Orphaned non-free media (File:ThaliaManias.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ThaliaManias.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:22, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Habítame siempre, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Mambo and Bachata (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Replaceable fair use File:Thalia attending an event in October 2012.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Thalia attending an event in October 2012.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 06:36, 3 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sailormoon94, nice to meet you. I see you are from Greece (I was right to tell you). I come to talk to you about Thalia, apparently you speak more than two languages, no?. Good, I think it would be good to carry as good or featured article to Thalia in the Greek Wikipedia and English Wikipedia; What do you say?. Best regards, Chrishonduras (talk) 20:38, 7 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As for the English Wikipedia, it is very difficult because there are always spammers and people who change the article by writing nonsense (like the recent 12-million total sales number which sounds ridiculous and silly). However, I think Thalia's article in Greek Wikipedia is indeed a good article, there are no errors and it is very well structured and with many references. But I don't know what to do in order to make an article be considered featured article. I can speak and write fluently in Greek and English and I have an advanced level of Spanish and French. At the moment, I'm trying to enrich the section that refers to the cultural impact of her telenovelas. I think it is a huge part in Thalia's career and there whould be more information on this topic. I'm searching references and stuff, let's see what we can do about it.

Disruptive editing

[edit]

First of all, stop reverting everyone's edit, like you did here. You do not own the article. The last edit was merely disambiguating an article and you reverted without explaining why. Second of all, edit with your account logged in. Editing under your IP is considered sock puppeting and may lead you to being block for disruptive editing. Erick (talk) 00:19, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't remember to have made these edits. I think you are mistaken.

Sorry for the intromision. But, Sailormoon this comment no is of Civility. 79.130.40.6 is from Greece (Ródos, Dhodhekanisos maybe). Best regards, Chrishonduras (talk) 05:02, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Thalia attending Tommy Hilfiger's fashion show, Sept 2012.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Thalia attending Tommy Hilfiger's fashion show, Sept 2012.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

La Apuesta

[edit]

Per WP:NSONGS, a song needs to have ranked at least one notable music chart, won an award, and/or has been covered by a notable artist. La Apuesta does not meet with any of the three at fails the notability for the song until it has ranked on at least one music chart. That said, you said may create a sandbox and put information about the song there until the song satisfies the criteria to have its own article. Erick (talk) 15:41, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually forget what I said. The guideline has kind of lost its meaning since there are songs with no chart rankings that are even being promoted Good Article status. Erick (talk) 18:41, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for help

[edit]

Greetings: My name is Ivan Robaina Bychko and I am a 19 years old Cuban Wikipedia who currently works in several articles about Greece both in Spanish Wikipedia and at my university (University of Santiago -Universidad de Oriente-/you can see the link here: www.uo.edu.cu). I am very interested in the history, society and culture of your country and I would be very thankful if you would be willing to help me to collect some information about your country that is difficult to find in bibliography (It is even harder to find to me since I do not have international internet connectivity). I am not exaggerating when I say that I would also be honored to correspond to a Greek citizen, since I feel high admiration for the inhabitants of such a beautiful nation. In case you want to contact me, my e-mail account is: nayesda.daria@medired.scu.sld.cu Humbly waiting for your willingness to help me Sincerely yours, Ivan — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.220.215.12 (talk) 04:10, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
