Question regarding plot comprehension
[edit]I saw your opposition on Forget-Me-Now, and was wondering, would you be willing or able to tell me whether the plot at this article is adequately comprehensible for an uninformed reader? Cukie Gherkin (talk) 10:34, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Cukie Gherkin, starting with the lead, I would say not. Again the reader is faced with a series of names and no context as to who or what they are. The only description is that one of them is a "yōkai", which, as it's a foreign word in a language I don't understand, means I have to click away to a different article to find out what that means - with the danger that as it looks like an interesting article, I may read this and not the target article. It's a good aim to try and keep people reading the target article as long as possible - at least to get them through the lead so they have read the potted story of the topic; in this case I had to click away before I got to the end of the second line!In terms of the plot section of "To a Kinder World", the same problems appear: the term "yōkai" to click away from, and then an attack on two people - Momo Ayase and Ken "Okarun" Takakura - for no apparent reason: who are they and why have they been attacked? That's more important to know than that it took place in a warehouse. It's difficult to write summaries for an in-universe you know well - it's something we have all struggled with from time to time! - SchroCat (talk) 06:01, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- I've made edits to the lead in accordance with your notes; how does the lead read now? - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 21:40, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
