User talk:Pentium5dot1
Initial report[edit]
When I tried to make my first edit, I discovered that I was blocked because my username contains "Pentium" (a violation of NPOV and trademark policies). The violation was a complete oversight on my part, since I have used some form of "-_pentium5.1_-" as a username on many websites for several years without any (conscious) intention of promoting the Intel Pentium line of microprocessors. (I'm not very creative; this username was originally my father's idea, not mine.) My brain apparently experienced a minor but crucial glitch while reading the username policy, failing to realize that the trademark policy prohibited my username. My violation was a result merely of ordinary negligence and not of recklessness or malice.
I intend to get a new username, since my violation is blatant enough that I have no valid grounds for contesting the block. I understand that users with few or no contributions are generally advised to create a new account if they want a new username. However, I am trying to cleanly break all ties to my blatantly unneutral "-_pentium5.1_-" username on websites related to console emulation and certain other computer topics, I would prefer a username change. I will proceed with this as soon as I have decided on an appropriate username.
P.S. I apologize for a misuse of the minor edit flag on a previous edit of my user talk page (specifically, the first edit I made after creating the page).

Status update[edit]
After reading WP:CHU more closely, I have decided that my desire for a change of username is unreasonable. I will create a new account. Please disregard the struck-out text above. Pentium5dot1 18:29, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
