Design[edit]

No, I haven't got around to designing my userpage yet, um, I was too busy... I was editing a huge article and had no time for anything else...erm...OK, OK! I admit it! I completely forgot about it. ^_^ Thanks for reminding me!!! TopGearFreak Talk 19:36, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your B assessment has been changed to "start" (seeWikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment#Requests for assessment). Trying to get a debate and consensus for necessary improvements. Your contribution would be helpful. Folks at 137 (talk) 23:07, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Userpage[edit]

I see that you like to design userpages. Would you please try to make my userpage look nice? Please please please? Thank you in advance, but I would like these things to be kept in the same shape they are in now:

  • The "Who I am..." section with the userboxes: I would still like the "hide" and "show" function, because I have a lot (trust me, more than you think) of userbaxes. Try showing them all, and you'll get my point.
  • The table with my wikiphilosophies: I would perfer to leave it as a table, but you can resize it. (feel free!)

As long as no content is removed, feel very free to modify anything your insights would permit you to! Thanks in advance again! Leujohn (talk, How did I do?) 09:42, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some brain food for you
Thanks for the prompt reply. For organization purposes, I put a Underconstruction tag on my page. I trust that your new design will be better than my current one. (It's kinda obvious, seeing that your userpage is already better than mine) Leujohn (talk, How did I do?) 10:03, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Excellent Userpage Award
I... am dumbfounded. My gratitude is beyond words. This barnstar just shows a little drop of my thanks to you. Leujohn (talk, How did I do?) 11:01, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA[edit]

Best wishes for your RFA -- Tinu Cherian - 06:03, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but I very highly doubt it will go through. I almost guarantee it won't. I've just stopped looking at it :). edMarkViolinistDrop me a line 17:08, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA was unsuccessful[edit]

I am sorry to inform you that I have closed your RfA early as there was no longer a realistic prospect of success. I hope you will not be too disheartened by this - many of the project's administrators were unsuccessful more than once before finally passing RfA. I encourage you to take on board comments made by those opposing. If you are thinking of running again in future, it might be worth approaching some of them for feedback as to whether they feel you have addressed their concerns so that you can gain an idea of your chances of passing and work to improve them. Best wishes, WJBscribe (talk) 17:36, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dont be disappointed or disheartened by the outcome of the RFA. Keep up your good contributions, adress the concerns if possible and come back again . Thanks -- Tinu Cherian - 12:17, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some help[edit]

Hi RMV:

I am so sorry that your RfA has turned out to be so bruising but some good has come out of it. At least you have a clear idea of what to address for next time. Now I don't really do admin coaching but I'll be glad to help you ready for your next RfA. The key is probably to focus on each aspect one at a time, with the aim of utterly mastering it. Interested? Email me if you're more comfortable that way. --ROGER DAVIES talk 17:54, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cool :) Shall we kick off by getting Battle of Marion to A-class and sticking to it like glue until it's there? --ROGER DAVIES talk 18:42, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Probably to read through the stuff at the last review, add the stuff from the talk page, and make an action list. Unless you've got a better idea, --ROGER DAVIES talk 18:49, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey RMV. Just thought I'd let you know that I've added a full prose and technical copyedit of Marion to my list of things to do. Cam (Chat) 00:44, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commiserations[edit]

Hi, sorry that didn't work out, if you run again in a few months please feel free to drop me a note. In the meantime there's been some talk as to how we can tweak the system and I'd value your input there. ϢereSpielChequers 18:10, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Having had my own RfA woes, I can sympathize with your recent adventure. I think you are a great editor and I hope to see you online -- keep up the fine work! Ecoleetage (talk) 23:56, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Green Plans[edit]

Hi, I'm Walker Dawson, and I'm writing you because you thought that my page "Green Plans" didn't warrant a page on Wikipedia. I would like you to reconsider this, and allow me time to expand this page.

Thank you again.

My userpage[edit]

I was wondering if you can fix my userpage. If you click on one of the [show] on the left side of my userpage, it seems to move everything to the left. Thanks if you do it. Also, sorry about your 3 failed nominations. -- SRE.K.Annoyomous.L.24[c] 05:28, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning up using AWB[edit]

Hi. Not sure what you intended with this edit to Graham Abel, but all you've achieved is to remove quite a number of correct wikilinks. If you're editing with a script, it's a good idea to check your edit before saving to make sure it's really done what you wanted it to do. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:39, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're right in that every linked item remained linked at least once in the article. However, it's perfectly acceptable and normal for an item to be linked in both infobox and body of article; and it's acceptable for the same item to be linked in different sections, though with an article as short as this one it's probably unnecessary. Where there is overlinking, it's best to link the first occurrence of an item, which your script didn't quite manage. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:58, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Marion[edit]

I would like to point you to my comment of a couple of weeks ago, which was never responded to. Here it is, copied from the GA review page:

"At the moment, I still don't know which reference "Heritage Preservation Services: Battle Summary" is supposed to lead to. Also, whichever one it does (if it's one of the first two in the references section) still doesn't back up what it's supposed to be referencing. There is presently a fact tag in the article, and a hidden comment about the page range of Ref 3 (Official records), which needs to be checked out. I agree with the hidden comment, as page 442 of the Official records does not cover, for example, the strength and losses of the armies, for which it is currently cited. Please make sure that all of your references currently cover all of the information for which they are being cited. Blatantly mis-using sources is a very bad habit to get into... Dana boomer (talk) 19:51, 21 November 2008 (UTC)"

I still stand by these comments. Drop me a note if you have any more questions. Dana boomer (talk) 18:06, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Page[edit]

It really doesnt matter to me what colors. Maybe maroon if thats available otherwise you choose.

Xstlrams16x (talk) 01:16, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - it appears this user has chosen to ignore your warnings, and is continuing to re-add the same junk data. There was recent trouble with 69.122.210.59 abusing multiple accounts, to add similar data (including plugs for Handley's book), and I wonder if there's a connection? Could this be Handley, back for another round? (I would roll back the new edits myself, but I don't want to be accused of "owning" the articles in question. Even if I did create most of them.) Zephyrad (talk) 04:18, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, no problem. Handley appears to be the type to "not work or play well with others", and if this isn't him (or his alleged "daughter"; check out the relevant talk pages), I have to wonder how they heard about his book. Some of the edits appear to be word-for-word copies of his. Zephyrad (talk) 04:37, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't know how to file such a report... and I think I may be too close to the issue for everyone's comfort. Daedalus969 dealt with Handley previously (and his multiple accounts, including a "revert bot" that did some sloppy work, and was easily detected... and his apparent tactic of logging on under another nick, to back himself up); I left a note on his talk page also. (This is as far as I prefer to go, at this time.) Cheers. Zephyrad (talk) 05:07, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[1]? That IP isn't a vandal, they are a regular on the reference desk. Take a quick look at their contribs.—eric 04:52, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Edits[edit]

I am new to wikipedia and don't know all the protocols, so let me apologize for any confusion. I didn't even know these discussion pages existed. But I do want to say that none of my edits were meant as vandalism. I was just trying to correct what was clearly erroneous information in the articles. I have since submitted the corrections again but have provided proof that my edits were correct. I am a Planet of the Apes fan and was surprised that many of the articles were riddled with incorrect information. There are several more corrections I would like to make over the next few days. When I do I would provide the proper links and evidence to justify the corrections. Thanks.--67.244.75.51 (talk) 19:14, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:My Edits[edit]

Thank you. I've tried to put in references and links in the comments. I'm still learning my way around. What is the proper way to add a link or citation in an entry. --67.244.75.51 (talk) 22:39, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Marion Peer Review[edit]

I have just completed a very comprehensive commenting on the Battle of Marion peer review. I want you to know that I have tried to be as constructive and meticulous as possible in my review, and as such I may give off the impression of being too critical. I want you to know that I am doing so with good reason: This article does not have much farther to go. By being critical, I'm trying to ensure that you have very little that needs doing between ACR & FAC (as is the logical next step for an A-Class Article, and as you yourself have stated is the eventual goal for Battle of Marion). This article is very close, and I wish it all the best at (finally) achieving A-Class. Cam (Chat) 01:10, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
