You're not the Patrick Denny that went to Maynooth by any chance?

The very same, with a lot of other places since; please tell me who is asking? BTW, click on the section for user talk, which will make it easier to communicate. It shows remarks on formatting and so on, which may help -- PD
Hi Patrick - this is Brian O'Halloran here. Sorry, I should have attached my name to the previous comment! I saw your edits on the Carrick-on-Suir page, and was curious to see if it was indeed yourself. Hope life is well, still in Germany? --Brian
Hi Brian, I have you now, I thought it might be yourself. I'm back living in Galway now, designing and developing wired and wireless vision systems at CEL. The website isn't the most informative, but the R&D is cutting edge. I was in the magnetotellurics group over in GFZ in Potsdam, got the Ph.D., did GSM, ISDN and Bluetooth at AVM in Berlin, supercomputing at Compaq in Galway and then went to CEL initially to do wireless design and subsequently complete system design and development on vision systems. I've designed vision systems for Land Rover Range Rover and others and I'm currently working on a powerful system for BMW. Also, I'm working closely with NUIG Electronic Engineering Dept. Cool stuff indeed. Most importantly, I'm living in a wonderful place with a beautiful wife and two children. Wikipedia is something that I have started getting involved in lately and it is great -- PD 11:26, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Very nice stuff, Patrick! I'm over in Washington DC, working as a astronomy postdoc at GMU on extragalactic star formation, sounds exotic doesn't it?! Moved here 2 years ago, after finishing up my Ph.D. at UCD. Even lectured for a short while at Maynooth, most of the usual suspects are still there! Wikipedia is great - glad to see another Carrick native here, and another pair of hands to revert malicious edits! If I have to remove Joe Flynn as a notable Carrick native one more time.... --Brian 12:05, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
I have a sneaking feeling my Dad might be involved in the Joe Flynn thing; he is responsible for the Carrick-on-Suir website; I'll check with him on that; or at least he might know who is doing it! -- PD 16:06, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Patrick,

Sorry, I don't speak German, so you'll have to explain your proposed quote to me. What's on my user page is actually a quote from User:Rcpaterson, quoting Wittenstein on the Oliver Cromwell talk page. I had never heard of the guy previously and have never read his works. I just thought it was a good guide for wikipedians. Jdorney 15:33, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

The proposed quote is the actual one that Wittgenstein used, the one that you have on your site is not really German, but a close phonetic version. I wouldn't have mentioned it at all except I'm a German speaker and it was the only line on your user page, so I thought it would help to mention it. I agree, it is a good quote for wikipedians, although something like the following might do the trick too :-) :
That which we cannot speak of, we must pass over in silence, at least on the Article pages. But all the rest can go into Discussion pages!
Wittgenstein was the shining star of a movement called the Logical Positivists, which had some good stuff to say, as well as a lot of self-defeating waffle, but that quote of his was good. By the way, I came across your User page because I was editing the article page on my home town Carrick-on-Suir. Keep up the good work. -- PD 16:54, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Looks like I've got a new quote for my user page! Cheers, Jdorney 18:10, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey Patrick!

How goes it man? How the blazes are you? and your clan? What in the name of Yahweh are you up to these days? Good to know you're still alive and well! am working with another carrick on suir head (fergal keenan)! RSVP dude! ;) your ole mucker barry (ex-maynooth and fellow prince fan)

Well what do you know, the bazman hughes! Crikey Barry, how goes it?!? I'm writing from a motel in Silicon Valley where I'm working on an image sensor design, but I'll be back in Ireland Monday morning to try and get it out the door to one of the big car companies. Where are you at yourself and what gave you the good fortune to be landed with another Carrick man, who has also had the dubious pleasure of being educated with me? Barry, I'm not kidding, I was thinking of yourself and Kevin Morbin only today, which is eerie! Myself and the lovely Grace live in Galway, with our two beautiful children; I'll track down your page and get in touch asap -- (PD 05:41, 20 January 2007 (UTC))

Just saw your external link on the Spanish Armada in Ireland. Good stuff.--Shtove 14:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Hardiman is pretty reputable. -- PD 21:02, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Dave Dunne[edit]

Yah Maynooth! Was in your year man but did the general in 3rd. Hows it going?

Re: my user page[edit]

Hey there! It was an edit which didn't have any effect on the content of your userpage - it was done so that your page got 'refreshed' on the server - it was still being categorised in a category that was removed. By refreshing your page, it cleared this category problem. The server automatically removes blank spaces at the top of articles, so you won't be able to find any difference in your userpage code. Regards, --Sagaciousuk (talk) 19:16, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Spanish roots in Galway from Armada[edit]

You have removed references to Spanish Armada roots in Galway; on what basis in particular? Have you a refutation? PD (talk) 22:28, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Excuse me? I did no such thing! If it is this change that you are referring to, you will note that it was made by an anon from IP address
If you are having difficulty reading/interpretting the "page history" to discern who did what and when, you might want to consider reading Help:Page history. Alternatively, I can help if you like. Cheers. Guliolopez (talk) 12:17, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
