Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Israeli allegations against UNRWA

Hello, I came across information online saying that the un confirmed some unrwa staff involvement in the October 7 massacres. I searched for more information online and then found this relevant article. I noticed that the article included a biased title and a lengthy list of controversies that seemed unrelated to the main topic. Then I realized these additions were made on the same day so I reverted them. Can such a limited discussion with three people supporting then reverted by two opposing really be considered a consensus? This seems really strange to me that this is how we define consensus. The discussions have not been "limited" and have been taking place for some time, which you would know had you bothered to read any of the talk page before blindly reverting based on a POV. Nearly all of the additions relate to Israeli allegations against UNRWA so that's not correct either. In future, maybe familarize yourself properly with the history of a page before barging in and making hasty ill considered edits. As I have commented in the ongoing RM, I find it odd that both yourself and another editor, both new to the page, never having edited there before, show up at the same time to reinforce each others opinion and make the same revert. @ScottishFinnishRadish, I think you're not coming good on PeleYoetz. Communication is important but this is an escalation of wording, and possibly unfair punishment. That PeleYoetz is new and knows the rules less is just extra reason to explain to the user in the proper way. This is especially strange when much worse violations from experienced editors go ignored. Communication is not optional, but it must be done in an engaging way that helps the user without scaring the user, especially when this is the first time ever PeleYoetz is even contacted by an admin. Editing is voluntary, but when you edit after someone has expressed a concern without responding to those concerns, you're arguably being disruptive. And for the record, I'd certainly recommend you respond at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification_and_Amendment#Statement_by_PeleYoetz. Arbitrators are unlikely to take "I was busy" as an excuse when you've made nearly 100 edits since being informed of it a month ago.
