The Kindness Campaign[edit]

Peace dove.gif

Some Wikipedians have formed a project to better the quality of life at the Wikipedia through Kindness and Recognition of Users. It is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. All too often we get too wrapped up in our own tasks to recognize the hard work and determination of others. This WikiProject aims to correct that injustice, even if only a little bit, by making a conscious effort to acknowledge exceptional effort, skill, and commitment. It is motivated by the belief that a little kindness goes a long way, and in the end results in a better Wikipedia experience for everybody.

Knock knock.[edit]

Happy new year, Pdebee!

A Dobos torte for you![edit]

Dobos cake (Gerbeaud Confectionery Budapest Hungary).jpg 7&6=thirteen () has given you a Dobos torte to enjoy! Seven layers of fun because you deserve it.

To give a Dobos torte and spread the WikiLove, just place {{subst:Dobos Torte}} on someone else's talkpage, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.

7&6=thirteen () 17:31, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Dear 7&6=thirteen, Face-smile.svg
Well, that's most kind of you, and I shall enjoy savouring your most delicious-looking gift! Not sure it would do my waisteline any good but, hey, I don't receive such treats every day! Face-wink.svg
As for your kind intent, I choose to receive it as a gift from/to a friend: I followed with interest the good work you did to expand the article on The House of Houdini, and I was pleased with the final outcome, which will benefit our readers.
Thank you once again for your thoughtful gift, and for making contact.
With kind regards;

You can call it a "barnstar" -- some do. Or anything you want. You earned it, so enjoy! 7&6=thirteen () 17:56, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Change of plan {sighs}[edit]

{tentatively} Um, hi? Patrick? It's me, Maybelle...

{dodges rotting fruit} Aaah! I'm so sorry! {dodges knives} I know I promised to fix up the article on Georgi Kornazov {dodges peelers} but life got in the way! AGAIN! {dodges kitchen sink}

Anyway, I think it's time for a new game plan.

With the sheer amount of work I have to do lately (chemistry is such a prat {sigh}) I might...not be able to work on the Kornazov article for a while, yet.

{dodges the vast collection of kitchen accessories aimed for my head}

HOWEVER, I do have a back-up plan. To free up your long-cluttered user space (which I cluttered {guilty sigh}), I was thinking of transferring your wonderful and helpful advice to my own user space, and leave you free to use your own user space in peace. Thus, I will hopefully be finally out of your hair.

Thoughts? {dodges battle axes} I guess that's a no...

Mademoiselle La Souris (Squeak!) 20:36, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Dear Maybelle, Face-smile.svg
Thank you so much for making contact; it's always so nice to hear from you, and I love the way you pretend to think I'm mad at you... Face-wink.svg. I hope you're keeping well and it sounds like you're working hard, which is a good way to be successful.
As for our little project: please do as you wish, or as you think is best, or easiest, for you. Either way, please be assured you're not in the least "in my hair", and I'd still be happy to be of assistance in due course, if you wish. Whatever you decide to do will be fine with me, but I do hope you'll keep in touch, as I would miss your lovely & highly amusing little missives! Face-smile.svg
Until next time, then: please keep well and joyful, and know you have my very best wishes of success in all your endeavors; good luck, Maybelle!
With kind regards for now;

I am pleased to announce that your advice for fixing the Kornazov article has hereby been moved to to my own sandbox, and that you are now free to empty your user page Face-smile.svg Apologies again for wasting your time for so many months.
Mademoiselle La Souris (Squeak!) 02:45, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
Dear Maybelle, Face-smile.svg
Apologies for delay in acknowledging your latest missive; I have been somewhat absorbed in other things, on- and off-Wiki. Thank you for your action, and very best wishes of success with completing this project. Feel free to keep in touch, and please keep well.
Tiddly poms!

Opinions on the importance assessment on the Latin music project[edit]

Hi Pdebee! I just made some changes on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin music/Assessment#Importance assessment. I try to be as objective as I can believe, but I think it would be good if someone else from the project takes a look as well. If you have any suggestions, let me know. Erick (talk) 15:44, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Dear Erick, Face-smile.svg
First of all, please forgive me for delay in acknowledging your message, above. I've been on the Wiki on-and-off during the last two days but wanted to take the right amount of time to review your changes before offering my comments, below.
I can see you've worked on this for quite some time, and also that you looked at other projects for examples on how they did it, judging from your helpful edit summaries. I have now read the latest version (after the updates you applied yesterday) and, personally, I found all the criteria to be clear and very useful, and the formatting looks good also. There was just a little glitch with a missing single quotation mark, which I have now added a few minutes ago. From my perspective, I would say that these criteria are excellent as they are, and will be most helpful to the project; I will contact you again when I next apply them, just in case something else comes to mind.
Until then, thank you very much for all the work you have done on this, Erick, as it can be difficult at times to decide which importance level to attach to a given article; you have certainly provided very useful guidance with your latest updates; very well done. Face-smile.svg
With kind regards for now;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 16:09, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
Dear Erick, Face-smile.svg
Following on from my comments above, I have also applied a few changes; please feel free to revert any of these, if you end up concluding that they were not improvements. Face-wink.svg
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 16:42, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
Nah, it's good. My belief is that it's always good to have a second pair of eyes to make sure the wording grammatically correct. So I thank you for these changes. Erick (talk) 16:46, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
I am glad you think so. I am pleased to have been of some assistance to you, and also to have been asked. Thank you for your feedback, Erick.

Article request[edit]

Hello again Pdebee. I have an article request for you. I was working on 1999 in Latin music and one of the things I've noticed is that Buena Vista Social Club Presents Ibrahim Ferrer was one of the top ten selling Latin albums in the US in that year, but it doesn't have an article. It earned several accolades as well. I was wondering if you want to look into that and I could help out if you wish as well. Erick (talk) 15:48, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

Dear Erick, Face-smile.svg
Sure! I have that album and would be delighted to create a new article for it. I also have Buenos Hermanos (2003) and Mi Sueño (2006); do you think these merit an article too? If so, I'd be very happy to volunteer. Face-wink.svg
Thank you for thinking of asking me; it would be a pleasure for me to do any or all of these articles.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 16:02, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
With Buenos Hermanos definitely because it topped the Tropical Albums chart and won both a Grammy Award and a Latin Grammy Award. I did a quick search online and saw that Mi Sueño ranked on the World Albums chart by Billboard so that should do fine as well. Thank you very much Pdebee. :) Erick (talk) 16:08, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
Dear Erick, Face-smile.svg
Great! I'll get started later today, and will then contact you again when I'm ready for your review. Since I am slow and methodical Face-wink.svg, it will probably take me several days to provide advanced drafts for all three, but I'll do them in the order of releases (which I have just corrected in my earlier post above). Thanks again, Erick...
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 16:29, 19 March 2017 (UTC)
That's alright with me, I'm in no rush. Erick (talk) 16:49, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Dear Erick, Face-smile.svg
On the album cover, the title is printed in capitals ('BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB PRESENTS'), with the word 'PRESENTS' printed in a much smaller font than the rest. I just checked on the World Circuit website, and found that they spelled the album title with a lower case 'p' for 'presents'.
Would you agree that the article title should do the same: Buena Vista Social Club presents Ibrahim Ferrer?
Thank you for your input.
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 11:46, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

I wouldn't say so and that's because "presents" isn't an indefinite article. Plus sites like AllMusic has it as "Presents", so I would just go with however sources has it. Erick (talk) 14:02, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Dear Erick, Face-smile.svg
Fair enough; I'll use title case for the article's title. Thank you for your helpful advice.
