Hi. Whilst it is fresh in your mind, could you provide the source of the figure of the number of employees. If you wish, you can let me know what it is and I'll add it in the standard format. Thanks. Adambro 19:03, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Open University degrees typically take six or more years to complete; stating that it took him six years is at best (for those who know about the OU) unnecessary, at worst (for those who don't) misleading, as it makes it look as though he took twice as long as other people to pass.

Note that tivia shouldn't be in separate sections, but incorporated into the article. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 10:03, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So why, with the greatest of respect, did you not state that when you made the changes? Also, can you please provide a Wiki link where it states "Trivia shouldn't be in separate sections, but incorporated into the article." Many thanks. Rangemean 12:24, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Given that you gave no edit summaries at all, you're not really in a position to complain that mine didn't go into enough detail for you.
  2. Wikipedia:Avoid trivia sections in articles. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 14:02, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My contributions to Wikipedia are mainly minor additions to articles, or updates - generally where I judged an edit summury to not be required. I certainly try not remove other user's work without any comments or discussion, as you did in this case (especially so soon after I added the information, may I add).
Regardless, I will bear in mind your comments, and from now on ensure I do complete the edit summary form in all instances. :-) Oh, and thank you for making Wikipedia a welcoming environment to all new users... Rangemean 06:48, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Edit summary: "Providing an edit summary, even if the edit is minor, makes Wikipedia work better by quickly explaining to other users what your change was about" (my italics); "Always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline. Even a short summary is better than no summary." --Mel Etitis (Talk) 09:39, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Practice what you preach then, or alternatively, care to explain your alterations better then just "tidied" - as you did in this case. "Tidied" does not adequately explain the removal of a piece of fact. If you'd initially explained that an OU degree generally takes 5-6 years, then I wouldn't have questioned the original alteration. Thank you. Rangemean 10:03, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
