Bosworth Field

Thank you for you recent edit of the page English Renaissance. The 1485 battle should either be called "the Battle of Bosworth", or "Bosworth Field". "The Battle of Bosworth Field" is an incorrect, albeit widely used, tautology, as "field" in this context is a mediaeval term meaning battleground. Restoration (Scotland)

I see you have been doing sterling work on Restoration (Scotland). As you can see, I have just completed a small clean up, and have some requests.

If you add a short citation please make sure that you give the short citation the same date as the long citation. I have fixed several short citations which had different dates from the long citations. In each case I have set the short to the the long after checking that the date used in the long is the same as that in the World Cat entry for the ISBN. If in fact you used a different edition and the short citation carried the correct year then please adjust the short and long citations to that year and alter the ISBN, publisher etc used inthe long citation.

If you remove text as you did with this Revision of 22:35, 19 April 2015 then if you remove a short citation please either remove the long citation, (unless of course the long citation supports other short citations), or as an alternative move the long citation into the "Further reading" section.

Also the templates {{sfn}} and {{harvnb}} used to generate links for short citations use pp=, but templates such as {{cite book}} used to create long citations use pages=. What can one expect as Wikipedia is a horse designed by a very large ever changing committee (or "Arn't standard wonderful? Ther are so many to choose from.")

Hi. Thanks for that. A couple of things I did not know here, but I am now better informed. I was also planning to come back to the citations and sort out a few problems that remain after a suitable length of time in a darkened room. You may have made the most accurate summary of the difficulties so far seen. I can also honestly say that as bad a job as I might have made of them, the time spent on them outnumbered the time spent writing text by about two to one. I recently edited this page and named a broader example of bands still touring, I can confirm they are still touring however I'don't know how to cite or add a source. Can't you just find sources for the Killers and Franz Ferdinand and do it yourself, instead of reverting the edit - hardly constructive is it? House And Garage Music - Persistent Unsourced Edits

Hello!

I noted your reversion to a recent change at the House Music page, and am concerned at the fact that an editor (perhaps one editor, with three different IP addresses and a named account) is still pushing these changes, "flatlisting" and moving pages, etc. I have contacted Binkerstenet about this and he says he will take a look when he has time, and I would be grateful if you might also consider monitoring the situation as I'm uncertain of just what is going on and will be on holiday for the next week. If you are too busy, please don't worry and I'm sorry to have troubled you, but I'm greatly interested in those pages and think they have developed well. I am concerned about unsourced changes.

Major expansion of garage rock article underway

Hey, I absolutely love the changes in the photo arrangement that you made for the Garage rock article! I am preparing a major expansion of the G.R. article, that will hopefully be ready in the next week or so. It is in the first sandbox on my user page. Right now it is very rough. Due to the difficulty of writing the crazy thing, I am writing the text first, and will then go in and add the citations later this week--but I'm not winging it, I've carefully studied the sources, so it will be thoroughly sourced. I will solicit everyone's feedback, when I'm done. After the expansion, I would love to see if we could get it re-reviewed and see if it could get rated as FA class--that may be a stretch, but I'm sure we could get up to GA or A. By, the way its great having you back over here at the G.R. articles (been missing you--but I understand that you must have been very busy with other Wiki projects). Hi Sabrebd- I ain't gonna fight ya on subject-verb agreement in Thin Lizzy, but I would like to say that though the ENVAR you cite implies that British use of plural verb forms with singular nouns is correct in the U.K., I would call it more of a widely accepted affectation than good English. I'll bet if you asked a British English professor (ok, maybe born before 1970) to put his or her hand on the OED and utter the sentence "Parliament are in a kerfuffle over metrication", he/she would hesitate. Hi. It's a complex issue, further complicated by American usage as well. Its a bit like the -ise/ize problem. All British English usage is not -ise, for example the English dictionary, but it is generally assumed on Wikipedia that it is.--SabreBD (talk) 15:52, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Re-adding "File:2000 Year Temperature Comparison.png" in Little Ice Age

Hey, I saw you undid my edit, which removed "File:2000 Year Temperature Comparison.png" from the Little Ice Age article. Could you explain why? I'll plainly state why I removed it: The file is completely misleading due to the terrible big black line problem, and it's been lingering on many Wikipedia articles for 9 years now. I've hated it the first time I saw it, but politics makes it hard to fight those guys(see its talk page), and I don't care enough to do so. I thought I'd at least help by removing it from a single article. To be honest, what's really needed is a new graph getting made(it should be updated anyway, since it's a 9 year old graph), without that stupid black line. There's some craziness with a certain user on Heavy Metal Music right now, who seems to be reverting edits with sourced information that are reasonably relevant (also acting a bit passive aggressive on the talk page and not being all that friendly to page additions). If you could help out checking things out, it would be awesome. I'm not sure if the additions should have been removed or not. Multiple users were okay with them on the talk page. Sorry but would you please clarify your reasons of "not acceptable"? I think it's totally acceptable to leave just information of history there as this is far less controversial than rankings'. THE (comprising both global main and reputation league tables) doesn't represent all the major rankings we have (ARWU, QS, US News). To me, it's a bit biased to just mention one of them. I noticed you're a member of the R&B and Soul Music WikiProject. Mind helping me with an issue? I want to expand content on the articles Sade (singer) and Sade (band). Specifically, the history of the singer and band before the release of their debut album, Diamond Life (1984). Sade Adu appeared in numerous local newspaper and magazine articles during the period 1981–85, but I can't access them from my residence. Any ideas? Thanks. Garage rock article GA review

I'll be putting the Garage rock article up for GA review in the next day or so. I'm guessing that everything is ready to roll, but if you see anything that needs to be tidied up or fixed... I might try to get a source for the "needs citation" statement in the revivals section. Improving appearance of pages

New psychedelic garage section for the Garage rock article

I've finished work on a new section to cover the psychedelic aspects of 60s garage--to go into the Garage rock article. It is sitting in in my Sandbox #1. I thought you could take a look at it and give me any needed feedback. I had been intending to find a place in the article to touch on garage's place in the whole 60s experience and the socio-cultural dynamic (I see garage as essentially an ethnographic folk music, so there is an anthropological dimension). It seems that the psychedelic part is the place to put that material. I hope that I am not over-reaching in doing so, but I've found a good source that ties it all together--a study done on the San Jose scene, which takes a lot of the panoramic musio-societal themes discussed in Gilmore's Rolling Stone article--and relates these themes directly to suburban garage rock.
