Ludovic Lepic - Chaos.jpg slakr's life is currently frolicking with chaos, so his activity and response times to queries will be highly variable.
Leave a message and he will respond whenever he gets a chance— that is, assuming he gets a chance. Cheers =)

SineBot for Russian Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Kurt. We have consensus in Russian Wikipedia that we want to have a signing bot. Can your bot work on other Wikipedias? Thanks, Alexei Kopylov (talk) 19:25, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

I'm not Slakr, but he hasn't edited since August. I doubt he will reply soon. Felicia (talk) 00:05, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

Not running[edit]

SineBot doesn't seem to have run in the past three and a half hours or so. Any reason? --David Biddulph (talk) 16:57, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

@David Biddulph: It hasn't run since yesterday now. Last time I was aware of this happening, the bot had fallen over and needed restarting. However Slakr hasn't edited since mid-August so its unlikely they are aware that it needs doing. I'm not sure if anyone else can? Thryduulf (talk) 23:00, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
I've sent them an email, but their userpage says they don't always regularly respond to them so we'll see. They do say they're sometimes on IRC though, so someone who is familiar with that (I'm not at all) might want to look for them there. Thryduulf (talk) 23:09, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
@Thryduulf and David Biddulph: It should be back up now. Thanks for the heads up, and sorry about the delay. =) --slakrtalk / 01:36, 31 October 2018 (UTC)

Why did you block me — Preceding unsigned comment added by Teaspillingsis (talkcontribs) 10:43, 5 November 2018 (UTC)

It looks like the bot died again and isn't signing. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 01:02, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

@Ritchie333: Back up again. Ever since this whole bot session migration thing it's been a minor pain at times. I'll add some real monitoring here when I get a chance. --slakrtalk / 02:26, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Failure to explain[edit]

This bot is not explaining why IPs are being blocked! Can't it just leave the appropriate message? — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  23:39, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

@Mr. Guye: it uses {{blocked proxy}} for all its block messages, which anyone attempting to edit will see. --slakrtalk / 20:37, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
  • It doesn't expand when you try to edit blocked talk pages, etc.. It just shows {{blocked proxy}}. An unlinked plaintext template name is not a block message. — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  21:28, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
@Mr. Guye: ...then it's likely not a ProcseeBot block or you encountered a MediaWiki bug/caching issue, as I'm pretty certain its block messages are rendering correctly; I just checked. If you point me to the IP in question, I can take a closer look. --slakrtalk / 21:59, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
@Mr. Guye: No, it doesn't create talk pages for its blocks due to volume + bad signal-to-noise ratio. What you see when you visit User talk:46.247.128.234 is normal (the block message isn't substituted in log entries themselves, which is basically what the red "this user is currently blocked" box is—a one-row log entry). If you were to try to actually use one of the proxies and edit a page, you would see the actual, transcluded message once it appears within MediaWiki:Blockedtext. --slakrtalk / 22:49, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

@Statethefacts86: I have no idea what you're talking about. Best I can guess is you encountered a computer program I created called User:SineBot. --slakrtalk / 16:03, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
