January 2013[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Park Street, Kolkata, without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Proposed deletion of Who Killed Johnny[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Who Killed Johnny has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability? Minimal sourcing. See connected articles. While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be [[WP:DEL#REASON|deleted for any of several reasons]. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - CorbieV 23:42, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ilana Rapp[edit]

Hello Roland zh,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ilana Rapp for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Trivialist (talk) 01:14, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Please do not remove this category from biographies of Indian cricketers. This category is included on all articles of Indian cricketers. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 08:09, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Non-diffusing categories[edit]

When you make new categories for people restricted by gender within a larger non-gender-restricted category (such as your new Category:Indian women mathematicians), they must be tagged as non-diffusing categories (as I have now done for the Indian women mathematicians), and members of the parent category should not be removed from it when adding them to the child category. The reason is to avoid ghettoizing the women and making it so that when people go to the main category they only see the men. See WP:DUPCAT for more detailed guidance. —David Eppstein (talk) 22:25, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

20th/21st century categories of people[edit]

You should be aware that there's a consensus against the creation of people categories for the 20th and 21st centuries, see eg Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2010_March_8#Journalists_by_century. Roland, there's no need to be snarky. You removed articles from a category which actually exists, and placed them in non-existent categories. After categorising those articles, you did several other edits, so you could have created the category before continuing. Instead, you left the categ as a redlink, which is an error, so I reverted, and I took the trouble to notify you politely.
I didn't create the category myself because I didn't think it was a good idea. Having looked at, I still don't think it's a good idea, so will nominate it for merger. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 20:53, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Charles Lewinsky im Gespräch - SRF1 - 2013-03-06 for EN-WP.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. {di-replaceable fair use disputed|completley disagree, being an 'old hand' Wikimedia Commons user since 2006, since there's no chance to find a 'free image': Helen Pai is a women television writer and backstage crew who's avoiding every public appearances. No Gxxle pix at all, and all the GG backstage footage on DVD (1-7) of the 2000's contained just this one short sequence which I used for that snap. 100% not replacable by 'free content', hence, Non-free media information and use rationale for Helen Pai, Roland zh (talk) 11:09, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Tina Huang as 'Susie Chang' on 'Rizzoli & Isles' 5.16.png[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Tina Huang as 'Susie Chang' on 'Rizzoli & Isles' 5.16.png.

You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:46, 15 June 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewing[edit]

Wikipedia New page reviewer.svg
Hello, Roland zh.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 18:06, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi Insertcleverphrasehere, thank you, but I suppose my English level as too bad to do a serious job as reviewer. Kindly regards, Roland zh (talk) 19:26, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
