IG Group wiki[edit]

Hi there. Did you just reinstate what I wrote on the IG Group wiki? I saw someone deleted what I shared and was upset....now I see it back and it looks like you may have added it. If so, many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxtrey (talkcontribs) 08:30, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

byd e6 edit[edit]

Hello PetrB,

I've changed several things on the BYD e6 page:

1)The current number of e6 sold 2)Updated the range 3)Removed the fire crash article from the "Safety" section, since it was found by investigators that the accident wasn't a safety issue and the e6 had no fault in the accident.

Disruptive editor[edit]

An editor called legacypac has been undoing my contributions stating that it was copied word for word from source .Ok I agree that this is a violation, instead of modifying it and putting it into his own words, he removed it showing that this user does not want to work in a constructive manner and is lazy perhaps. This user directed a serious of personal attacks towards me and many other editors like update stormtrooper .[1].I ask you to advice the user.Absolution provider 1999 (talk) 13:47, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I am wondering what am I supposed to do about it? I am not an admin on english wikipedia, perhaps you should talk to some? Petrb (talk) 13:49, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Talkback[edit]

Hi Petrb, I'm Stuner0. You recently reverted my [change] to this article because you didn't deem it "constructive". I agreed with the users in the [[2]] that it would be best to create a separate category for Switzerland (as it's absolutely not a Presidential Republic) and so I changed it. Can you explain, why you disagree?

Hi, it seems that I have mistaken it with some content removal. Petrb (talk) 16:02, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Speed deletion of Vladimir Beba Popovic article[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Vladimir Beba Popovic is a director of Public Policy Institute, organisation that operates in Serbia, Montenegro and Slovenia. He is a public figure in this countries and we have his biography on Serbian and Bosnian languages and we are translating it on more languages (Spanish, German, Italian, Slovenian...), so we wanted to have his biography on English too. Do you maybe need more external links or something, that can confirm that he is significant figure in our country (Serbia)? Best regards, Milicevic Aleksandra (talk) 08:37, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Anibal João Melo[edit]

I've removed the speedy you added to Anibal João Melo: he's an elected national politician. Thanks, Dai Pritchard (talk) 14:05, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Chocolate article in Czech[edit]

Hi Petr! I noticed that the Czech article on Chocolate is full of mistakes and nonsense. The article in English on the other hand is very good. What can one do about it? I suppose I could edit the individual chapters of the Czech article but it seems to me like the best thing to do would be to translate the English article and replace the Czech one with it entirely incl. illustration photos etc. Can that be done? I would be happy to do it. I am a professional translator as well as a chocolate maker. Please advise! Thanks and best regards --- Janek Jaros — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.200.36.10 (talk) 14:04, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Hey! Of course it's possible, you can freely translate and copy contents of one wiki to another one. You don't even have to reupload any media files as these are already on commons, which is accessible from every WMF wiki. The only problem could be with references as these should be available in language of target wiki if possible. Petrb (talk) 21:18, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Huggle[edit]

Hello. You've worked on the page yourself as well, so maybe you can help.

I made some organizational changes a while ago as I'm sure you saw, and while they seemed to update for everyone else, something seems to have messed up on my end and not all the changes were applied. For example, I changed Reporting X to Added report for X, but I'm still seeing Reporting X, though I'm seeing Added report for X when other users report with Huggle. And as a result, I'm seeing double hyphens and double "including, including" for myself, but no one else. See here.

From what I can see, Huggle doesn't seem to be updating my configuration completely when I close the program -- it hasn't even updated it since March 21.

Any idea what the problem could be? Is there a way I can force a hard-update or something of the sorts on my local configuration (similar to how you can hard-refresh an Internet browser). Maybe that's the problem? Thanks! - Amaury (talk) 19:20, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello, which version of huggle you have? Petrb (talk) 20:16, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
The latest legacy version: 2.1.26. - Amaury (talk) 20:18, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

(edit conflict)

I suppos 2.1.26, as it's in your config file. That one is nearly impossible to debug regarding update of user page, because it produces no logs at all. Maybe try deleting your config folder, that one which is in same folder as huggle's executable. That would purge the cached pages and maybe it could fix the problem. To be honest given how often mediawiki is being changed I don't think legacy huggle will flawlessly work for long time. Let me know if the issues would continue. Btw, what is the reason for you not to simply update to latest 3x huggle? Petrb (talk) 20:22, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
I understand that some people prefer older huggle, but keep in mind that new one can be customized to look very similar:
Huggle3 legacy.png

Huggle 3 is more easier to maintain as it's supported on many other platforms than just windows, so it's naturally much more stable and also much faster. Petrb (talk) 20:25, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

@Petrb: I've finally updated to 3.1.13 after AVG detected some threat in 2.2.26 a short a while ago. I vaguely remember you posting how to make it look like the legacy version when we last talked, but I can't seem to find it. How do you set it so it looks like Huggle 2? Amaury (talk) 16:02, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

GUI: right click some of the widgets and open editbar, close user and history widgets, move the editbar over empty area of toolbar.
Settings: click the button to behave like huggle 2 in preferences. Petrb (talk) 12:52, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

HG revert stats[edit]

Hi Petrb! Hope all is well. I'm working on my own variation of a Voxel/Defcon bot, and wanted to include Huggle stats in it's analysis. Is there a way for a bot to fetch the number of Huggle reverts per minute (other than using the API to check recent changes)? Thanks! MusikAnimal talk 02:05, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Huggle is calculating these stats itself, so I am afraid there isn't any simple way to retrieve them, unless you had huggle itself write them somewhere. The mechanism is not simple: https://github.com/huggle/huggle3-qt-lx/blob/master/huggle/hugglefeed.cpp#L51 Petrb (talk) 07:23, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Depending on language of your bot, if it was in C# this task would be trivial, you would just get the XMLRCS library and connected to RCFeed using it, then you could just calculate it yourself by parsing the reverts from summaries of all edits in real time. Invitation to subscribe to the edit filter mailing list[edit]

Hi, as a user in the edit filter manager user group we wanted to let you know about the new wikipedia-en-editfilters mailing list. As part of our recent efforts to improve the use of edit filters on the English Wikipedia it has been established as a venue for internal discussion by edit filter managers regarding private filters (those only viewable by administrators and edit filter managers) and also as a means by which non-admins can ask questions about hidden filters that wouldn't be appropriate to discuss on-wiki. As an edit filter manager we encourage you to subscribe; the more users we have in the mailing list the more useful it will be to the community. If you subscribe we will send a short email to you through Wikipedia to confirm your subscription, but let us know if you'd prefer another method of verification. I'd also like to take the opportunity to invite you to contribute to the proposed guideline for edit filter use at WP:Edit filter/Draft and the associated talk page. Thank you! Special:AbuseFilter/728[edit]

Hey Petrb. I see you made an edit filter for tagging huggle edits. We recently made a tag for WPCleaner which has now been included in the tool itself to tag each edit made with it. This would be preferable as we're limited in how many edit filters we can reasonably run. Do you know if this would be possible to do in this case? I don't know exactly how the tag additions were implemented in WPCleaner but you might want to ask NicoV. Thanks, Sam Walton (talk) 16:32, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Yes I can do that for new huggle, but not for old one, so I suggest we keep this for a while until there is more people who upgrade to last version. It doesn't really utilize too much server resources. I also need some administrator who would add that tag so that it works 89.177.100.4 (talk) 22:47, 12 September 2015 (UTC)
Per my note on Phab I've created a tag you can use. Sam Walton (talk) 11:10, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
