I saw what you did on several police-related articles. I started all or most of them some time ago, without much knowledge of police work. It's good to see that others are making 'em better. Anthony Police, Texas[edit]

Hello! Thank you for adding the patch immage to the Anthony Police Department (Texas) page!

I am new to this whole thing and everytime I try up upload an immage it gets deleted.

So, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind adding Ernesto Rascon's picture to his page too, perhaps with the patch as well. His only picture can be found at Rascon's OPMD page.

If not, that's fine. I know I should learn how to do it myself.

Nonetheless, thanks!

Anthony Police/Ernesto Rascon[edit]

Thank for for adding the additional images. You may have noticed that I tried to do that but failed. Would you mind letting me know what I did wrong so I will not run into this issue in the future? The pages look great, you did an outstanding job! Information Should Be Free (talk) 15:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Anthony PD[edit]

Hey Sarge,

Our ranks are simple. A row of four gold stars for the Chief, A single gold bar for the LT, three gold stripes for SGT (like the Army), and that's all. Detective has no rank, we have no assistant/vice chiefs, no captains, no chaplans. It really isn't worht listing to be frank. But you've done good work and I appreciate it. Especially with Ernesto Rascon. Thank you. Information Should Be Free (talk) 01:29, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Cadet grades and insignia of the Civil Air Patrol[edit]

Gods, you know it is a sign that you've been on Wikipedia too long when you recall style guidelines that apparently don't even exist anymore. Okay, the style guides *used* to say that images should always be right aligned after a section header, and that subsequent images within a section should be staggered (if there is room), or stagged throughout the article if such is justified. Sorry about that confusion. Even so, I'd still argue that right aligning the images makes the most sense in that article, because you don't want to weigh down the left side too much. The left already has lots of large, bold text (section headers), and having the images on the right evens it out visually. However, if you really think they should be left aligned, then go ahead and change back. I simply disagree from a visual style perspective. Huntster (t @ c) 03:57, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Wikipedia Reviewer.svg

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:37, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Vector images[edit]

Do you have the capability to produce vector graphics? I saw your edits to Flags of the United States armed forces and was about to revert them, until I remembered that you produce a huge amount of image files, and it might be better to fix the source. In almost every circumstance, i would prefer the Scalable Vector Graphics file to a raster graphics format. If not, can you start making requests at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab? bahamut0013wordsdeeds 15:58, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you indicated an association with Louisiana State University. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at LSU, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:05, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Marine Combat Aircrew Badge[edit]

SGT141, I noticed that the Marine Combat Aircrew Badge, pictured here and here, have the wrong service stars attached to this badge. The Marine Combat Aircrew Badge uses small gold and silver service stars, also known as combat stars. The stars currently displayed on the Marine Combat Aircrew Badge are traditional bronze service stars that are worn on U.S. Military ribbons and medals. The original upload of the Marine Combat Aircrew Badge is the most correct version on Wikipedia. Since you appear to be the most recent editor of these images, would you mind reverting this stand-alone image and updating the Marine Aviation Badges image with the correct Combat Aircrew Badge? --McChizzle (talk) 00:57, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Done. And thanks for the heads up. If you notice any others, let me know and I will try to correct them. SGT141 (talk) 15:22, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for updating the badge SGT141. If there is anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to let me know. Regards, McChizzle (talk) 01:06, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

SGT141, I discovered another image of the Marine Combat Aircrew Badge that has the wrong combat stars on the Badges of the United States Navy page. It looks like you are the one who last modified this image. Since I lack permission to update it, would you mind corrected this graphic as you did with the others? Thank you, in advance, for your help. Respectfully, McChizzle (talk) 23:10, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the help SGT141! The new badge looks great. --McChizzle (talk) 21:55, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Religious symbolism in the United States military[edit]

Hi, SGT141, I reverted the edit you made on the page, where you deleted the old U.S. Army Jewish Chaplain/Chapel flag that showed the Roman Numerals instead of the Hebrew letters - and hope you'll keep the reverted (original) version. You said you deleted it because there were "too many" flags -- but showing the changes in the various flags of the various service chaplaincies has been the challenge of this article, and a large part of its purpose.... I know we can delete info or images that are incorrect or poorly sourced, but this fits into the article, I think. I very much hope you will agree. It certainly has taken me a good amount of time to track some of these images down, and I think every one of them helps paint the picture of the changes that have occurred over the years. (Today, I finally received and uploaded the USAF Chaplain Corps flag.) By the way, on a separate subject, did you read the new section on female military personnel who had to wear the head-to-toe abaya off-base in Saudi Arabia until that policy was changed -- and are now encouraged to wear the hijab/headscarf in Afghanistan? I ended up exchanging a number of emails with Col McSally (now retired and teaching at the Marshall Center in Germany), who (as a LtCol) sued the AF over this policy. Very interesting issue, I think! Best wishes, NearTheZoo (talk) 20:06, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

CBP GS-12 image[edit]

Good day sir. I saw your page and is very interesting.

As a current U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer I edited a few things in our Agancy page. I was very disappointed to see the GS-12 rank image edited to a cartoon looking image posted by you.

Did you seriously think that the image you posted looks better than the one copied and pasted form OUR Agency's official uniform website? Well, it does not! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.81.94.77 (talk) 13:40, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Capitalization question: Marines[edit]

SGT141, I know you're in law enforcement, but have great respect for the military. I thought you would like to know that I am trying to get the wikipedia Manual of Style changed to require capitalization of the word "Marine," as the USMC requests--and as more and more manuals of style dictate (including the AP, and as of 2009, the NY Times). Here's the discussion, in case you would like to offer an opinion: Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Capital_letters#Military_terms:_Marines. Best wishes, NearTheZoo (talk) 19:28, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Greetings! I have taken the liberty of transferring one of your fair use Wikipedia files over to the Wikimedia Commons. It was a San Diego County deputy sheriff's badge. However, it was quickly marked for deletion because the source is allegedly unclear. Could you be as so kind as to go over to the page and clear up the information regarding the source? Guidon article on Wikipedia[edit]

Hey Sarge. This is Robert Lovelle Rooks writing from Herat, Afghanistan. I'm writing because I was hoping you could help me find out who wrote the "Significance" portion of the Wikipedia article on "Guidon". I'm looking to quote it in a fiction book I'm publishing this summer called "The Guidon Bearer: A Basic Training Story"

"It is an honor, although sometimes a dubious one, to be the guidon carrier for a unit, known as a "guidon bearer" or "guide". He or she stands in front of the unit alongside of the commander (or the commander's representative), and is the rallying point for troops to fall into formation when the order is given. In drill and ceremonies, the guidon and commander are always in front of the formation."

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, This is Ofc. Wynn S. Allen of the Department of Veterans Affairs in West Haven, CT. The Badge you posted on the Department of Veteran Affairs Police Wiki site was issued to me in May of 1993, after completing the LETC in Little Rock. I turned it in on March of 2000 to go work for the BOP, I returned to the VA in April 2008 and attempted to get my old badge number back but they said it was issued out. How did you obtain this picture of my old badge? Where you issued it? It bring back some good memories.
