Proposed deletion of List of radiata animal orders[edit]

Notice

The article List of radiata animal orders has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

'Radiata' is not comparable to 'Bilateria' as it is not a clade, is obsolete, and historically was defined in different ways at different times, so 'formerly classified as Radiata' gives an undefinable list which cannot correctly be combined with modern classes, subclasses, and orders, it's totally misleading.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Chiswick Chap (talk) 04:16, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi RichardWeiss, thanks for letting me know you intend to address the issues. However, I do not believe they are addressable, for the reasons given in the quote above. That makes clear that in my view the article is irreparable, since it combines a vague, multiply-defined historical grouping, known for a century to be unsatisfactory, with modern taxa that are not compatible with the obsolete historical group(s). The article therefore has no definable scope, and is constructed on unsound principles. Rather than rush straight to AfD, however, I'd be curious to know how you intend to fix the article? Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:40, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
Sorry to trouble you again. I've added a table of alternative definitions to Radiata, which I think says pretty much all that is needed on the topic. The varying definitions at phylum level shown in the table illustrate exactly why I think the idea of creating a list at (modern) order level to be a non-starter. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of radiata animal orders is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Chiswick Chap (talk) 20:20, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open[edit]

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Carles Puigdemont[edit]

About your recent edit in which you placed an NPOV template. Please consider posting on the article talk page to explain your concern. This is recommended by Template:NPOV#When to use. Since you have made a similar edit on about fifteen articles it seems that the time is ripe for a discussion. A possible location would be at WT:SPAIN. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 15:07, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

I opened the thread at Puigdemont within 5 mins of tagging. WP:SPAIN may be the better place. This edit by User:Hispalois was the first, I simply followed in their footsteps with the subsequent 15 or so, and got reverted at Puigdemont, hence the tag and thread there. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 16:16, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message[edit]

Scale of justice 2.svgHello, RichardWeiss. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

ScienceLad123[edit]

Hi RichardWeiss, I noticed that you in good faith reverted a number of edits by an IP who seemed to be wikihounding ScienceLad123. Thanks for that, as it does look like the IP's reverts were out of line. However, it turns out that ScienceLad123 is actually a sock of long-term abusive editor Shingling334, who is blocked from editing Wikipedia, whether their edits are helpful or not. I wanted to let you know that I will be reverting them again on that basis. In particular, the change of the photos in the Istanbul Airport article has already been made several times, all by multiple socks of the same blocked user, so I'd ask you not to reinstate it. If you feel strongly that any of the edits should stand, please get consensus on the article's talk page to reinstate it, and/or ping me about it... --IamNotU (talk) 22:02, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

It's in MoS, not linking in quotes is standard practice. You are experienced enough to know this. If you can link outside the quote do so. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 19:07, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
MoS does not outright prohibit linking in quotes, it says to use them conservatively, and "link only to targets that correspond to the meaning clearly intended by the quote's author". Woke is a prominent term but somewhat obscure in this context. ViperSnake151  Talk  19:12, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
Exactly and this is a classic bad use of a link in quotes. We can't say what the speaker intended in this case. Woke is a somewhat obscure term full stop, I have no objection to it being linked to outside the quote. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 19:14, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Valtònyc, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Público (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Deletion discussion about Rural poverty in Canada[edit]

Hello, RichardWeiss,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Arthistorian1977 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Rural poverty in Canada should be deleted. Your comments are welcome over Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rural poverty in Canada .

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Arthistorian1977}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know you afd'd the article, I am hapy to support your afd but don't need to be informed about how Afds work, I figured that out many years ago. I didn't create the article content, which came form rural poverty, I don't object to the article being deleted but I would strongly object to the material being restored to the rural poverty article, have a nice day. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 15:10, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
