How to make great links

Hi, you seem to have troubles writing intra-wikipedia links :) Just as a reminder, [[article]] allows you to make a link to article, and [[article|title of the article]] links to title of the article. If you want to do a link to an other website, [http://www.google.com Google main page] will appear that way: Google main page. My name is Scott, and I am the person creating this set of articles. Or trying to -- they are being deleted before I even finish editing the basic outline for them!

First of all, I have no connection to Sonar or its manufacturer other than the fact that I use their program.

The idea for creating a Sonar wiki came about on a huge Sonar forum, due to the fact that there is tons of great information there, but it's not systematized, and as on all forums it is hard to find the prime information and harder to separate it from everything that surrounds it.

Plus, Wikipedia's article format is ideal for this sort of systematization of the creme de la creme of information -- there are entire books written about using this software, so it is obviously information that is in demand and useful.

At the forum, the strategy was to create an outline and then have users go and fill it in. But that takes a bit of time -- so I beseech you to please give us a week or two to get up to snuff

Thats a great idea scott, but wikipedia is not the place to do it (wikipedia has a specific set of goals, and is also not a free webhost. If you google "free wiki hosts" sevral hits come back where his wiki could be hosted(such as editthis.info) or if you have a web server you could load your own copy of mediawiki, the pages can be moved by copying the source from the edit button and pasting them into your new wiki and then adding {{db-author}}to the wikipedia pages. Also you will be able to choose the lisence your wiki will use which could be GDFLlike wikipedia or a creative commons etc. Also welcome to wikipeida and if you have any questions please just drop a note on my talk page at User_talk:Benon and ill try and help as best i can Benon 01:11, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

as some suggestions of hosts if you like the wiki engine wikipedia is useing mediawiki avoid www.wikihost.org as they use gekowiki (something similar)

Baffled

I'm frankly baffled at the speed and zeal with which the Sonar articles are being deleted. This is not an attempt to get "free web hosting" (which is a wee bit offensive) nor to put up useless garbage or advertising. It is an attempt to create an encyclopedic collection of the very best knowledge culled from over 404,000 forum posts (http://forum.cakewalk.com/tt.asp?forumid=2) by world-class mastering engineers, mixing engineers, musicians, acousticians, home recordists and others.

If this content is not appropriate for Wikipedia, I must ask you why Wikipedia happily hosts articles about virtually every other piece software used for audio recording, but not Sonar:

Just for the record, we did not speedily or zealously delete your articles (OK I did speedy one just as a warning). We put the articles through the totally democratic (in my view) AfD process.

I really do hope you find a home for your proposed Wiki. I saw you created "The Sonar wiki is now here". But the entire site seems to be down at this moment which is not a good sign! But as soon as you get it up, do come back to the Cakewalk Sonar stub I have created and add a link to your wiki. And anyway, please feel free to expand my stub in Wikipedia style.

Hints: if you are creating a wiki, please use proper wiki markup - you need to set a good example for the other contributors who you hope to attract.
