Thanks for your work at James D. Watson. If you have a general interest in the discovery of the structure of DNA, please think about visiting and editing some of the other pages linked to from the Watson article, such as Rosalind Franklin. --JWSchmidt 22:23, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aleksei Leonov & Andrei Sokolov - InTheOceanOfStorms.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:InTheOceanOfStorms.jpg. The copy called Image:InTheOceanOfStorms.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 22:01, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Moon landing[edit]

I've reverted the change you made to Moon landing. Language like "abject and humiliating failure" flies in the face of WP:NPOV, one of our foundation policies. - CHAIRBOY () 13:09, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Ranger3.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important blue.svg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ranger3.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 23:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Aleksei Leonov & Andrei Sokolov - InTheOceanOfStorms.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aleksei Leonov & Andrei Sokolov - InTheOceanOfStorms.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

File:SO-102 Orbital Plot.jpg[edit]

Hello, for File:SO-102 Orbital Plot.jpg, I am unconvinced that this satisfies our requirements, because the image is replaceable. Instead we need an update on File:Galactic centre orbits.svg. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:53, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:AvaInExMachina.png.jpg[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:AvaInExMachina.png.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 20:37, 3 June 2015 (UTC)

Scale of justice 2.svg Hello, Rickyjames. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
