Central Hall[edit]

Rob: thanks for your interest in the history of Central Hall buikding. I think it needs its own seperate entry. Contact me if you need any assistance as this is a very important building in the political and social history of melbourne. Lentisco 23:40, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Rob: yes you can freely quote any other research or journalism. Perhaps would be best if you could write the historical 'facts' initially ie. location, architect, builder, cost, who opened it, intial uses etc etc.-- later one could construct the article to have more sociological bent. Lentisco 03:19, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rob, were you interviewed on I'm interested in your history of Central Hall, commissioned by ACU. Was this for the centenary? What ever happened to the article? Cnwb 02:33, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if we've met. I work at ACU. Cnwb 05:56, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent article-its great that all your research is now publically available. Do you know if Mannix lectured here? It may be the site of the greatest anti-conscription meeting in Australia? Would this be an exaggeration? Lentisco 01:41, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christian Brothers College, Bulawayo[edit]

Many thanks for cleaning up the article and thereby bringing up to standard. I must comment you appear to know much about the school. What are your links. i.e parent, alumni, teacher, etc. part 18:16, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again - I once heard someone talking about a school affiliated to the Christian Brothers in Welkom, Free State Province, South Africa. Sadly, I did not pay enough attention. Hope this helps. part 15:46, 1 January 2007 (UTC) part 15:49, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edmund Rice camps, and Aquinas College[edit]

Hi, I am a student at Aquinas College, and Aquinas is actively involved in an Edmund Rice camp, as community service, I know of two students (other students also help, but I do not PERSONALLY know them) who have in the past helped at the camps although I personally do not know much about them, I hope that helps, what is your interest in the Camps?? are you really writing a book on them??. Aquinas College, Perth[edit]

Hey, the senior service project at Aquinas does somewhat play a part in E.R.C, that is, if student choose to participate in these camps, i know that some senior student currently at the college do it (it is a very small number), but some do it. the senior service project is a requirement of the college, but as to what servie you do, it is largely upto you (unless you wish to do a popular activity). If there is anything else i can help with, dont hesitate. apologies about the late reply. Smbarnzy 10:27, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, ive started a peer-review for AC, Perth and i think you are one of the best editors on wikipedia so i was wondering if you could give your thoughts on the article - Wikipedia:Peer review/Aquinas College, Perth/archive4 - many thanks Smbarnzy 10:28, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the peer-review it was one of the best ive ever seen =) your work is quite amazing, youre a legende' thanks alot, if theres anything you need to know, just msg me, many thanks Smbarnzy 08:29, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, im a bit confused as to what you mean by a bibliography :S is there a wiki-page about it? Smbarnzy 07:13, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edmund Rice[edit]

Hi. The difficulty is that the translation of Edmund is never used, only Iognáid Rís, Ignatius Rice as you said, for example the "corn Iognáid Rís" (the hurling trophy named in his honour), or the many schools named Coláiste Iognáid Rís, in Naas, Cork, Walkinstown, Limerick and even the one in Callan his home town uses "Iognáid Rís" and "Éamonn Rís" interchangably. So, Éamonn Iognáid Rís is never used...

Do you think we should just put in this explanation? Stevecull 22:47, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I'll have a play-around with it during the week Stevecull 23:26, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rostevor College[edit]

Hi, your origins on the 'Rostrevor' name is great, but I've put it on the Northern Ireland page instead, its better there. I've written most of the article on the school so far, and most of the detail is from school records and articles, so I think it should be fine and accurate just to leave it as it is for the time being.

CB Sexual Abuse[edit]

Rob,

What's your view on the sexual abuse stuff on the Christian Brothers' page? I removed some fairly explicit details last year, but I see that Ballarat has now been added, again with too much detail. I can understand, of course, why people feel very strongly about this.

I'd like to see a more general account dealing with Australia in general, (There have been charges and jail terms dotted over most of Australia probably) and also covering the various apologies and changes that have been made.

You've been a dedicated editor here, so I don't want to jump in and do something quickly... though it pains me somewhat to see that up for a couple of months already. Can I assist?

Hello Rob Lindsey, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Christian Brothers Logo.png) was found at the following location: User:Rob Lindsey. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. re: Clare Gervasoni[edit]

Hello there! I've contacted you because I discovered that you deleted the article Clare Gervasoni on May 24. The author, User:Gervo1865 ignored the speedy deletion and recreated the article two days later, and it hasn't been touched since. Clearly, this author is writing about herself.

I would tag the article myself, except I don't know how to do so properly - mainly because she may deserve an article, but your speedy deletion (I suppose on grounds of autobiography) suggests otherwise. Thanks in advance! Rob Lindsey 06:24, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You could use {{prod}}. Adding some supporting evidence on the talk page would help too. I don't have time to do the research right now, but try googling her to see if anything comes up. That would be a start. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 01:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I am Gervo1865 and I am not Clare Gervasoni. I am the Heritage and Urban Design Officer for City of Ballarat and you will find that I have created or augmented many pages relating to the history, culture and heritage of the Ballarat district. Clare Gervasoni is a valued member of our Heritage Advisory Committee and was appointed to this role by the University of Ballarat. I am sure that if you actually check the links in the article you will see why speedy deletion was reversed. When will you remove this unfounded accusation from your page?

St Joseph's College crest[edit]

Hi Rob, I don't know anything about the school, so did not know about the purple background. I have been trying to find crests with white boarders as it makes the school association pages (such as ACC) look much neater. That crest was the only one I could find on the school's offical website without coloured boarders. I'm quite happy to revert to the original crest if you would like...doesn't at all offend me. It's your call as you obviously have a far better knowledge of the school than I do. Will have another look on their website as well. Thanks for pointing that out! Loopla 08:02, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I noticed you reverted an edit to this page. An grammatically dodgy edit was later made by Semajkcin, whose only other two contributions were vandalism. However I'm not sure of my facts, so didn't revert his edits. Might be worth a look if you have a moment. Regards Davidelit 15:24, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Rob[edit]

G'day Rob, congrats on all your work on Wiki so far, including your message of advice to me. I gotta' admit, I didn't mind being named the English teacher of the Century. I'm trying to erase my profile, but not sure how. I've only learnt to re-name it. I'm well aware of legal issues of contacting students outside school. It's an interesting area, into which I've done extensive research. Legally, there is not necessarily an issue. As far as the VIT, that's another story! Cheers, 1275 - AKA Mike.

Hey, I’ve noticed that you have been quite active throughout the Coheed and Cambria articles (or any such related articles), and so I thought I’d let you know I have very recently set up a Coheed and Cambria WikiProject, and would be delighted if you would join. I warn you though, the project is in its very early stages, and still needs a lot of work. Thanks ≈ The Haunted Angel 01:40, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Max Boyce[edit]

Good work! No problem in changing it to "B" class. I've made some minor changes, as you'll see: some copy edits, some removing of excessive wikilinks, etc. I also thought it unnecessary to state the days of the week on which his one-off shows aired. I'd also suggest expanding the lead section slightly (WP:LEAD), and if you can expand some of the shorter paragraphs too, so much the better. I think you need a source for the bit about his 1998 show breaking viewing records and being seen by half the population of Wales, but I didn't want to disfigure the article with a {{fact}} tag. Further suggestions might be made from those who do this sort of thing more often at peer review - alternatively, to my inexpert eye it doesn't seem too far off from being a good article, so you could just be bold and take it there now. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Brother Rice High School Chicago Logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brother Rice High School Chicago Logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. wiki is certainly different i must say. I find the major problem with this sort of stuff is that the articles these things are based on are pure beat-ups, so getting any serious neutrality is a major issue. Thanks for bringing that to my attention! I don't speak Cornish either, I passed the sign today and thought I would take a quick snap. However I do know that Welsh people can understand some Cornish words as they are very closely related, so perhaps these words in particular are the same... nevertheless I will ask some of the Cornish speakers here to verify it! --Joowwww (talk) 00:12, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Max Boyce.jpg[edit]

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. AfD nomination of Edmund Rice Camps[edit]

An editor has nominated Edmund Rice Camps, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Edmund Rice Camps and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:44, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Disambiguation link notification[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited Nell Ní Chróinín, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Irish, Kilkenny City and Sean-nós (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

New Wales Coast Path WikiProject[edit]

Living Paths! Logo

As a member of WikiProject Wales, WikiProject Cardiff or an user who has contributed to Welsh articles we invite you to contribute to a new project, Living Paths!: articles, images, translations... Lonely Planet rated the coast of Wales "the best region on Earth" in 2012, yet there is a very low number of articles on the history and culture of places along the Coastal Path. This promises to be an exciting project as it gathers momentum with many Users joining in across the world.

If you are interested in training groups in Wales, please leave a message on the Talk Page.
Let's make this WikiProject, like the path itself, the best on earth! And let's put Wales back on the map!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
