20:28, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Their MFA replied sooner than their embassy. Citizens of all countries should use the e-visa serivec to obtain their pre-approval code and pick up their visa on arrival. The exceptions are nationals of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Somalia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uzbekistan; they all still require to apply at the Iranian missions abroad.
So, Iran should be removed from the VOA list.Majalinno (talk) 02:43, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes. I have confirmed this with the MFA as well. So IATA is correct - I'll remove Iran from the lists. Passportguy (talk) 15:47, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Btw : Currently there is still a "grace period" in effect, which means that people can still de facto get their visa on arrival without the number. But since officially the regulations changed, we'll have to remove Iran nonetheless. Passportguy (talk) 15:48, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Passportguy! I reverted the vandalism and after that i saw that the article was lacking sources. So i googled it to find a source, but i find nothing so i tagged it for speedy. Highest Heights (talk) 18:18, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

See the reply on your talk page. I check a few sources and then AfD it. Passportguy (talk) 18:19, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok, so it exists. But is it notable? Highest Heights (talk) 18:27, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Highly questionable. But generally almost all officially designated places are included here. If you think this is below the notability standard, feel free to take it to AfD. Passportguy (talk) 18:28, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I think a village or city article at least must be searchable at google maps or Google Earth. But it isn't. Why don't merge into Brusio in that case? Highest Heights (talk) 18:30, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree. I checked my detailed map of Switzerland which has a lot of very small hamlets on it (e.g. Motta or Cavaione), but no trace of Garbela. So I'll change it into a redirect. Passportguy (talk) 18:34, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I see you already did. Passportguy (talk) 18:35, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes. Highest Heights (talk) 18:37, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Now, i have also redirected 3 simular pages. Highest Heights (talk) 18:43, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I reverted the redirect of Piazzo as my 1:200,000 map actually show that one, so it may be notable enough. Passportguy (talk) 18:47, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok, fine. Highest Heights (talk) 18:49, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Or to be honest i just want to afd most of them. Or maybe redirect. But towns with 5-10 inhabitants cannot be notable. Highest Heights (talk) 19:13, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes and no. I would say that officially designated hamlets may me notable, however if they only hav 5-10 inhabitants they are unlikely to be officially designated. Redirects are generally fine - or do you have any particular hamlets that you would want to AfD/redirect ? Passportguy (talk) 19:15, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, in that case i want to afd/redirect all except San Carlo, Miralago, Le Prese, Pedecosta, Poschiavo, Brusio, Campocologno, Somaino and Sfazu. But i am not so good in Switzerland geo so i cannot really give you a good answer. Highest Heights (talk) 19:19, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I think you lost me here. What does "all" comprise, i.e. which articles do you want to redirect ? Are you refering to a list somewhere ? Passportguy (talk)

category: Towns in Val Poschiavo. Highest Heights (talk) 19:21, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

still there? Highest Heights (talk) 19:28, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes. I'm just going through the list. Most of them are on my map, so far I couldn't find cadera, La Rasiga, Li Curt, Martin, Müreda & Pedecosta. I'll check up on those once I finish going through the list. Passportguy (talk) 19:30, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Add to the above list: Sant' Antonio, Sfazu, Somaino and Zalende. I'll check all of these on the German and Italian Wikipedias and see what I can up with. It's not really that easy, because we obviously need to redirect them to the correct town. Passportguy (talk) 19:34, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
On my map i could not find Cadera, Campascio, Cavaione, La Rasiga, Martin, Sant' Antonio, Viano, Zalende. But i think i am in on which town we must redirect to. It's Poschiavo, Brusio, Le Prese or San Carlo, the four biggest towns Highest Heights (talk) 19:36, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
  • Camascio is localed abut 2 km south of Brsio and has a church, indicating some notablity.
  • Cavaione is west, and also has a church
  • Viano is southeast of Brusio

For the others see below. Passportguy (talk) 19:41, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Poschiavo towns

Redirect

No redirect

I have redirect all except from Pedecosta that has a church and at least 15 houses seen from google maps. Highest Heights (talk) 19:48, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I think that may have been a bit too fast. But no harm done, I'll check if I can find anything notable about the others, but likely most of them will stay redirects. Passportguy (talk) 19:50, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Ok, maybe Cadera shall have a article. Li Curt is a part of the Poschiavo town i think, and nothing else so it is shall still be redirected to Poschiavo. Highest Heights (talk) 19:51, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Well if there is train station named after it it may be notable enough. All the others are rightly redirected, as I couldn't find anything notable about them. Passportguy (talk) 19:58, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
I will merge that train station part from the Li Curt article into Poschiavo because you are right. It is worth a note. Highest Heights (talk) 20:00, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Or no:D I requested deletion at AFD instead. Highest Heights (talk) 20:06, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
