DYK for Travesti (gender identity)

[edit]

On 5 July 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Travesti (gender identity), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Latin American travesti gender identity has been considered to be a third gender, akin to the hijras of India and the muxe of Mexico? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Travesti (gender identity). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Travesti (gender identity)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Drag

[edit]

Hi Rumba Samba Mambo, not sure what your plans are for /sandbox3, but parts of it would make good improvements to Drag (clothing), Drag queen, or Transvestism. I'd like to see the Lorber quotation from your #Definitions section added to the Drag (clothing) article, where it would be a very good fit. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 01:27, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mathglot. My intention is to broaden the Drag (clothing) article (which has many issues), so the concept of drag can be discussed as an artform and type of entertainment that involves drag queens, drag kings and beyond; as well as how it has evolved over time and the different interpretations of it. I interpret that the original intention of the article was to discuss drag "as a whole", and that is the direction I am taking (always trying not to include excess information about topics that have their own article). Many times the articles I edit are born out of my interest in reading literature on various topics. That sounds good. As far as how to handle material which is about a subtopic which has its own article, this is covered in WP:Summary style. If you're not familiar with it, please read that, as well as glossary items WP:G#Parent article and WP:G#Child article, and become familiar with section header links {{Main}}, {{Further}}, and {{See also}}. If you're translating/summarizing from a Spanish (or other language) Wikipedia article which doesn't have a corresponding English article, then check out {{Further ill}} as well.
