The article Anders Grenstad has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Thanks for adding the category to the article. "Technically", categories should only be added if there is sourced content in the text to support the cats. I have only just started the article, hopefully I will find some good source to support the cat as I continue working on the article, so it can stay for now. Many thanks for your list of Swedish ONUC battalions. Any and all additions like this, to any UN / other mission, would be much appreciated. Can you indicate why the numbering starts at VIII? Buckshot06 (talk) 09:30, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And thank you, more will come, especially regarding the Swedish involvement. Regarding the numbering:
The first Swedish UN battalion in Sinai in 1956 was simply named Battalion 1. This numbering consisted from Battalion 1 to Battalion 9 which was initially deployed in the Sinai and later in Gaza. After Battalion 9 the numbering was changed to include only odd numbers starting with 11 and with additional letter G for Gaza. Battalion 8 was transfered from Gaza to the Congo and then name Battalion VIII K. The K stands for Kongo (Congo). So, seven of the Congo battalions, 10 to 22, were recruited to serve in ONUC, while the other two were Gaza battalions transferred to the Congo as reinforcements. I should maybe include an explanation in the table that I added in the article. /Saftgurka (talk) 10:01, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou. I've jury-rigged your explanation into the article. Feel free to replace/improve at your convenience. Many thanks again Buckshot06 (talk) 23:03, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

User:Cyberpower678/IABot Management Interface/JSON to translate is where I placed the language file for the en language. If you and maybe some of your friends could translate this, I would greatly appreciate it. It's quite simple. Don't touch the keys, left-hand side, and only translate the values, right hand side. If you bork the JSON syntax somehow, it will not let you save so, it should be easy to spot what was borked.

  • I simply copied Cyberpower678s message to me. I have tried to translate as many as I can. If you find time for it could you take a look. i think Cyberpower would really appreciate it as he is trying to complete work on a bot that will archive dead links on SvWiki.--BabbaQ (talk) 21:14, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Life Guards of Horse, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Collar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:45, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on National Swedish Museums of Military History requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.sfhm.se/english/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hi! Yes, I’ve added it now. Saftgurka (talk) 21:51, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's a reference to Holmberg 1993 in there, but there's no full citation to go with it. It's been a few articles you've created that have these issues. I suggest you install Svick's script per these instructions to get notified of those. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:01, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Other missing/problematic refs could be found in the following articles which you've created.

Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:09, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've corrected all of them exept for HSwMS Psilander (18). It wasn't I who added the footnote for the missing reference. I didn't know how to install that script. I've tried to do it now. Please check User:Saftgurka/vector.js it it looks correct. Saftgurka (talk) 13:50, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You did it right, and I took care of the HSwMS Psilander (18) (well I think I fixed it correctly at least). You can take a look at [1] to see the script working. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 13:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The description is wrong, it should be importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); and not importScript(User:Svick/HarvErrors.js); as the description says (with the ''). I've tried it now and it works. Saftgurka (talk) 14:02, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've re-read the description, and the ' are there. No sure where you saw a version without the single quotes. I did however miss them when I said you did it right. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 14:21, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's also good practice to have the backlink there (i.e. importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: [[User:Svick/HarvErrors.js]]) so that people can more easily know you have Svick's script installed. Which can be useful if new/better scripts are made, or if an update is made. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 14:24, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks. Btw, I see now that the single quotes are here Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors#Displaying error messages but not here User:Svick/HarvErrors.js. Saftgurka (talk) 14:30, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About salaries in the USSR[edit]

Salaries in the USSR. The usual scholarship at the university was 45 rubles, My first salary as a junior researcher at a research institute was 140 rubles (180 rubles after 4 years), a researcher - from 160 rubles, a senior researcher - from 180 rubles, the salary of my mother, an economist at a research institute - 220 rubles, the salary of my father, the head of the department in the scientific- research institute - 260 rubles The salary of an unskilled worker - from 80 rubles, a skilled worker - from 150 rubles, the salary of the director of the state plant or the director of the research institute - from 350 rubles. (in the defense industry, about 1.5-2 times more in each position). This can be checked via Google, but the bulk of the materials are exclusively in Russian.

Some materials may be here - https://www.quora.com/What-were-the-wages-in-the-Soviet-union or here - http://www.country-data.com/cgi-bin/query/r-12539.html. --Iich1960 (talk) 10:14, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please be familiar with MOS:CAPS before using capitals. And also, please do not use overlinked wls. Your edits will be reverted. Egeymi (talk) 09:38, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have two questions for you:
  1. Why are you reverting the page instead of correcting it? Like this
  2. How do I overlink a page if I link one link in the lead paragraph, one in the template and one in the first paragraph?

/Saftgurka (talk) 09:59, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  1. I corrected most of them. But you still insisted on capitals.
  2. In an article there would be the same wikilink for three times. You may read about the related rule. --Egeymi (talk) 12:20, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Where do I still insist of capitals since your last message? And is this your way of correcting things? That's a broken link to me. /Saftgurka (talk) 12:32, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Please read Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Linking#Duplicate_and_repeat_links, "Generally, a link should appear only once in an article, but it may be repeated if helpful for readers, such as in infoboxes, tables, image captions, footnotes, hatnotes, and at the first occurrence after the lead."

Reliable source for cannibalism case?[edit]

Hi Saftgurka, thanks for your recent edit to List of incidents of cannibalism, but I had to revert it due to a lack of reliable evidence that Isakin Drabbad really is a cannibal. A ZIP archive on a filesharing site is not an acceptable source and the "The Australian" article is actually "by The Sun" which is a deprecated source (see WP:THESUN). In the article on him you also link an Aftonbladet article that calls him a "cannibal", but without giving any details that could be considered evidence. Do you have any reliable sources (whether in English or Swedish) showing that this murder was actually followed by cannibalism? If so, please specify them and re-add the case. Gawaon (talk) 16:04, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The ZIP file contained PDF files of the actual report of the proceedings in Skaraborg District Court and the police's preliminary investigation report. You can't get a better source than that. I will remove the link to the ZIP file and add other sources not refering to The Sun. Is that ok? Saftgurka (talk) 07:42, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thanks! Though I've removed it from Human cannibalism, sine you also added it to List of incidents of cannibalism, where it fits better. We can't cover every individual act in the main article. Gawaon (talk) 16:00, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to join New pages patrol[edit]

Hello Saftgurka!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Collaboration?[edit]

@simongraham and I are working on getting Swedish warships up to Good Article status and we've been fairly successful, but we're running into problems getting access to books that you've referenced in your work on the various ships. I wonder if you'd be interested in working with us on our little project. Our sources are pretty good on the technical aspects, but are sadly lacking on information about their activities and we're hoping that you might be able to fill in some of the gaps. We'd be more than happy to add you as a co-nominator for the Good Article nomination process if that's something you might be interested in. Cordially, Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 11:20, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Most of the additions I made to articles about Swedish warships are translations from Swedish Wikipedia, mainly from articles made by Marcusroos (talk · contribs) who seems to have had access to these books. Marcusroos hasn't done any edits since 2016 so don't know if it's worth asking him for help. Perhaps it would be best to use the three books (that you already found?) written by Admiral Lybeck. Volume III: https://www.marinehist.dk/orlogsbib/z/SFH-III.pdf
  • Page 332-334 (PDF page 399-401) HSwMS Svea
  • Pages 334-340 (PDF pages 401-408) coastal defense ships
  • Pages 340-346 (PDF pages 408-414) torpedo cruisers, armored cruisers, mine cruisers
  • Pages 346-348 (PDF pages 414-416) destroyers and torpedo boats
  • Pages 348-350 (PDF pages 416-418) submarines
  • Page 350-352 (PDF page 418-420) Sverige-class coastal defence ship
  • Page 352-354 (PDF page 420-422) Gunboats, corvettes etc
  • Page 354-356 (PDF page 422-425) Different types of ships
  • Page 357- (PDF page 426-) HSwMS Gustaf V
I have access to Swedish news articles so can help with information from there. I can also help with translation if needed.

Saftgurka (talk) 12:48, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've referenced the Swedish wiki for several articles already, but Marcusroos doesn't seem to have added much on the ships' activities there. I'm uncertain if there wasn't any relevant material in them or he just wasn't much interested in adding that sort of material. At any rate you can see some of our recent efforts at HSwMS Gotland, HSwMS Clas Fleming and HSwMS Wasa (1901). Feel free to add anything that you can dig up from newspaper articles and improve our translations of the Swedish-language book titles if necessary. I'll probably just order copies of the books that I most want as they're relatively inexpensive, barring shipping costs.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:34, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
