First post!

Woo, I beat the rush! >_>

Ah, yes. I've answered your questions at my editor review, so I'm ready for the abuse that will no doubt be forthcoming. Thanks! :) Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 10:38, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey, thanks! I like the new review format, because it really is that much easier to get through -- and thanks for taking the time to write it. :) If you offered a nom I'd accept it, but I'd probably be best to spend another couple of weeks getting right into AfD and possibly becoming a cabalist. Hmm... I'll need to think about the latter, though, because it doesn't sound easy to get into. Cheerio, Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 11:51, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, at least we know where to find them, ey? :) Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 12:03, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Woah, you've done a really good job on that. Compared to this version, the Portal now contains significantly more information on the front page (presented nicely, too :) ), and I like that it places more important content where it can be quickly and easily seen by visitors. For some strange reason, I like the effort you've put into referring to other similar portals and projects, which seems to be very well done indeed. Although, green on grey... takes all kinds, I suppose. :P Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 12:14, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, I dunno, it's just that green seems like an odd choice. Black would be more traditional (and probably slightly more readable), although just switching to a darker shade would probably help. Alternatively, a dark blue could be good too, since grey goes nicely with it already -- a little like the reverse of this very talk page, if you will.
On a totally irrelevant note, wow. I think I've just found the most polite vandal ever -- they even left a truly descriptive and helpful edit summary for us. Awesome! :) Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 12:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Oh, wow. I'm so out of touch. I'll never make admin now!! ;_; Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 12:26, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Damnit! Now that we actually have that feature, does this mean I lose those points on the Wikipediholic test? Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 12:32, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

No, I've finished my work on the transcript for tonight at least. I will be working on the episode 6 one, though -- if you keep working on episode 5, I'll focus on 6 to avoid clashing. I might take my laptop out to get some work done on it during the day. Anyway, bed time I guess... nighty night. :) Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 12:50, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Now that' was a nice change, I really like the new scheme. Well done. :) Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 11:09, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

^ beat me to it :(

Regarding Portal:Chemistry... I meant to write this earlier, but totally forgot! Ack! Anywho, have you considered using the hiding navframes to keep the portal more concise? I was thinking for things at the bottom, like the list of chemical elements and the categories. It will help shorten the page a touch ... see my page (bottom, the Awards section) for an example.

And re:discussion about green on grey above, I like it. Maybe it's just a girl thing ;-) — Editor at Large(speak) 12:22, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

True about excess clicking. That's why I suggested it for the less important (or what I assumed to be less important) things that people wouldn't normally go to the portal to see. Well, congrats on all your work! You're not as pathetic at css/html/wikimarkup as you say you are :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 11:10, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
I see. Understandable. Well, if I can be of any assistance in a particular area just give me a shout! — Editor at Large(speak) 12:35, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
P.S. Liar -- you said you were "off" an hour ago! *slaps Riana for not following WikiBreak rules*

Non-something nominations

Hi, rd. I admit my portal "nominations" invitations are poorly worded. What I impled but didn't say was that a "featured something" doesn't need to be nominated, just add it. The nominations sections were meant to offer opportunities for "non-obvious" items to be added. I'll have to go back and clarify what I wrote at the other portals. Thanks for confirming my ambiguity! :-) Rfrisbietalk 17:25, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

You've got some. I think you'll like this. Moreschi 21:43, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

a barn star

Hey Riana, I was going through the vandalized page of urs....just forget it sorry. It looks like people are sometimes not so happy with you having a barnstar or some thing like that. Comming to the topic I wanted to know how I could get or earn a barnstar. Would really appreciate your help in this.Good luck an India. May be..so.I am really sorry that I could not log in. This is rencin24

OK OK OK I accepect it but I just did not realise or in other words did not see it. I though Admin means a wikipedia user. OK. So now I get what you say thanks a lot for that. Will suerly do that. Keep in touch. Hope you will never mind like these kinds of small questions that I ask you.Thanks.rencin24

NPWatcher

You've been approved to use NPWatcher. When you log into the program, wait a few seconds while it queries wikipedia before screaming at your PC for crashing (unless you see an error, of course). Please give me any feature requests, bugs, etc. The watchlist feature does not work. Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if I've made a new release. Finally, enjoy! Martinp23

^^^ Standard message - thanks for your interest! It requires the .NET framework 2.0. Again, thanks Martinp23 15:41, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Improvements to the Education portal

Hi, here's another one! I'm working on the Education Portal to get it up to featured status. As always, I look forward to your tips at its talk page. :-) Rfrisbietalk 06:45, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism for Dummies

Hey , thank you for reverting the vandalism to my page. That guy could benefit from Vandalism: For Dummies, a book Husond and I are writing. Once again, thank you. Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 08:45, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Again Riana, I have to thank you for you vigilant protection of my page. I liked the changing my vandalism count from 4 to 5, that was quite good. that'll be in the book. Thanks again, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . 3 22:00, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Chemistry portal

Check the display at 1024X768. The periodic table is "crashing" into the other column. Rfrisbietalk 15:42, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Gah, I can't win with that one ;) I'll revert. riana_dzasta 15:44, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
It probably would work on the left side, with some trading. Try it again after you add the DYK section. Rfrisbietalk 16:38, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Why don't you try something like this at the bottom 100% width section of the portal. I set it to work at 800X600 displays as well. :-) Rfrisbietalk 03:02, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Wow - You're my knight in shining armour, mate. I'll have a go once I've written up some DYK-y stuff. riana_dzasta 04:11, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

An Award for you  :p

Wow...great job on the chemistry portal! I have just now realized how much you actually worked on it. Keep it up, also let me know when it is up for the featured portals so I can put my Support vote on.__Seadog 20:10, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

You are welcome...Oh and yes today is the day that I earned my 3,000 edit mark *fear me now* :). Also I am now working on reaching the 1,000 edit mark in the Mainspace.
Same with you!__Seadog 04:24, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi Riana...I noticed that your email address is advertised on your userpage. It might be a better idea to take it off your userpage and instead turn on the "email this user" feature your preferences. That way passing bystanders and others won't know your email. I hope I am not talking to you as if you are a n00b, I am just making a suggestion and trying to save you from some weird e-mail.__Seadog 04:53, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

re:Mayford Football Club

Having searched around I found the following which might help: Wikipedia:Notability (organizations) (which is still in the making) and Ways to verify notability. Pretty much what is needed is external sources, a news report or article from a local magazine. The internet doesn't have much (16 Google hits [1]) but that's not the only source. I suppose it doesn't help if you don't live in the area but paper, books, magazines can be used as sources aswell. I found the team website (I think it is) [2] which can't be used for notability because it's self published but for a football club it's quite a comprehensive site so they might get away with it. Hope that helps. James086 Talk | Contribs 23:40, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

People don't seem to like me reverting their vandalism, I can't imagine why... though 2 of the messages are because I accidently reverted legitimate edits. On the plus side however, the ones who leave me unpleasant messages tend not to be the ones who vandalise my user page. James086 Talk | Contribs 08:31, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

So, you're free from your exams

Means a lot more talking to you then :D Will (Tell me, is something eluding you, sunshine?) 09:02, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Of course talking to you is a good thing. Because you're good to chat to :) Will (Tell me, is something eluding you, sunshine?) 09:05, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Ah, it's ok, it was only a few search/replaces in Notepad, two minutes work, if that (seriously). Will (Tell me, is something eluding you, sunshine?) 10:23, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Friend or vandal?

This edit of yours came up as vandalism [3]. I have lost all respect I held for you. haha, :P James086 Talk | Contribs 12:55, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Off to AIV for you! James086 Talk | Contribs 13:00, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
NO! Random acts of friendship! Friendship will be out of control and people will start appreciating each other! What has the world come to? Whatever you do don't be friendly to people. :P James086 Talk | Contribs 13:08, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm lost for words. How could you do that? I just realised the horrible contradictory nature of the messages I have been sending to people. Reporting myself to AIV. James086 Talk | Contribs 13:20, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, RC Patrollers are nothing but bad news. Making the wiki-world a miserable place, undoing "quality" edits, blocking "good" editors and just generally messing things up. James086 Talk | Contribs 13:44, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I never get the funny ones, sometimes strange: [4]. I think the funniest vandalism I have come across would be to my user page thus: [5], but why can't they all be interesting? It should be mandatory that if you want to vandalise it must be funny. James086 Talk | Contribs 13:59, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
You again! [6] was picked up for "damn" and "wow". You are running rampant.
Warning! This user is a crazed vandal and must be stopped!
This box really shows up with your background

I use the lupin tool and I get user page vandalism and policy aswell so I let it pick things up outside mainspace. James086 Talk | Contribs 14:14, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Ooh! The worst kind! Well, you said you like baked goods, sugary comestibles, happy faces and 5 pointed shapes. I got 3 of 4 but due to the hasty nature of my artwork I could only find a 6 pointed comestible.

But this is wikipedia, and it's policy! Wikipedia:Verifiability says always cite your sauces. I didn't even realise it was alliteration. Well, now you have a literary, yummy, smiley, confectionary. James086 Talk | Contribs 14:45, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Edit summary

Hi there; I am asking you this question here, and not on my RfA page, because I really do not want to appear combative or argumentative, which I am not being, but I do need to know. Is it usual, or expected, to affix an edit summary to a user:talk edit? Because I have just not been doing that - as a person to person communication (I know it's public) it just did not seem necessary. The RfA is going to fail anyway, but I really need to know for next time. I have come to you because your position is clear, and I cannot therefore be thought to be canvassing. Thank you.--Anthony.bradbury 14:38, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you; your answer is indeed most helpful. I guess it is probably not appropriate to discuss an ongoing RfA, but in the event (which seems likely) of this one failing I certainly will go again in two or three months, with an enlarged wiki namespace output, and a higher edit summary and warning count! Perhaps I might hear from you again then.--Anthony.bradbury 15:18, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
It had never even occurred to me to edit policy pages! This was, it would apear, an error of judgement on my part. I just took policy as being just that - policy. It's a learning experience.--Anthony.bradbury 22:48, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Userpage

Thanks, but you don't have to thank me for stating what's true :D Thanks for the smile :P I'll be back to editing in no time (but not now, I have a large project on yellow fever)! Fredil 14:21, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Hmm... how's purple instead of pink for the userpage? I like the purple better, but the ice cream just melted :( Fredil 16:36, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Fine by me :D I'm supposed to be working on my project right now, so see you around! Fredil 16:49, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

thanks

Hi Riana, and thanks. It's especially annoying because there are some nice cashmere sweaters at Macy's (I suppose you don't have this store in Australia) that I've been eyeing, and now they're on sale, and I could use some more shoes too, and anyway I'm rambling. Thanks again!--Kyoko 18:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor

Back in September you marked the Aryl hydrocarbon receptor article as too technical. Can you elaborate further about your reasoning? Are you familiar with transcription factors? I guess I wanted to know what ideas/concepts/sections of the article were too technical. What brought you to the article? I am quite familiar with this transcription factor and am hoping to improve the article. Thanks. Biomedeng 21:48, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Davey dweeb RfA:

What's a co-nomination? Of course it's not alright anyway... ;) Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to be wikifriends? My list is kinda low & yours is so long. You must be a nice person... :) Spawn Man 06:14, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

You added me!!!! Awesome!!!! Ummmm... I still don't know what a co-nom is still... When I nominated before, there was never any "co-nom" thingy. Mind you, those succeeded like last year or so lol... I'll add you to my friends list & we shall commence a long & glorious friendship. It involves talking to one another though... Something my other friends forget usually... :) Thanks man. Spawn Man 06:40, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
I still get the glory of nominating Davey first though... Muahahah. Thanks for explaining the co-nomination thingy Riana too... Thanks, Spawn Man 06:48, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Awww man, now I feel bad. Maybe you should take the main nomiantion & I'll co nominate? Spawn Man 06:53, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
You sure, cause if it means more to you than it does to me, than it is only my duty to let ladies first. You wont have to say no 3 times.... I really don't mind. It seems you have a lot of background with davey, so I really wouldn't mind. Sorry if I'm a bit annoying, but I get upset if everyone's not happy lol... Thanks Riana & if you need anything, you know you have a friend in me... :) Spawn Man 06:59, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Well okay. You twisted my arm. Well if you don't have anything to do I'm on here for a bit. If you don't have anything to do you could drop me a couple of posts & have a little conversation if you wanted? You seem like a nice person to get along with... :D Anywat, got some edits to do so I can 1000 edits this month. I'm at about 900 so far & my back & thumbs are killing me lol. Spawn Man 07:07, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Wow, you guys are fighting to nominate me? Wow. I feel so loved.. ;_; *sniff* :) Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 07:22, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

In regards to your post on my talk riana, I'm not worried about my count, I just really wanted another personal milestone & my edits have never gotten that high since I first started. Anyway, I gotta go watch one of my fave programmes RD & DD. Maybe we can resume this conversation another time eh? I enjoy finally talking to someone lol. :] Spawn Man 07:28, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Heh, I've noticed you've got one of the songs that I've been thrashing lately; Sunsets by Powderfinger. I just realised you're Australian too. I'm hoping we can still be friends since I'm a Kiwi & all. Plus you kicked our butts in rugby league this week too, & cricket, asuming you watch sports. Ah well, at least the All Blacks are #1... Just dropped in to say hi. Why did you remove the WP:ESP link from your signature? :/Nearly Headless Nick {L} 09:48, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey Nick, hope you're doing well! I removed the EA link because... it just seemed wrong to be doing RCP with a link like that in my signature. It didn't seem to be what EA is all about, you know? Do you think it was wrong? riana_dzasta 10:07, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

You've taken a dagger to my heart... :( Ah well, maybe I can nominate you later. Tell me when you think you're ready & I'll nominante away. Cross-post from the RfA - At this point in time, I decline. I don't believe I'm quite ready yet - I'd really prefer to have a few more months' experience. Perhaps I'm just underconfident, seeing as I've been offered nominations 3-4 months ago and refused for the same reasons, but the problems then still more or less stand. Profuse thanks to my nominators - your support means so much! I hope to see you here again in March/April of next year! :) riana_dzasta 03:02, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

No problem. I'll support you in anything you attempt :D You're a great person, don't give up on adminship! Fredil 21:47, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I will second that! Also I would review the portal but in my opinion it is the best I have seen lately, I like how there are icons next to the lists so that It dosn't look like a clump of links. Cheers. :D.__Seadog 22:00, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Dance portal

Hi, if you haven't already, you might want to contact the portal creator, Roland2, and a currently busy contributor, Fang Aili. Off we go! :-) Rfrisbietalk 23:11, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sorry. I somehow missed that there are 2 of you interested in updating the portal. Well, I'm all for it! I love the changes so far. Thanks! --Fang Aili talk 15:39, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I responded over at Rfrisbie's page. :) --Fang Aili talk 15:44, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I'm about out of layout ideas. Now you can do some of that picture adding you were bragging about! ;-) Rfrisbietalk 20:51, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks x 73

I wasn't going to send thank-you cards, but the emotional impact of hitting WP:100 (and doing so unanimously!) changed my mind. So I appreciate your confidence in me at RFA (even if it seemed redundant to you), and hope you'll let me know if I can do anything for you in the future. Cheers! -- nae'blis 23:39, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Hindenburg burning.jpg
Oh, the humanity!

I had my doubts about a second RfA, but even I couldn't have predicted the way it caught fire and inexorably drifted to the ground in flames, causing quite a stir on its way down. Still, it was encouraging to see the level of support and confidence. Thank you for being willing to reconsider your position, and I hope I'll still have your support the next time around. Kafziel Talk 13:47, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, I passed. I appreciate your input. Please keep an eye on me(if you want) to see if a screw up. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 15:59, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

You're not e-mail enabled!

I was going to e-mail you the link to my LiveJournal because I felt like coming out of my Wikicloset to some of my Wikifriends. But you're not enabled! If you e-mail me, I will send you the link. If you want to read someone's LJ that's mostly about video games, drinking, and boys. -- Merope 22:34, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Stressed users list and friends list

You're still on the stressed users list, eh? For exam-related reasons, too... just thought I'd point it out as I figured you'd forgotten. And you know, just because Seadog starts with the "C" sound doesn't mean he goes second alphabetically :-P

Nooo!! You did the unsign!

I hit an edit conflict on that AfD where you added an unsigned template. Now my n00bness is complete. :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elaragirl (talkcontribs)

Witch?

I wish. I seem to have acquired a magic touch at XFD/RFA. Everyone agrees with me these days - which after ArbCom is definitely comforting. Once upon a time...urggh!!! See you round. Cheers, Moreschi 10:44, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

On the earlier topic, I think the best conclusion is simply that truly great minds think alike. Thanks for the GA congrats - though it took a huge palaver to get it to that status - check out my talk, that page's talk, and the WP:GA/R. My word. Anyway, the end result is pretty decent. BLOCK THIS IP FROM EDITING (not reading)

This is the IP of a school and despite the countless 'last warnings' wikipedia doesen't seem to get it, you will get nothing but vandalism from this IP, anyone seriously trying to contribute to an article would do It from their home computer. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.93.154.151 (talkcontribs).

Banned users

My appologies; I thought anybody was allowed to do this, and I also believe I had good reason. However I don't make the rules here, and now that I understand them more clearly, will abide by them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.216.188.161 (talkcontribs)

Banning / last change

Well I can appreciate that, and thanks for setting me straight. In the case of vandalism, however, it's not so much the damaging of an article I thought merited an outright ban - it's the fact that three people were listed by name ( first and last ) and described in very inflamatory ways. That would be humiliating for the people named, maybe libel, and brings criticism to Wikipedia. I reverted the edit, but how should extreme cases like that be handled? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.216.188.161 (talkcontribs)

Jaw dropping - yep, that was my reaction was well! Jesus Christ - fake FAs in userspace. WTF?? Were/are people totally out of their minds??? 110 subpages???? Best, Moreschi 15:42, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

{{lowercase}} and {{User:1ne/title}}

Just a heads up, {{lowercase}} does a much better title hack (e.g. iTunes) Will (Tell me, is something eluding you, Sunshine?) 17:56, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
