Vanniyar[edit]

Hi Premthanjavur. I saw that you changed the "answered" tag to "no", but perhaps you misunderstand what that means. As soon as another editor responds to the request, that tag is changed to "yes". You're welcome to make further comment, but please don't change that tag back. Making a request doesn't mean your request automatically gets made, just that other editors should respond to it. It's just like if someone edited the article directly, and then was reverted; making a change or suggestion on Wikipedia isn't a guarantee of that change going/remaining in the article. I tried to explain what was wrong with your version, but I'm happy to explain more if you have further questions. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:51, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

Lists of people[edit]

WP:NLIST very explicitly and clearly says that we may never list living people in an sort of list (stand-alone or in an article) unless we have sources that 1) demonstrate the person's importance (specifically, that they be important enough to mention in the article in prose) and 2) explicitly state that the person meets the category. Furthermore, for lists related to religion, sexual orientation, and caste, the person must have explicitly self-identified as being in that caste (etc.). Please do not revert the List of Vanniyar to a stand-alone list unless you can provide references that verify all of the above. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:25, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Vanniyar does not have an edit summary. Please provide one before saving your changes to an article, as the summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Thanks! MatthewVanitas (talk) 05:03, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Vannia Kula Kshatriya may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Your behaviour at Vanniyar is becoming WP:Edit warring[edit]

Prem, you cannot repeatedly remove a paragraph against the consensus of the Talk page. This is known as "Edit warring" and can get your account blocked. If you are sure the paragraph is not correct or is misleading, then you need to gain consensus for its removal on the Talk page. You cannot use brute repetition, removing it and removing it over and over again (especially when multiple distinct editors are restoring it). Please stop removing the paragraph and make your case on the Talk page. MatthewVanitas (talk) 06:14, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Sitush. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Pallava dynasty, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hi Prem,

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw your contributions to the community pages (Vanniyar, Mazhavarayars, Silai Ezhupathu etc). I appreciate efforts in creating and adding contents to these pages. In the past, I will be the only person contributing to and creating articles and these were always vandalized and willfully deleted and after a certain point, I gave up (You can check my contributions in other articles e.g. Chozhanars). I feel happy now to have a like minded friend. Once again welcome to wikipedia!

Poor contributions[edit]

Please can you take a bit more care with your contributions to articles such as Vanniyar and Palli. I know that you have a particular interest in a small group of related communities but you have been reinstating poorly sourced, poorly written material. Some of it has included copyright violations, some of it misrepresents the source and some even is not supported at all by the source that you provide. It isn't good enough, sorry. - Sitush (talk) 02:22, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Having now found even more problems with your recent edits at Vanniyar, including changing the wording of a quotation from a source, and having reviewed this talk page and the article talk page, I think we've reached the point where you need to be made aware of the sanctions that are applicable in this topic area. Please take note of the information below. Thank you. - Sitush (talk) 02:34, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups.

February 2015[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by inserting commentary or your personal analysis into an article, as you did at Vanniyar. Sitush (talk) 10:47, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

I see that you are still edit warring at articles such as Velirs and Gounder. Stop it. Now. - Sitush (talk) 05:58, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Vanniyar and Palli[edit]

Please stop pushing your opinion that the ancient term vanniyar (meaning warrior) is synonymous with the modern usage for the Vanniyar/Palli caste. That is merely an origin myth propagated by vain members of that caste since the 19th century and, despite assertions that were once in various articles, Noboru Karashima has been explicit in saying that the two are unconnected. - Sitush (talk) 06:44, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

May 2015[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Sambuvaraya. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Sitush (talk) 07:09, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Karunakara Tondaiman shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Sitush (talk) 07:22, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

And at Sambuvaraya and Kadava dynasty also. You really do need to read WP:SYNTH, WP:PRIMARY, Sanskritisation and, alas, WP:SPA. - Sitush (talk) 07:43, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Kadava dynasty[edit]

Philg88 blocked you earlier this week for doing exactly the thing that you have just done at Kadava dynasty. You are still inserting misrepresentation of Noboru Karashima etc and you are still not even attempting to discuss it, although discussions have been opened on related talk pages. This is a quick route to a longer block, so I suggest you rethink. - Sitush (talk) 07:57, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

  • @Premthanjavur: I don't block people lightly, neither do I do it for fun. Repeating the type of behavior that resulted in your last block may lead to the permanent removal of your editing privileges as someone who through their non cooperation is not here to build an encyclopedia. Please edit responsibly and work in conjunction with others. Thanks.  Philg88 talk 09:58, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
I doubt that Philg88 will be impressed that you have just added the nonsense yet again. Please stop doing this. - Sitush (talk) 12:29, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
I think it's time for a discretionary topic ban covering all articles and any information in any way related to the Vanniyars, but I'd like to hear SpacemanSpiff's opinion before proceeding.  Philg88 talk 13:59, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Warning[edit]

You've been warned ample times already, and you have also been alerted about the discretionary sanctions surrounding social groups of South Asia, yet you continue to exhibit the same behavior across multiple articles. If you repeat this once more, you will be banned from editing any topics relating to Vanniyars and/or receive a block.—SpacemanSpiff 12:55, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Topic ban[edit]

You were topic banned last June. Why is it that, even after several blocks for breaching that ban, you still have not got the message? Your edits today to caste articles have all been reverted because they are repeating the same original research and, er, eccentric interpretation of sources as caused you to receive the original ban. Please stop. - Sitush (talk) 13:17, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
