Want to be adopted?[edit]

Hello, I am happy to adopt you if you would like! If you want to know more about me, check my userpage or my entry on the list of adopters (near the bottom). If you want to be adopted by me, either add {{Adoptee|Dev920}} to your userpage or drop me a note at my talkpage. Welcome to Wikipedia! Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 18:42, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm delighted! This is a first time adoption for me as well, but I'm sure we'll muddle through.
Basically, you can ask me any questions you want about Wikipedia. You are additionally welcome to ask me for advice or help with anything. I will also, with your permission, keep an eye on your contributions and point out any errors you may be making and/or help you with any problems you may be having. Please ask me if you have any more questions about the adoption. Here's to a happy and helpful adoption! :D Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 22:12, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heya! To become an admin, you have to demonstrate a knowledge of Wikipedia policy and have a good editing record. There's no set threshold you have to pass, but generally you have to be on Wikipedia for at least four months with an edit count in the thousands. Being an admin is about doing technical stuff behind the scenes (which is why becoming an admin is often termed "being given the mop") so you also have to have a good number of edits in the Wikipedia: namespace, such as voting on XfDs, contributing to policies etc. The most important thing though, is that the community trusts you to use the tools sensibly. As luck would have it, I'm currently undergoing an RfA right now, see Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Dev920. Check out the others too - basically you just need to be a good and helpful editor, and adminship will eventually follow. WP:ADMIN has more about what administrators actually do.

Regarding Floricienta, it appears to be a television series, so you would be allowed a screenshot of one of the episodes or its logo, but probably not any old promotional picture of one of the actresses. Try to find a publicity photo, and you can upload that under fair use, as long as it has a fair use rationale. See Image:Latterdays 001.jpg for how to do this. Fair Use is confusing though, so please come and ask further questions if you don't get something.

Btw, I noticed you nicked my userbox code. :) You might want to change the alignment from center to left, it'll probably look better on your page. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 23:29, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

Just want to make sure that you knew that you said I caused the vandalism to Borat which was obviously caused by an IP. Careful with what you put in edit summaries, some users don't take it as well as I did (believe me I've been flamed for this). Gdo01 00:53, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I wish there was some way to undo edit summaries but to my knowledge there is no possible way. Thanks for the quick reply. Gdo01 01:00, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good handling of the situation. :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 16:38, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism by 67.42.100.71[edit]

Hey. Thanks for your message. Yes, this user does not seem to like big feet very much. :-) If he vandalizes again, he should definitely be reported on WP:AIV. I'm not an admin, so unfortunately I can't do the blocking. Keep up your good vandal-fighting. Thanks, Prolog 21:51, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reporting to AIV before violating warning[edit]

Thank you for making a report about 209.7.8.66 (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you! —Dgiest c 23:16, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

Usually, if you want to transfer free images between Wikipedias, you simply upload it to the Commons (commons.wikimedia.org), then the image: parameter will work whatever. However your image, which I found here is copyrighted, so you need to download it to your computer, upload it yourself to this Wikipedia and add an approriate licence and fair use rationale. See Image:Latterdays 001.jpg, and adapt it for your own purposes. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 20:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm not Charles Matthews or Angela, which leaves... :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 22:49, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: AIV warning[edit]

To be honest I have no clue, I was fixing a broken redirection (seems you can't double redirect a template) on this warning. Perhaps you should check with the user that issued the message to you a month ago? (even if he probably forgot already ;)) -- lucasbfr talk 19:28, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An edit war? Where? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 21:58, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I just tested it with Template:LGBTproject, and I think you can just create a redirect in the page you want to change the spelling of it, and it'll work fine. See that page for more. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 05:18, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your AfD[edit]

"Article sucks", is not a reason to delete. If we deleted every sucky article we'd lose about a million articles. :) What you should have said was that the article did contain any evidence of notability, and had no references to boot, not to mention being poorly written. That's a lot more convincing. See what I mean? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 09:25, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption[edit]

Well, you've been adopted for seven months. How you feeling about Wikipedia, think you've got a grip on what we're all about and where to go? Want to stay adopted a bit longer or feeling confident to graduate? Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 16:34, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still around, I'm just taking a step back for a bit to recharge and do other interesting things. :) And if you're okay to graduate, just remove my adoption box on your page (you can replace it with {{AdopteeGrad|Adopter}} if you would like), and do stay in touch. My first adoptee graduating, I'm so proud. :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 21:28, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ianctive[edit]

Just to let you know, I removed the user box indicating that you wish to be an admin because you haven't been active in a while. If you return and want t oreadd it please feel free to do so. I removed it because some people do look at the list to see if there are any qualified admin candidates.---Balloonman PoppaBalloon 22:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pittsburgh event for Wikipedia's tenth anniversary[edit]

Hi! Since you have a connection to Pittsburgh, I wanted to invite you to the Wikipedia Tenth Anniversary celebrations we're having in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 15. During the daytime, we're going to be having a photo contribution drive where anyone can bring in their digital photos or prints and Wikipedians will teach people how to upload them and add them to articles, and maybe introduction to Wikipedia workshops as well. Then in the evening, we'll have fun at the Carson City Saloon. There will be free Wikipedia t-shirts and other goodies, as well. See the Pittsburgh meetup page for more details. I hope to see you there!--ragesoss (talk) 15:56, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop at CMU (Aug 15)[edit]

Since you are one of the editors in the Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: Carnegie Mellon University, I'd like to invite you to the Teaching with Wikipedia Workshop that will take place at CMU on Aug 15 (this workshop is open to general public, and is a joint imitative of CMU and Pitt). There will be another workshop held at Pitt in the Fall as well. It will cover how to include Wikipedia in one's course (WP:SUP) and also how to become a Wikipedia:Campus Ambassadors. Pennsylvania has currently only one ambassador (myself) and it would be great if we could recruit at least several more. Ambassadors help course instructors, showing them how Wikipedia works, and interact with students. Many current ambassadors come from the body of students, faculty and university staff; it is a fun adventure, and adds to one resume/CV, to boot :) If it sounds interesting, feel free to ask me any questions, or to come to the workshop. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 20:18, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Al Hilal (1958 film) moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Al Hilal (1958 film), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Al Hilal (1958 film), a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:24, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Al Hilal (1958 film)[edit]

Hello, Qwertyca. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Al Hilal".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.
