Speedy deletion nomination of "Julian E. Rogers"[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on "Julian E. Rogers" requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — Timneu22 · talk 14:08, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Sources[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Véronique Tadjo, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 16:11, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Thank you[edit]

Thank you for writing E. F. Gordon. I had the privilege of reading the article while reviewing articles that have not been added to categories. The guy is amazing, and I'm glad that I just learned about him. What would you think about renaming the article Edgar Gordon, otherwise I will create Edgar Gordon as a redirect if you have a reason not to move it there. I will also create redirects from Mazumbo and Edgar Fitzgerald Gordon. Ryan Vesey Review me!

Thanks your comments, Ryan. I agree that the article may be better renamed, though perhaps it should be Edgar F. Gordon (the way he seems most often referred to), again with the redirect you suggest. What do you think? Proscribe (talk) 19:48, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
I'll go ahead, and then I'll make redirects. Ryan Vesey Review me! 19:49, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
OK, thank you. Proscribe (talk) 19:50, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

User:Proscribe/BIM magazine[edit]

I've created User:Proscribe/BIM magazine which was your revision of the article. I'm not sure which title you're looking for, so you can move/cut& paste to the appropriate location/title. Skier Dude (talk) 05:15, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Many thanks. Proscribe (talk) 15:23, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Erika J. Waters[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Erika J. Waters has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Bgwhite (talk) 22:49, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Guyana[edit]

Hi Proscribe! Dthomsen8 and I are trying to get WikiProject Guyana going again. I've noticed that you've helped out on a number of Guyana-related articles. Any chance you might be interested in joining up? All best, Lorelei (talk) 10:12, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi there, Lorelei - thanks for asking. My knowledge of Guyana is general (Caribbean-related) rather than specialist, though of course I'll help where I can. Best Proscribe (talk) 04:06, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
That's brilliant, Proscribe - thank you so much! Any help would be hugely appreciated - and there's loads of articles that would benefit massively from a lookover by someone with some general knowledge and good editing skills :) If you feel like it (though obviously don't feel obliged) we'd love to see your name on the WikiProject Guyana participants list - as much as anything else because we're feeling pretty pathetic right now with only three members!! I've noticed also that you're great at giving articles-in-need (!) a good copyedit (I think our interests, particularly Caribbean literature, overlap so I've spotted your improvements to some of the articles I've got on my watchlist) so if you do ever have a bit of spare time, there's an up-to-date clean-up listing on the WikiProject page. All best, and thanks again, Lorelei (talk) 09:50, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Please stop![edit]

When a subject belongs in a more narrow category, they are not also added to the broader parent category or categories to which the narrow one belongs. Thus, we don't put "Chip" Delany into the category "African-American writers" because he is already in the daughter category "African-American science fiction writers", a subset of the broader parent categories "African-American writers" and "Science fiction writers". I appreciate your well-intentioned efforts, but now somebody has to tidy them up. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:55, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Proposed Deletion of Category: Black British writers[edit]

Your input on the proposed deletion of Category: Black British writers (which includes C.L.R. James would be interesting. The deletion page is here. Ackees (talk) 23:50, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing this out. My vote is to keep the category. Proscribe (talk)

A brownie for you![edit]

Brownie transparent.png Just to say a huge thank you for the work you put into creating the exhibition list for the Aubrey Williams page! Lorelei (talk) 09:44, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
Thank you, Lorelei! Proscribe (talk)

Komla Dumor[edit]

Please note: I have removed the children's names, yet again, per WP:BLPPRIVACY - they are not notable and should not be named. I have also changed the "Biography" heading to "Early life and education" - this is a standard heading for bio articles, as the whole article is a biography. Thanks.--ukexpat (talk) 15:09, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

OK - understood! Proscribe (talk) 16:30, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Columns in reference lists[edit]

The forcing of a fixed number of columns in reference lists has been deprecated in favor of specifying a column size. See template:Reflist#Columns for more on this. Geraldo Perez (talk) 15:54, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. Proscribe (talk)

Daddy Was a Number Runner[edit]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Daddy Was a Number Runner, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.feministpress.org/books/louise-meriwether/daddy-was-number-runner.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Thanks for picking up my slip - meant to redirect to original article (which is without initials spaced). Proscribe (talk) 05:58, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
